  1. Wow, this is actually a lot harder than I imagined. Deep breath, here we go.

I have been formally asked to step down from the GM team. I haven't had  much time to get online for the past few months (two hours max) and its been decided that those hours aren't enough to both connect with the players and to do my job as a GM. To be honest, I've been writing this in my head since I lost my computer ages ago. Makes me cry every time - forgive me, I'm still a girl. I know there's bound to be cheers at this, but I only ask that you keep it out of this thread. I don't want to see that as my farewell from a server I have been doing my best for for years, both as a GM and as a player.

Here comes the really hard part. Turn on the sad music and bear with me.

I've made the decision to leave LOTC altogether. It's part of the reason that this is so very, very hard. Maybe I'll pull a Cyndikate and come back a million times but I doubt it (Don't be offended, Cyndi, you know you love LOTC as much as I do). However, I told myself awhile ago that if I was asked to step down from GMship then I would leave the server, and while it is difficult, I know that it is for the best. Hell, I am twenty years old and the only friends I have are on the other side of the computer screen. As Gaius would say, that's unhealthy, so I'm going to step back, breathe, and move on. I will also be removing myself from skype, though I'll wait for a few days so that people can say their goodbyes.

With all that said, here comes the goodbyes. To those of you who I don't speak to individually, don't worry. Most of what I have to say you is probably in the ones I'm sending to groups. I originally started with a list of forty-seven different people I wanted to say something to, but that's a bit ridiculous for my fingers, so I limited it a lot. I'm going to start by saying a few things to some of the groups that I have had the privilege to work with, as well as those that I have been a part of.

    Admin Team

To all of you in general, thank you for all the time and effort you guys put into everything about this server. I know you guys work more than you get credit for. Keep it up. This server will be in great shape before long.

    GM Team

I'm gonna miss you all so much. I have met so many friends and grown so much as a part of this team. I mean, you all have been so wonderful and I'm already crying just thinking about the fun times we've had. Remember to be friends, because cliques and fights have no place in the team. These are the people who you can trust the most, and these are the people who you can always talk to because they are some of the very few who will have any idea what you are going through. Oh and congratulations on kicking all the girls off of the team. See if you can't pull up any more to even out the manly stupidity. Don't forget to give the Admins hell and kick them off of their high horses every once in awhile. It's your job to remind them that they were players once too, and GMs.

    FM Team

Thank you all for your service and all that you guys do for the server. I have never seen such a well-cared for forum, and I know you guys all work very hard to keep it that way. You all are such a diligent team, and I like to see how well you all get along, most of the time at least. That being said, GM>FM forever.

    Tech Team

You guys are the most trusted team on this server by far, and I'm so glad to see that trust being earned so well. You guys have fantastic senses of humor too, and I've seen that a lot, even if I don't totally understand your jokes (that Tech Chat avatar... I have no idea....) You guys are going to do fine, not that you aren't already, but I can see only good from here on out, even if there is stress. I'll miss you guys, and your awesome plugin work.

    Event Team

You guys have the best job on the server by far! The most fun I have had as a member of the staff is doing events. You guys get to have a ton of fun and drag a bunch of players along with you. I know that we've had some rough patches, but I promise I give you incredible amounts of respect. I know you guys will come back from your break shining. Good luck!

    Lore Team

You guys are awesome! I love how you all have your own little clique of friends over there in the Lore chats. I can tell, you guys work together like clockwork. It's incredible to me, it really is, and I think all the other staff teams can certainly learn something from how close you guys are. You guys are trusted with so much too, and I can't say I don't envy that. I wish you all the best of luck.

    Media Team

Some of the best friends and the best times that I have had have been with the media team. You guys are amazing, and so welcoming I could cry. To be honest, I am, but I haven't stopped since I started writing this. And it takes a loooong time on a phone. You guys will always been in my memory as one of the more fun teams on the server, and I LOVE the work you have been doing! Oh and Zill, watch the head, it's been getting big, but I'm sure the others will gladly pop it for you ;)

    Adunians

I didn't start on this server as an Adunian, but I certainly have been adopted in and I have loved every minute of it, yes, even the drama. Adunians have such a rich culture, and the majority of it has been made ON the server. I find that amazing! You are the most unique of any race on here, and I still hold it that Adunians are their own race, or at least they have the potential to be. I have been telling you all this for a long, long time, but you can do so much more than you seem to think. You don't have to hide in some backwaters place of some other city, you are the only ones that can say that you have been here nearly from the beginning, and you are so much more than just a subculture. Just think about that potential more often and really live up to it. You are worth it, I promise. I will miss all of you so much and I will never forget all the fun times that we have had on this server.

    Oreners

Now I'm sure that you are the crowd that is most cheering for my removal, but I have to say that I still love Oren. I started there, and I was pretty much raised on the server there. Chivays have always had my respect, though Carrion will always been the cannon fodder peasants that they began as, and I'm sorry but you'll have to forgive me for that. Still, I will never forget all the fun times that I have had on the server, and I promise that I will miss you all too, even if you all are item-hungry PvPers (I'm kidding, I'm kidding, don't kill me)

    High Elves

I really wish that I had been able to properly join your society. It was certainly a lot of fun to watch at least, and I still miss your library. You guys are the best bigots I have ever met, though I haven't exactly met any bigots quite as outwardly proud of it as you all are. I will miss all the fun times I've had with you all on team speak, and some of the discussions that we have had in character. I encourage you all to keep up that culture! It's a unique and interesting one, and I find it fascinating myself. Don't let it die.

    Kha

I didn't play a Kha for very long, but I still love the group. I haven't left the chat since I was stuck in it, and we've had a lot of fun together, completely unrelated to the server. I'll miss you guys.

Magical Faery Mermaid Bunny Raury Friends

I don't know what else to call you all, because you were a group of your own, but I will miss you all too. That was so much fun, and I will certainly not forget it. You guys introduced me to MPM which led to hours... and hours... of random fun. I can't think of anything more stress-relieving than the times that we had, and I will miss you all.

Alright, now here comes the individual ones. I know, I know, I'm almost done.

    Shiftnative

I have an incredible amount of respect for you. Like... more than the respect I have for anyone I know of. You have stuck with this server through thick and thin and drama and trouble, and you have done so much to make this server the best that it can be. This server would be dark if you weren't here to help it along. I am glad it has such a great person at the head. (No matter what you say, you're still considered the unofficial leader, I know it.)

    Tythus

We have had some fun times, haven't we Tythus? It's been great to get to know you, and it'll be even greater from this point out. Good luck on keeping everything running, and I wish you luck in your steam enterprise as well. They probably owe you a lot by now. (I'm teeeeasing.)

    Rittsy

You are by far one of my favorite people to talk to . You do a lot for this server and I know you do the job of a lot of admins. I know I've teased you a lot, but its only because I know that you dish it out just as hard, and I have to at least try to keep up. I realized writing this that you are the first admin I ever got to meet, and you were messing with me from the start, trying to make me think I'd broken the server. You're an ass, but I'll miss you.

    Urasept

Don't tell Rittsy, but you're my favorite. Yes, I know that you are probably going to tell him anyway, that or he'll read this himself. (I love you Rittsy!). I know that you like to act tough, but really, don't take players hate seriously unless they say it to you with the respect that you deserve. You've been here a long time, and that's not for no reason. Good luck with the antag, I know it's going to be fantastic. Oh, and make sure to deflate Rittsy's ego regularly and keep him on his toes.

    Kai

Don't feel bad about any of this. You were right, it was time for me to go. I needed this, more than I know right now, I realize that. I will have to take you up on that whole playing steam sometime though. Thank you for all your service as a GM and as an Admin. You really are helping the team, even if I don't like it.

    Rhia

I know you've left before me, but I hold you in the highest regard as a GM. You care so much about the server, and I hope that I can bring that into my real life. I would like to think that I at least rivaled that care... but I doubt it at the same time. Thank you for keeping us all in check.

    Ski-king

To be completely honest, I didn't think that you would be a good choice for GM, but I am proud to say that I was absolutely wrong. You have been a fantastic addition and I chide my past self for judging you too quickly. Thank you for that. I wish you luck in the future.

    Supremacy

I'm glad you became a GM, I have had a lot of respect for you since we formally met in the Lore Team chat. I know that you are trust worthy, and I know that you are going to do some great things in this server. Make sure that you don't second-guess when you have an opinion. Things that you say are brilliant, and you shouldn't fight them. Good luck, and don't ban yourself in ban wars with the other GMs. You're gonna break the server with that hammer.

    501warhead

I liked you as an ET member, and I like you just as much now that you're on the team. You're going to need to keep that semi-serious attitude, because I can tell you that there are plenty of GMs right now that will need that to keep them straight. Now that Rhia's gone, I present the mantel on you to keep everyone from chatting idly in work chat. Good luck with life and the server!

    Zarsies

You are gonna have a lot of fun in the GM team. You have been for awhile. I've always loved your attitude toward the game, the team, and life itself. I hope that I can bring some of that attitude into my real life, because I know it's going to be rough. I'm going to miss you, and I hope that you continue to succeed. Thank you so much.

    Geo

Oh boy, Geo. You're still such a good friend, ever since you picked up that new Kha near the Cloud Temple in Asulon. I know I've teased you just as much as the rest of them, but to be honest I think your accent is the coolest. I hope you know I still count you among my closest friends. I'll miss you so much.

    Frott

I beat you! I still haven't seriously damaged the server, so ha! You were one of my Trial GM mates, and the last one that's still part of the team. I'm gonna miss you. For the record, you're still at the top of MY list of worst screw-ups. :P. Do our training proud.

    Ouity

You are my favorite little toddler GM. You remind me a lot of myself when I was starting out on the team, so hopefully that means you won't screw up... though hopefully you also won't have the computer trouble that I've had. Yikes, I'm sorry, I might have just cursed you. I'll go hug a few trees for you.

    Aep

Sorry that I wasn't able to help finish out with Thess, but it's for the best. I'll still try to finish up the dictionary for you since I know I owe you that. Thank you for your loyalty through all the tough times, and even when I was an idiot about everything. Aep5Kingeh4Eva. You are still my favorite troll.

    Radahan

Thank you for being there for Adunia as long as you have been, and thank you for sticking it out with me even through the fighting. The above paragraph to the Adunians goes twice for you. You don't have to bring Adunia down and build it back up, you really don't. Just work hard, and Adunia can make it I promise. I wish you luck in keeping it all going, and I'll miss you.

    Telanoob (Yes Telanir, that's you)

Thank you for all the fun time, and helping me to mess around with the plugins with you. I wish you luck with the plugin, both the magic one and what's left of Nexus, and I know that you are going to succeed. I'm gonna miss you mister Java Wizard.

    Kralek

No, you can't have the circlet. I already have a friend in mind who is going to watch out for it for me. Too bad.

    Ariana

Thank you so much for staying unbiased through all of the drama that I've caused and been around for. You've stuck closer to Adunia than most Adunian players, and I hold you in the highest respect for it. I know that you will continue to be peaceful and neutral, and I wish you the best in all of that. I'm going to miss you.

    Cappy

And here come the waterworks again.

There is a reason that I saved you for last, because what I put into this spoiler is probably going to be very personal, and hopefully most of the people reading through this will have had their fill of reading the spoilers by now.

Cappy, you may be all tough about all this, but you are by far my closest friend on the server. Part of that is because I could share things with you that I couldn't share with any of my non-GM friends, and you were the one who was there for me when I was going through the hardest situations. You have been the GM the longest now than anyone else on the team, and I am going to miss you so much. Thank you for the shoulder to cry on when I was feeling depressed and frustrated, and thank you for being there when I really needed you.

Don't be so depressed all the time, you have a lot ahead of you still. I know that Admins are idiots, and GMs are babies and players are haters, but you need to look at the bright side of all that. I know it's hard, and I know that it's tiring and dumb, but you can do it. Get up, look at the light outside, and tell yourself that it's going to be a good day, even if you're staying up all night to help do things for the server. You are by far the best GM in the book, and you even outshine most of the Admins. Don't forget that, even if the server does.

Thank you for all your time and effort with the server, and with helping me, and keeping the admins in line. I know you'll continue to do a great job at all of that.

And that's it. For anyone else, feel free - infact, I encourage you - to message me on Skype. I still have a lot of people I want to say good bye to before I go, but I can't fit it all in one post: legitimately, even after I cut it down from the 47, half of them don't show up if I didn't cut more out. Thank you too all of you, and good bye.

  2. I really don't see why it's such a huge deal. The point was to give mages a PVP aspect. It's not like we're going to close up magic again, everyone can learn unlocked subtypes whenever they want, that was the deal when the MT was dissolved. People can still do just that. Now makes can be makes in fighting though.

  3. ((While I understand this may be a roleplay thread and what not, I am going to make this very VERY clear. This is a MEDIEVAL Roleplay Server. This means that anything that you create MUST BE BASED ON MEDIEVAL LIFE. If you would like to make this Lore it's own proper culture, firstly you should make it so that it is strictly medieval based. From what I have seen of the roleplay of this group, it has become something resembling a modern London gang. That is not right. Swearing every since sentence is ALSO inappropriate. We may allow some swearing, but excessive swearing like the kind I have just seen is not right. Should any member of the staff come across another encounter with this group that seems much MUCH more modern than it should be, there will be consequences. Just so you are aware, this includes the IC name of "Glo' Gang" as the word gang did not come to mean anything of the sort until late renaissance. Keep it Medieval people, or your group will be removed.))

  4. Deep in a cave in the swamps of the Fringe, Kayrin Elendil studies the edict under candlelight. Beside him on an iron stand sits a deep blue ball he has clearly been studying. He scoffs quietly to himself, "Hm, well, doesn't this seem familiar. Oh wait, it was one of the reasons I dismissed the idea of a council of thanes. My poor cousin. I wonder if he'll grow sick of the rebellions as well." He then folds the edict, tucking it into the drawer of the desk and returning to his study of the ball.

  5. I have a few bardic songs I've written for my character. Here's the only one that I really put much effort in. Might be cool to have it. Might not be. Smeh.

    The Great Pink Haired Man

There once lived a dwarf named Pikel Boldshoulder

    His hair, colourful

    His heart, much bolder

He came to us in our hour of need

He lived by a creed, did a great deed

    He and 4 brave warriors

    Faced with many barriers

    They ventured into the nether

They did it with great haste

    Only 4 were turned paste

    Defeat the evil Iblees

They tossed an axe into a pit

And also one of the heroes… ****

    He was a true hero

    He asked for no fame

    Not even a dame

    So if you see pink

    You’d better rethink

    That could be Pikel Boldshoulder

    Admittedly, much older

If you have a tune for it that would be fantastic, but if not I can come up with one and you can tell me what you think.

  6. Another note to add in here:

I could REALLY use the help of any male singers and I REALLY need help with translating. Especially Elvish.... I can figure out most of the sentences, but my words are often odd. It would be interesting to sing a Kha song in their language too, so if you could do that it would be awesome.

  7. Alright!

So, as some of you know, for the past while I have been working on writing songs to make a sort of mini soundtrack to LOTC for the benefit and joy of the players. Well, as an update, I have officially written all I can in regards to songs (and since, at the moment, my computer prevents me from being able to record anything, writing is really all I am currently capable of) so I need all of you guys to help me write more!

    Here is what I need:

I need people willing to take a bit of time out of their likely busy gaming schedule to describe to me something about the race they play/one of the races they play/the race they feel most connected to. This includes subraces, and if you are particularly connected to a certain subrace I would encourage you to post for them as well. Here's a little form to make life easier, though you don't have to follow it if you don't want to.

    Race/Subrace:

Have you played a character from this (sub)race?:

Describe how you imagine the music this (sub)race would listen to? If you can name a music genre or post an example link that would be even better:

What do you imagine this (sub)race's songs would be about?:

What kinds of songs do you think would be most commonly found sung by this subrace? (i.e. war songs, lullabies, jigs, religious music, ballads...):

Glad to have your help! Have a good day!

    -Chi

    Edits:

I think I'm also going to add cultures to this, so if you want to include a culture you are welcome to.

  8. Keeeeeeem...

Wai u nu tell Chi u mak purti tings?!?!

Seriously, I'm in awe right now. These are beautiful Hate to sound too feministic or whatever, but I love that you don't draw those unrealistically skinny women. Makes me feel a tad more comfy in my own skin seeing your work. :3 Much love to you, mai fwiend.

  9. Honestly guys, relax. A lot of you have expressed the concern that this will slow 4.0, and don't worry, we are going to put minimal effort into setting up the map but just enough that it works as a decent map. But really, everyone has been saying that RP in the fringe has become stagnant, and the most important part of this server is not the maps, but that people are having fun. If you are "waiting for 4.0" that is completely your choice, but a lot of people don't want to have to wait for 4.0. Our job as moderators is to make sure that you are enjoying yourself every time you come onto the server, whether 4.0 is coming or not. If the Fringe isn't gonna cut it, we need to change something instead of just doing what we've been doing. This means quickly fixing up something interesting for you to enjoy, then continuing the work.

  10. I think if we came up with a decent storyline, and something long term, people would have a better time. Like the plague. It was a fantastic idea, but it was over too quickly. We need something that will last. As much as I think the drought would be unique I don't think it's intriguing enough to really make good rp.

  11. I'm not sure exactly what it is about the Fringe itself though that is killing RP. It's my only dilemma. What if that same thing happens in this new place? Its the thing that bothers me most. To me, we need to figure out what is killing the rp in the Fringe before we can really say that moving to a new place will help. Is it size? Is it the people? Is it rules? Plug-ins? Etc. If you guys know then great, I just am not sure.

  12. I honestly do not understand why this thread was honestly made... No offense OP, but you don't want there to be forced PK genocide, and no one else does, and honestly I'm fairly sure that it was decided back in WR times that you CANNOT genocide a certain race. Certainly they hunted the Dark Elves for sport, but I'm also fairly sure that the WR had no intention of genocide or forcing PK. Pk will NEVER be forced on someone unless they themselves do something that we consider self-pk: such as suicide or sometimes causing too much drama - something that mods decide needs to change. So really... this thread is a bunch of people yelling at a wall.... like, everyone yelling at a wall.

I'm not going to lock it, but just be aware that you have no reason to think that genocide is ever going to be okay on LOTC. Even the OP for those who read it said they didn't want it to happen. No worries here.
