  1. The Story Team is the single best thing ever seen on a Minecraft roleplaying server, and the only reason Lord of the Craft Exists. The Story Team are a group of amazing people who write incredible stories that everyone can enjoy. You don't have to be a member of the Story Team or even play on the server to enjoy these great stories. We encourage you to share them with your friends! Just remember to give proper credit if you do so. Enjoy! Story team works harder than anyone else on the server in terms of plot and events, so we hope you'll join us for all our upcoming adventures! Just remember not to annoy the feral greentags, they will kill you. they will kill your family. they will murder your leader and they will take over your nation and turn it into a pile of ash! so just remember to pay the green tag tax, or they will come for you and destroy everything you've worked for! I'm sure you're wondering why you should listen to me when I tell you how important it is to pay the green tag tax. The other day they killed a human village and ate their food and then left. They took all of their clothes too. These vile creatures are no longer welcome here in the valley and we would like to ask you to stop paying the green tag tax. If you do not pay the green tag tax you will be hunted down by the green tag tax collectors and slain. To learn more about the green tag tax and what it means to you, please visit this website: www.thegreentagtax.com If you're still confused, don't worry! The green tag tax has been around since the dawn of time. It's used as a way to keep the evil green tag tax collectors out of the country. where was I again? o yes, story team good job.
  2. Heyo it's ya guy, back again with another post. After my post which somehow blew out of the water so bad I made myself a sped on the run with 20 different accounts of chromosome theft, I've been a bit MIA. But now, I'm back with a problem I would like to speak on. CAs (And the Wonks too) As a man who's played and angered most of the communities on this server, I know I'm a pretty disliked guy. BUT, there is still topics I'd like to put my piece on. CAs in general are the worst ideas on the planet. Yes I understand some races can be a bit...iffy, but seriously. Musin? Behind a damn CA? They are in most cases, 2 feet tall mice people who can't attack others because of their past. Are you telling me I have to make an application to actually do so? Same with the Wonks and Ologs. Ologs have been a staple for the Orc community for a long time. Yes, I know they're a bit overpowered. BUT, that doesn't mean you can't dumb them down for a player to use. Plus with how others play their orcs these days, they just seem like a more dumb orc with a tad more power. And the Wonks. My children of froggy, French descent. I never understood why they were under some kind of wall, all because they were frogs. And now, the last of them are dead because they were soft shelled for some damn reason. Perhaps if they weren't behind a CA people would play them. But alas, as the old saying goes, "It ees what it ees". Please bring back frog people I want to play one named Pierre who cooks Escargot and speaks super broken french cause that would bring good RP to cities, instead of this generic 'human soldier' 'elf cavalry' 'dwarven capitalist taxman' cliche.
  3. As the title suggests, this post is nothing more than a fart in a hurricane. It isn't the first of its kind and it won't be the last. It's a rant without any solid structure or nice formatting, so bear with me. Lord of the Craft, as a concept, is absolutely wonderful. It has plenty of potential, arguably way more than any other server. Every day is different and unique. Tonight you may be having slice of life RP with friends, the next you may be out hunting a brigand or a monster, all while bonding with other players' characters, making friends and enemies. I don't know about you, but I can role-play for hours on end without getting bored with the right RP partner, only to resume our adventures the very next day. It has its flaws, like any other thing. How many times has lore been ripped out of the server? Or, how many times has a staff member taken way too long to help you with an issue? Or maybe you're annoyed because the path you want to take is being gatekeeped to hell? Personally, I can live with all that- I accept it for what it is. With that, you can still turn around and leave the server on neutral, or even good terms, like "Had my time here. Not my sort of place, I guess." My main issue, however, is way worse. It's like a game-breaking bug there's no patch for; OOC Toxicity. That, on the other hand, will make your depature from the server bitter, like "Damn, these guys are real these and thats." I'm not talking about DoingUrMum420 (Not an actual player) calling your grandma gay after you hit them one too many times. On any other RP platform I have been on, there's a sense of good sportsmanship during conflict. I recall taking part in Discord roleplay servers before joining LOTC. Whenever conflict arose, I recall all participants being pumped and excited for it. Other players' plotlines and OOC emotions were taken into account, and antagonists focused on making conflict enjoyable for the group the way a DnD Dungeon Master wants to keep his party engaged. There is none of that on LOTC. Whenever enemies are formed, be it in a war between two factions or an interpersonal conflict, there seems to be a lot of resentment in the air. Insults are exchanged between the two player bases and spite takes place of enjoyment. Instead of sorting out a potential issue, the first course of action for some is to straight up try to get the other party banned. Instead of trying to make conflict enjoyable and tolerable, people will go out of their way to pretty much ruin someone else's RP for the sole reason of the other player being on the other side of the conflict. There's no fun in that. And I can't see how it can be fun for the people actively doing these things. You get nothing out of being spiteful, apart from knowing that you may have just ruined the other person's day. I honestly don't get why the server needs to be treated as a PvP factions server. I've had the absolute pleasure of taking part in conflict RP with friends. When one character antagonized the other, the others went along with it, roleplayed and had fun without going off on each other OOCly. In particular, I recall one of my characters, Shoes, being the local ne'er-do-well who always picked fights, and more often than not, got beaten to a pulp for it. I remember it being fun, for myself and for others. Despite dealing with the menace that was my character, we've always been on good terms OOCly, and haven't argued about it. Any differences we had, we could easily resolve through communication and vibe checks. On the other hand, I've also had a lot of terrible experiences that left me feeling upset OOCly. I had negative remarks tossed my way in LOOC during conflict RP, like being belittled for being upset over RP, or being insulted by someone you thought was decent because you killed them IRP. I found myself being a part of a fledgeling RP-focused community that was relentlessly bullied by a much bigger one. It was a community we formed as a bunch of friends, wanting to RP as our characters, develop bonds and have a little corner to call our own. I have left the server itself a few weeks back, but to this day the remnants of the community are being bullied by the same party. It sucks seeing really wonderful people getting upset because of it. It hurts knowing that no matter how much they try to maintain that safe space, nothing's going to change. People are leaving the server because of it, and it's not even funny. I wanted to bring up the topic of character bleed. It was a concept introduced to me by @Charbi, who's by far one of the most wonderful people I've gotten to meet on here. She describes it best, so I'll share her description of it here: "Based on some of the interactions I’ve been experiencing as of late, I wanted to take a moment and do a quick reminder as an old lady who has done many years of theatre and roleplay on many different mediums. Disagreements are bound to arise whilst playing the server, as they do in real life. Conflict is not optional. LOTC can be intense and make you experience this phenomenon called “character bleed” which is a valid feeling and completely normal. For those who are unfamiliar with this term, this phenomenon basically means that you are able to no longer empathise your characters feelings but feel them fully for yourself so that some sadness or anger is no longer you playing your character, but your own frustrations and sadness as you, the player. It is imperative that when you begin to genuinely feel angry or upset at an IG situation, you take a step back and a breather, reminding ourselves that we are not our characters and the person on the other side of the screen you may be feeling a certain way toward is just as nervous a cucumber as you are. We’re all here to tell our character’s stories collectively together, that’s all. " -Charbi If you at any point experienced character bleed, know that you're not the only one. It's okay to get upset over RP- there are no wrong emotions. If there are players tormenting you irp for BS reasons, you are not the only one. Remember that you're never alone in cases like this. LOTC can be fun, and it can be utterly horrible. There are two very different sides to that coin. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! As I said before, it's a fart in a hurricane, and I don't expect it'll make much of an impact. But here I am, getting it off my chest, and if it'll make a tiny difference to one or two people, I'm happy with that. If you give a damn about the community's well-being, you can always do your part by checking in with the other players involved and offering a friendly attitude. I can guarantee that it'll make your own experience, too. You don't know if somebody had a bad day, a bad week, a bad month. Just be kind. If you're personally pissed or upset about something and feel like you don't have anyone to turn to, my DMs are open, just hit up- Quacken#4140. Not staff, not anything, but if you need a to rant, I'll lend an ear. On another note, I hope you're having a great day. And to toss in a bit of positivity into this clusterf*ck- you're unique, you're special, and you matter!
  4. Before you tear me a new one for the title of this post as being 'click bait' or 'Rep farm', I do want say that this is an actual piece that I'm writing because of the current state of the server as seen through a regular, normal, forgettable player's eyes. You in no means have to respond to this or upvote it, I just felt like these opinions needed to be stated. Now since that's out of the way, let me begin by saying this. I've been on LOTC since the beginning of Atlas. I'm by no means a veteran or a new player, but I've had my fair share of interactions, stories, events, and bad encounters with the people of this server. LOTC has been a place where I can go to put off steam and simply run around and have a fun time. Yes the constant Tavern RP simulator can get boring, but its bearable when you make your own things to do. Wacky, over the top characters are my specialty and joy of my life here on LOTC. Running around as a homeless crack dealer throwing spiders at people, being a chef who follows the words of a Kitchen pantheon, a tavern owner of a sewer nation for some time. The most fun I've ever had in RP is on these characters. The problem is either the gates being closed at every nation, the people of said nations sticking themselves in the tavern for Tavern RP sim, or being shot down by a guard every time I walk ten feet. Playing over the top characters has become immensely unenjoyable because of the fact that every time I walk into a nation like Elysium, I'm told that someone is going to kill my character OOCly just because they can. What can I do about it? Nothing cause I don't put PVP or meta combat build weapons on the character cause I want to have fun. Its been around for 3-4 years, but these days LOTC is slowly losing its fun factor. Rules and workarounds have slashed fun RP encounters and make everything a war on who's build is the best and who can do the most damage while not having a single ounce of fun. I get people want serious RP, and that's fine! I just want to go back to a time where nations didn't bash me for playing a Chef who just wants to give free food to people. People desperately seek out STs to run events, and then look at the players who want to make fun interactions and ignore them, or lower their want to play the character because they personally don't like a concept. But hey, who knows. Maybe next time I walk to the Vale and say I can't remove my helmet for religious reasons they won't shun me for wanting to give them free food. (Yes this did happen, yes I do not regret going there on two occasions screaming to let me in to feed them stew.) I know this rant won't get any attention, but if you've ever played an over the top character, might as well share their story here. Plus its good to hear about who's played what and what their own view on this topic is. (Btw this isn't mean to bash any nation besides maybe the Vale. Elysium is chill tho. It's where I go to get Zooted and Hammered IRP.)
  5. A word on bows This is a guide on bows. Despite many people arguing about how powerful a bow is, how much damage it does and other annoying tidbits on what a bow does, not many people take the time to figure out how a bow actually works. It’s often believed that you train a bit by shooting a bow a few times or just slap “trained with a bow since they were little” into the backstory and suddenly your char can shoot any bow they pick up from the local dungeon ruin or whatever. Basically what this guide is about those little things which don’t effect role-play all too much but are seriously annoying when someone gets it wrong. If you want a guide on how to actually do archery in RP, Check this out then. Cool fella called Oblivionsbane made it. TL;DR I know I tend to rant on about things and this guide will end up getting very long. So here are some basic points I want to get across to all the unfortunate souls who stumble upon this product of a sleepless mind: - The majority of time taken between shots for a bow lies in nocking an arrow rather than pulling the bow back, firing, and aiming. - Wood is an organic material. Every single bow is different even if mass produced, same goes for arrows. An elf training a thousand years with a bow will still not be able to perfectly shoot some random bow and arrow they just pulled up off the ground. Unless magic, because magic. - An addition to the point above. Since wood is organic, it rots and stuff. Got to keep the bow in upkeep or else it is going to not work as well. Same of course, goes with arrows. - Bows can’t be fired without an arrow. Even the height of modern tech hasn’t been able to really get around this problem. Basically internal stresses cause the bow to go bang. - A warbow has a draw weight of around a hundred pounds or more. So you can’t really aim anything that does reasonable damage for any length of time. - Bow's for the most part, weren't strung all the time. Keeping a bow under tension would permanently bend the bow over time but most importantly it would cause the string to stretch. (Thanks to AGiantPie for reminding me of this) Section 1 - Different types of bow Section 2 : Actually making a bow Section 3 : Arrows Section 4 : Shooting a bow Section 5 : Bow maintainace Summary: God that took ages to write and I missed so many things. Actually, I probably missed a bunch of things and had terrible grammar while doing it. I just hope you can get some info about archery from this and lead to some more detailed and accurate RP. Please message me if you think something above is wrong or something should be added! ------------ Rev #5
