THE TRUE HISTORY OF LOTHARIA’S military is far older than many others can attest, going back centuries to a time of armies with several regiments themselves. Since such a time, it has gone through many changes and new leaders, from Viktor Darkwood founding the Company in Atrus, Peter d’Arkent’s revival later on Almaris, the restructuring of Dante deNurem and further work by Demetrius var Ruthern, it now lands in the hands of Aurus Greye to form in his image. This is a military with a storied history of martial victory over foes both mundane and magical, leading the way against Cloudbreaker and oppositional nations. The Division will proudly carry this legacy and prove themselves to live up to such a legacy through their work.

I. RANKAGE

Commanding Officers

  1. THE MAGISTER GLADII

THE MAGISTER GLADII IS THE HEAD OF THE DIVISION. Typically a soldier who has worked their way through the ranks and likely devoted their life to militaristic pursuit. Whether born with talent or having toiled away to perfect their craft, they are a force to be reckoned with on the field. Responsibilities of the Magister Gladii include general administrative duties—heading annual meetings, organizing training, distributing payroll, overseeing promotions, etc. Though some such duties may be delegated to the Tribune as needed, the Magister Gladii is the driving force behind the Division.

  1. THE TRIBUNE

THE TRIBUNE IS THE RIGHT-HAND OF THE MAGISTER GLADII. Second-most in authority above all other ranks, the role of Tribune is given only to the most trusted, and most experienced of the Division. Often they have proven themself through many years of service, having worked their way up through the ranks, and serve as a confidant of the Magister Gladii. They are given authority above all lower ranks and may lead training, meetings, and give commands in the Magister Gladii’s stead as needed. Though they are ultimately under the authority of the Magister Gladii, they are trusted to act on the Magister Gladii’s behalf in a situation where the Magister Gladii cannot be accessed.

Specialized Ranks

  1. PRINCIPALES

PRINCIPALES ARE AN OFFICER RANK. Above the Munifex and Tirones but below the Tribune and Magister Gladii, they are experienced soldiers who have shown their capability and expertise through years of service within the Division. This position, whilst similar in responsibilities to the Munifex, also gives Principales the authority to organize scouting missions, aid and lead Praefectus Castorem in supply runs, and command their lower-ranking comrades in tense situations where the Tribune or Magister Gladii may not be present. They are likewise expected to work alongside the Praefectus and Capsarius as a fellow member of a specialized rank. It is a great responsibility to bear, and as such it is only given to those who have proven themselves and are inherently trusted within the Division. The Division allows for up to five Principales.

  1. PRAEFECTUS CASTOREM.

PRAEFECTUS CASTOREM ARE QUARTERMASTERS. The bulk of their duties are carried out not on the battlefield, but in the mines or the deep storage of the Division. They are the gatherers of the necessary supplies to keep the Division running, be it ores, leather, or rations. Responsibilities of the Praefectus Castorem include but are not limited to mining runs, harvesting of the fields, or organizing trips with lower-ranking soldiers to collect supplies. They are tasked not only in the gathering of supplies, but inventory-keeping. The Division allows for up to two Praefectus Castorem.

  1. CAPSARIUS.

CAPSARIUS ARE FIELD MEDICS. Though they are not professionals, they are expected to understand basic medical procedures that will allow them to stabilize their wounded companions. Capsarius may be provided with medical training per availability and are expected to show a firm understanding of provided reading materials, such as A Combat Medic's Guide to Field Medicine. They may also be responsible for transporting or directing the transportation of wounded or fallen soldiers to professional medics, and should have a medical satchel on their person at all times whilst on duty. The Division allows for up to three Capsarius.

Foot Soldiers

  1. MUNIFEX.

MUNIFEX ARE FOOT SOLDIERS WHO HAVE COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING. They are the lifeblood of the Division — due to the brevity of the Tirones position and the limited availability of specialized ranks, Munifex should at any given time be the most populated role. Responsibilities of the Munifex include escorting Lotharian royalty or nobility, gate duty, gathering of provisions, and attending scouting parties. They are also expected to maintain regular attendance in training sessions and may be called to rally at any time in the case of an event or incident.

  1. TIRONES.

TIRONES ARE THE NEW RECRUITS OF THE DIVISION. It is a position held by new soldiers for the first year of their training. Once a Tirones displays a clear understanding of basic military procedure and protocol, they may be promoted to Munifex. A Tirones has very few responsibilities — they may be asked to aid the Praefectus Castorem, but most of their time will be occupied training and learning standard procedures like gate duty.

II. STRUCTURE

THE PRIMARY GATHERING OF THE DIVISION SHALL BE HELD ONCE ANNUALLY. It will be dedicated to discussion of any national or international incidents that concern the military, going over supply numbers and needs, and distributing pay. Training will also be held as available, be they combat or medical—soldiers are expected to maintain a favorable attendance record. Members of the Division of St. Lothar may be called to rally during any incidents as they occur, and might be asked to embark on scouting missions, reconnaissance, or supply runs.
