The Common Sense Standard [Death To Mechstandard!]
OmegaGinger replied to 501warhead's topic in News & Announcements Archive
Alright, I'm kind of a new kid on the block when it comes to LOTC, but not when it comes to RP, and I can tell you that allowing PvP in any way is detrimental sans in a battle in a war. There are no situations that I can organically conceive that cannot be solved via RP combat or just RP. I come from Age of Mythology, which has a huge RP circuit, and if you don't know, it's an RTS, so the main difference between MineCraft and AoM is the ability to control multiple units, but the way the RP maps were set up was that there was rapid building time and no resource costs, so everyone is essentially given the ability to destroy the others easily, but nobody ever actually fought in-game. It was all RP combat, if at all, and it was much higher quality. Common sense is nice in theory, but that implies that everyone has the same standard of common sense. Common sense may be common, but it varies from person to person. This isn't horrible, but it can be so much better. \endrant- 48 replies

Dear King of Oren, I wish for an audience with you. I have great matters I wish to discuss with you involving the future economy of the Reformed Kingdom and Oren and the sooner this audience could occur, the better. I tried to contact your stewards or any of your guards, but my efforts proved fruitless, so I am forced to resort to ink and paper. Again, the sooner I may have an audience, the better. Thank you, Ser. Signed, Nathaniel Bloodwell Steward of Arcton Nathaniel finishes writing the letter, grabs a bird, and sends it off to the king, hoping for a quick reply.

Nature of the bug: My compost and bonemeal at the time do not work on my crops. (4:20 EST) First occurrence : I logged on twenty minutes ago and was forced to replant my raided farm. After a modreq, I tried to use compost/bone meal, which was burned and proved fruitless in their job. I asked said mod and he said to suggest it on the bug forum (501warhead, around 4:00 EST) Describe exactly all the actions you took leading up to the bug: Same as first occurrence. What messages are/aren't you getting that you would/wouldn't get normally: My crops should be growing. They are not. Frequency of occurrence: This is the first time Are you able to reproduce the bug: I can show you at the moment. My farm is just north of Arcton, and it provides food for Arcton, so as soon as you can help, please do. Thank you.

The Reform Of The County Of Ayr
OmegaGinger replied to Talesofvalor40's topic in Athera Roleplay Archive
Nathaniel steps away from the post and marvels at the work. Weeks of work and effort have finally brought him and his family here. "The dawn of a new era. . ." He turns to walk away. "Maybe finally some damn peace for once. . ." -
Nathaniel Bloodwell notices the board of the Alchemist's Guild. He's been wanting to try his hand at alchemy, but has never really had the chance before he got to Vanderfell. He scribbles a note requesting an alchemy teacher to contact him, as he wishes to learn the alchemical arts. "Hope this works."

What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: Omega_Ginger How old are you?: 17 Are you aware the server is PG-13 (You won’t be denied for being under 13): Yep Have you applied to this server before? (Please link all past applications): Nope Have you read and agreed to the rules?: Yep What’s the rule you agree with the most?: The metagaming/powergaming rule is most important, especially involving a MineCraft RP, or any other RP for that matter. It prevents organic improv and allows for biased RP. Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense?(If so we can help clear it up! You will not be denied for having a question on the rules): I don't understand why a ban is a single mod's decision and not left up to a council or something. That allows for a lot of bias potentially. How did you find out about Lord of the Craft? My friends piekiller and TalesofValor40 informed me of this server Definitions What is roleplaying?: assuming the guise of a character, traditionally self-made, for story-creating purposes in games such as Warcraft, Age of Mythology, and Dungeons & Dragons meets What is metagaming?: use of out-game resources in-game i.e. using information obtained OOC IC; Person A find Person C, Person A tells Person B where Person C is OOC when their characters have no means of communicating IC, Person C is found by Person B, Roleplay is forever ruined What is powergaming?: performing unrealistic actions that your character is incapable of performing or that detriments all other characters. Focusing on PvP is a minor example. A better one would be that your character gains the power to kill everyone ever, or something as exaggerated as that. In-Character Information Character’s name: Nathaniel Bloodwell Character’s gender: Male Character’s race: Human Character’s age: 45 Biography: Nathaniel grew up the second son of the matrilinneal marriage between Aida Bloodwell and Angar Feissman in the town of Vekaro. Being the second son, he was not entitled to any land from the family. His mother took pity on him and raised him with knowledge of the natural world, teaching him of plants and various potions and poultices she had learned in her life. She would even occasionally bring wandering alchemists from town and request a small lesson for him. Soon, tragedy struck. His family came down with the plague, and despite all of Nathaniel's knowledge, he could generate a cure for his ailing family. For some unknown reason, he was spared, but he was forced to watch his family wither away from sickness. On her death bed, Aida told Nathaniel of her twin brother, Aidan, and the relatives Nathaniel could have post-mortem. Her last words to him were Vanderfell. Nathaniel sold all his family's lands, gathered what supplies he could, and left the Fringe for the town of Vanderfell, hoping to find his relatives. From the Fringe, he went to Thales, and from Thales he went to Athera. His search for the Bloodwell family led him to Petrus, a testament to the innovation and grandeur of the human race. Nathaniel learned of some Bloodwell working in the city guard. after introductions, they pointed him north to Cloud Temple. When Nathaniel came upon Cloud Temple, he had a pleasant discussion with the monks on the aspects of beneficial alchemy before they sent him on his way north-by-northeast to Vanderfell. Upon reaching the city, he asked around for anyone by the surname "Bloodwell," to which everyone informed him of Skaran and Wombak of the Bloodwell line. After some uncomfortable dialogue and much distrust, Wombak and Skaran welcomed their long lost kinsman into their life. Nathaniel now continues his alchemical studies in Vardenfell with his newfound family. Personality Traits: calm, studious, welcoming, natural, distanced due to work and studies Ambitions: pursue alchemical knowledge Strengths/Talents: alchemy, intelligence Weaknesses/Inabilities: weak with weaponry, distance from society, inability to understand some basic social customs Appearance: 6'0" 210lbs.
