Honestly? What else should have admins done, after one leafinh individual stated they all did it for OOC reasons publically in the forums?

Yes, the solution is shit, but I personally see no better solution to this nonsense.

Acting like 99 percent of the motivations on this server arent for ooc reasons isnt gonna get us anywhere. There's out of game characters controlling the rp ones. As long as there's no huge metagaming it's a fact of life.

This mission statement has to be some fucked up kind of doublespeak bc both the things done under the "mission statement" seem to go directly against the principles. Even in this post, the player supported by the mission statement is decided against. Like are we fr? Why even post the mission statement if your just gonna go against everything it says.

I literally have no problem with the individuals on the admin team but the clowning they're doing is somehow worse than actual corrupt admins on lotc. I'd rather have someone spawning in items or pex abusing than this. It's delegitimizes the entire system and makes the team look like a joke.

We should follow the systems already set in place for PRO transfer, civil wars, etc. If one side was literally ignoring roleplay and we sided with them, what does that say? Honestly, how does that support the mission statement? This is unprecedented action by the admin team over a conflict that was played by the rules. This is telling the playerbase: follow the rules, and we still might moderate you. That isn't the type of community anyone wants to be on.

  2. ON DWED AND HUMANITY

A dwarf stands on a wooden platform in the square of Urguan, clad in a rather old full-body suit of legion armor adorned with orange. If one looked closely, a slight glow could be seen emanating from his helmet near his left eye.

"My fellow Dwed, the time has come. Too long have we allowed the wretched to sow seeds of fear in our people. Too long has this world discriminated against us, and for what, as a reward for our ingenuity? For our great feats of engineering, magic, and science? They discriminate against us because they fear the power we wield. They discriminate against us because of our Kingdom's unwavering strength and history."

The dwarf takes the time to look around him and meet eyes with all surrounding him, raising his arms "So if it is us they fear, if it is us who they attack, then what good is it to play anything but the role they have chosen for us? It is ignorant to ignore the looming threat against Dwedkind posed by Humanity, and in fact, by all other races."

The crowd nods and mumbles at the stark and thought provoking speech given by the Dwarf. The hustle and bustle of the markets seem to stop momentarily as if he has grabbed the attention of all in earshot.

"It is time for us as not only Dwed but as global citizens to restore justice and order to the world. I, Verrik Blackaxe, declare myself Urguan I, the true prophet of the Brathmordakiin. It is simple; death to all heretics, death to all those who oppose our divine judgement. Humanity has stricken us for far too long with illness, war, and slander -- the Brathmordakiin have spoken. Death to the Unholy Orenian Empire, that which plagues the earth. Only then will justice flow once more throughout the roots of this land."

As the address comes to an end, two guards dressed in similar armor escort Urguan I from the platform into the veil of the crowd. Within moments, it appears he has left the square.

  3. I believe lordofthecraft.net should start a Patreon. While you can currently donate on the server for VIP and crowns, that seems more transactional. Most people aren't gonna see value in buying crowns to buy potatoes, although they might see the value in supporting a patreon to support their favorite server. I also propose Patreon subscribers get an equivalent amount of crowns a month, with the top patron or patrons getting a special perk, cosmetic, an NPC at spawn, something. I would be much more likely to subscribe to a Patreon and leave it going, than donate an equivalent amount a month for lackluster perks, it seems dumb but I think there's definitely a psychological effect going on there (Platform with main intent to support advertisement, server costs, and development vs transactional crowns purchase with intent of acquiring ingame perks.) As someone who doesn't always log onto LoTC, I think it would also be beneficial because I wouldn't mind supporting the server forever but im not going to log on every month and buy crowns on the store, thats a lot of active effort.

Additionally, I believe there should be more cosmetic perks available for purchase with crowns that are not attached to VIP. For example, the /ding command, buyable sounds, et cetera -- mainly due to the fact that if you got crowns for subscribing to the patreon, you'd need somewhere better to spend them than on potatoes. Perhaps server wide Vortex boosts, improved global node regeneration, or other global perks could be added as well.

A big reason I think this should be implemented is because if LoTC is truly interested in growing and pursuing the Road to 500, it is going to have to do more than just reform staff teams and rules all day. Monetization on LoTC, once a main focus, seems to have taken a backseat. Players probably are not thinking about monetization or think of it negatively but factually the server needs money to survive, and money can't be invested for server growth if it doesnt exist.

Idk if patreon takes a cut of the earnings but if so, alternatives such as stripe or paypal subscriptions could be used.

    @Lliradd this suggestions no balls

  4. I'd say if you could possibly just only allow the core npcs and disable all the other ones that'd be a preferable outcome as I feel like banks and auction houses are just nice to physically see. If that is technically too arduous, I'd say remove them all until the fix can be created.

I think removing them could impact the new player experience but if someone lags out 10 times the first day they join a server that can't be right.

Please make the cooldowns more reasonable or make the nodes personal instead of global. I don't want to vortex grind for roleplay. Thanks for finally getting everything implemented.

in rp shouldnt your character have to walk somewhere and harvest a rare resource cited in lore to do alchemy

  6. +1

I support Jdesarno for world team. He is truly a very dedicated LoTC player and would be an asset to any staff team, no cap. I've seen very few people who grind as much as him and people who enjoy that have, in my experience, been EXCELLENT staff team members (Ever is my primary example xoxo).

the problem with play to lose is whoever plays it better... well, loses

you get punished for being the fairer and more considerate RPer in CRP

True 🤣 cuz on lotc every time i CRP with anyone who I don't already know they just start powergaming me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Idk what the solution to that is because I am not gonna powergame them back but like man i just want to have fun not get dogged on by some elf with a god complex.

But other than people dead ass trying to powergame you i honestly have only had good experiences playing to lose because the people that do CRP correctly usually just play it by the situation and whatever happens happens

  9. Okay, let me disambiguate something here. What you're describing is basically "Play to lose", and "Play to win". Play to win is a dumb system because it leads to powergaming, metagaming, and is generally just a terrible system used in some HL2RP servers because of overpowered characters existing. In LoTC, everyone is theoretically on a much more even playing field despite your character's backstory due to rules restrictions, so play to lose is the form of roleplay that makes sense.

Yes, your character "wants to win", but you as the arbitrator of roleplay and their actions should ultimately play to lose for the enjoyment of both parties. Basically, the give and take system -- let each party have their fun and then what happens as a result of that, someone will actually lose. It's a lot more fair and fun to both parties.

It's not fun to get 1 shot by some random ability or sword or something. It's not fun to get powergamed by some elite swordsman. It's fun to have a two way roleplay experience with another player where you're both not trying to one up the other persons action, but instead just reacting and acting in a simple but fun way.

EXACTLY. The staff has seemed to have forgotten (imo) that this is a roleplaying game. Where and what is the story? Is there an overarching plot? They’ve turned this entire server into a code-writer’s wet dream with mechanics that defeat the initial and driving intent of the platform even existing.

mechanics are roleplay, create roleplay opportunities, and enhance the immersive experience that is lord of the craft.
