I understand why people like the idea of conquest, in that it could be solved through unique uprising roleplay and what not. But what if it started getting out of control? If the server was open to domination, don't you think some players would make it their personal goal to control other lands? Sure, some might accept that they would be overthrown, but there would also be players who would keep coming back, trying to take over. Imagine your nation finally reclaimed their land and became independent, and within a week your under siege again. Conquest roleplay would get incredibly dry and aggravating. I think some people would stop respecting the diversity of the server.
I think people should also consider that resistance, rebellion, and uprising is not always an option. Not everyone roleplays a warrior. I think that's the most important idea here. Think about all the simple shop keepers, merchants, maids, librarians, farmers, peasants, or any other character who can't really hold a sword. Being dominated would be extremely detrimental to their roleplay. It isn't like they can drop everything and join a resistance in they have to keep themselves afloat through by other means.
I agree with Danny on this one, although I respect the opinions of those who do not. My apologies if this was written in a confusing manner.
