  1. @Sewer_Rat

Hey! I was talking with the creator of the homunculi in question, and was told that the idea behind the biological design there is less that the homunculi lacks the components of a head (most notably of course, a brain) and more-so that those segments of the body are located in the upper chest/roughly where a proper head would connect- My  apologies for not conveying it properly! The application has been tweaked now to better show that.

I was also given a reference image to somewhat explain the concept further

Of course if needed, I am more than glad to make some further alterations to the description! Thank you for your time

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

In the dark annals of history, there are many accounts of the unspeakable rituals of more obscure alchemists; such things ranging from moulding one's own flesh or false immortality- However, undeniably one of the most blasphemous acts one can achieve with the art of alchemy is thus: The creation of totally new life; a homunculi. The exact method of creating these things often varies from alchemist to alchemist, but the actual alchemical components used to create a homunculi are the same each time. A homunculi's anatomy is also somewhat of a flexible thing, and is bestowed to the being by its creator. These forms can range anywhere from false mockeries of descendant life to truly esoteric and peculiar beings. Notably, as artificial beings homunculi lack souls, making them unable to learn or practice any sort of arts requiring one. This lack of a soul combined with an unnatural mind makes homunculi incapable of feeling true emotion, and feigning such is difficult for them. These soulless amalgamations are capable of sustaining their forms indefinitely due to their regenerative capabilities, also allowing them to regrow lost limbs (A process taking three IRL days) or  even totally reform their bodies after being dispatched. (A process taking an IRL week to finish, and leaving the homunculi weak and confused for a 3 IRL day period afterward.) Another unnatural capability of the homunculi is that of Material Contrivance, allowing them to grow used to the removal or application of Tawkin's grafts in half the time it would take a regular descendant to. Their alchemical nature is not without detriments though, and the consumption of a Juliet's Potion will turn them to stone, effectively PK'ing them. They possess innate knowledge and connection to the Material world due to the circumstances of their creation, and they are often drawn to the study of alchemical arts. Homunculi are capable of discerning the alchemical signs of reagents merely from close inspection, but this does not make them an alchemist- They still need to be taught as anyone else might in order to dabble in such arts. (However, they do begin at Tier 2 if they do indeed learn alchemy due to their nature and capabilities.)

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

A blasphemous devising made physical, it is a creature somewhat resembling a bulky, hobbling descendant individual from a distance. However, closer inspection reveals the thing's grotesque limbs and, more strikingly, the thing's bulky head being part of its torso. Its facial features can instead be seen to be plastered onto the front of this mound of a being, its gaping maw often twisted to a false smile. The creature has a normal arrangement of organs as well. If struck hard in the lower head or stabbed in the chest, it will surely die due to internal damage. It has a small stomach due to its lower mouth, and eternally rasps due to its odd construction.

MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

Having served it's Master all in life; now not even death breaks its bonds of loyalty. The being appears to be a spectral, skeletal visage of a horse hovering faintly above the ground; a semisolid imitation of a saddle and bridle set upon its illusory bones. Its empty eye-sockets gleam at you in an oddly amicable way, the being's seemingly docile nature contrasting it's ghastly appearance and assuring you of it's neutrality. [[OOC: This item is used to represent the Steadfast Steed MArt, and it follows all rules and redlines of such as described on the LotC Forums.]]

[[Do not include the following in the MArt]]
While the item description above will be put on a saddle for the sake of representing the MArt's basic description, an in-game horse that will be kept in a whistle like any other might be will mechanically represent the MArt. And while maybe its a bit of a stretch to ask this, if it's possible in the Horse Whistle plug-in to keep a mechanical skeleton horse in a whistle, (assuming the ST would allow it) that'd be grand. Of course if that's not possible, or if you all would simply prefer not, a regular horse and emoting will be used to represent it.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

The Steadfast Steed may be summoned forth to simply walk beside it's owner, or to utilize one of its two usages; both of which have their effects and regulations written as follows:

    =Usage One: Lesser Transportation

The owner of the Steadfast Steed may call for the creature over the course of two emotes; (one to call for the creature, and one to emote it's appearance) and mount it to ride as one might a horse, in relatively mundane fashion. However, even the simple spectral nature of the steed grants a minor boon; while riding it the rider may move two blocks-per-emote faster or jump one block further horizontally than a regular horse. (Vertical jump is unchanged from a regular average horse; and this may not be used to access anywhere you couldn't already: More or less, regular horse rules apply here.) Aside from that, this is mostly a flavor ability. Once the owner of the being is finished with their ride, they may command the creature to linger with them or fade back to the soulstream until it is needed again.

[[OOC: The steed may be represented by a tamed horse or skeleton horse summoned from a horse-whistle combined with player emotes, or solely in the player's emotes. Redlines of this ability may be seen below.]]

    =Usage Two: Greater Transportation

By tacking on a additional two emotes to the summon process of the steed, (thereby making the full emote count four: one to call for the creature, one to emote the creature's appearance, one to have the rider (and any passengers) mount the creature, and one for the steed to fade from view and ride off) The owner of the creature (as well as any passengers) may ride/be carried via the steed to a place of their choosing which they have visited before.

[[OOC: This may be used as a means of using a soulstone IRP, or can simply be used for flavor while traveling. All regular redlines of soulstones apply to this, aside from the ones prohibiting their use in RP. See clarifications in the redlines below.]]

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

-The steed may not be summoned nor used during combat. If one is riding the steed and become engaged in combat, they must immediately emote dismounting and the steed fading away. (This process takes two emotes, one too dismount, and one to have the creature vanish.)

-The steed cannot be utilized to evade combat any more than a regular horse could, nor can it be used to evade events unless the residing ET rules so.

-The steed may not injure anyone, even unintentionally. Attempting to 'ram' someone with the steed would merely result in them phasing through the ghostly creature.

-The steed  must be emoted as it is as soon as someone sees it. You can't ride into a city on a horse only to suddenly emote that it was the spectral steed all along- (This redline is made null if you all rule that a skeleton horse can be mechanically used.)

-The steed can hold multiple people, though this has it's limits. It can hold both the person directing it and a single passenger of regular size or two passengers of very small size. (Halflings, Musin, Sprites, etc- It's also notable that this is only IRP; of course only two players can mechanically ride the steed in-game) Ologs are too large and bulky to ride the steed.

-The steed may be called for into more cramped quarters than a regular horse could due to it's spectral nature, although it is reminded that it cannot pass aurum properly nor can it be used properly in combat.
-As with other Phantom Beasts, the Steed cannot be controlled by Druids via communion- However it may be communicated with and calmed from frenzied states.

-Any of the lore applicable to Phantom Beasts is applicable to the Steadfast Steed, save for the small changes I've already mentioned.
-As the imbued saddle is a semi-physical object, it can be stolen in the same manner a regular saddle could. However, of course, this can't be done if the steed isn't actively present. (Just to clarify, the OOC item used to represent the steed that will be kept in it's owner's inventory can't be pickpocketed, as it is just to show ownership. But if the saddle is stolen in-character, the representative OOC item must be handed over.)
-Assuming it's creator actually passed on, the steed would dissipate after them from mere animal loyalty. However, this would leave the saddle (it being a semi-physical object) alone and able to be placed on any other Phantom Beast large enough to wear it; making the beast able to be used in a the same way it functioned on the steed. If this happens, the ST should be notified so that the change in mount can be noted below the MArt.
-Of course, the saddle could also be given away by it's creator; or the steed can be ordered by it's current host to follow a new master.
-As with other phantoms, the steed is weak to aurum, shamanic lutaumancy, mysticism, paladin magic, and voidal magics as well as abjuration. All of these will cause great pain to the phantom, and can injure or affect it just as these things might effect any other phantom beast. As a general rule of thumb: If it effects a phantom beast in a given way that isn't specified here, it will also effect the steed in the same manner.
-The saddle is magegold, and is in no way magically strengthened or reinforced by the ectoplasm weaved within it. It can be destroyed just as easily as a regular object made of such materials could be. It is, being made of a golden metalloid, notably more brittle than ferrum- Not to say that it's exactly fragile, but it wouldn't take any more than four or so direct hits from an average ferrum weapon to break it.
-During events, these redlines may be twisted or tweaked by event-team hosts as they see fitting!

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

The Steadfast Steed is really not that complex an MArt; but I'll admit it's a weird one at that. Essentially, the whole thing works off of two basic components: The imbued saddle, and the undead horse itself.

    =The Horse
I already have the ghostly horse as a companion of sorts for the persona, it being a Phantom Beast. (The lore for Phantom Beasts can be found
here, and a screenshot of the item I've been using to represent the horse in particular can be looked at here.) Two Phantom Beast abilities play into the MArt, those being Partial Corporeality and Beast Fade. Beast Fade is an ability that draws the Phantom Beast away from the Material World and its restricting laws, granting the creature things like incorporeality and invisibility as it draws closer to the Soulstream. In the case of this MArt, this is what lets the steed move so quickly IRP: Instead of manually moving through the Material World, the thing 'shortcuts' through the Soulstream to reach places faster. Beast Fade allows a creature temporary semi-physical form, which is important for the next part of the explanation.

    =The Saddle
The saddle is one that was made of magegold (the lore for which can be read
here if needed) and imbued with ectoplasm by its ghostly maker for the purpose of making a more physical connection with the undead steed. The Phantom Beast was already capable of manifesting temporary physicality via Partial Corporality, (and even being ridden by it's master due to their own ghostly nature) but it could not be properly and fully saddled, nor could any living passengers be taken along either. The saddle is (as aforementioned) one of magegold, a material renown for its ability to be imbued with excessive amounts of mana (as well as lacking aurum's anti-undead properties). Ghostly ectoplasm of course, is mostly comprised of such mana, and by saturating the saddle with an excess of ectoplasm it has become somewhat ghostly itself: Interacting with spectral and physical beings alike, acting as a conduit between the two and allowing mortal passengers to ride the creature as well.
