Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Origin: Revenants (grey phantoms) are a type of Phantoms that have just awoken from their violent, premature, or even unexpected deaths and, their will to not pass on just quite yet. These spirits do not understand the nature of their ‘living’, and their minds overflooded with confusion during this stage. This stage is rather temporary, as once they overcome the fact of what has become of them.

Physical Appearance/Description: Revenants lack the fine control over their appearance that you see most advanced stages have. These spirits do not hold the willpower to control their own transparency. The physical state of these spirit’s clothing is depending mostly on the cause of their own demise, such being if one was badly wounded they would have different scratches and rips upon there clothing, though it is not too gruesome or striking, it shows nonetheless; they also hold the visual to look almost exactly as they did in the mortal world beforehand.

These spirits have rather soft or ‘shallow’ voices sounding rather distant from who they speak to. 

Mental State: As I said before Revenants are spirits who are not really attuned with the nature of their existence, putting them in a lingering state. They usually roam with a rather confused mindset as they struggle to grasp the reality that is taking place. These spirits are usually seen to be depressed sad or angry in a sense their minds tending to change a rather great amount. 

Much like all types of phantoms, Revenants suffer from a large mixture of mental illnesses, normally caused by the mentally corrosive influence of the demise. The spirits are seen to mostly want to do daily tasks that they did or wished to do in their mortal states as they think everything is normal for a little amount of time.

Pain Responses and Regeneration: Revenants have a very low pain tolerance and are usually seen to be thrown into fits and such. Along with such they also require two months (2 OOC Days)  to regenerate any large wounds and such, like the loss of limbs. 

Abilities: 

While these spirits are in their ‘fledgling’ state they only have a small number of abilities to use. These abilities take time and much effort to learn though they develop more control over such as they come to the full realization of the current situation they hold. 

The first ability is Phantasmal which means they are like ‘ghost’ saying that they are not able to affect the mortal world and the mortal world cannot affect them. This also means they are able to levitate as they weigh as much as air.

The second ability is the ability to dematerialize. This ability making the Revenants able to hold some footing within the Elysian being able to lower their presence within the material realm.

The final ability weak grasp these spirits hold is the ability to slightly interact with the world. Mostly allowing them to form a weak ethereal form upon some objects mostly being rather light and not as heavy.

Catherine would look at the letter with anger upon her face as she would roll her eyes soon after such, The woman would then look to one of her hand maidens upon her ship. “How dare he- He must know he goes against Nolan O’Hara’s will to make me matriarch and goes against all of the families will. My cousin has lost his mind, The family is dissolved that is FINALE ” she’d say  waving her Hand maiden to bring the Captain of the Ship into her office room, she would then go to command her ship captain to turn the boat around. “We are leaving sea, I  have family matters to attend to back upon Arcas...” Catherine would seem to then add a small grin upon her face.

DISSOLUTION OF THE HOUSE O’HARA

9th of Horen’s Calling, 1760

It is with great sadness that I write this document. In my short reign as Crown Princess-Consort and future Queen of the Kingdom of Courland I would like to make an announcement to all the people of Arcas:

For too long my former family has caused problems throughout all the different nations of Arcas. Treason, betrayals and other treacherous attitudes have characterized the conduct of the O’Haras through many different generations. The O’Hara name is stained with too many mistakes and errors committed in the past. 

Therefore, I, Catherine Marie, Matriarch of the House O’Hara hereby dissolve the House O’Hara for good and strip from myself all titles and honors associated with that House. None shall from now on wear the cursed surname of “O’Hara” ever again. 

Finally, I would also like to write to the Vassals of Courland and to The Trade State of Sutica to say that whoever suddenly came to the conclusion of us being shades or harboring shades is totally false and wrong; any sort of dark magic is an ill state within the family of O’Hara. 

Having said that, I would like to come to some sort of agreement with the Fester family, about how we may be able to settle this affair.

As the Queen-Mother of Courland it is my duty to make sure our courts are safe from harm. Thus I have asked our government to send word to the church to ask if we could together test the members of the O’Hara family that resides in Courland. 

We have ourselves tested the Crown Princess-Consort and have found her to not be a shade, along with her sister Mary Anne. At this moment we await for the church to come and confirm this as well to ease the minds of our people. 

The lawyers and detectives are working on checking if the story that they have been accused of matches, for one mistake of a distant relative should not affect the rest. They are women, women should not be held responsible for what men choose to do. Just like men should not be responsible for what women choose to do. We are all our own persons, do not judge many from the actions of one. 

Though trust my word when I say that if they are all proven guilty they will be executed or banished. For dark magic is a sin to the canonist church, and we hold our faith close to our hearts and follow it as best as we can.

To the people of  all Arcas, I would like to formally invite you all to a ball that is going to take place this saint weekend in New Aleksandria, capital of the Kingdom of Courland, to celebrate the victory of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince-Regent Tobias Staunton against the tyranny of the Mad King.

The ball shall be held within the Selsmire Palace. The gentlemen of the ball will have the right to cast a vote for the King of Rainbow and the ladies to cast a vote for the Queen of Love & Beauty. Before the ball is concluded the King of Rainbow and the Queen of Love & Beauty shall be proclaimed by the organizers of the ball according to the votes casted by the attendees [SATURDAY AT 2PM EST].
