  1. Love the use of and. I was only using ^ arrows to try and put some longform sentences in place. I like throwing in words here and there, but we are getting to the stage of creating sentences and therefore need punctuation. But I love the confusing use of 'and', I think its perfect.
  2. I'm looking forward to getting started on my research. Any ideas for the best way to get volunteers for interviews? This will of course have to wait until the HQ is setup to a working standard, which from what I saw will not be far off. There is still the problem of the term 'Master'. It is not allowed. I have been using the name OSRT_Researcher_Elindor for research based activities because the official title is not allowed.
  3. I know that it won't have much use. But seen as we have to write everything that is said, I thought some form of punctuation for pauses would be usefeul.
  4. A new suffix: -yem (-hyem) changes the meaning of an action word to a repetition of the action. Omenta means "meet" becomes omentahyem meaning "meet again". Can be used as lye tenna omentahyem for "until we meet again." If you would like to extend the common saying... lye tenna omentahyem ^ame nae'leh evareh. Words that have been translated at this stage are mostly nouns as they are easiest to translate. Therefore the use of this suffix is limited until more verbs are discovered. ^ is the equivalent of a semi-colon (;) as the english colon (:) works in one direction, the ancient elvish equivalent < and > can refer to lists both before and after the ownership statement. Example: Many things are bad to eat> poisonous mushrooms, a pie you haven't bought, fire. Works in reverse as: Poisonous mushrooms, a pie you haven't bought, fire< many things are bad to eat.
  5. The title "Master" can't be used. Researchers should be given another name to be identified by.
  6. If you're really PRing then you wouldn't be in this forum because you wouldn't know it existed. META!!! Burn the witch!!!
  7. MC Name: Jerry_Man RP Name: Elindor Why do You Want To Join: I'm a historian, a scribe with the Aegean Academy and a Ranger of the Forest, but through all these things I have been drawn by a force unknown to me to the wholes in theology between what once was in the Ancient History and what we now live. God is not gone, we have simply lost the ability to sense Him. I wish to conduct research on Undead spirituality so that we can learn of our own souls through the contrasts and similarities. What Lab Are You Looking Into: Souls
  8. I think a huge help would be in understanding sentence structures. I beleive that the first word is normally the subject...? and the last word is the ownership...? And somewhere in there is a connection between the owner and the subject. i.e. That dog has a puffy tail: Puffy tail has that dog Its not like yoda, it just might appear a bit that way.
  9. So for everyone who still needs breastfeeding. That's Saturday Morning 9am in Aus with daylight savings (GMT+11) which is Friday Night 5pm in US EST (GMT-5) and Friday Night 11pm in UK (GMT+1)
  10. OOC:Been struggling to bounce between posts. There's more on the original post by Sting than what is here. Could you please update this post to include a whole bunch more words and phrases that have already been assembled, many by yourself. I'm chasing a comprehensive guide to elvish that I don't have to have 2 browsers open to use. Would like to suggest a few things. Take it or leave it, but as in character I've been trying to adopt using ancient elven words, there's some that I would find useful. Vileyah: Respectful noun for woman. For ladies of nobility or dear friends. Hiylu'evar: Traditional greeting. Doubles as a blessing with the assumption that the receiver has been kept healthy in body and spirit. Sirame (with rolling 'r'): Honour and connection to the forest. It is unwise to offend an elf's sirame. Hileia: peace I'm also having a little trouble piecing together sentences. Would this be correct. omenta'lye tenna ento ame nae'leh evareh meaning Until next we meet may the forest protect your spirit
  11. You have to at least try and make it easy for us to figure out. I have no idea what timezone England is. So could everyone figure out what GMT number they are, seen as that is the WORLD time standard, so that it is easier to compute.
  12. 9am is easier. Are you on daylight savings? or 9am normal time. DS just started. Its Saturday morning in Australia, see Conordude's post at the top of the page for other times
  13. Well, let me know. [OOC] I have a book that I will write in-game when I have the catalyst to do so, otherwise its just Meta. The book is a resotration (and rewording) of a Kurgmar arena story by someone in a group of bandits. It's a fun story.
  14. *Seeing the note, Elindor quickly copies down details in a tattered old journal. He tears a blank page out and pins it to the board, writing with a hurried scribble:* Name: Jerry_Man Reason for joining: For the ecstasy of learning, digesting and sharing what knowledge reveals itself to me. To fill in the spaces of Aegis' records and make public the unknowns that lie beneath us. Field of interest: Writing, but where we required I could be called upon for the finer details of an excavation. ((If I deem a small detail would help in recreating lore or if there are not enough helpers)) Slightly unrelated to archaeology but to writing none the less, I have an interest in social psychology and theology. How much writing experience do your posess: I have written a number of books myself, some which I am beginning to circulate through libraries now. Of particular note is my collection of Lore transcribing the roots of Halfbloods (mixed races), and more recently my diagnosis of the spiritual pillars of Iblees. I expect to write more on this topic shortly, as the event of running into a controller of thunder has left me with newly open eyes, but shaken and unable to take to pen. How familliar are you with the Aegis lore: [OOC] I've read all the official lore at least once and have read every book in a couple libraries. There are severe gaps in the recorded history of Aegis that I would like to amend, save finding the missing links in the meantime.
  15. Then wood you shall have. My character is holding 3 stacks of bookshelf, I didn't want to leave it in the chest just in case. There's also about 42, maybe, in the chest. If you need more bookshelf let me know. I'll probably just make some more today anyway.
  16. I don't think there's any point taking on new applications for people (like me) who just joined. I'm happy to have been accepted and would gladly start working, but while swordsman lvling up is not working there's no way of being lvl 30. You shouldn't become leniant on the swords levels either, I think there's a good reason you seek skilled characters.
  17. What room will be best for storing the paper? There's a few empty ones so I'll probably just try and nab one of them, but I'd rather have an official record-keeping room/library/bookstore storage area organised now, rather than constantly moving the books. I'm there NOW, will be back again soon.
  18. ((Holy Crap do I want to help with this)) RP name: Elindor In Game Name: Jerry_Man Race: Elf Historian or excavator? ((lore/history writer or builder)): I am not much of an architect, but I have a love of history, ancient stories and forgotten lore. Main job or extra job?: Extra Job. My main job is mostly just wandering and learning, [until I become the Aegean Academy's scribe of course ;) ] Describe what you would do in this guild, what do you look forward to?: I want to tell stories of forgotten civilisations and discover missing chunks of history ((also to help build the wiki's history so that future players can see a chronological timeline of ancient events, if they so desire)) ((I'd also like to experiment with creating a sub-story that would lead players from libraries to palaces to ancient dig sites and back again to get to the bottom of the mystery))
  19. The site looks great. Although I do have to bring up the concern of talking distance. There will always be a possibillity of more than one class operating at the same time, especially if professors organise their own class times and run it by the administrator to book rooms (as in my job as scribe :D) there will remain a risk of an orc discussing a history lesson in broken language with a simultaneous elvish cooking class. I'm assuming that these are more preliminary than anything and the new map will be a bit larger.
  20. I would like to help out making books if you like. I have applied for the role of Scribe/Assistant for the Aegean Academy and would like to start sooner, rather than just when it is all set up. However, I don't know where the Academy is.
  21. IMPORTANT The Academy will be coming back in full swing soon. Expected subjects will be: World History: Events that shaped Aegis Diplomacy: National History, Religeon, Cultures Aegean Economy and Making Money Laws and Wars: Criminal Law and Battle Tactics Students please apply below. If you are interested in being a professor or on the teaching staff please PM me with details of who you are in-game, what you are experienced in and what you would like to do.
  22. While I am much anticipating the opening of the Academy for my own education, I would like to propose a partidular course that I feel is a growing concern. Basic Diplomacy. The course would be four classes on a different race each time, a guest representative from each race coming in to help run the class (preferably someone of high standing). It would give a quick history of the race, specifically events that would affect their relationships with other races, and go on to explain mannerisms and personality traits that are sometimes lost in translation to the inexperienced. As well as being an opportunity to workshop difficult conversations and conflict resolutions it would be a good opportunity to meet important people in Aegis. I hope you like this idea as I feel it is highly necessary, particularly as the need to forget our differences and unite against the undead rises.
  23. You shouldn't need an Villain App. Working as a servant under someone else means you do whatever they say and can therefore do AV acts, so long as the Master is taking the rap for it.
