  1. The Pursuit of Immortality Written by Vincent Divine, Scholar Intrigue, “The world is a vast realm full of undiscovered portions of knowledge, research, and mystery. I am a young Scholar. Most individuals of my age and stature would prefer enlisting in the military and combating the foes that threaten their homeland. I, however, believe in others ideals and also ways of life. Nobility of many nations tend to their own needs rather than the people. That is how it is, and most likely how it shall be. I have devoted my time towards my intricate studies to further the development of Asulonian research and knowledge. I have also questioned the world and its' secrets as they intrigue me beyond comprehension. When people approach me in the streets, they often inquire of my profession. I tell them I am Scholar, and that I seek out knowledge. What they do not know, is my undying thirst for mystery and power. I am not a general, a soldier, or a wizard-- no. Discretely, I dedicate time towards determine other rather pressing topics, such as Immortality or... even Death. Can one avoid Death? The common answer is no, as it should be. We have not studied death enough to determine a precise answer, as it is perhaps one of the most questioned topics of this milennia and since our very existence. I have been recently studying death in its' true form, by often studying graveyards, places of rest, and even catacombs. Such places are empty. What once was a person, is now a motionless corpse. Our internal organs and such are decomposed from death. I direct my point of study towards the late Eze'kiel Tarus, my once valiant lord. I served him as a Steward, he was an incredibly noble man – but also quite mysterious, and I firmly believe he held extensive secrets to the point of his passing. After closer examination, I uncovered several tomes from his estate, one being a rather particular one called 'Horen's Bane'. While I looked into the said topic, I later dropped it entirely.” Inquiry, “In order to uncover the secrets of Immortality, one must first unravel the mystery of death, the opposite of Immortality – Mortality. Death is ineluctable in that, once you have endured a state of no return, there is no going back. I began the study of death by researching medicine. Medicine is a field that is devoted towards the immediate recovery of one's body by using reagents or other forms of herbs or mechanisms that trigger the healing process. Medicine, which is often used to combat disease and disarray, is widely used by healers. Of course, there are wizards who possess the powers of healing, for which can mend the wounds of many by using intensive focus and channeling of one's energy – though it is not a topic I have studied with interest... While medicine can heal oneself, it cannot prevent death – but merely delays it. There is no physical reagent that could stop death from occurring – no. It would have to be a quality or object possessing incredible amounts of magical power. Wizards obviously must have looked into the topic, but do not wish to tamper with it. If one approached one and questioned of the possibility of Immortality, they would most likely remark you as foolish and illiterate. I have heard of the recent formation of inquisitive magical groups, but I dare not seek them out... Death itself is feared, but one must not fear it and accept it in their own. One of the most widely used theories for Immortality is the Fountain of Youth, an incredibly mythical aspect of society. I will continue with my theories in the next section.” Extinct, “According to modern day history and research, the Undead had certain knowledge of Immortality, and most likely tampered with the condition itself. Unfortunately, such sorcerers are now sealed away, at least it is what we believe...” Concluding Thoughts, “I not dare tamper with such dangerous tomes. After looking further into the topic, I've decided I will simply steer away from this pursuit. I am Scholar, not an explorer. As for exploration, I'd rather stay in my isolated home away from society. Solitude is better then losing my life in such a trek. From this experience, I advise others to do the same. Do not tamper with mysterious travesties, let them occur. It is better do let them happen then to lose one's life...”
  2. You cannot simply apply and become a mage. Successful mages take years in RP to learn magic. Your character must have a knowledge of magic before applying as well..
  3. Server overload, mainly because of people in Arethor. That's your explanation.

  4. * Hundreds of fliers are pinned around various settlements throughout Asulon. There is a very good chance as you pass by or through any settlement you come across one. They bare a familiar seal, with an imprint of a white and red key to the header. * Seeking any and all Books! "Greetings. If you happen to have any book that you would be willing to donate or sell, the Society of Scholars wishes to contact you. We are an organization that seeks to preserve knowledge and research. We have been collecting books from around Asulon and documenting them, transcribing them, and also using them for research. The books will be taken care of by scholars to the utmost highest degree. We thank you for your continued courtesy and if you would be willing to sell we will buy every book in your possession. You may send a bird or post a note below if you wish to do business. We are willing to purchase books with items, or coin. We are willing to take offers, also if you are so kind to donate books, we would be grateful. We are looking for journals, tomes, encyclopedias, anything. - V.D." ((BuildToSurvive))

    1. Aiden

      Aiden

Any idea as the amount of time required for it?

  7. Written by Vincent Divine, Kal'Karik, Mid-Asulon Sorrow Sorrow, Sorrow, Why do you have to inflict so much pain? I am sitting here questioning if I'm sane. Did he really have to die? He was once an ally, His wife was nearby, and now you're the bad guy. Don't try to lie, you've pulled that enough, we know you try to act tough. We're tired of playing this game. We're the ones that take the blame. It's such a shame... Sorrow, Sorrow, It strikes a chord in every lord. It's responsible for death, Taking every breath. Now it's claimed another life, and created more strife. Sorrow, Sorrow, When will you end? Is this an everyday trend? You've left us to defend. The world is empty, but Sorrow is spread aplenty... I've got to keep moving on, My spirit can't be gone. Hopefully you see what you've done, because now you've killed more then just one...
  8. Same as the question below. Could I have a copy of some of those books?

  9. * Coming back a few weeks later to the notice he posted, the scholar posts yet another note below it for a follow up. * "If anyone happens to have any books or unused tomes in their possession in the Cloud Temple region, the Society of Scholars is seeking out any scholar or scribe with any book, regardless of value or rarity. If you wish to donate it to our cause, please leave a note below. - V.D."
  10. The Man and the Beard.

Now I will tell you a story,

No, no, this is unlike any allegory.

Tis be a tale of a Man and a Beard,

Oh yes, this man was quite Feared.

His face was a tad pale,

    His chin was quite frail.

One day he ventured down a trail,

From there he went to sail.

    Yes, he had a tail.

    The man was pale, frail,...

  11. Unfortunately, due to such circumstances, Tarus decided to go along with the RP. It's honorable I suppose. OOCly, I have nothing against Oren. :D @King Hightower - This poem was created from an IC standpoint (My character), as he is enraged by being evicted from his estate. OOCly, I have no qualms. :P
  12. Considering the Tarus Family was practically evicted from their estate due to the Battle at Ildon like 3 days ago, I am. :3
  13. Let them come, but this piece isn't published directly into Asulon, as this is basically showing Vincent's work. lol edit: Whose to say it won't be published any time soon though? :P
  14. Written by Vincent Divine, Kal'Karik, Asulon Emperor Emperor, Emperor, Sitting on his throne Like nobody has ever known. Your People are in dismay, Your vassals have yet to pay, So let me be the first to say, Your Empire shall fall one day. Emperor, Emperor, Sitting on his throne Like nobody has ever known Crime is in the street, The people take the heat Nothing is done, Your Knights just run. Emperor, Emperor, Sitting on his throne, Like nobody has ever known Let your empire crumble, We'll be there for the fumble. Emperor, Emperor, you better watch your back, as we'll be there for the sack...
