  1. Voidal Translocation Amendment - Void Pocket

    Preface

Recently upon evaluating current lore for translocation, I believe one part of the magic has been neglected to be updated from its prior nerf. As it currently stands void pocket is explained in simple terms below:

    Quote

Connection -> Create Anchor and focus on the desired object impending / x amount of scale emotes -> Deconstruct/Reconstruct.

Though with the simple explanation comes with another specifying what x is,

    Quote

Deconstructing/Reconstructing an item with over the size of a handheld object requires the caster to add an additional emote to double the potential size, with a maximum of four cubic meters to be stored. Storing a beachball sized object requires 2 additional emotes, a cubic meter requiring three, 2 cubic meters requiring four and 4 cubic meters requiring five.

Looking over the steps to reconstruct/deconstruct, if you want to reconstruct an item one block in size - for example a chair. You have to spend 5 full emotes to summon it if it fits within a 'one cubic meter'.

For an example of an image, five emotes from connection you summon:

    wJRkSbW.png

If you want the chair to have a full back (door block/banner), this will count as two cubic meters as it takes a secondary block requiring seven emotes in total from connection.

    bVcqdzL.png

I do not believe with the current iteration of void-pocket many have looked into the specifics to which my amendment comes in.

My ammendment will come in two parts to decrease the emote count required and as well as increasing the overal item you can store in a void pocket, as that chair two cubic meters is the peak.

    Amendment

    1)

    Old

Deconstructing/Reconstructing an item with over the size of a handheld object requires the caster to add an additional emote to double the potential size, with a maximum of four cubic meters to be stored. Storing a beachball sized object requires 2 additional emotes, a cubic meter requiring three, 2 cubic meters requiring four and 4 cubic meters requiring five.

    New

Deconstructing/Reconstructing an item with over the size of a one cubic meter from T3, requires an additional emote to conjure for T4, or two additional emotes for T5. The more space conjured the more exhaustion one takes. For every additional cubic meter taken past the first, it removes a deconstruction/reconstruction counter from your maximum amount. For example, summoning a chair which takes two cubic meters, will put you two deconstruction/reconstruction down instead of one.

    2)

    Old

T1: Max Size of a handheld object, Max 5 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T2: Max Size of a beach ball, Max 6 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T3: Max Size of 1 cubic meter, Max 8 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T4: Max Size of 2 cubic meters, Max 10 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T5: Max Size of 4 cubic meters, Max 12 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

    New

T1: Max Size of a handheld object, Max 5 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T2: Max Size of a beach ball, Max 6 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T3: Max Size of 1 cubic meter, Max 8 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T4: Max Size of 2³ cubic meters, Max 10 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

T5: Max Size of 3³ cubic meters, Max 12 deconstruction/reconstructions before exhaustion.

    Reasoning

The reasoning behind the amendment outside of the preface would offer more balance and opportunity to see void-pocket utilized more in a fashion of roleplay while offering a nice counter balance and larger items to be stored. For example, a T5 transfigurationist will within five emotes (Including connection), can deconstruct/reconstruct small furniture based items. With full utitlization the space taken from the image below is, 8 cubic meters total. Which takes 8 exhaustion ticks in total, so you may deconstruct or reconstruct the item, until recovery.

    BZDWR4o.png

I believe this offers a steady update and offers balance to translocation - void pocket, without putting the magic over-the-edge with spell use as it'll utilize more exhaustion counters.

The realization of T5 having access to 27 blocks, which would require more exhaustion counters that a singular mage has access to at a given time, would require circling to get to that amount. Which can be done outside of events, or within an obelisk+ that reduces your exhaustion lost by half, getting you closer to that number.

    Quote

Voidal mages may find Obelisks to act as a sort of Battery, allowing themselves to siphon mana into their reserves, though by no means replenishing it - adding a fortification, or resilience, to their manapool while casting- exhausting themselves at a twice-slower pace.

  2. Confectionary Alchemy Vol 2

Confectionary Alchemy is adapted alchemical ingredients through the mix of symbols or signs to procure differently and obscure effects when matched with food, be it for the consumer's delight or the vanquishment of foes, both through colourful delights.

The discovery of confectionary alchemy resides solely with Evo’lur Tartarus, a mali’aheral who through the works of desired baking and mixing ingredients with alchemy, he believes he created the next philosopher's stone, although in this case it would be the foodosophers stone, being that of Alchemists Sugar. Utilising it in the mixtures below to try and encourage coercion between his creation and food delights through crazy experimentation. The particular batch of alchemy below were created within the mages guild baking area through many trial and errors which has left it rather permanent of the taste of sugar, engrained even on the walls with the amount of mistakes and successes he has caused.

    Recipe:

    • Base: Aqua Vitae

    • 1x Endurance | ----

    • 1x Curtailment | ----

    • 1x Impediment | ----

    • 2x Freezing | ----

    • 1x Alchemist Sugar

    Creation:

A vessel filled with Aqua Vitae is put on low heat; wait till the liquid simmers before following the recipe listed. Adding in the symbols one at a time with a mixing stir. The last ingredient, Alchemist Sugar, is an essential ingredient from Confectionary Alchemy Vol 1 , When included, the mixture will turn into a soft blue which will require you to simmer for a narrative hour or wait till you see green specs start to form within the liquid.

    Effects:

Preservation Elixir or Preserving Elixir almost is as true to the name it benefits from; entrapped within the bottle is a liquid that, when mixed within perishable foods or liquids, will coax over and form a barrier-free from degradation. No food or liquid will seem to spoil when either mixed in on creation or coated across the surface when completed. The elixir doesn’t remove any taste from the perishable or liquid it entangles around; instead, it adds a secondary flavour. The minor aftertaste of wax.

    Redlines:

    • Does not need an ST signature.

    • Cannot be used on non-food. No preserving flesh/genus... gross... just regular normie food.

    • One bottle can preserve a whole batch of food/liquid.

    • The preservation will protect the food/liquid from perishing from natural degradation of time, bacteria, or anything of the sort unless magic influences it.

    Item Description:

An inconspicuous clear bottle with a listed label of ‘Preservation Elixir’ written upon it and below in smaller writing states ‘Preserves food and or liquids. The elixir has swirls of aqua and green colouring flowing through the whole vial.

[Confectionary Alchemy Vol 2 - Preserving Elixir. The alchemical allows one to preserve a whole batch of food or liquids with a single bottle, only leaving a minor wax aftertaste when consumed. This will make sure the food does not perish over time. Cannot be used to preserve anything but food/drink. Read the lore for further information.]

    Cake in a Bottle [Common - T3]

    Recipe:

    • 1x Milk

    • 1x Flour

    • 2x Eggs

    • 1x Butter

    • 2x Growth | ----

    • 1x Chaos | ----

    • 2x Alchemist Sugar

    Creation:

To begin, you first need to start the process of baking a cake, mixing in the dry ingredients, including the symbols. Start with the flour and sieve to a fine consistency before mixing Alchemist Sugar, an essential ingredient from Confectionary Alchemy Vol 1 . Slowly incorporate the symbols of Growth and Chaos until all dry ingredients are mixed thoroughly. When done, we can begin with the wet ingredients. Take the eggs and beat them until consistent and slowly add in milk and butter. When everything has been mixed together take the dry ingredients and incorporate them slowly into the wet ingredients, mixing each together. When equally mixed you want to take the glass container you want to store the cake batter and then temper it within an oven for thirty narrative minutes. You will be left with a cake in a bottle ready to expand.

    Effects:

To a baker, a cake is something easy to procure but what if it can be done in an instant? That is what the Cake in a Bottle solves, on uncorking the bottle and pouring the mixture out similar to that of a drink, a gooey mixture will slide out and congeal together and begin to form an instant cake within seconds. Simply a cake that has been prepared previously is now able to be stored in a bottle without encumbrance.

The only issue which hasn’t been able to solve however is if the vial is violently shattered, the cake mixture will expand rapidly and coax the nearest surface in a caked explosion, covering an affected radius of 2x2x2 in cake mixture. Which could be a great tool of defence covering someone in a baked good mixture which could leave them in brief shock or potential blindness depending where covered.

    Redlines:

    • Does not need an ST signature.

    • The bottled cake produces a cake as if one has just baked it fresh from the oven in an instant, toppings with cream, strawberries and all if wished.

    • The cake cannot include anything poisonous or deadly, unless the consumer has a baked cake ingredient allergy.

    • If used in combat, as described above through throwing the Cake in a Bottle, treat it as if a regular cake was thrown on someone. Except in this case in a larger area 2x2x2 radius.

    • The persevering elixir can be used to make sure the cake never goes bad in creation.

    • Cannot cause burns.

    • Has no duration. Will last until cleaned.

    Item Description:

A baker's delight, cake in a bottle! What you may observe to be a mushed up cake stored within a bottle is instead a fully ready cake ready for your consumption! On the glass encasing reads a label ‘Cake in a Bottle, pour for your delight’.

On pouring the mixture in the bottle, you will find that a pink gooey mixture flows out and begins to connect to each other before forming a soft base and continuing up into a fully fledged cake after a few seconds, still hot to the touch!

If the vial is broken in a violent succession such as throwing, it’ll explode on contact covering a 2x2x2 area in a freshly baked cake mixture, covering the area in a thick goop of cake like mixture.

[Confectionary Alchemy Vol 2 - Cake in a Bottle. When poured it makes a cake of your desire within seconds! If thrown or the mixture in the vial has a violent reaction it covers a 2x2x2 radius in cake mixture. Read the lore for further information.]

Cotton Candy Entanglement [Rare - T3]

    Recipe:

    • 2x Growth | ----

    • 1x Heat | ----

    • 1x Rigidity | ----

    • 2x Instability | ----

    • 4x Alchemist Sugar

    Creation:

A mixture of creation one needs to be careful with, if they do not wish to make a mistake and entangle themselves. Taking the symbols of rigidity and grinding them down with Alchemist Sugar, an essential ingredient from Confectionary Alchemy Vol 1. You will wait until the blue sugar mixture alters its colour to that of a lighter hue of red, before adding in the growth symbols. When thoroughly mixed, take the ingredients in a wetskin pouch and place on a boil for ten narrative minutes before removing them from the water. Once done, take the heat symbols and slowly mix with a mortar, crushing the symbols into the rest. You will notice the sugar-like mixture turns to that of a light red, pink colour with hints of blue. Take the sugar mixture and add it to a beaker rested on the stove with a lid ready. Heat the beaker and allow the sugar mixture to pop within slowly expanding itself before you add the final ingredient instability, once added quickly cover with a cork sealing the beaker/bottle. The instability will mix with the remaining symbols and expand it to encase the vial. Roll a 1d20, if you roll under a 5, the cork fails to be put on correctly and the mixture will instantly activate filling the area.

    Effects:

When the mixture collides with any surface enough to rapidly shift the instability symbols to mix further in the vial it will start a chain reaction and rapidly expand within the vial until it shatters, eventually leaving in its wake a 5x5x5 area of a fluffy, sweet confection whipped from spun sugar and gathered in a bundle around. Although the effect can leave someone ensnared, the mixture can be easily removed by pushing through/ripping the floss of confection. It is also very easily combated by liquids, dissolving almost instantly as it acts as how you would think.

While within or traversing through the cotton candy entanglement, you suffer from blindness and slowness due to the sticky mixture halving your movement speed while within if not combated. The mixture would only remain for three emotes after cast, deflating to a sticky puddle of sugar after.

    Redlines:

    • Does need an ST signature.

    • Rare Potion, need to be taught.

    • Creates a 5x5x5 ball of cotton candy/fairy floss which acts as you may imagine. Blurring your vision while within and slowing you by half your current movement.

    • Is sticky when wet. If enough liquid is present it will instead dissolve. The liquid required to dissolve would be a bucket full.

    • The ball takes two emotes to fully form and lasts for 3 emotes after expansion.

    • Can cause diabetes if eaten (potentially).

    Item Description:

A fluffy, sweet confection whipped from spun sugar and gathered in a vial, almost looking unstable as the fluff within seems heavily compressed against the glass. The compressed mixture within is unmoving viewing like a primarily pink coloured cloud with hints of blue within.

[Confectionary Alchemy Vol 2 - Cotton Candy Entanglement. When activated the vial waits for a rapid reaction to which the fluff inside will expand and shatter the glass rapidly filling an 5x5x5 area in two emotes with a cotton candy mixture. The sugar explosion can leave you blinded if entangled within and slow your movement by half while traversing, liquid will leave the mixture sticky, enough liquid will dissolve it however. Read the lore for further information.]

  3. I will admit I got confused somewhat when you're mentioning ectoplasm followed by talking about crystals as I believed this to then be a mysticism addition which limits someone to practicing mysticsm only (exception of house magery).

I read further along and as others have expressed it seems lackluster as you mentioned you're essentially locking someone to this crystal magic, essentially making a five slot magic, I assume without possibility of magic feats either.

Having a five slotted magic in this case would mean the lore should have an account and power to represent it, which the lore of this magic does not. I recommend looking into multi-slot or locked magics such as necromancy, mysticism, druidism, paladins for some examples here.

By me mentioning 'power' I am not talking about combative use, more-so talking on the abilities and what they do as it doesn't feel like it should take up anything more than a single slot of magic currently.

To the abilities themselves, they're not written in a way magic is usually written within listing mechanics and steps of process, rather with listed descriptions causing you to read multiple paragraphs scrolling up and down the page to understand the emotes required or mechanics of a direct spell, take the one quoted below for example:

    8 hours ago, VerminHunter said:

    Beryls

Emeralds and Topazes. These gemstones provide the following spells:

Shard Shot (Combative) - From the face of the Concentrate, a crystal bolt the size of that of a crossbow will form and shoot forward. An effective spell for armoured targets.

-The bolt has the exact same properties as that of a normal crossbow bolt fired from a crossbow. Same penetrative power, the same trajectory, etc.

-The bolt will form in front of the Concentrate and will shoot in the direction it is facing.

-The bolt will shoot on its own up after its formation, the spell cannot “be held” / delayed.

Alright so this is what the gem does, now lets look at how to do the ability.

    8 hours ago, VerminHunter said:

When one is imbued with the Concentrate, they can activate its magical spell. The spell is dependent on the crystal utilised. Each crystal provides 2 different effects, however only one must be chosen prior to melding, and that choice is irreversible.

Imbue with concentrate, lets now quote that. Its listed under 'melding'. So you already have some confusion here, as it isn't the direct word used.

    8 hours ago, VerminHunter said:

    Melding

To even be able to tap into the power stored within a Concentrate, the gem must be embedded into the body of the magic user-to-be through a special ritual performed by master Imbuers.

This ritual is to be held in a dark area, that also is the site of many souls or spiritual energy, such as tombs, cemeteries, and sites of ancient battles. The future Imbuer must stand within a drawn ritual circle featuring different gemstones circling around it, as well as runes pertaining to the ritual.

An aurum knife is used to carve a small hole for the gemstone to be placed into, then the master performs a spell to fully meld the Concentrate with the future spell caster. The knife must be made of aurum due to its special properties against

-Rituals must be done in the conditions described above, otherwise Melding will simply not work.

-Circle can be drawn out of any material.

-The ritual circle must feature at the minimum 8 different gemstones, placed along the perimeter of the ritual circle. Precious gemstones such as rubies, sapphires, amethysts, emeralds etc are applicable.

-Runes can be written in any language, they merely need to be words relating to the ritual such as: “Spirit,” “Gem,” “Magic,” “Power” and so on. Personal runes relating to the involved character’s personalities motivations or goals can also be inscribed for narrative effect such as “Revenge” or “Forgiveness” and so on. A minimum of 8 different runes must be present.

-The individual conducting the ritual must emote placing the gems and runes.

-Only T5 or T4 individuals may conduct a ritual, but they may not conduct the ritual upon themselves.

    -Only descendants can meld

-Melding cannot take place upon animii, atronoch, golem limbs or any other form of prosthetic limb.

So now you read, the gem required a ritual to be done to fuse the gemstone into the body for it to be activated. You don't detail the ritual out fully or give fluff which makes me believe to do the ritual, you, go to a graveyard, circle yourself with candl- gemstones and runes, cut a hole to insert gemstone, imbue with ectoplasm/mana.

    ---

I believe for this to become more clear, you should first concise down several pieces of the lore. You should explain Concentrate in its own paragraph and how it works to activate the gemstones hidden abilities, not just mentioning it in several other texts. Add flavour/detail to melding and expand upon it.

When descripting the gemstone abilities write it like a magic spell, detail the fluff on how it activates/works, essentially how you imagine it to happen. Below detail mechanics, such as ability cost - does it require focus? does the gemstone have limited uses?, how many emotes does it take?

In the case of the gemstone(s) quoted above "Beryls" firing a crossbow bolt, in techlock it mentions this takes 3 emotes, does your gemstone do the same? or are they more limited? Is it piercing or shatter on impact? What visuals are there?

It also isn't mentioned if the gemstones when concentrated require ST signing.

Well yeah, but the removing the whole auction house was complete overkill in my opinion.

Sorry, but "buying wood rp" just isn't fun. It just isn't, I'm sorry. And running around trying to get wood, cobblestone...

It's just another prime example how we de-minecraftise LOTC and reduce it to just Text-Based Roleplay with nothing else to do.

Lotc used to be a lot more then just that...

Roleplay on LOTC could be so much more.

This is a social experiment test. When the data has come in and feedback provided we will optimize the system to potentially limit the AH from selling Lore Based items so food/building mats can still be sold. Although this is up to the community.

If I'd have my voidal mage do any funky magic in a Haense court everyone see it because the eyes glow bright blue.

Flemish is right. IMO Blood magic needs a proper tell so it's not used for trolling.

You don't need to glow eyes or have visible distortion when casting void magic either, just droplet of sweat or cracking your fingers can do. Long as it is a tell and people can notice. This is all redundent however if the spell states it has more effects and stuff to cast.

    Hemorrhaging - Combative
By reaching out to the throb of genus within others users may tamper with their blood pressure, causing inconsequential bleeds from an assortment of locations.

Reading the spell description here can leads the mind to believe the ability is more powerful than at least from what people in the comments specify.

If it wasn't for that I would support the amendment change as you're clarifying it a bit more than what is written at least, nor toning down the ability strength.

  7. [Amendment] Tear - Creation Process

    Edit Purpose:

Inclusion of a redline from Mana Obelisks to Tear creation to help streamline creation of void objects, while not disregarding cooporative actions between players and allows scions to still be able to partake in void-based creation rituals.

    Redline Inclusion:

    - The presence of 1 tier 5 mage is compulsory for the creation process, however magi of a lesser tier may act as equivalents of a tier 5 magi:

Two tier 4 magi = One tier 5 magi

Two tier 3 magi = One tier 5 magi

I don’t think it needs to specifically be cardinal directions nor do the secondary warp hubs need to be inside of CT. I say we bring back the human docks, elf docks, dwarf docks, etc. from Axios so we don’t have to make CT as big.

I believe the only issue with having racial hubs like that eliminates non race settlements/nations for example if Lubba/Lurin becomes a nation. It is miscellaneous. Where would that go for your dock idea?

Plus how do you then limit FT, by allowing only nations? Or do we allow settlements?

CT doesn't have to be big to incorporate all the fast travel points.

  9. 3 minutes ago, NotEvilAtAll said:

Couldn’t we just have a smaller, easier to navigate CT design and a traditional FT hub setup instead?

If you need fast travel to get from one end of CT to the other that’s an oversized CT. I think we should just rip off the Axios CT redesign by putting the CT on an island somewhere with boat warps to relevant nations and secondary cart FT hubs.

It was more to separate a congestion of hubs in one area and which can be expanded on if needed.

I'm not asking for a large CT build but one that is thought out and ways for expansion without congestion. Separating the four main hubs to then transport you to another area of the map where you can find the right role-play location you want to go would be more ease of access and directly putting you in RP.

We can come up with a better system though I feel this one would be better then "who has the closest spot to a hub or CT to monopolise rp"

  10. To the idea of hubs I believe you can utilise the same system you have now with some changes.

Keeping the four main hubs, north, east, south and west but have them lead to a different corner of CT. In this corner will have Fast Travel points if needed to the settlements/nations in that area.

This way, it prevents players from capturing tiles round hubs, and able to put players directly to the role-play.

The magic limit is auto-alchemist, it's only if the holder/wielder is connecting to a magic or an enchantment. Summons/creations would be inherently magical by default, and would count obviously as an active spell/enchantment.

    Focusing on this,

    1) You cannot use enchantments/magic while actively using alchemy.

    - I assume you cannot prepare multiple alchemy potions at the same time? ,

    - Would an alchemy potion counts as a major action similar to enchantments/casting? As in the beholder while priming/readying a potion have limited moved an actions to represent it?
eg- Unable to attack/strike/block or move X amount of blocks while focusing?

    2) Summons/creations would be inherently magical by default, and would count obviously as an active spell/enchantment.

    - If you have a 'druid' who is communing with an animal, does this count as magical since communion doesn't have any 'cast times' and passive by default?

    Quote

When a Druid reaches Tier 5, Communion becomes a passive ability which does not require concentration and effort to maintain it is insignificant.

    - If you have a golem/atronach/alchemy man/smoggers, ext would they be able to activate or carry an activated alchemy potion?

    - If you have two people, one is a conjurationist who summons a cow. The second person not connected, placed an activated potion on said cow. Is this possible?

    - Is an Olog now unable to carry alchemist potions as they wouldn't understand how to activate them?

Mages are affected by these changes too. Alchemy potions now become inert and unusable until two emotes past the disconnection/cessation of magic from the user.

It wasn't exactly specified, what about magic specific alchemy? Eg- dark alchemy for necromancers.

If there is a spell active and youre inside of it (not the mage), eg- whirlwind from air evocation, can you activate a alchemy potion?

What of pets, if a pet has a potion, can it be activated? If the pet was a summon?

How would enchantments work with alchemy?

I can see the purpose behind the potion, but it seems like it’s too metagamey. Just being able to prove someone’s lineage gives but also removes from the whole idea of the rp behind those little noble cheating relations and such.

It basically just makes it: “ok guards cut them open we’ll see who they are related to” which at the end of the day is just kind of a cheesy way to figure out those ties IRP. It will become a case of “legal” metagaming.

Along with that chemistry in and of itself doesn’t exist because of alchemy, they are similar but not the same. Making a potion that’s just a DNA test seems modern especially when tech is pretty much capped to late medieval except for steampunk creations which still have limitations that make them seem more logical.

DNA testing is WAY too modern for the fantasy medieval setting, given irl it began in the late 1970s. If you look at techlock, its based on the IRL time periods that make up the setting we RP in and even then the farthest we go is steam power in the 1800s and only that far.

I was going to make my own comment on this but I agree with what is said above. Blood testing especially for information just gives me metagame vibes.

I don't think the potion should be approved on the basis of it.

    Nodes

In the ST we have a handful of members who deal with nodes who are often busy with a slew of other commitments, due to this, it can unfortunately take a while for node requests to be dealt with.

    1. Only one person in the node mining group needs to write an sreq, please don't put in multiple.
    2. Don't req multiple times, don't close and reopen your req, this will put you at the bottom of the list.
    3. It might be better if you made a request to plan to harvest a node and coordinate with an ST member, rather than making the req when you are trying to harvest it. This could save you and your group from sitting and waiting hours for the req to be taken.

Example: /sreq [Node] Four guys waiting to harvest this node, we have all the emotes ready.

With this section specifically, is there a system in place on if a req for harvest was made, to get locked for that group to harvest the node, if they fail the next group attempts or is it "if the group is online at the time".

Since I remember a situation of a group waiting by a node for several hours. Then got raided by another, five minutes later (after the first group lost) the node was harvested.

I believe for people that want to harvest nodes wants to know this part specifically since it does get asked a bit by several communities I speak to.

  15. This is an interesting feat from my understanding of it, though provides minimal to limited capabilities to what you get from it. I also agree that reproductive spreading is a bit strange.

Although I am always willing for more lore to be posted and expand our current roster to allow more flavourful role-play. I think this needs some more time in the kitchen and perhaps discussion with ST or other(s) for thoughts.

If this piece was proposed to get that ST feedback I hope it is sufficient to fix the issues and repost with the changes.
