An Illatian man sat in a wine and cigar shop, cigar clenched between his teeth and his feet propped against a stool below the counter in the back. Within his gloved grasp, a book- a book about a young Illatian, the irony. 

Whatever the man had read churned a scowl upon his features, coaxing recall of something the Basrid once said over half a century ago. Sneering as the Illatian echoed aloud, "The language of thieves.."

"Testa di cazzo, Basrid." Wafting a hand dismissively, the Falcone continued to peruse his book, none the wiser of the Basrid's departure.

Had Cosimo heard the news, perhaps he would be less resentful- such a meaningless grudge could be excused.. but he had not. 

Anthony Alexios Basrid had died before the two would ever reconcile whatever childish squabble Cosimo Antony Falcone had sheltered for so long.

The one-eyed Southeron received his invitation in good health. The man took a moment to read over with a placid smile, the blossom of young love bearing fruits. Though, that smile began a dissipation upon reading the festivities- canting his head as he let aloud, "What the f*** is Joja Hunting?"

“I had a hunch that place was up to no good- blatant dark practice, guised over glittering gold..” The one-eyed Southeron chided aloud, furrow brows taut as he read over the missive. “I only pray the meek are wise enough to distinguish the false promises of fix-all trinkets.”

"They don the pelt of a wolf, but it does not make them any less a sheep." Grumbled an Illatian man, creasing the missive with a disgruntled vice grip. "These 'Imperial-' elves are taking occupations and homes from hardworking Orenians!" The man slammed the response against the desk he sat at, a tantrum brooding- evident in his heavied breathing. Muttering then in a hush, the man shook his head slow, "They would do better to return to the trees they belong in.." 

An Illatian man concurred, nodding his head, "This elf has been brave enough to say what everyone has thought. Perhaps he is one of the good ones." Content, the man smiled the man's smile- awaiting the results of the impending elven inquisition.

The councilors of VERITAS wish to welcome all denizens of Almaris to celebrate the autumn’s changing leaves. With a bounty of autumnal festivities and delicacies, this upcoming Sun’s Smile, join us in the roadside village for a day of games, activities, and feasts- our first Harvest’s Festival.

COSTUME CONTEST

Come donned in your spookiest or silliest attire to celebrate the spirit of fall. Those who register their costume will be rated and the winner will be chosen by the council. 

Winner will receive a hand-painted portrait done by AMARA VERRANA, announced just before the feast is meant to commence. 

APPLE DUCKING

Take a shot at procuring a floating apple from the trough without the use of your hands. Each player gets three attempts to submerge their head in the basin to see if they may come up with a freshly plucked apple.

PUMPKIN CARVING

Carve into one of the local pumpkins from the harvest and submit your pumpkin to be declared the winner of the competition. Carve a face or a scene, whatever your artistic mind can muster.

Carver of the best submission will receive a voucher for 10 free drinks at THE LUMPY PUMPKIN, announced just before the hare hunt.

TRADE FAIRE

A chance to bring outsider flavor and wares to the Golden Vale, VERITAS offers a space for merchants to peddle their goods for the duration of the festival. Booths will cost 15 minas for the day and will be placed at the heart of the town during the festivities.

Send word to the VERITAS KEEP AVIARY if you are interested in setting up shop.

HOG RACING

VERITAS prides itself in its steeds and droves- hogs sturdy enough to ride upon. 

Choose your hog and saddle up to race your fellow competitors. 

Winner keeps their hog of choice as a companion- or can have it served up for the village to eat.

ARCHERY COMPETITION

Archers line up to take their shot at apples set at incrementing ranges. 

The marksman who can successfully pierce all (or most) of the apples will be declared the winner.

Winner will receive a ranged armament of winner choice, crafted by ALICJO VERRANA.

HARE HUNT

Rabbit season means trouble for the local farmers and their unprotected crops. Partake in helping the tradition of catching the local, speedy, menace; the hare.

THE FEAST

All are invited to enjoy the spoils of our autumnal harvest- ripe with fresh vegetables and a hunt’s bounty. A full-serving and a round of drinks on the house for all who wish to partake.

I just write. to be honest, I'm not entirely confident in everything I write, but I think that's apart of the process.

I just write stuff I'd like to read, keep it cohesive because 'the ones who make it complicated never get congratulated.'

these are copout answers I know, but my head, man. I think I draw inspiration from a lot of places that I can't exactly place, especially in the moment- it's typically an amalg of subconscious inspirations or ideas and tropes that get covered by other pieces, and I just refine them to what I like most about them.

I think it's okay to wear your influences on your sleeves, so long as you have a lot of sleeves on.

I think you've got a brilliant mind when it comes to character development and story writing. and just in general, but that's what I get to see most with you. you're not afraid to roll with the punches but you're also not afraid to put your foot down if you feel slighted and I like that.

which reminds me, everyone keeps asking what's one of my favorite lotc memories and I completely forgot that incredible patricide roleplay we had. that was one of the most meaningful and memorable moments, and if there was supposed to be a round of applause at the end of the roleplay scenario- that was the time for one. thanks for always being such a good sport. players could use your perspective more often

paladins are actually doing cool things rn. veritas got its spark, brothers of virtue is next. so hopefully I can end my character's life on a high note, leave what little of a legacy I might. but you know something is always cooking. like right now, I'm collabing with two of my favorite greentags to deliver a magnum opus event; its just a matter of watching it comes to fruition, very slowly, as all roleplay things are.

earliest memory is when they added mechanical hunger to minecraft, and I didn't have any food so I was just walking around until I found something; started dying. some guy ran up, no action emotes, no text walls, just a simple:
"sir!"
"you're dying!"
"you need to eat!"
before I could even reply, he threw me some minecraft bread. I went on the be his bodyguard, and went into the north to start helping him build his nordic inspired mead hall and village, but I had no idea what I was doing. I just remember his monster pit that was a stone's throw away, and he brought me there to teach me how to make mina.

the earliest combat instance I remember on my first character was a bandit jumping from underneath the bridge, a guy who just got his villainy app accepted. came out, trying to rob me with a bow already drawn mechanically and I had too much pride so I refused. so, CRP began. he emoted, I emoted, he told me to roll for it. I said "wtf is that?" he told me about /roll. I lost the roll by a lot. this upset me, I remember that. I was the protag, no way I could lose.

I think we went to pvp after that and I lost. so when I died, I thought I had to pk.. I did.. the end of Dofiro the dwarf.

stuck between a few favorite relationships:
the first that comes to mind is my paladin student, [redacted to protect his identity].
he's like the son that alicjo never had. can always count on him for anything. finally strokes my ego enough to make my character feel important, and the guy who plays the student was such a good pick. couldn't have asked for someone who cares to see the magic and culture thrive so much as he does, and my character really appreciates that.

the second was my character's teacher, [also redacted to protect his identity].

those two became brothers long before alicjo 'walked the path.' they fought inferi together, founded a merc group together, and had a final showdown inside of the paladin chancery after he went coo coo, like a true naruto and sasuke. (miss you bro :( )

honorable mention: cosimo and viktor. them boys grew up together, mischief in all forms. viktor knew so much about cosimo and never snitched. then he ******* died in ando alur, leaving my character torn. so much so, he's going out of his way to bring his friend back from his peaceful eternal rest. real friends. how many of us?

toughie. I have a lot of half cracked ideas. a lot of ideas I wanna see come into fruition; namely, I wanna see veritas pop how it was intended when we founded it. the brothers of virtue revival coming soon, all of that.

I've got 3 ideas on standby, a fourth in the works. I've no worry I'll do some cool things in my tenure as ST, but ask me again in 2 months, I hope my answer is still the same.

I played a dwarf first, the only black dwarf in history. he looks an awful lot like my human paladin now, if I'm honest with you. then I played an orc who got killed by a dwarf for having greenskin.

I did have another MC name, though. just look me up if you're curious, embarrassed to share.. I doubt you'd recognize it though, I didn't do anything except guard RP and die.

I think you're a funny guy with big ideas and good takes. when you aren't goofing and gaffing, you can be really profound and insightful and I always appreciate the 'banter we chat' (had to make it british so you could understand.) 

sometimes I think you know better but choose wrong for laughs, and it is funny so at least there's that. but I know you're capable of buckling down professionally when you need to because I've seen it. from devious trickster to problem solver in a switch, and I appreciate that about you. you never take things too seriously unless they're serious. that joviality is admirable, but don't stir the pot more than it needs to. didn't mean to get so interpersonal but I love you and don't want to watch hatred consume you so give love a try!

see my response to raine for a more complete answer but it's a big mix of things. I like a lot of media and what I appreciate most is the nuance and the feeling it can draw. I try to do the same in my writing, taking elements I really like from all different pieces to make something new from it. you'll see nods to things, even more contemporary things for how I like to develop my characters; nods to ideals they might adopt from tv show anti-heroes.

Bathrugman’s metal gear solid event, when we snuck into the inferi camp and gathered intel. the same one where I accidentally burned that caravan of kids. it was just special to feel like what we were doing had serious consequence, a serious effect. It took a lot of planning and it was so dope to see the plan come to life. The closet I’ve gotten (and ever want to be) to real war

alicjo was supposed to be a seafaring ruffian, now he’s an old war vet paladin. cosimo was just supposed to be a corrupt mobster who rigged horse races for financial gain, and you know where he is now. I wouldn’t change a thing about their growth, that’s been the most authentic change I could’ve asked for. 
 

the azdrazi inquisition plus the fat  bounty on my boy. this is why we do it, winners always gotta have haters. 
 

think I’ve harped on it a bit but the aversion to conflict. the NEED to win. the refusal to acknowledge your character as just a person in the world, rather, the main character in everyone’s story. it’s obnoxious when someone has an explanation for why their character is so good at everything. the aversion to remain grounded in reality; I know this is a fantasy game but the laws of physics still apply. people still have feelings, and don’t immediately start looting corpses in burning camps after 5 of they just watched their friends die

a lot of my favorite films are one offs, like the warriors, american psycho, or sorry to bother you. oftentimes, sequels are poorly done cashgrabs and it’s obvious and insulting.

in aegis, it was just me and some guy who saved me from mechanical starvation, and we slayed mobs together. There was this old merc group that never let me join, so when I came back, I vowed to start my own.

I really appreciate anything low fantasy. “grimdark” if I’m feeling edgy, but I absolutely love fantasy that’s grounded in realism. hard to pinpoint an exact reference, but if you pay attention to the events I run, a lot of them are warcraft based. 
 

I can’t read because I’m not a nerd, but ecosystems: more specifically void hallows :drool: I know that’s a boring pick, but that’s the kind of sh*t that makes the world start to come alive. 

favorite book is a non-fictional piece, huey newton’s revolutionary suicide. perhaps a strange fella to admire but there’s value.  

I wouldn’t write lore. maybe, but probably not. Kujo and I started but what is required is a bit intense, guidelines are pretty stringent and the chances of getting anything complex are slim to none. I’d rather not. Maybe I’ll write some creature pieces for the ETs and players but nah. 
 

most meaningful brought a tear to my eye, and I’m a grown man who repressed emotion so it’s not easy: my character just took like 6 years to run to Mexico in order to escape the jaws of justice, and when he came back, his aunt was the first person he saw. minty did a really good job of playing a mother figure who missed their child. think it made me think of my mom and the fact I need to call her

man. I should’ve had this answer prepared. uuh, favorite memory? It’s so hard to pinpoint man. any moment that makes me giddy like a little kid in a VC, really. clapping and giggling, smiling ear to ear, the things that make me want to continue the arcs I’m following. the most recent of these was ryloth’s character putting out a 2,000 mina bounty for mine. never felt more alive.

I actually wanted to write a post rambling about a few things; namely the player base in aversion to RP conflict and tendency to be d*ckheads OOCly instead. this is minecraft. it’s a video game. your character can and should die one day. your titles mean nothing. It’s okay for you and other people to have fun. It’s okay to lose sometime. It’s okay not to win all the time. 
 

It was COVID and I wanted to play DND but my friends were wasting time. And somehow I was reminded of LOTC. Surprised it was still so active, and it was cool to see how much it grew

What is one of your favorite characters that you've interacted with on the server?

I had a therapist character for a bit. He was revolutionizing the way mental health was approached in Orenian medical studies but moreover, it served as a checkpoint for people to really get in touch with the way their characters were thinking, what their characters were dealing with. really made the players think, and also made me get interpersonal, tap into my people skills and limited psychological studies knowledge. I got uninspired though, let him die on the shelf. 
 

started a new job today, boring stuff. but exciting all the same. I like money and having money :)

I always have really vivid dreams, always taking place in some strange dalíesque universe. but the ones that stick with me the most are the ones grounded in reality. been watching squid game, so I had a dream about this Asia-based freemason/Illuminati group that I was so close to cracking the code on before my brother’s dog woke me up to let her out. wish I finished that one.. would’ve escaped the matrix. 
 

I think Jack, the first paladin. he’s got a lot of history and understanding of the universe. and hes humble. I hate characters that are full of themselves, as well as players that are full of their character. It’s always a breath of fresh air to interact with him, and I always hope my paladin ends up like this in some way

youre a sweet pea, unbaed. I’m grateful we’ve fallen into the small intersects that we have because its sorta hard to find people you can get on easy with sometimes. differing ideals regarding what’s fun for everyone and I think you embody that. You’re a caring, thoughtful and non-problematic person and I think that’s really evident and I like having people like that around in the community to juxtapose whats sort of normal in these parts

It’s hard to nail one specific answer down for this, really. But the immediate answer I think of makes me feel like a high school football player who’s biggest accomplishment was scoring a game winning touchdown that one time, because I think about my character’s war days in the inferi war.

the days before staff, days before oren, and really the days before I started using a lot of discord to orchestrate anything really.  

just rawdog, log in, rp saving a bunch of slaves while almost dying and then log out feeling like I genuinely  accomplished in the video game

If you’re wondering why you’ve never heard of me though, it’s because I haven’t played for ten years.

When I signed up in Aegis, I thought you had to PK on death (mechanical included) so I did— twice. In the span of two weeks. So I quit for nine years because I didn’t want to make another skin.

ALICJO VERRANA took a moment to peruse over the bounty, letting forth a snort of amusement- reading again. Perhaps he had not expected to see his name advertised so boldly, but it coaxed a smirk all the same.

The man plucked one of the missives from the board, "Quite the reward, though." He admitted aloud with a tipping head and contemplative features, as if for a moment, even he considered turning in himself. 

He held the missive against his wall, jutting a pin through it to hang it up- a proud smirk.
