  2. The King of Courland says nothing as he hears of the death of the Count, his heart still sour following Haense's capture of his niece, the murder of his nephew, the execution of the Courlandic Duke of Mardon and the murder of the daughter of one of another Stauntonic Duke.

I’d like to provide some clarification on the idea of “ooc blacklisting.” It’s a popular buzzword that a lot of people throw around, but there’s more to the idea than most people talk about.

I won’t deny that many groups do blacklist people from joining on ooc grounds. It’s not something I’ve ever tried to enforce in Haense (see “Brawms,”) but there’s a simple reason why people began practicing such a thing. It’s often 100% necessary. When somebody devotes himself entirely on an ooc level to tearing down an rp group, even a massive one like Oren, there really isn’t another option for nation leaders except to bar them from that nation on an ooc level.

It happens quite sparingly, as most people don’t have the dedication required to deserve it, but I think it ties in to my only criticism of Vege on this thread, his flips when things don’t go his way IC. Right now, he’s doing pretty well for himself in roleplay, as he has many times before in his endeavors running rp groups, but as soon as the winds changed, his roleplay devolved into blatant trolling and his ooc attitude soured.

I haven’t seen Vege in similar circumstances for many months now, which is why I’m not upvoting or downvoting this application, so who knows, it might have just been a faze. Prove me wrong though, you seem to have made a turnaround in your roleplay, and at the end of the day, that’s all you can ask from someone on lotc.

    Thank you for the feedback,

I would like to emphasise the events which occurred 6 months ago were strictly isolated incidents and are not accurately representative of my true character or the rest of my time on the server.

I will continue to try and show this to everyone else, yourself included.

This is a very hard opinion I have to give.

I firmly believe that every player should get a shot at GM. I have stated this on Malgs and other peoples apps in the past. I believe Vege should also get that chance. But I want to point some things out regarding his behavior in the past as well as recently. It's no secret that Courlands more friendlier RP attitude and simpleness to grasp, attracts alot of the newer roleplayers. This leaves Joe with a very malleable player base that will follow him for good and bad. In the past we've seen the newer players following his example be extremely toxic towads others in the community. Which in turn has create some very strong opinions towards Joe and his nation. However he has shown recently to be very open and accepting towards others while promoting a more friendly environment which is a good thing to see. As for Joes own ban history and troubles with staff I believe he got what he deserved. The level of toxicity towards others shown through RP and Ooc after courland fell was over the top. Even when you came back after Axios started you maintained a toxic attitude and would meme important RP events. Once again thoug however..... in the recent months Joe has cleaned up his act and worked towards friendlier ties towards people who's opinions differed from his own, me included. I believe that he should indeed get a chance. Hopefully he doesn't go meme again...

    +1

Thank you you for the feedback, I appreciate it.

For the largest part of my time of LOTC and with Courland, my attitude and Courland's attitude have been positive towards everyone, prior to the Courland incident I had not engaged in over the top trolly and inappropriate RP.

Following the controversial decision to revoke all of my regions by the GM team and to halt warclaims, I was infuriated that two years of efforts would be discarded because of, what I and many others deem to be an unfair ruling. After being OOCly blacklisted from Oren for the best part of 6 months, being told that I was not allowed to purchase a shop in the human capital because I was Vegetarianism was also treatment that I would consider unfair.

However, after genuine thought and consideration about my actions, I am remorseful. The way I reacted 6 months ago, by tarnishing my overall positive image in the community by behaving in the way I did was inappropriate, and I shan't ever repeat it. I have attempted to repair any relations which may have been harmed during the period, and have attempted to repair my image by behaving in a productive and constructive manner once again. I have learned a lesson from these incidents, that although a situation may be unfavourable, unfair or unjust, it is still better to keep a level head, and to work towards other solutions rather than making rash or impulsive decisions.

I think as most people on my application have stated, if I behave as I normally do, and have been doing, my contributions to the community and to the GM team could be very positive and beneficial, bringing different things to the table that perhaps the GM team or other applicants may be lacking, such as a first hand experience of the ins and outs of every group on LOTC, and a personal relationship with most members of the community, due to my numerous previous positions and characters.

I feel that if I am given the chance to become a trial GM, I would be in a position to prove to other people that may be skeptical, that I do behave how I and others who may know me say that I behave.

  5. Royal Letters for the County of Cheshire

As decreed and confirmed by His Majesty King Tobias Staunton, Second King of the Courlanders, first of his name.

To all those to whom these letters shall come, let it be known that in this, the year of 1600, His Majesty has seen fit to award his loyal servant, Glendon of the House of Stafford, the County of Chesire, for he has proven himself to be loyal, capable and deserving of the privileges that his new rank affords him, raising Barons and levying taxes upon his vassals. We do enfeoff Glendon Stafford, Marshal of Courland to the County of Cheshire, a title they and their legitimate issue shall hold for the duration of their loyal service to the Kingdom. Glendon and his descendents shall be charged with maintaining the law of the realm, and expected to rise to its defence should the time arise. In gratitude for their loyal service, the Crown of Courland promises to protect the rights of succession decided upon by House Stafford, and defend them against any foreign or domestic threats.

The 14th of the Amber Cold, 1599

[!] A missive would be sent from the Palace of Curonberg in Aleksandria to the Royal Court of Haense:

Your Majesty King Marius of Haense,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to you this day. The events that occurred on the 10th of the Amber Cold, 1599 have caused sincere sorrow for my family and my people. Prince Meric was held dear in the hearts of many, a man of great intellect and wit, and often a source of great humour.

Forsooth, it was during his pursuit of friendship and goodwill that he was struck down in your city.  Whilst, if what you claim was true, I would hold no resentment to your government,  for it would be unjust for me to place any blame upon them. However, the information which has thus far been presented to me and my council has suggested that a number of things do not add up.

From your court and your city I have received several letters from Haensetian onlookers and Courlandic spectators alike, which has caused me to doubt the spontaneity of Meric’s death. Soon we will release these letters sent to my court to the public, along with a full description of the assailant.

It is in the interests of both of our people to engage in dialogue, for the sake of peace, for it is when these dialogues break down that diplomacy ends and hostilities begin. I would like to propose a meeting between you and I, each with limited soldiers, in a neutral and fortified location, that we may discuss these issues and finally meet face to face.

    With Knowledge Comes Power,

    Signed,

HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Tobias Staunton, King of Courland, Duke of Eastbourne, Courland, Eruthos, the Heartlands, Frederica, Cascadia, Count of Aleksandria, Riga, Westmark, Beauclair, Sundholt, Wett and Eastmark, Lord of Mt. St. Tobias, Baron of Vsenk, the Rightful Protector of the Heartlanders

Floris van Loden, the acting Maer of St. Karlsburg, watched as the jagged teeth of the city's portcullis groaned before they slammed downwards, biting into the stone below.

It was an odd sight, to see the gate closed. For so long, the city had been a bastion of free trade and travel, where none were rejected and all were welcome. To finally see the gates closed, and guards swarming the modest gatehouse, stirred a sense of mournfulness within him. He knew the feeling was not exclusive to him, either; a small crowd of concerned civilians, townsfolk and traders alike, had gathered near the gate with concerned faces and knitted brows. Rumours had circulated, tales of murder and war, yet none had wanted to believe. Yet the barred gate, once welcoming and now foreboding, confirmed their fears.

"If a bandit kills a northman in Courland, is Courland to blame?" Floris said all of a sudden, drawing the frantic eyes of the concerned townfolk. "Are rogues who reject the will of their own king permitted to sway our foreign policy? Our diplomatic ties?" He paused, as the chilling northern wind swept his words throughout the street. "The Staunton envoy was welcomed by his Majesty, and then he was murdered by a man who could not stomach such an order - a man who went rogue."

He paused at that, and then found that he had furrowed his own brow, as unbidden rage crept into his head. "If a bandit kills a northman in Courland, is Courland to blame?" he repeated, though with greater conviction this time. "Of course not. This tragic murder was carried out by nothing more than a bandit. There will be no war for that, people of St. Karlsburg. Not unless Courland thinks banditry is a valid excuse for war. No, there will be no war.

    Not unless Courland wants it."

The King prepares to release to the public, the letters sent to him from those present in the Haensetians court and the city at the time.

"This man was no citizen, he was a Government official, an attack orchestrated on my nephew, who went to Haense seeking better relations. The Courlandic patience and tolerance for Haense's intolerance is wearing thin." States the King, as he addresses his court.

When the news reached the King of Courland rage filled his heart, the promise he made to his late father, that no Courlander should ever fall to the blade of a northerner again had been shattered. In the royal throne room he paced back and forth like a madman, “MY NEPHEW?” he’d ball, “MY NEPHEW?”

He begins to send missives to all corners of Axios, making preparations for months to come.
