I named a good number of these, and the thing is that you listed a good deal of cliche professions. Though, there are a lot of things in there that I do like, such as cartographer, nurse, nanny, and jeweler.

  2. Okay guys, so if you haven't noticed there is not much of a variety in ways of professions in LotC. It seems like everyone wants to be one of three things; a solider, a blacksmith, or a tavern keeper. Well these aren't very original, are they? So I'm making this guide to give everyone some new, different ideas to make their living on the isle of Elysium. I hope you guys enjoy, and don't forget to leave feedback. smile.gif

    1-Tailor
This profession is actually quite common in Asulon, so why am I putting this as number 1? That's because we very rarely see it roleplayed in game. Oddly enough, this profession seems almost solely confined to the forums. Why do I see that as an issue? Well, there is much more that could be done in game if a tailor actually opened up a shop.

    2-Courier
Get out and meet new people, often very prominent ones, all while seeing the wonderful world of LotC. Messages, private packages, you name it. Rain or shine, you'll get it there on time. I don't believe I have ever seen a single courier in game, so why not?

    3-Town Crier
You are the news. If someone wants the word spread on anything, they go see you. You announce all of the recent happenings for the good townspeople to hear. Whether there is a wedding of an important nobleman, a shopkeeper wants to spread word about his business, or a warning about a group of dangerous bandits on the loose, it's your job to inform the people.

    4-Theater Actor/Play-write
Who doesn't want to go see a show, right? Opening up a theater would be a completely unique RP in LotC. The fact is, nobody had done it (To my knowledge). Imagine writing your own play, and hiring actors to perform in front of a large audience. It also gives noblemen a new place to go an discuss the current news. Business hours are few, but the rewards are very plentiful.

    5-Barber
When the common and noble men of Asulon need a haircut, they go see you. You are a barber, the master of the razor and scissors. You make sure everyone is prim, proper and presentable. Open your shop and watch the business flow in. (This profession would be mostly rped, though could also extend further, should someone be adept at skinning unique hairstyles.)

    6-Shipwright
Providing the world with ships, for both war and luxury, you are a shipwright. You are hired by the various nations and businesses of the world to construct their mighty vessels. Your craft is an art form, and should be treated as such. Not to mention it brings in a steady flow of minas as well.

    7-Travelling/Exotic Merchant
While there have been many people who have attempted to play the role of a merchant, few have truly succeeded. This profession is all about who you know, and whether or not they'll give you the best deals you can get. Buying and selling exotic goods across the land, this is how you live. When you walk in to town with you pack on your back, the people flock to you.

    8-Banker
Make your living by protecting the livelihood of others. As a banker, it's your job to protect the valuables of your customers. Your massive halls of chests are as secure as it gets, the best security available protecting them. And while you're at it, why not take a little bit of that money and go invest it somewhere? It certainly can't hurt, can it?

    9-Brewer
Ahh Ale, the finest drink to be drunk. You supply the golden liquid to the world, as well as a wide variety of alcohols. You bring the noblemen their wine, and the common men their mead. It's an art, and your passion.

    10-Nothing!
That's right, nothing at all! Be a bum! We have such a lack of this on the server, regardless of the fact that a good number of our players are actually homeless, they never act as such. The scum of the streets, you lie about all day, trying to come up with whatever silly plot you can to make a quick coin. Entertain the people of the city, or travel the countryside. Be merry, be melancholy, it matters not. You add to the diversity of Asulon, and that's all that matters, right?

    11-Cook

A very unfortunate fact about LotC; I don't think I've ever seen a properly roleplayed eating establishment. This profession is near and dear to me considering it's what I do for a living, I went to a Voc Tech High School for Culinary Arts, and am currently attending Johnson & Wales. ANYWAYS, cooks can not only open up their own restaurants  but can work in pubs, or perhaps even be the personal chefs of noblemen. But perhaps your character just likes to cook? Try integrating that into roleplay, travel a bit, and search out the fine foods of Anthos.

    12-Maid

Ahh, the humble servants of the nobles and upper class citizens, often stereotyped wearing the iconic black and white french dress. To be truthful, every noble had them, and even a good amount of regular citizens did as well. So why is it that we don't see them very often in LotC? Unfortunatelly, that is not for me to decide.

    13-Stable Keeper

We have wonderful plugins here on LotC, including a marvelous fast travel system. Surely those of you who were around in Asulon visited the city of Arethor, and it's iconic stables. Well, here's something that not everyone knows; You can set fast travel fees. That's right, and that opens up an entire door of new roleplay possibilities. Roleplaying as a Stable Keeper would entail taking care of your horses, and cleaning your stalls, all the while making income from the fast travel service. Who knows, maybe you could even saddle up some pigs to sell, and earn a bit more.

Well, there it is! I hope you guys enjoy these suggestions, and if you have any more ideas or suggestions then please, post them in a reply and I'll be sure to add them to this guide. Have a great day everyone, and don't forget to +1!

  3. ((Sadly so many houses that pop up are either destroyed, absorbed by other houses, or are ignored as a house by the larger houses... Still, I like it though, good job!))

((We've actually been around for a while. We like to keep our members limited, and tend to hang around in the background, so most people haven't heard of us.))

  4. ((Okay, I've been putting off making this topic for far too long, so without further a due - House Green.))

    Banner_zps5c9246bb.png

House Green is a one of the newer houses of Oren, only being assigned to the Empire for three elven months. Prior to this the Greens were the dominant house in the island nation of Empyreal. Only two blooded members of the house remain to this day, the two brothers - Adam and Josh, but underneath them lie the entirety of the Empyreal Refugees.

    History

The two brothers were sworn in under King Codrik of Empyreal when they were in their early twenties, serving underneath him diligently. Together they ruled the county of Stonedar for years, building it up and watching it flourish to become the most populated settlement on the island, even more so than the capitol of D'Hara. Adam married, and saw the birth of his first child, a girl, who he named Allison.

As time passed they watched their king's health deteriorate, and as he grew weaker, they both took up more responsibility in the small nation. Josh moved out of Stonedar to watch over D'Hara, as Adam rose up to serve as the King's Hand while keeping his watch over their settlement.

Eventually Codrik passed, and with him it would seem, so did the entire island. First, the crops began to die out, then the goblins that were native to the island returned, raiding various settlements, there were mudslides, and it seemed as if they were receiving endless rain. And just when it seemed like it couldn't get any worse, the volcano at the center of the island, which had remained dormant for oh so many years, erupted, eradicating D'hara, and with it Adam's wife and daughter. So they led their people onto the nation's two most powerful ships, the Leviathon and the Kraken, and they fled from the island to seek refuge with the monks.

The refugees stayed with the monks for two months before they realized that they could not live solely in the sanctuary. They had to seek refuge in a nation, and there would only be one that would take them in- The Holy Empire of Oren.

And so as Josh stayed with the ships, Adam went with several men to the courts of Arethor and pleaded his case before the High Chancellor, Alexander de Stolistes. He swore not only his, but all of his people's allegiance to the Empire so that they might find a new home within Oren. He was successful, being granted the Isle of Winter's Peak after several stressful months of negotiations and politics. There they stayed until it was time to leave Asulon forever, and when the time came they followed the rest of Oren to the new, promised land.

  5. I do not appreciate you openly bending the history of the Scarlett Order's RP in use of your own lore. Neither of the characters you listed were ever part of the Scarletts, if I recall you name was Arden in character. Nor did we treat you as slaves, that would go completely against the ideals of our guild considering one of our main focuses is promoting equality. I would very much like for you to correct this. And one suggestion, as Seyer said above, add a little more info and clean up the post. As it stands this is very unappealing.

  6. I don't believe there is any other player in the community that I would like to see as a GM more than Freema. He's friendly, mature, and one hell of an RPer. I believe he will excel at dealing with "problem" players, strictly do to the fact that he already does so on a regular basis. (I mean come on, what younger member of our community wouldn't want to be a master thief?). I simply have nothing negative to say about Freema, and I would doubt if anyone else in the community did. He would simply make a fantastic GM.

  8. *gasp* ARIS DON'T GO TO THE DARK SIDE! Naw, I'm kidding, but this is actually something that's pretty important! If halflings go by themselves and colonize and all that jazz, I think we should just make ourselves one huge burrow on the island! :P With rooms and things so we're like one big famiwy. :3 If not, and we go hang out with some other race, maaaaybe we could be travelers/ wandering halfling group and enhance everyone's lives with our merriment! :D *cough* Except for orcs because they'll just eat us.. *cough* Just my two cents y'all! :)

That's actually an awesome idea, both of them. While I am not a halfling personally I would love to see something like that should I choose to become one.
