  1. Discovered by Sequoia Druid Lillith in the Fiandria Father Grove, the document reads as follows on the Druids' Grove Notice Board:

    *|~

    Callax's Will
Scribed 2nd of The Grand Harvest, 1473

I have lived a long and eventful life and I thank the Aspects for allowing my service to them to have lasted this long. There is no greater blessing I could have received than serving nature alongside all of my Druidic brethren over the past one hundred thirty years. I write this document in knowing that my time on this realm is coming to an end, and there are a few requests and acknowledgements I have to make in the sure case of my death to come.

First, I wish my staff, the Zephyr Staff, which bears the Snow Druid Circle's Stone, to go to a student of mine who hold the most pride in: Dahlia Druid Dalari. She and I have walked a long and close path together and I could only rest peacefully if my staff rested in no other hands than her own.

My beloved, long-time companion Charlie the Cockatoo is to be cared for by Elk Druid Danic. In the time I have been allowed to know Danic, I have come to greatly respect and trust him, and I know he and Charlie will get along as two peas in a pod. You will find Charlie perched at the birch desk at the top of Vernon's Point.

Also to Elk Druid Danic, I give Aren'iril, the Staff of Song. Few have known the Song Druid as long as you, Danic. Take good care of Aren'iril, but take better care of Charlie!

For many years, I have been tasked with preserving the life of the Last Sapling of the Mother Tree of Laurelin. This sapling has lived ages since Aegis and I pass the task of preserving its life on to Gi'Garun. When I retired, I did so nly because I knew I could rely on the Pine Druid to uphold the ancient culture of Druidism. Do protect the sapling well, my brother, and seek out an Elf named Kalen Forseth immediately, explaining to him this situation.

Druidic Artifact #7; The Useless Block of Coal. I had come across this large chunk of coal many years ago on my travels and noticed it's lack of usefulness. I wish for Cub Druid Gildun to take custody of this artifact. I hope that you might find this block as useless as I once did, my brother.

    To Sequoia Druid Lillith:

    Roses are red,
    Violets are blue,
    I once owned a shoe,
    And now you do, too!

I entered this Order just as you were leaving, and now you have returned just as I am leaving. I wish I had something a bit more sentimental to give you, but I suppose the shoes I wore some hundred and more years ago ought to do. These boots are those which I wore as a Dedicant. Thank you for the influence you have provided, and blessed be.

My beloved Virella, I give to you the responsibility of carrying on the stories of Hazelmere the mountain goat and becoming a skilled healer. I know that you will excel in all your aspirations. Do remember me, dear, in some way.

    ~*~

    Acknowledgements:

Apple Druid Leyun, my dear, it has been wondrous watching you ascend from Dedicant to Archdruid, and I must say that I have enjoyed serving alongside no other Archdruid greater than I have with you. Take the lessons in Druidic Healing that I have provided to you and pass them on. I would leave you with more, but I know that I cannot trust the thingummywhats which possess your hair with any more than we have already shared in the past.

To Sunshine Druid Verden, my first successful student and the greatest Druid I ever saw rise under my, and many others', tutelage, I give acknowledge to as my most favored and enjoyed student.

To Wilting Druid Giovanni, Shroom Druid Milo and Oak Druid Thudrin: out of all the Druids I've known over the past one hundred thirty years, you three are the closest brethren I've had. Together, we set a precedent of serving nature which has greatly impacted the Order.

The Song Druid, Wolf Druid Ouity, Fox Druid Valas, Ice Druid Jameson, and many other great elders of the past; I thank the lot of you for the guidance you provided to me. It is your guidance which primed me for my service to nature, and it is your guidance and wisdom I value greatly.

Resia, Naeri Evaglno, Meta Solaray, Lee Scorsby, Marty, Salamandra, and Kalen Forseth: you are all individuals who did not walk the path of Druidism, but were close in my heart nonetheless. I consider you all to have been close friends of mine at least at some point in my life and I hope that you go forward in all your beliefs which are right in nature's prosperity.

To all of those Druids I did not manage to will to or acknowledge, know that you all made an impacting difference in the life of this old buffer. The Druidic Order and the life of serving Nature made up the purpose of my life. I have no greater delight than having served Nature beside the lot of you. Do not feel at a loss, do not pity me, feel no sorrow; I will do as so many great Druids have done before and as I hope all of you will one day do. I will embrace death just as I have embraced life. I always have.

  2. Ahh, I think I see the problem. It is the result of a miscommunication I believe. Don't fret that I believe that it is unfair to restrict certain magics to certain groups because that is not what I believe and is certainly harmless.

Imagine so that you are but one simple person who wishes to learn from such a group, but there is only one, and due to some circumstances it is so that they won't teach you. You won't get this magic. But-- I figure if this person was to try as hard as they possible could to find an alternative way they are able to, but at big costs. Mostly accessibility, as there is we could say, maybe only one or two such spells that bypass groups. If a person dedicated enough time to finding this one flower spell or such (you can make up the reasoning for how as you go idc its your story) the druids could see the effort and dedication someone put in and give them second consideration.

It's like a little completely harmless little addition for some added role-play, imagine the surprise from a druid when they find out someone tried hard enough to find this one little spell, I will repeat that restricted magics are indeed restricted and will remain so until admins decide otherwise. :)

The druids themselves would not be deprived of any such role-play either, given that to learn any further they are still forced to visit you and present you with this gift.

But again, there is no other way to obtain Druidic magic than by going through the Druidic Order, hence the guild-lock on the magic. No matter how hard you "figure" someone was to try, there are NO alternate routes to obtaining Druidic magic. Someone can't "bypass" the Druidic Order to obtain our abilities (guild-lock), because of our lore. The Druids aren't a magic-hungry faction, we're a group dedicated to providing a unique kind of role-play which heavily is based on our rich cultural views.

It it not harmless. Yes, a Druid will be surprised when they find out someone obtained a Druid spell, because it's not possible. One can NOT obtain Druidic abilities without becoming a member of the Druidic Order and undergoing a ritual called "attunement" which gives them the actual ability to harness these gifts.

I honestly don't think you're understanding Druid lore, which is a "Deity-based" lore that requires an individual to undergo an in-game ritual (performed by an existing powerful Druid) to harness the gifts of nature. I would gladly explain Druidism to you; I could and would write a book (or just direct you to existing books). This is belittling our role-play by giving others any sort of access to our guild-locked abilities. It is not up to the Technicians to decide on lore. The lore is set in stone.

My final point on this post: No one person who is not an attuned Druid of the Druidic Order is able to obtain or use nature/Druid magic. It is guild-locked for a reason, after all!

  3. Druidism-related spells need to be restricted to our guild in some way. I have role-played my Druid character for many years and have put so much development into him. I know most Druids of the Order have put so much time, effort, and development into their characters as well. It is entirely no fair to a guild of our size (55-60+ people; this shows that our playerbase is by no means "small" as it is said guild-locked magic groups were), significance in our RP, history, dedication and culture to have our role-play cheapened in such a way where our magic capabilities are able to be obtained by anyone.

I understand that this plugin is to give magic users PvP significance, but no mages, Clerics, Shamans, or Shades are able to use the gifts of nature, period. But since anyone can learn the spells which are paralleled to Druidism, role-players will rise who, completely disregarding lore, have obtained the abilities that Druid role-players put so much role-play, effort, and dedication into. It is essentially LotC stabbing us in our backs with a lore-disregarding plugin that throws years of dedication and strenuous effort -since the near beginning of the server- into the toilet.

You keep claiming that keeping players from Druid magic spells is unfairly restricting them. That is so entirely wrong! You're unfairly oppressing US, tossing our years of lore and dedicated RP into the toilet, the Druid role-players! And this IS breaking lore, despite that you say it isn't! It is against lore for non-Druids to harness the gifts of nature (the gifts of nature is how we refer to nature/druid magic, in case you weren't aware).

No one besides Druids needs nature/Druid magic in combat. No one besides Druids are able to, by lore, use nature/Druid magic in combat. Therefore, what does the restriction on other players matter? By lore, hence the guild-lock, they are restricted and cannot harness Druidic abilities. So, you are, in fact, disregarding lore with, at least, this particular area of the plugin.

  4. Archdruid Callax rolls his eyes, huffing with dissatisfaction and utter annoyance. He explains to the questioning Druids and Elves present at the grove...

"The Osage Clan's tree is no Elder Tree; it's a purely unnatural abomination spawned from the void! Great Elders trees are extremely rare to come by, as they gain their sentience from millennia of growth. The one Bravepaw has not grown an Elder Tree, in fact, it is impossible for him, even with aid of his friends, to have grown such a large tree. Only a large group of powerful Druids may channel the Gifts of Nature over an extended period of time to grow what could be called an Elder Tree. No Elf of the Osage is a Druid nor do they share the connection with nature that we Druids do.

There is only one explanation: this tree he claims to have sentience and be Elder is merely a conjuration from the void. It is no different than the tricks of an arcane mage."

He concludes with his lips pursed and his head slowly shaking from side to side.

  5. Callax's right eyebrow twitches and his gaze suddenly adverts from the pages of the book he had just reached the climax of. His forehead wrinkles and he releases one hand's grip from the book, balling it into a fist and shaking it in the air. In his usual hoarse, frail voice he spits and wheezes, "Pesky thingummywots, they ge' everywhere! 'N they can't rhyme worth a dern..."

He shakes his head in disappointment and returns himself to his book, flipping to the beginning of the chapter so that he may work back into the climax.

  6. ~A message is pined carefully whilst attached to a leaf just outside the arch druid offices~

A reply is pinned on top of the previous letter, left for the sender to view upon his next visit.

    Fungi Druid,

I've found no records of your apparant banishment. I am, therefore, left to accept your presence in the grove and in the Order. If you cannot attend the next Moot, then we shall organize a conference between a couple members of the Inner Circle and yourself so that we may speak.

    Sincerely,

    Archdruid Callax

  7. Since you've hit a milestone, I ought to say something nice about you. So, I'll tell you that you are one of the greatest Druid RPers I've come across in my years as a Druid. You are also one of the most responsible, mature, and all-around great people I've met on here too.
I get persistent in trying to keep the Inner Circle active and doing their Inner Circle things, but I hope you don't hate me too much for it and understand why I do it :( . You're a Druid and an Elven leader and, really, you balance the two perfectly for your amount of responsibility. If Malinor was alive and kickin', you'd be my choice for High Princess! ^-^

A question... If Callax was a bird, what would be that one irritating line he'd always say?

Oh and, what is your favorite bird of all birds?

  8. An aged Callax's eyes jolt open from a serene session of meditation as the loss of a child of the Aspects, and an even more-so former wife, becomes apparent to him. A brief and subtle aura of grief overcomes him as another Druid goes beyond the reaches of reacquisition into the arms of Cerridwen and Cernunnos. 'May she rest in in peace somewhere, even if it not be with nature,' he thinks to himself before returning to his previous concentration.

((Well written, Vardak. A great way to die.))

  9. Jallentime has not only proven exceptional and superb role-play, but he also has shown commitment and responsibility, which are necessary for a Team position, in his role-play and with his characters and abilities. Many +1's from me.

  10. Role-play with candydeath13 hasn't exactly been superb or above-average as I'd believe role-play with an ET Actor should be. I've particularly noticed a lack of importance and necessity in some emotes including blunt emotes that didn't provide sufficient information. Role-play, in general, has been decent and sufficient for a non-ET player nonetheless.

Being on a Team takes commitment and time and the ability to cope with many frustrations (credibility to my, former, existence on the MAT). However, since you've not shown the ability to be devout and active as an Archdruid and the many important duties that come with the role, even while still having time to role-play on LoTC at all, I must not support favorably; I don't see you fit for an ET actor. My apologies. -1

  13. I know, I thought I was supposed to post this here if I was having difficulties finding one.

You are correct! And since you have, we'll do our best to accommodate RP times and such with you. Many of the Druids are in Eastern Time Zone, so we shouldn't have trouble setting up times with you. If you'd like, send me a PM on the forums of a particular day you're able to be on, and we'll find out which one of us Druids can be on with you for an interview!

  14. ((The post serves to make a couple OOC announcements regarding Druids and Druid magic that will affect Druid RP. Lacking a better place to locate this post, please stand by...))

For quite awhile now, since about the removal of the Magic system and apps, the attunement ceremony, the ceremony officially making a Dedicant a Druid, allowed an individual automatic access to use Druid magic. A change has been made to revert back to an older system.

Attunement is the moment when a Druid is finally connected to nature and the Aspects. It isn't the moment when they can use magic right off the bat; it's the moment when they have the potential to use it. Dedicancy is a period when an individual learns the way of Druidism, from the Aspects to serving Nature, while Druidism will be putting those principles to use while learning how to use "nature's gifts" or "the Aspects' blessings".

This change goes into affect from this point on. That being said, any Druids with MA's or having learned in the Druid archetype of magic can continue their practice. However, after being attuned, a Druid must seek to be taught how to learn Druid "magic" by a teacher. Anyone who is adept in the Druid subtypes and has been approved, both IC and OOC, by an Archdruid may teach other attuned Druids how to access the 'blessings of nature".

(A document shall be kept on Druids who know magic, who are learning, and who can teach soon. If you wish to teach magic, poke an Archdruid soon. If you wish to learn, seek out an experienced Druid in-game.)

    http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/90140-druidism-guide/

    ~*~

Another recent change has been made with Druidism. From this point on, no longer will the use of other magic-types break a Druid's connection to nature. In the past, when a Druid left the Order to practice some other form of magic, their attunement was said to shatter and they were no longer considered Druids. Any Druids prior to this change, and who were considered unattuned from the usage of other magic, are still unattuned. There's no redaction to Druidism for you folks due to this change.

Here are a few important notes. This does not mean we are accepting magic within the Order, nor does it mean mages will be accepted any easier than before. Also, any Druids who decide to go against Druidic beliefs and practice magic outside of Druidism will have their connection to nature (their attunement) forcibly stripped from them by the Order if and when they are discovered (You must notify the Order OOCly if you pick up magic practice). Finally, it has been taught in-game that non-Druid magic corrupts and unattunes a Druid. The knowledge on this change in only OOC, so please do not meta-game and assume your character knows Druids can wield other sorts of magic.

That will be all, thank you.
