The Greycloaks of Belvitz
“For Coin and Country, Duke and Ducat”
History
Upon the creation of the Belvitz Merchant Company, and the ongoing conflict between Ivanovich kin, his Lordship, Duke of Adria, Lord of Belvitz and Patriarch of House Sarkozic, John Sarkozic, 1st of his name, ordered his Marshal, Royal Huntsman Vladan Valek, to create a guard force to secure Adria’s interests politically, martially, and economically. The result was the Greycloaks, designed to Protect Adria both on the streets of Belvitz and the roads of Atlas.
Goals
The Guard’s mission is to protect the interests of both the Belvitz Municipality and Merchant Company. As Belvitz obtains most of its riches from the luxurious caravan trade, a reliable military escort is to be drawn from the Guard’s reserves, and each involved member shall be compensated proportionally to the magnitude of their assistance.
A life of the road often leads to an openness to new ideas, and this is no exception for the Belvitz Greycloaks. A secondary goal of the guard is to both collect, protect and inquire upon magic of unique artifacts found throughout Atlas, whether it be relics of past dynasties or flame spewing swords. Curators of sorts, their collection will grow along their wealth.
Appearance:
Taking the apparel of a traditional town guard when their conditions are similar, the average Guardsman wears a heavy cuirass, shoulderplates and gauntlets, with chainmail armor on their legs. However, when taking caravans, their apparel may differ. For less valuable and less cumbersome transports, light armor is often acceptable for horsebound guardsman. For the high value caravans, plate armor is often used, resembling that of a hedge knight due to their high financial boon allowing them to purchase above their class.

Caravans
The most effective source of income for the Greycloaks, however, are the caravans. Indeed, countless resources come to Belvitz from the trade of potions, and Guards are granted a commission of 5% of the income to a caravan trip. Meaning, if the income is to be 2500 minas, the income of a single guard would be 125 minas. Whoever is running the Caravan is bound to give 30% of the income to the Company, and is free to hold the rest, given that his men are paid.
Beliefs
The Greycloaks believe in cultivating the city of Belvitz and its inhabitants, including its own guard, into become very wealthy and happy. Where other guards are guided by morality, Belvitz guards are guided by coin, coin for all, that is. When money is to be made, people to be seen, the Greycloaks can be found.
