I’m pretty sure you would have to prove that the defamation has damaged you financially in order to win the lawsuit. I doubt anyone attempting to sue the server for slander would be able to do that. Additionally, in cases where the information is true, slander doesn’t apply. If staff are required to post evidence anyway then I don’t see why anyone would try to sue LOTC knowing that they can’t win and they’re just wasting their own money. Regarding the harassment, I don’t see why it would be allowed on the server to begin with, and it should be relatively easy to collect evidence and report it. Maybe if there were actually consequences for bad faith actions, bad faith actions wouldn’t be the norm on the server. I personally think the pros outweigh the cons for something like this, and I doubt it would take much effort to implement.

It feels like players are constantly lying about what other players have done in an attempt to push people away from them, and while trying to fact check a few people's claims regarding the ban reasons for different players, I found that all of the report info on it was hidden away from the general public. I don't understand why anything that isn't on the level of ERP chat logs should be hidden from the playerbase. It makes it easier for players to spread misinformation about other players, and it makes cliques more rigid because most people view anyone belonging to another clique in a bad light due to false information. On top of this, ban logs would make it much easier for people to see whether or not bias played any part in whether or not a player was banned. If we held people accountable for stuff like this, maybe it wouldn't be so commonplace on the server. I don't really see any downsides to it, and it's standard practice in a lot of places. That's just my take on it though.

I play a Hou-Zi named Yuán-Changbiao who established a village within the Iron Horde. He studies alchemy in his spare time and serves as a chieftain in the village of Jinshen. I'm searching for people to play his children and continue his legacy after he inevitably dies. Age and gender are flexible (although I obviously don't want his children to be 20 if he's only 30). His children will be raised to follow Shenjiao and may choose to follow Huajiao in the future. They will be given a chance to learn alchemy, kani, or any other skills that he learns in the future. DM lordofhindsight for more details.

New Player Looking For A Group To Roleplay With!

You should play a Hou-Zi. -
Gathering Hou-Zi The Village of Jinshen is searching for Hou-Zi from Aevos and beyond to assist in establishing a settlement where the Hou-Zi may finally be united for the first time in centuries. Whether you're a wise scholar, a fierce warrior, or cheerful tea maker, all Hou-Zi are welcome to take refuge within Jinshen. Anyone who is interested in joining the village of Jinshen may join us in our discord server. A skin may be provided if you aren't able to acquire one on your own. Additionally, if you have any questions about Hou-Zi or the Creature Application process, reach out to us in the server linked below. Jinshen Discord: https://discord.gg/UuwQhggE5x Jinshen Jinshen is a small village located within the expansive caves of Krugistan. Founded by Tao, Yuan-Changbiao, and Mu-Wei in SA 222 with the Houzi-Horde Pact, it serves as a gathering place for the Hou-Zi who have until now been scattered across Aevos and forced to assimilate with other cultures. Its name marks Jinshen as the first step towards revitalizing the Hou-Zi people and restoring the culture that has degraded over the course of centuries. The village can be seen looking over the Orcish capital of Krugistan, with its many buildings being suspended from the ceiling of its cave and illuminated by lanterns and luminescent flora. Shenjiao Shenjiao is the oldest and most popular of the Hou-Zi religions, though following one does not exclude a person from simultaneously following another. It is sponsored by the village of Jinshen, and all other religions are practiced on an individual level. According to Shenjiao, the Jade Empire of old never collapsed. Instead, it simply ascended to the heavenly realm with its emperor, Hou-Shen. Those who are devoted to Hou-Shen and honor their ancestors will soon join them in a realm of comfort, peace, and prosperity. Its spirits are split into three tiers. The Shuyuan The Shuyuan (书院) serves as a central hub of knowledge to the people of Jinshen. It is managed by the Jiaoyuan, people who have mastered one or many disciplines. The primary responsibility of the Jiaoyuan is to hold public classes for the residents of Jinshen. These classes can cover a wide variety of subjects such as language, culture, cuisine, craftsmanship, theology, and anything else deemed worthy of studying. Aside from hosting classes, the Jiaoyuan may also be asked to conduct research in their area of expertise and to oversee scholarly debates within the Shuyuan. Jinshen Cuisine The people of Jinshen enjoy the taste of fruits above all else, and so they have developed a palette that reflects this. Many of their favorite dishes, drinks, and delicacies include fruit as their main ingredients, although they have also begun to incorporate grain and rice into their diet. While meat isn’t completely off the menu, it is typically relegated to a side dish or minor ingredient and meant to elevate the flavor of the fruit that it has been paired with. Tribes Within the Hou-Zi, there are many tribes. These tribes are large bloodlines with strong familial bonds, typically led by a Jiazhu. Each has its own pantheon consisting of the tribe’s most notable ancestors. Members of a tribe often make offerings to these ancestral spirits for requests deemed too trivial for Hou-Shen and his three sons. It may be possible for one to be adopted into a tribe. However, it is a long and tedious process that requires many rituals and is generally only a last resort used to spare a dying tribe.

I feel like something should also be said about people forcing themselves to write more than they have to. There are people who will spend 15-20 minutes forcing themselves to write 1-2 paragraphs in a situation where it isn't necessary, and they have a difficult time doing so because the context doesn't warrant such a lengthy response. Additionally, a lot of the actions in these posts are just out-of-place filler text that don't help to convey information at all. The time that they spend coming up with an emote makes the people they're RPing with more inclined to tab out and shift their focus away from the RP, and so a scene that should only take an hour can drag on for 3. Obviously I'm not saying we should be seeing consistent one-liners either. Most of the time the context should at least allow you to write some dialogue and include actions/body language that help convey how your character is feeling, but if you can convey the intended message in a few sentences instead of a paragraph, you should do so.

I can't speak for others, but if I have larger plans for my persona, they've seen no development/made no connections, and their death is spontaneous and unrelated to their goals, I may choose not to PK them. I would have already made a persona with an objective in mind, and it would be weird to completely stop it before I've even started working towards it.

I've been on this server for a while now, but it feels like it's getting harder and harder to find RP. I constantly have to switch between 7 different cities in order to find RP outside of the general group of players that I've found myself in. I'm looking to play a new character, preferably one that's considerably different from my other personas, with connections to a different group of people. I'm not super picky, though most characters I play somehow get pushed towards alchemy and combat one way or another, so I think I'd like to avoid these two things. My discord user is lordofhindsight/Epimetheus.

This is how I’ve seen people spell it, so it’s what I’ve been using. Probably just an error that went unchecked for a while and spread quickly.

I've been on the server for a while, but this is something I've never really tried before (probably because most of these were shelved when I joined). I'm looking to play some kind of spook/darkspawn and preferably join some kind of group. I'm up for almost anything. No real reason for me to be picky with how empty the server can feel at times. DMing lordofhindsight on discord is the fastest way to reach me, although I'll also be checking the forums occasionally.

I agree with the fact that vastly different races/cultures should be able have their own city(realm if they don't have cities as vassals), but there should be activity requirements, and we don't need a separate realm for races, subraces, and cultures that aren't too different from each other. I can count 11 human cities if you include Lurin. I don't really see why Waldenians and Reinmarens need to separate from Aaun, as felt as if Aaun was either miscellaneous or primarily Waldenian to begin with. I also wouldn't understand why subraces of orcs would need to separate, though I'm not familiar enough with those to say with 100% certainty that they shouldn't be separated. Oyashiman are a lot different from Waldenians and most other human cultures though, so I believe they should be able to have their own city. These are just some examples though. If we gave every race and culture, even the ones that are similar, their own claim, we'd only make the problem worse. A live dynmap that gives us the locations of players who aren't using the /hide command would make this much more viable though. It would get rid of the need for centralized RP and make it much easier to find people to RP with. Those are just my thoughts though.
-
Regardless of your stances on whether or not people should be able to keep making human settlements though, I still don't see why a dynmap people can use to find RP would be a bad idea if the /hide feature is enabled. It would solve the issue of RP being difficult to find while at the same time avoid removing the ability to form new settlements. The closest thing you can do is make an srequest and ask for realm activity, but that's not even that accurate(I was told Haelu'nor and Celia'nor had the most activity, went to both via ss pillars to find out Celia'nor had 2 people and Haelu'nor was completely empty at a time when there were 80 people on the server). And yes, it might be possible to centralize through RP, but hardly anyone is willing to try. This post isn't entirely focused on staff intervention(even though most of my solutions revolve around that). The goal was just to convince people to start making human RP much denser on Aevos instead of waiting until the next continent like they always do. My "solutions" were genuine suggestions on how to solve the issue based on my own thoughts, but they were mostly there so this didn't turn into another complaint without substance and would instead spark an actual discussion on how to deal with the issue. I do hope people leading human nations start keeping their vassals within sight though, as it would definitely somewhat help the issue if you didn't need to spend an hour traveling to only half of the human settlements. And if you guys have better solutions, it'd probably be a good idea to mention and discuss them.

Hello. I don't make these types of posts often, but after seeing the difference between human nations and elven nations, I figured I should bring this up. The elves have 3 settlements, and two of them are primarily for an elven sub-race with a high population. It is incredibly easy to find RP in these nations given you log on at a good time. The people are active, and the population is dense. On the other hand, humans have an absurd number of settlements that I won't even try to count(a lot of them aren't even on the CT pillar list), and their population is spread thin across these. Despite this, we still have humans trying to build new settlements *cough* Reinmar *cough*. No hate to them(I play one of them), they just make a good example. Wouldn't it be smarter to instead merge for the sake of RP? Or maybe staff can add a limit to the number of settlements per race? Another potential solution would be to create a public map that displays the locations of players in order to make finding RP easier, with an option to opt out of it if you don't want your location to be made public for the sake of avoiding metagamers. We had this issue on a few other continents as well, and it only seems to be getting worse. The end of the pandemic is definitely a huge part of this, but 150 players is still a lot. There is no reason for you to have trouble finding people to RP with when 150 players are on the server. If we don't do anything to fix this, it will persist into the next continent as well. There's no point in waiting until then to fix these issues if doing so hasn't helped us in the past. I just feel like making all of these human nations, most of which aren't even that different from one another, creates an unhealthy environment that makes it much harder to find RP. And even with different cultures, its always possible to have different communities within a nation/city. With the option to form new realms taken away, internal conflicts and coups would be encouraged. This might also help newer players who haven't yet joined a community. If you can't find RP after traveling to 6-7 cities, why would you stay on the server? Obviously this isn't exclusive to humans, but the issue is most evident with them. Sorry for the rant. I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this as well, whether they agree or disagree.
