The following proclaimation has been processed, approved, and created by His Majesty's Privy Seal, His Lordship Romeus Carlisle. All decrees are to be put into effect immediately upon the orders of His Majesty, Tobias Staunton. His Majesty is exempt to all decrees and the decrees are subject to change upon His Majesty's request.

 

 

 

 

II. Decretum Decretum - Decree of Common

 

The following is a list of Common Laws set forth by His Majesty and his Privy Seal. Decree is subject to change upon the request of His Majesty and his Privy Council.

 

1. Furta - Thievery

   1. 1. Dependent on the level of Thievery committed and if found guilty by His Majesty and his Privy council, punishment may range from Public Humiliation/Flogging to time in Prison.

 

2. Impetus - Assault

   1. 1. Dependent on both the level of physical damage and who was assaulted punishment can range from Prison time to Public execution if the case is deemed extreme. I.e. Assaulting Officials, His Majesty, est. Perpetrator is subject to trial by the Privy Council if deemed worthy and may send their case to whether or not they are found guilty or exempt as an act of Self-defence.

 

3. Suspicious Voluntatem - Suspicous Intent

4. Participating in any murderous or suspicous acts is strictly prohibited and if found guilty in trial can be subject to either Prison time to Public Execution.

 

 

 

IV Coniuratio - Treason

 

1. If found guilty of Treason by His Majesty and the Privy Council, the accused will be subject to a Public Execution, to be dragged through the city streets of Aleksandria in a cart, where they will be hung, drawn and quartered.

 

 

III. Decretum de Terrae - Decree of the Land

 

 

The following is a list of Property Laws set forth by His Majesty and his Privy Seal. Decree is subject to change upon the request of His Majesty and his Privy Council.

 

1. Possessionis Terrae - Land Ownership

   1. In order to hold land or property of any kind in Courland a person must first make arrangements with the Treasurer of the Privy Council, Percius Mauntel.

 

2. Residential Tributum - Residential Taxes

   1. Upon obtaining a property deemed available, the owner must pay a weekly tax sent to The Treasurer’s Office. If unable to pay tax on time the owner may take a loan of money out from His Majesty’s Treasurer with increasing interest rate every scheduled tax day that the loan isn’t paid off. If the civilian does not follow by his property tax they are subject to time in jail or repossession. Tax may vary in price range depending on the area.

THE EAGLE’S VIGIL

 

The Eagle’s Vigil is the official military of Courland. Formed under the reign of Duke Richard Staunton, the Vigil proved to be a successful and disciplined military order, capable of fulfilling its function of defending the Duchy. Under the reign of Aleksander “The Great” Staunton, the Vigil became the largest military force in all of Valior, and, at its peak, contributed to more than three quarters of the Orenian Empire’s total man power.. After the fall of Riga, the Vigil was scattered and disbanded and remained dormant until the reformation of House Staunton & the Kingdom of Courland. The ranking of the Vigil are as follows;

 

The Marshal

 

The Marshal is the Lord of the order, a proven battle commander and skilled with the blade; he leads the order into battle, appoints officers, and is the chief drillmaster of all the troops.

The original Marshal of The Eagles’ Vigil was Duke Richard Staunton, but the title of Marshal has since been appointed to a loyal, dedicated leader within the Vigil.

 

The General

 

The General is the Marshal’s right hand man and the most trusted commander in the Order. Always a man bloodied in war and tried by its cruel hand, he is the regent in times when the Marshal is not present and the commander of a great many men.

 

The Captain

 

A Captain is a true leader; he knows how to lead and how to follow. Reporting directly to the Marshal himself, captains are often entrusted with the command of divisions due to their experience. The Captain is considered the officer of paramount import within the High Command and ensures that the Lieutenant is doing his job to the best of his ability.

 

The Lieutenant

 

A Lieutenant is a veteran commander within the order, entrusted with larger commands they typically help with instructing decurions in how to perform their job. Lieutenants are associated with a Captain, and assist him in leading their division. They are expected to be the model of discipline, leadership and humility to their peers and lessers within the Vigil.

 

Quartermaster

 

The Quartermaster is the supplier of the Order, always a skilled blacksmith always providing armour and weaponry for the Order. Along with their duties of blacksmithing, all quartermasters serves in the rank and file as traditional soldiery.

 

Medic

 

The Medic is trained in healing others. They are placed within divisions and expected to attend drilling with their brothers. However they are also expected to maintain their ability to heal, and attend regular training sessions lead by the ‘Chief Surgeon’. The Medics specialize in lending aid to fallen brothers or allies,  and, when there are no soldiers to aid, the Medics often perform charity by aiding injured locals.

 

The Ensign

 

Ensigns are model soldiers, exemplars of discipline and loyalty. Awarded to the longest serving soldiers within the Vigil; a rank designed to reward loyalty and devotion. Although these men may not be fit of command, they prove the backbone of any battleline.

 

The Man-at-Arms

 

The Men-at-Arms are the imposing product of the Vigil’s intensive training procedures, weathered soldiers who have been exposed to the rough of battle and have prevailed. The bulk of the Eagle’s Vigil consists of these brave veterans, who proudly form the front line, prepared to accept only two outcomes: victory or death.

 

 

The Initiate

 

The new bloods of the order, the Initiates have yet to take the oath and to prove their worth. Tasked with grunt work, and subjected to the harsh discipline of the Drillmasters, these green young men are evaluated and pushed to their limits over the course of their initiation, at the end of which they are assigned to a division. Though young and inexperienced, these aspiring soldiers comprise the future of the Eagle’s Vigil.

 

Presently there are no other officially recognised military groups within the Kingdom.

 

 

III. HOUSE STAUNTON

 

House Staunton hails its origins from the Atherian messa, Percival I, founder of House Staunton, holding his first lands there. House Staunton were ennobled in 1496, when Percival Staunton became the Baron of Eastbourne, in the Duchy of Vanaheim. House Staunton became a Great House of Oren in 1527, as Percival was named the first Duke of Courland, as a reward from Emperor John Horen for his role in uniting the fifth Empire. The present generation of Stauntons have ancestors from the Emperors of the fourth and fifth Empires, with Aleksander’s line being directly related to Emperor John Horen.

 

The sigil of House Staunton is the white eagle, the standard of the Eagle’s Vigil. The house colours were changed to green, black and grey during the time the family held the Barony of Fjordham. Their house words, as inscribed on the family's most prized relic, the rapier of Percival I, are “With Knowledge Comes Power.”

 

House Staunton was divided into two distinctive branches following the fall of Riga, with a new cadet house forming, the House of Staunton-Hearth (Sven Hearth, first son of Aleksander),

 

The current members of house Staunton who are currently known to be alive are as follows;

 

His Royal Majesty, King Tobias Staunton I - Tobias, son of Aleksander, named after his great, great, grandfather, Emperor Tuvya, is the current head of state. He is known for his decisiveness and boldness, much like his father.

 

Her Royal Majesty, Queen Lisette Staunton- The wife of Tobias, she is also known by her maiden name Lisette Ashford de Aryn.

 

 

His Highness, the Duke of Curon, Prince Joseph Alexander Staunton - Joseph Alexander is the heir apparent and eldest son of Tobias Staunton.

 

His Highness, Prince Svenald Staunton-Hearth - Sven is the eldest son of Aleksander and the founder of the Staunton-Hearth line. He currently holds the County of Hearth and is known for his patience.

 

His Highness, Prince Meric Staunton-Hearth - The son of Sven Staunton, known for his wit and reason.

 

Her Highness, Princess Princess Elizabeth Maria Staunton - The eldest daughter of Tobias Staunton, holding a striking resembelencr to her grandmother, Philippa Staunton.

 

 

Her Highness, Princess Annabelle Philippa Staunton-Hearth - The second daughter of Sven, famed throughout the realm for her unparalleled beauty.
