Why would you glue something to your own body? Wouldn’t that be 10x more uncomfortable than just wearing the fur as clothing?

    fashion is pain.

Okay but for real. I love my gray-spotted leopard kha. When I Am able to come back I want to be able to RP my kha the way I always had.

Malv was my third kharajyr that I decided to play. It was during a time in Vailor were Kha weren’t exactly present on the map. The three of us founded the idea of Kharajyr going against the blessings & teachings of Metzli. Feeling that she abandoned them, each of them had different personality signifiers, and Malv’s was an egotistical outlook about himself based on creating his own kharajyr tribe. Whitening his fur with dyes (at the time we were under mechanical default so bonemeal dye worked just fine) was a way to separate himself from traditional culture and create his own thing. They were nomads.

This lore has a heavy emphasis on 2 things:

    - Kha should be normadic instead of focused on building their own nation.

    - There is a dedicated faction of Kha that do not feel represented by the faith of Metzli.

Whitening fur may cause RP issues but those issues existed 4-5 maps ago and  some of us used it to build a narrative about our specific characters. It became a strong character fault for my own character.

When you write lore about how the kha have become nomadic & how there is a faction of kha that go against the grain but then retcon characters like mine you are shutting down a potential line of activity. I picked kharajyr up and was planning to again because I have a very specific vision & history for a character. You need to start with freedom and gradually grow more specific. See what is popular and what works for the players and rally in-game behind those things.

    Freedom to roleplay.

    Freedom to choose.

Let go of a few things and see if they help. Restrictions only bottleneck your potential RPers & as you have seen here there are a few of us who are drawn to this aesthetic.

And if they don’t want to do that? Seems kind of bad form to rewrite Kha out for their stories.

as someone who also plays a white-dyed fur kha I agree. It doesn’t seem like something you can ban someone for so why make it a red line?

Naturally white kha are gone & this lore states there is a faction that forbid metzli worship & she is gone so it makes sense that some kha would try to replicate that white fur for their own weird reasons.

  3. This lore states that they originate from Humans but the sugar thing makes them seem tied toe elves.

I don’t think lore specifically states that elves have a sugar thing but it’s been roleplayed like that since Asulon.

So... each subrace correlates to one of the four descendant races.

  4. I have another point of contention. This one isn’t just with the ST!

I keep seeing players say that a CA race should be completely self-sustainable. How? Why? What?

CA races are meant to be supplementary to the rest of the server. Kharajyr tagging along with other nations is the whole point.

CA races that just RP in their own space are what we get mad about for cliche roleplay that only a few people see.

It should be celebrated that Kha are here & there. A CA nation won’t ever work because of how restricting it is to apply for one. Our activity system is also heavily against them having their own tile so setting up a Kha nation is bound to fail. You won’t ever see a Golem nation or an Olog nation either (but I’d like to see you try).

  5. The fact is that you & the ST continue to set a precedent that disrespects the core lore of the server. When a couple of players approach you asking to shelf a core race your response was to pose 2 choices for the fate of the kha

    shelf or more shelved

    Instead it should have been
“this is core lotc lore. Let’s see how we can help this function properly again.”

The Staff, especially the Story Team, seem to be obsessed with the idea that serverwide decisions that affect players past, present, and future should be decided on before communicating with the community. Stop with the ultimatums and shelving. Start being open so we can all quit shitting on each other’s shoes.

Aeriel saying she made a portal to another part of the realm in flavor text doesn’t mean we went to another plane of existance. Any descendant culture introduced in between Asulon and the Fringe would make no sense if

Yeah Aos & Eos have been canon for a very very long time. It wasn’t flavour text. This was the roleplay thousands took part in over the years.

When we RPed in Asulon that was Eos. There we met the Kharajyr & Mori’Quessir. Anthos was also Eos and that is where we met the Bohra. That section that you quoted doesn’t mean those were the only races native to Eos.
It’s commonly agreed that any descendant culture introduced in Eos was due to them finding their own way over from Aos rather than all of the descendants arriving at the same time after Asulon.

I was going to go with the mental deficiency thing, but unfortunately I believe that was something more core to CA races rather than open races. Originally, I was looking at this as a potential switch to CA race, but was convinced out of it – so removed the more hardcore mental section I had (In CA Race application, there’s a specific section on the mind).

For the cultural bit, I didn’t want to infringe on Fenn stuff as it currently is without getting some input from them on this thread. I’ll update it in a day or two with the stuff I had made throughout its history/other people had made if nobody comes forward with things to put down specifically.

Crazed snelf eventline was completely separate from the snelf movement at the time (i was there).

I like the idea a lot, actually. I’ll try to add it as best I can.

    Hear me out then-

Work to offer up a CA variant that allows your to expand on the weaknesses as well as certain abilities? Azdromoth makes Azdrazi. What is stopping Wyvrun? Or something similar if you get my meaning.

  8. So you use “the world altar” in the lore but there are virtually no consequences. Insane by 600? That’s just getting old (most elves are pretty insane by then) and that would take 10+ IRL years

They may not have changed into half-beasts via the world altar but the effects should remain the same. Mental deficiency should be a cornerstone for sundered elves from start to finish.

Was hoping you’d be bringing back some other physical effects too but I understand.
In your cultural section you cold have elaborated on unique smithing techniques, and ways that these aren’t just a replica of high elven culture.

I also think it’s a missed opportunity to not bring up the crazed snow elf event-line in Anthos. It was our very first interaction with the snow elves, despite them being no where near what we see now.

An idea to wrap up my critique is that a percentage of children born would have drastically different traits as if they were an actual sub-species so that your culture has a similar relationship that orc-goblin-olog culture has. I just think snow elves are too close to high elves to be able to survive longterm. They need something more.

If your very special CA race’s only selling point is “you can have horns” you've failed as a writer. You can’t come up with a better premise, a better motivation to roleplay something, than having horns that other people can't have? God damn.

    I don’t play Azdrazi.
Y’all are getting way too defensive about your horns. This is a public lore thread on the forums. Expect people to critique with the intention of helpIng rather than just giving you attitude on your lore because they feel like it.

Azdrazi are playing a role in the server events right now so it isn’t weird that I brought them up here. You will get mistaken as them but Malaise isn’t worried about it so that is that. No big dealio.

IDK man if there is an issue they can submit a lore revision to clarify on their lore on how their horns are, but orcs have had horns like this for years. It really isn’t that much of an issue. If you really want to focus on things being similar make a thread about mali’fenn and mali’aheral. Anyways TL;DR, horns are horns. Horns look like other horns because they are horns. They are the same word I really don’t know what else you want me to say to please you.

mali’fenn ARE mali’aheral. It’s a culture plus cosmetic changes. That doesn’t need a thread nor is it relevant to this discussion.

Don’t mistake my critique as me saying orcs shouldn’t have horns. I am well aware that they have existed for years. Orc Horns are cool. You are right though. It’s really a discussion between Azdrazi and this piece.

    @Malaise thoughts?

    no.. not really...

The old horn lore has been in place since 2017.
Also in the azdrazi lore, it states that their horns are as follow,

So you mean any horn shape would be wrong because they are “Azdrazi Horns” or?

I figured azdrazi horns were scaly & draconic looking.

The first picture in this lore looks less like goat horns and more like draconic horns so I thought adding in some way to differentiate from Azdrazi horns would be necessary.

I guess the vagueness of what qualifies as draconic type horns is a problem as well.

  12. Considering how stingy our ST can be on spells & their capabilities it is strange that only 1 person is discussing how imbalanced this spell set seems to be. Especially the minionmancy part.

(but the concept is fire. Your writing is fun to read)
