Princess Renata de Savoie sat in her chambers that evening. Within the day, her life had flipped upside down. The betrayal and death of her sister, the near loss of her life, a broken betrothal, and the bestowal of a future with a crown upon her head.
She had been blinded when her sister’s life had been severed, and she had not seen the body disposed of. Yet despite her sour words to the Count Remus, something deep within her grieved. A poor excuse for a sibling, perhaps, but blood nonetheless.
The princess remained alone in her room for several days.

Princess Renata de Savoie smiles softly as she reads over the missive. The young woman signs the Lorraine over her heart, pride radiating from her features for the loyal House of Jazloviecki.
“May God keep and protect them. To find better men than these is a rarity.”

The Battle of Two Suns
14th of the Grand Harvest, 69 S.A.
[!] A depiction of the Battle of Two Suns.
On the 7th of the Grand Harvest, 69 S.A., a great deceit was levied upon His Serene Highness, Prince Lucien I of Savoy. The Princely Council had convened in the County of Lvinsk for its second time in recent months to discuss the matter of succession of the Savoyard Crown. The potential claimants were Princess Renata de Savoie, Princess Carolina de Savoie, and Count Remus de Bar. However, minutes into deliberation, the sound of many pairs of boots echoed through the rooms below the gathering, signaling the arrival of a violent party. They announced their intentions immediately upon bursting into the room. They had come with the intent to kill.
The Council was unprepared for such an attack, but raised their blades against the mercenaries. Prince Lucien was the first to don his armor, followed by those council members and soldiers present: Princess Renata de Savoie, Princess Carolina de Savoie, Count Remus de Bar, Count Borys Jazloviecki, Count Karl Barclay, Ruadh Mòr, Commander Sebastian Velho, and Corporal Julius. With some Savoyards unarmored, and the numbers almost evenly matched, the battle began.
The Savoyard Council prevailed against those paid mercenaries, led to victory by their Prince, who cut down the majority of the attackers. His Serene Highness remained unharmed throughout the battle. In the bloodied area, however, as those bodies still lay warm upon the earth and the Savoyards pushed themselves to their feet, something was clear. A betrayal had occurred. As the injured council gathered, Princess Renata’s gaze fell upon her sister. In her eyes, something was certain.
“I believe our sister has betrayed us.”
Although Princess Carolina argued her innocence, there was no doubt in the council’s eyes. She was an unfavorable candidate, and first in the line of succession if Prince Lucien were to die before selecting a successor. In the midst of the dispute, she challenged Princess Renata to a duel. A fight to the death over her honor. Princess Renata accepted, asking her elder brother whether he would be her champion. He agreed.
“You would have another fight your battles?”
“You had sellswords fight your own.”And so the duel commenced. By its end, Princess Carolina Luisa de Savoie lay dead upon the Savoyard soil. In the aftermath, the Oracle-Count Remus approached the remaining royal siblings. With a wound yet to be tended bleeding from his abdomen, he told of a vision. When that blade had plunged into his gut, he saw Princess Renata and himself sharing the throne of Savoy. He saw twin sons, and a daughter. Such visions were not taken lightly.
In the discussions following, a successor was soon to be named:
Princess Renata Adelina Ashford de Savoie was heir to the Savoyard throne, and Duke Remus Ashford de Bar would be her consort.
Signed,
His Serene Highness, Lucien I, Prince of Savoy
Her Royal Highness, Renata Adelina Ashford de Savoie, Princess of Savoy

Princess Renata returned to Niseep that night, head hung low as she prepared herself for a new life. One of duty and little rest. Guilt panged in her heart, but she knew it had been the best action she could have taken. Alone in her room, she grieved what could've been.
At least her ex-betrothed had gotten a new fire fit out of the ordeal.

Dame Primrose Kortrevich shared a drink that night in the Seven Skies with her fallen brothers and sisters in arms as they passed around a mysteriously acquired print of the Almanac.
"It is good to see they haven't yet forgotten us." The deceased knightess uttered as she read over the descriptions of those she used to fight beside before passing the parchment to her beloved father, Ser Nikolaus. "And that our blessed kingdom remains unwavering."1 -
Princess Renata peered wide-eyed at the foreign gossip column from her chambers within the Savoyard palace. As she read and re-read the mentions of her future Barclay in-laws, she made sure to keep a mental note of their scandals.
When she arrived in the Haeseni courts, she realized, she would have to keep a closely guarded profile.

Lylianth Ithelanen nodded several times as she read, dragging a whetstone along her trusty blade as she prepared herself to raise it once more.
“Now this is a pact I can get behind.” The bandana-wearing elfess muttered to herself.

THE BESTOWAL OF THE HEXER KEEP, 1858
19th of The Grand Harvest 1858
The Prince of Savoy sees fit to fulfill the promises of his forefathers by honoring a debt owed to the Creed known as the Hexers. After decades of protecting the Savoyard realms from the desert-dwelling beasts that reside in its surrounding area, the Hexers are to be given land with a keep to be built upon it with the partial fiscal aid of the crown. The specifications of the arrangement are as follows:
I. The Hexers will maintain the right to ownership of their given lands beneath Lucien I and his descendants without challenge.
A. The expense to construct the keep will be partially funded by His Serene Highness.
B. The Hexer Creed and its constituents will be afforded full independence in managing and facilitating their keep and its surrounding areas.
II. The Hexers will be expected to protect the Savoyard realms from beastial, unnatural, paranormal, and otherwise abnormal threats for the duration of their residency within the keep in return for pay through established contracts.
A. The killing of proven humanoid beasts such as vampyrs and ghosts within Savoy’s borders will not be considered a criminal offense.
B. The Hexers will be afforded authority in the facilitation and management of extranatural or bestial affairs threatening Savoy or its vassal realms in the form of contract or calling with the bestowment of coin.
III. The Hexers will not raise arms against the Prince and his subjects, nor will the Prince raise arms against the Hexers in turn.
Signed,
His Serene Highness, Lucien I, Prince of Savoy, Duke of Corazon, Count of San Luciano, Peremont and Sarissa, Baron of Brynnrose
Sir Edmond of Sava, Hexer
Arthur of Caermad, Hexer

Princess Renata, perhaps one of the least forgiving of her siblings, smiled faintly upon reading the missive. She may have treated her sister with little empathy, but Carolina was still her blood, and she dearly hoped that her estranged kin would return to them reformed, for Renata had secretly missed her sister.

THE DISENFRANCHISEMENT OF CAROLINA LUISA, 1858
Issued and Confirmed by His Serene Highness Lucien I, Prince of Savoy, 9 Owyn’s Flame, 1858
To dear Carolina, I ask with woe - when did those traitors that so denied us Our father’s legacy corrupt you? In which back room did they fill your head with dark thoughts, spurious lies - and why did you so easily believe them?
WHEREAS by Malevolent will my sister has been led astray, and her quill found paper ‘neath the writs of my betrayers; Let none be mistaken by my intentions herein. I am a GOD-fearing man, and one that takes the bonds of blood with the utmost in filial piety. For my siblings, I would cross the world and face daemonica; yet it has been made abundantly clear that at least one bears no such feelings in return. To you, sister, I give this last mercy in light of your past kindness and our shared blood, though your betrayal was by far the most injurious.
Hear ye and let it be know that this day, the Ninth of Owyn’s Flame, 1858, for her crimes against family and nation of sedition, subterfuge, and malevolence otherwise, and until such time as she comes peaceful and kind, repentant before the eyes of GOD, seeking Our forgiveness;
For her betrayal of family, Carolina Luisa Ashford de Savoie shall be stripped of Our shared name, and shall henceforth be afforded none of the rights nor privileges of Our House; by tradition she shall be known as Carolina Luisa Ashes.
For her betrayal of state, Carolina Luisa Ashes may no longer style herself a Princess of Our fair nation, and she is to be granted no hospitality within Our lands.
Thus has been declared at Our Court upon the eve of the Eighth of Owyn’s Flame, 1858, in full view of Our assembled peerages and GOD, and shall take effect immediately upon the promulgation of this missive. It shall not end until right and proper penance is performed by Carolina Luisa Ashes before GOD, and her remorse judged true and accepted by Our throne.
GOD-WILLING,
His Serene Highness, Lucien I, Prince of Savoy, Duke of Corazon, Count of San Luciano, Peremont and Sarissa, Baron of Brynnrose

Princess Renata Adelina of Sutica, as bestowed rightfully by her eldest brother, thinks her sister should probably cope harder.

Princess Renata Adelina scanned the missive, nodding pleasantly. "May this council be more successful than those before us."

IN SUPPORT OF OUR BROTHER
3rd of the First Seed, 1857
The princesses of Savoy, Renata Adelina and Vivienne Anastasie see fit to make their support of their eldest brother, the rightful Prince of Savoy, known. They stand beside him in his coronation and rule throughout these difficult and trying times. We stand with our nation’s vassals in this period of Savoyard uncertainty. The princesses of de Savoie remain undivided in their familial support of Prince Lucien I, crowned justly before the courts of Savoy under the Lord GOD.
Let it be known that they recognize no pretender as the ruler of their nation, and no foreign blood will reign as tyrants of Savoyard lands. That any regent until Prince Lucien is of age be appointed by himself. As third and fourth in the line of succession to the throne of Savoy, they reaffirm their loyalty to the natural heir to the throne with utmost faith in his rule. Let any who defy the right of succession be dismissed and cast aside.
GOD save Prince Lucien I of Savoy, long may he reign.
IN NOMINE DEI,
Her Highness, Princess Renata Adelina Ashford de Savoie of Savoy
Her Highness, Princess Vivienne Anastasie Ashford de Savoie of Savoy

Princess Renata stared at the poem in surprise, written by the girl she had only briefly met. She was promptly convinced that this younger girl would become her very best friend.

Gently, the Morovar passed the note around the table and to subsequently anyone else who wished to bare witness. Though she felt mostly relived, her bandaged hands began to shake. More then 20 years of her life she had given to cultivating a love that simply would not grow for her. She was almost 30 now, and just now understanding how happiness worked. What a fool she still was.
Eleanore Morovar smiled softly as Nikoleta passed her the letter, a mildly saddened expression, but one of hope. "Welcome back to the family, chera. May this mark the beginning of your rebirth and may your happiness be born anew." The older Morovar woman murmured, beckoning her beloved sister-in-law into an embrace.

Princess Renata read the letter from the comfort of the Savoyard palace, now keeping tabs on the affairs of the Kingdom of Hoonse! She clapped her hands together in excitement. "They used my cow dookie idea!" She exclaimed to her elder brother, Lucien, as she passed him the poorly written letter.

"The time for ruin is upon us." A wispy voice hissed, her words being taken by the icy winds of the north. She held a torn parchment in her hand as she peered out to the dark horizon. "My siblings have been so busy... I believe we're due for a meeting." The woman murmured before releasing the paper and watching it flutter into the darkness.

A cloaked figure returned to her keep in the north that evening, chuckling to herself as she strode through the gates. She greeted her children cheerily as she entered, her clothing reeking of smoke and smudged with ash. The woman ascended the stairs to tell her husband the entire tale.
“Just wait and see how the Orenian rats will scamper.” She cooed to him as she pushed her way into her room.

TO ANNE ADELHEID AND ANNE ELEANOR
“We never had any bond, we never played together or spent time together. Each of us went onto their own path and forgot about their siblings, but I do love you, maybe I never showed it, but you are always my little sisters. I will be back one day and redeem myself, perhaps your grandchildren might use an old man as tutor?”
Signed, Philip Pruvia
Viscount-Emeritus of Provins and Priest of the Church of Canon
The personal letters are private and not available to anyone except the peoples they are written for. I’m shelving Philip for some time with the intention of playing him after some time, perhaps it will be more interesting then. Much love to the Pruvians and all who RPed with Philie!
Anne Eleanore took the letter in hand, reading it with a sullen expression from her room within the chilled but bustling northern keep in which she resided. Shakily she retrieved a quill, penning a response to the brother she had barely known.
"Dearest brother,
I will admit that I once faulted you for our distance- for my inability to trust you. I realize now that it has always been the fault of our mother. If not for her incapability to love, perhaps we could have had a happy family. I can't recall a day in my youth where we all came together as one. Maybe in my immaturity, that was one of the reasons I sought to escape Oren so desperately. Know, brother, that I am sorry I left so early. That I was never present to meet my nieces and nephews. And know that I will eagerly await your return.
With love,
your sister, Eleanore"

"Ew!" An estranged Pruvian daughter commented from the northern lands, already forty years old herself. She desperately wished she could lament to her almost-mother, Maisie.

Lylianth grinned, standing upon Stone Tower’s upper level as she watched the ferrymen return. She waved her teal bandana in solidarity. “Seems the wig-wearers finally took a fight.” The elven woman muttered to herself as she noted the bloodied blades of her comrades.

Thank you.
There's this joke that no woman on lotc hasn't been groomed. Think about that.
#1: this. ^^^ i don’t know if i’ve ever spoken about this topic to a girl or woman who joined lotc as a minor and hasn’t experienced some sort of predatory behavior.
#2: as someone who has experienced this- thank you.
the person that groomed me was banned with very little solid evidence. that is because the medium they used was snapchat. i recognize now that i am very lucky.
additionally, the argument that it was “too long ago” to act on is bullshit. i was 14 and terrified. it took me over a year to speak out about what happened to me. and i wasn’t even the one to report it. predators build friendships and trust with their victims and it takes a long ******* time for the guilt of escaping them to fade.
if someone is a known predator- they should be banned. bottom line. they’re not being sent to prison, they’re being banned from a minecraft server where other minors might be targeted if they’re not removed. it is more important to protect children than allow a potentially dangerous adult to continue playing a block game. bottom line

(as an addition. making the server 18+ is a step in the wrong direction. it’s never the kid’s fault- it’s the predator. it’s the staff’s responsibility to make lotc a safe place.)

A long deceased Barbanov princess frowned down upon the Palatine with an expression wrought of sympathy. She, too, a victim of a past prophecy- one told by the old Morovar’s prophetic forebearer.
“Of the three princesses will remain two. One’s color is faded, the other in blue.”
The red princess, Amelya Valeriya, recited softly in memory, welcoming the stillborn infant into the skies.
