  1. *A neat scrawl is made on the paper* The Science Pirate and his crew are interested.
  2. Although me and my crew often (almost daily!) successfully RP pick pocket I can see this being an improvement!
  3. *Dr Dippel finds the poster after being directed by the local store in Oren* "That vendors suggestion was accurate. They have a medical department and are practitioners of science...it looks like settling into Anthos may be simpler than I first though" *He smiles and writes down the details before wandering back to the store*

Minecraft Account Name: AuleTheValar How old are you?: 23 Time-Zone: GMT Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: D&D and Inquisitor How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: Word of mouth Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/82965-dr-erasmus-shelley-dippel-human/ Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): Yes Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Role playing is not just when you play a character in a game but act, think and learn as that character. Your speech, actions and where you go and live must all fit in with the history and story you have built around this character. Meta-gaming: Meta gaming is using information not available to your character. For example if you overheard about a battle on team speak you could not attend unless you were told about it in game. A very common example on Lord of the Craft is addressing someone by name after reading their character card but before actually asking their name in game. Power-emoting: This is when you emote an action in roleplay that gives the other player no chance to respond or defend themselves. For example: "I swing my sword at you removing your head" should instead be emoted as "I swing my sword at you attempting to remove your head". In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Dr Erasmus Shelley Dippel Current Age: 24 Sub-race (if any): N/A Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Born in Solace, Capital of Salvas under a wealthy name in a small family Erasmus had nothing to set him apart from the other rich boys of his area. Like them he attended a private school, excelled at it thanks to overpaid home tutors and swiftly moved on to one of Asulons more prestigious University's. It was only there that he path took one slightly different to most of his childhood peers. Although still not unusual for his social class Erasmus settled comfortably into scientific studies as opposed to the more popular politics and scholar courses offered at the time. Coming out with full honors in biology, chemistry and anatomy Dr Erasmus (As he had now become) set up a practice in his town which quickly grew popular with a steady stream of recurring patients. Erasmus quickly settled into a comfortable life. To combat the dull void between patients Erasmus begin playing with science as if it was a toy. He found the body a particular playground where chemicals could manipulate the mind and jolts to certain areas could produce spasms. As he sunk deeper into his knowledge it became a crutch for him. Any problems that arose could be combated by science. Illness could be cured, limbs repaired and minds soothed. Only when the body was ready to expire did science become limited and that Erasmus understood. Life and death was beyond mans control and that did not reveal a weakness in science as it limited the world as a whole. Even the Elves of Malinor, long lived eventually expired. Of course that view was not true. Erasmus had seen one source of power that COULD ignore the rules of life and death. Magic. He did not understand it but viewed it as an alternative branch of science. One less tested and seemingly more erratic. Given to wizards such as Blundermore who threatened mankind's very existence messing with a force that the Dr felt they did not understand. One that didn't suit the more superior science he himself studied. Those who practiced in it could keep it as long as it didn't get in his way (and he did his very best to get out if its way!). Unfortunately there came a day when magic and science clashed. One day a patient was brought in who did certainly not have an appointment. Erasmus father. Suffering a wound to the stomach he was bleeding heavily and one look at the wound told Erasmus that his father could not be saved and his time to die had come. His mother not being able to bare the grief fled his practice only to return in the arms of a magic wielder. One who claimed that his fathers wound weren't mortal. Erasmus protested but his mother only silenced him as the mage quickly mended his fathers wounds. The smiles on their faces and their reassurance that their son had "tried his best" stung worse than his fathers death could ever have. As he grabbed his medical notes and tools shoving them into a leather bag he stormed from his practice, his father shouting "Don't do this, you must understand science has its limitations and that is not your fault!" only for Erasmus to reply "One day it wont." He never returned to the practice. Shortly after Salvus fell and become part of the Holy Oren Empire. The Dr did not know what happened to his family in these times and nor did he care. A new goal had entered his head. Once Asulon began to fall the Dr had the chance of the new start he had been waiting for. Boarding one of the first boats for Elysium with his leather bag in hand and but a few minas to his name the Dr moved around town to town making money from field surgeries and medicines he mixed himself. All the time learning and observing from the races he visited. With the knowledge he needed the day came when he could board the boat to Anthos to set up a more permanent practice and fulfill his promise to the world that it was not magic it needed. It was science. Ambitions for the Future: To replace magic in its form with scientific alternatives. Be it healing, transportation or any other day to day application of science. Prevention of magic being used on people is also a smaller goal but the ultimate would be to remove death or at least to reverse it via scientific means. Personality: Dr Erasmus is a calm, quieter man who does not support violence in exchange for mental solutions to problems. He is slightly reclusive but only to the extent that he rarely makes friends and would prefer to stay at home most nights. Highly intelligent but with a narrow mind towards science and anything related such as the undead. Skills: Skilled surgeon and doctor. Has extensive knowledge in chemist, biology and the human anatomy (other races limited). A significant lack of combat skills. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Always smartly dressed in a long woolen coat with a pair of glasses and often leather gloves. he is always seen carrying his leather doctors bag containing notes on his research. Any other details you wish to share about your character: He is an atheist. Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Dr Erasmus observes the figure. The Dr is currently on his way a pregnant mother who needs his assistance and also recalling the Emperors religious policies and rule considers all this to be none of his business. The Dr may be a good man but he is also logical. Any danger to himself would be a danger to his patients health. Someone else will spot the figure he is sure and with that he continues on to his patient. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: "Halt there vile ruffian for I have a Doctorate in death!" The bandits chuckle as Dr Erasmus dives towards them, as the one swings his sword towards Erasmus's chest he twists his body and strikes at the bandits exposed shoulder. The bandits best arm is injured and he drops his sword looking at the blood trickle and pool into his hand. The other bandit now strikes for Erasmus skull. Erasmus grabs his hand before headbutting the bandit in the head so hard he crumples into a head on the floor. He then helps the old man to his feet as two stunning ladies exit the cottage congratulating and praising him. Erasmus then awakes from his vivid dream chuckling at the prospect of himself being a warrior. "I really need to watch where I leave this stuff" he mutters as he moves the vial of coal dust and spider venom a little further from his bed before nodding off back to sleep. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: As the Dr moves through this new marketplace he spies the stand. Trying his luck and thinking that one has to get to know the town eventually he approaches the vendor. "Sir you sell everything I can image. Am I correct?". The seller eying the Dr as a stranger smiles as such an easy target "Why yes sire, Can I interest ya in some drakes teeth or prehaps a frost which hair?". The Dr smiles and simply says "What about embalming fluid?". The vendor slightly puzzled pauses for a moment before removing a small bottle from a stand behind him "Thats all I got but its usually enough fer hunters and the like to mount a head or two on the lodge walls. You don't look like any hunter I have seen before though?. "That is because I am not a hunter. I am a scientist and Dr who has recently set up practice just east of here" replies the Dr politely. "What need does a Doctor need for embalming fluid? the puzzled merchant asks. The Dr simply replies "Some things are so much more easier to study when they are dead". The Dr views the price of the bottle frowning slightly but then shrugging and handing over the exact amount of minas without an argument. The keeper clearly happy with the easy trade thanks the Dr repeatably and encourages him to return. The Dr, still smiling turns to him and ends the conversation with a simple sentence "Oh don't worry i wont have to. I now have the formula to replicate my own embalming fluid" before walking away whistling leaving a distraught vendor in his wake.
