Renilde was engrossed with the retelling of her younger life’s history, wrapped up in the narrative by the young lady who’d interviewed her a few years prior. “This is my favorite retelling thus far. This will be added to the archives, av.” Later that evening, the Queen of the Petra could have been seen sitting with her granddaughter Catriona and her son Paul, rereading the exposé to them with practiced theatrics. They seemed to be enjoying their time together, those three generations huddled closely against one another on a sofa in a parlor. Renilde, despite all she had lost from then and now, was finally, in that singular moment, satisfied. 

Renilde gulped, now being the sole guardian to the young Catriona of the Petra. She prepared to tell the news to her granddaughter, that her one remaining parent, too, had met their end and that they loved her more than life itself.

TO THE PEOPLE OF THE PETRA,

Under Article IV, Chapter I of our Commonwealth’s constitution, the succession to the Throne of Garmont is selective by nature. Each reigning Sovereign is to legally designate their successor, and it is through this instrument that I seek to do so.

With the passing of my beloved daughter and previous heir, the Archduchess of Vallagne, Winifred Adalia, I must now officially declare who shall take the mantle when the time comes for my own reign’s conclusion. Within the Constitution of the Commonwealth, the Salvian Inheritance directs that the heir may be chosen by the reigning Sovereign and that it shall be their duty to designate their successor from amongst the direct bloodline of Paul Salvian. Originally having chosen my daughter, Princess Winifred, I have decided that it is only appropriate for the inheritance of my father’s land and titles to follow down the line that our former Archduchess of Vallagne had left behind.

Therefore, I hereby declare that Princess Catherine Arabella of the Petra [@Zaerie], my granddaughter, be officially named as the heir to the Commonwealth of the Petra. Her mother’s title, that of the title to the heir of the Throne of Garmont, the Archduchy of Vallagne, shall also thus be bestowed upon her. May the young Princess grow under the guidance of myself, the River Council, the Church, and those of the Petra.

BY THE ORDER OF HER MAJESTY, RENILDE I OF THE PETRA,

The recent bounties on all nuns of the land is hereby condemned. Any within the Petra that acts on such bounties shall be treated as a criminal acting against the church. These bounties are not to stand, and hold no legal authority within the Commonwealth, nor were they ordered by the Crown or the Petran Government.

It seems that I must remind those of Aevos of our duty to the Church, and the standing that they hold. While these reports of poisonings are concerning, there is no reason to blame the whole of the Sisters of Canondom, condemn them all to death, or accuse every nun of assault on innocents. These concerns should be brought directly to the Church, or the governments where the incidents occur so that their respective leaders may confer with the Church to investigate the incidents and decide on a course of action together. This will be investigated and dealt with through proper channels, Petra shall not sit idly while our citizens are poisoned and attacked, but vagabonds being sent to slaughter all nuns is not a just course of action.

Bounty hunters beware, this bounty is hereby condemned.

 All that kill a nun in reaction to this bounty will be tried for MURDER.

Disbelieving the words before her very eyes, the Queen of the Petra rushed to le Orateur's office, where a righteous response was tactfully penned.

"The Theonuses are just exemplary citizens and Peers to our realm," The Queen of the Petra mused over coffee and brandy with her best pal Sir Laurens Halcourt, casting a sly smile at him over the rim of her cup. "... Anyway, how's Artois and Brasca doing?"

The letter is returned posthaste to Sir Philip Tiberian of Stassion, it being delivered by a young blond man who expected compensation for his deed - and wouldn't relinquish the letter until he was paid as such! The letter was much less formal than the noble knight's, yet held an air of familiarity befitting a good friend more than a former colleague.

Sir Philip,

Though your time on my River Council was far too brief, the impact you made in kickstarting the Riverguard was a tremendous. You left the military in good hands, and not a complaint has been said about the way you departed; the office was neat and the paperwork was done and filed. I thank you for your commendations, them being incredibly humbling each time I think of what I've overcome in this life, and during my reign. 

I hope to see you again soon, my friend. Be sure to venture out of that castle atop Fredericksburg every now and again to visit your old friend Renilde. You've my respect for life.

"That's my kid!" Renilde rang the bell at the top of the Furnestock Hale to signal the joyous news to the masses!

“I fuckin’ hate those assholes. All the idiots of Gwendel’s brood know nothing about how to traverse this world with an inch of decency. Kill them and be done, for it will be better for everyone else in this life.” The Archduchess of the Petra licked her finger, shaking her head and flipping to the next missive in her stack for the day. 

“Good ****in’ luck, Charlie.” Renilde, the Archduchess who’d previously had this group as a vassal, recalled many a time where the Nords were uncooperative toward a singular goal, highly treasonous, and frequently disturbing of the peace. “If the Dwedmar think that this will be a good reason to come and bother Petra, they’ve got another thing comin’.”

"Ah, yes, the kid forgot to mention her 'Tio's' willingness to disseminate threats to leaders of prosperous nations on behalf of dead, useless, idiotic princes of irrelevant schism states who do nothing but perpetuate their own importance from the least-human corner of this side of Aevos," the aging Archduchess could go on, and probably did, over hot tea with Sir Laurens. @Chorale__

“These statistics are very interesting…” The Archduchess went over the results of the votes with the Theonus lady, Kirsa, enchanted by the outcome of the race for a seat on her Round Table.

Concerning the REDCLYFIAN TREATY OF VALFLEUR of 1922 and the ACTIVATION OF ARTICLE VI

For over a decade, the people of Redclyf have served the Commonwealth with distinction. Unfortunately, the recurrence of disputes between the Sovereign of our Commonwealth and the Vavasour of Redloga have necessitated a thorough review of our relationship.

The causes which have compelled us to do so are many. These include:

-THE ANTAGONIZATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH’S NEIGHBORS

-THE FAILURE BY THE HOUSE OF MOSU TO PAY LEGAL RESTITUTION AS SO ORDERED IN A COURT OF LAW

-A LACK OF DIRECT FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMONWEALTH LANDS

-A GENERAL UNWILLINGNESS BY THE VAVASOUR TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE GREATER COMMONWEALTH

-REPEATED INSTANCES OF DISRESPECT SHOWN TOWARD THE SOVEREIGN, HER COUNSELORS, AND CITIZENS OF THE COMMONWEALTH

-DISREGARD FOR THE SOVEREIGN’S AUTHORITY AS LIEGE

It therefore seems clear by these actions that the Vavasour of Redloga has no intention of honoring the Redclyfian Treaty of Valfleur of 1922 in the long term, nor in good faith. We have been tolerant and have striven to bridge this divide on several occasions, yet our efforts to do so have come to no avail.

As such, it is with the utmost regret that we must trigger Article VI of the Redclyfian Treaty of Valfleur. The title of the Vavasoury of Redloga is thusly returned to the Crown of St. Emma and all promises of land and legal obligations held by the Commonwealth to the former Vavasour under that treaty are to be rescinded. Regardless, we promised that we would part ways peacefully should our relationship sour, and that promise shall be kept.

However, in recognition of the exemplary loyalty and service of so many of the Redclyfian people, including the newly christened Vavasour of the Rivers and others, the Sovereign does extend to all citizens and families of Redclyf who wish to remain a part of the Commonwealth the opportunity to do so in the spirit of Article VII of that same treaty without any change. We urge those who have not already expressed their wish to remain and hold such intentions to petition the Sovereign as such.

“This girl is so brave,” told Renilde those at the Grand Bureau meeting as they discussed the legitimacy of Estrid’s forming of her house. 

Renilde felt a swell of pride in her chest, knowing she’d caused the entire debacle across Canondom, yet for the right reasons. “It is only right. It is the only way for the pact to be binding - legally!” Renilde smiles from her lounge in the Citadel over dinner with her children Winifred and Paul, and looked forward to being present at the swearing of both the King of Haense and Duke of Adria.
