Fosco Bumbleroot, Burrowless. -
Name: Fosco Bumbleroot Street: None (Burrowless) Nomination/Vote: Mortimer (Tink o' teh drama in e'ry town meetin')

An account of the Battle of Gimblewood, as observed by Mr. F. Bumbleroot from a hill to the north of the area of conflict. All sketches were made by Mr. F. Bumbleroot It should be noted that the author of this account was not a resident of Gimblewood when the time and place of battle was declared, and cannot comment on the circumstances regarding this Halfling civil war. The following account is focused only on the perceived events of the Battle of Gimblewood. The area of conflict selected was the pond that the town of Gimblewood is built around. Being frozen over on account of winter in the area, it provided flat terrain for a fair and balanced conflict. The rebel forces under the command of a Mr. Mortimer Pobblebonk of #1 Shire Street positioned themselves on the west side of the pond. Their base, Castle Von Mortimer, was an unusual semi-circular fortification with a dome-like keep. The rear of this fortress was open, creating a major weak point. However, it should be noted that an open rear gave the rebels easier access to the nearby Tavern, so the increased exposure can be seen as a necessary compromise. They also had a catapult. The Loyalists, under the command of Mayor Fumble Willowbottom, positioned themselves on the east side of the pond. Their base, Citadel Willowbottom, was a fairly conventional castle and keep with full wall coverage and ramparts. Their main gate was forward-facing. While the citadel had no openings in the wall, it was in danger of the large tree behind it, which any Halfling could climb up in order to drop in on the defenders. The evening before the battle was spent preparing. The larger loyalist force assembled and began stockpiling snowballs. At this time, the rebels were not seen. It has been suggested, but not confirmed, that Mortimer was still in bed on account of it being very cold out. As dawn approached, a small group of bigguns, presumably with nothing else to do, arrived to offer Mayor Fumble their support. However, the bigguns were rejected by Mayor Fumble on account of their stupid armor and the accusations that one of them had tried to kill Deputy Lotho. These foreigners later joined the rebels, who were less hesitant to take them in, on account of the smaller rebel numbers. By dawn, Mortimer and Fumble had taken their positions with their respective followers. Mayor Fumble put forward the terms of victory. It was announced that each side would construct a pillar of snow, to be placed at the top of their keeps. The team who could capture the enemy’s pillar would be victorious. Mortimer agreed to these terms, and the two prepared for battle. For some time, scattered snowball fire was exchanged. At first, only a handful of troops on one side or the other would throw a few and duck down. Gradually, the firing escalated until, around 11 o’clock, all-out battle broke out. Initially, both sides engaged each other at range. Losses were low, but several brave halflings received snow down their necks and pants. After a few minutes of throwing, the Loyalists launched an assault against the rebel stronghold. Led by Mayor Fumble and the local law enforcement, they charged against the rebel flanks, attempting to break in via the exposed rear. After several minutes of intense snow-throwing, the Loyalists were forced to retreat with soaked clothes and numb faces. The Rebels pursued the retreating loyalists, launching a counter-attack. Several Rebels managed to climb the tree behind Citadel Willowbottom, diving into the base and threatening the Loyalist pillar. Let it be noted that the bigguns frequently ignored snow-hits, on account of their stupid armor keeping them dry. As the rebels were nearing a victory, Deputy Lotho made a daring assault against the undefended Castle Von Mortimer, seizing the rebel pillar. As the Rebels were attempting to capture the Loyalist pillar, Deputy Lotho succeeded in capturing their pillar. At noon, a Loyalist victory was declared. Mr. Mortimer and his followers evacuated, returning home to warm by the fire and prepare their afternoon tea. Some for-fun fighting continued, but that is not relevant to the war effort. In all, several horrible casualties were inflicted on both sides. Countless Halflings suffered from wet-willies, snow-down-yer-shirt, and mild colds. It has been claimed by some Rebel veterans that the Loyalists made use of ice-balls, an unjust method of war, causing bruises. These claims have not been proven, and many Loyalists insist that any ice-balls used were accidental. It has also been argued that the rebels committed acts of shovel-bashing, but if these incidents did occur, it is far more likely the result of bigguns interference. In the aftermath of his victory, Mayor Fumble restored unity to the village. Commenting on the battle, he stated that “Willowbottoms always win” and that victory was therefore guaranteed.

Alright, thank you. -
For burrow-making, should I just find a spot or is there a procedure to go through?
-
Thanks, although it was never a matter of not enjoying it. More to do with being too busy to get properly invested.

Out-Of-Character Information The simplest section of the application! Simply answer these questions so we can get to know you a bit better. What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - Michigander37 How old are you?: - 18 What time-zone do you live in?: - EST Have you ever roleplayed before - if you have, how?: - Not outside of Minecraft servers and RPG's Have you been on any other roleplaying servers?: - I have Have you applied to this server before?(Please link past applications): - Yes http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/65795-deniedmichiganders-application/?hl=michigander37 http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/65959-michiganders-application/?hl=michigander37 http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/66115-acceptedmichiganders-application/?hl=michigander37 How did you hear about us?: - I joined the server back during the Asulon phase, but have been inactive since around the time Anthos was starting. I'm making this app because I'd like to get involved again with the server. What do you think the server will be like? - Even better than it was when I was involved, since I've had time to experience other RP servers and hone my abilities. Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - Yes, I have What’s your favourite rule / the rule you agree with the most?: - You don't need to permanently kill your character when you die. However, if you commit suicide, your character is perma-killed. When you die, you simply go back to the Cloud Temple and forget all memory of the death. You can't go back to where you died for a full thirty minutes. If you perma-kill your character, you have a one week grace period in which you can return your character from the dead. After the one week is over, your character can no longer be brought back from the grave. Definitions This is simply so that we can get an understanding of how much you know about roleplaying. Feel free to Google the answers, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not another website / person's! What is roleplaying?: - Portraying characters an situations through player imagination and ideas. What’s metagaming?: - The use of OOC-learned information in an RP situation. EX: Telling everyone another faction is going to attack because you read it on the forums. What’s powergaming?: - Controlling the outcome of roleplay events in an unfair manner. EX: "player x attacks and kills player y" is powergaming because player y was given no chance to respond to the event. In-Character Information Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play. What’s your character called?: - Aldous Valinum What race are they (and sub-race)?: - Human, Southernor What sex are they?: - Male How old are they?: - 23 Give us a brief description of their life - their story, childhood, family (Include server lore when writing): - Aldous Valinium was born to a large peasant family in Abresi in the year 1430. Hes was the fifth son of Oliver and Ida Valinium, farmers in southern Abresi with a heritage going back to the lost lands of Asulon. Of course, that "heritage" was mostly a bunch of drunken peasants, so to call it a proud one would be a lie. Nevertheless, Aldous saw it as equal to the epic sagas and stories of the noble families of Oren. As the fifth of five sons, Aldous' prospects were never particularly high if he stayed in his hometown. His oldest brother, Nicholas, would surely inherit the family farm. His Brother Robert became a Deacon and his brothers Stilnor and Steven learned trades. Aldous was left to figure out his own path. Growing up in the chaotic period of the Holy Oren Empire's fall exposed Aldous to the horrors and excitement of warfare and intrigue, stories of which found their way even to his ears. Aldous envied the soldiers and knights he would see frequently. Growing up the youngest son, Aldous had never commanded respect. But these soldiers, some of whom were no more than peasants with spears, seemed larger than life, and commanded respect and attention among their peers. When he reached adulthood, Aldous left his home, desiring a spear rather than a plow. He now hopes to enter the service of one of Oren's noble families, seeing this as his calling in life. What are they like (personality)?: - Aldous is somewhat soft-spoken and quiet, tending to blend in and seem insignificant. That's not to say he's introverted. He's friendly enough with outher people, but not likely to go out of his way to be social. He is confident, but still realistic about his place in the world (at the bottom). Aldous is loyal to those he respects (or those who pay him enough) and not particularly ambitious in his goals. He has an admiration for Dwarves (though he has never met one) but views halflings as cowards and weaklings. What are their ambitions?: - Aldous isn't very ambitious by nature. Realisitcally, he just wants to find work for a noble house. Deep down, he longs to be a knight, but knows that isn't going to happen. Do they have any special skills?: - Aldous' parents couldn't set up an apprenticship for him when he was young, so he has grown up without learning a major skill. Aldous has somewhat of a knack for building, but has never really used it practically. Aldous can farm, like his parents, but loathes it to the point that he hates to see a plow. What are their weaknesses?: - Aldous is overly confident in his abilities, and this will surely be his downfall. He's not one to think before getting himself into a bad situation, because he believes he'll get himself out fine. Aldous is not a generous person, and is more likely to kick a begger out of the way before giving him a single minas. Give us a description of how they look (not a screenshot yet!)?: - Aldous has dark brown hair and light blue eyes. He is of average height and weight, with a stocky build. His skin is typical of a southernor, but somewhat lighter than some. The right half of his face is discolored, a mark he earned as a boy when he fell into a fire pit. Anything else you want to say about them?: - Nothing I can think of. Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: - Fantastic, there you go. No need to write any more - simply post this on our forums (and on MinecraftForum like it says above) and wait!

When in-game, I keep getting stuck in Global OOC chat. Even when I use the /leave OOC comand I'll try to say something and immediately be back in OOC. Any suggestions?
-
Thanks, I haven't had to do that since I first started playing. I had forgotten the commands.
-
This is kind of a "noob-question", but my character bio appears to be empty (according to other players) in-game. What's the command for editing one's character bio?

(You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Dwarf What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Mountain Dwarf Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Nikolov stood before the wall, overcome with amazement. Any local would have passed this wall by, it was a small brick wall that divided two fields. But Nikolov was not a local. When he saw this human-built wall, the mason in him saw the humans who built it, designed it, used it. He saw human architecture at work, in a three-foot-tall wall. Nikolov is a Mountain dwarf of about 30 seasons (210 years) of age. He has red hair and a well groomed beard. He's average for a dwarf, though darker skinned than most mountain dwarfs. Nikolov is of the once respected though long forgotten Ebonheart Clan, his father being among the first Dwarves to arrive in Karik from Aegis.. Nikolov’s father was killed in a horrendous “drinking contest gone wrong”, leaving his mother, a firery-haired dwarven woman, to care for him. She taught him his father’s trade, masonry, and how to use an axe. It was a long tradition in the Ebonheart clan that the firstborn son joins the Dwarven army. Nikolov joined the army and served in it for five seasons. He found himself in several skirmishes along the Dwarven Empire’s border with the orcs, but most of his service involved chasing bandits near the Holy Oren Empire’s borders. After his service he found work as a mason in Kal’ Dwain, his hometown. A misunderstanding over a collapsed roof forced him to relocate to Kal’ Urguan, the capital of the Empire. Nikolov is friendly to most, but is known for emotional extremes, as dwarves can be. His service in the dwarven army exposed him for the first time to other races and cultures. When he left the army, he decided he had to see these other cultures further. One day he packed a bag, grabbed an axe, and went off to explore the world. Nikolov fancies himself as being an anthropologist and explorer, though he barely knows the meaning of either word. He is fascinated by humans and intrigued by elves. Hopes to one day write a book about his travels and the cultures he’s encountered. What are your Character's ambitions?: To experience everything there is to experience in the land of Asulon and tell others of it. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Since his mother first gave him an axe, it has been his favorite tool. He has been known to use a bow from time to time, however. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Masonry. Nikolov can build any human or dwarven building in a matter of minutes, given the reasources required. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): Other Information about your Character: Nikolov has a deep hatred for thieves and liars. Open-Response-Questions Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP. Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Warriors? Ha! More like spoiled children. There are two things I hate in this world; thieves and bullies, and I’ve found both. The two “brave heroes” are two busy with the halfling to notice me. I hide in the brush and throw a rock at one of them. He whirls around and heads into the woods to investigate. While he’s gone I do the same to his friend, with the same result. The halfling, terrified but grateful, runs as fast as he can to the nearby village and I casually follow, as if nothing had happened. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? "G'day, mah friend. Can I interest ye...I'm down here...can I interest ye in some pelts?" After trading the pelts I have for new boots and a leather knapsack, I bid the man farewell. He stops me, however, and asks if he can make an offer on my iron axe. Axes are very important to me, so I tell him no. Again he insists, as though an iron axe is rare, and I say no. Later that day I visit the blacksmith, who tells me the axe I’m carrying is a very rare iron from Aegis, brought over by the early settlers of Asulon from the old land. I sell the axe for 2000 minas and head to the tavern to celebrate my new wealth. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: No one would leave a sword like that here, this must be a trap. I continue on my way and encounter some mean looking hunters. They say this is their land and I owe them tribute. I tell them of the iron and gold sword and they go to the cabin. I’m about to leave when I hear screaming coming from the cabin’s direction. I rush to the cabin to find nothing left but bones...and a golden sword. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Good to see some friendly faces. I head into the camp and they welcome me. We do some trading and the share their stew. They also tell me the way to a nearby town, but insist I have a drink before going. Always happy to have mead in me, I accept. The mead is good, but makes me drowsy, so I lie down and fall asleep. I awaken in a cage, a newly caught slave for auction. It appears I’m not as smart as I think I am. Oh well, at least I’ll have some interesting material for my book. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Sounds pretty dangerous, but I could use the minas. I grab some armor and head out with the group. With me are two elves and about ten humans. We arrive at the bandit camp to find it abandoned. A local farmer informs use the bandits have moved to and old fort. Upon arriving we discover it to be sealed and well protected. The only way in is a small drainage tunnel used for rainwater and sewage. Being the shortest, I’m picked to climb through the river of filth and enter the fort at night, opening the doors for the rest of our group. I crawl through the tunnel and wait until dark to jump out, only to discover an empty castle. While I was in the tunnel, the bandits had charged our group outside and were defeated. The survivors of my group were already back in town celebrating, having completely forgotten me. Anything else you would like to say?: Nope, that’s all.

The survivors of my group were already back in town celebrating, having completely forgotten me. Anything else you would like to say?: Nope.
