  1. Modreqs do not make the GM. There are many other parts of being a GM, and while Luke did incredibly well, the others exceeded expectations in other departments alongside doing a large amount of modreqs.
  2. Monthly GM Log Introduction ‘Lo there! Right, there’s a big month this month and I’m gonna get into it. I hope you all had a great Winter Break and are looking forward to the new year. We have a lot to talk about, so in this log we will be talking about the Trials that have passed, the trials we are bringing on, how they have done and, most important, talking about the GM Team Purge. We’re still looking at ways to improve or expand upon these logs so please, feel free in offering your input. Thomas: Well this month has been something. Very hectic for me, personally, but I still think despite this change, everyone performed exceptionally well. I’m exceedingly pleased with all trials this month, not just the ones who passed. They did brilliantly, though we made it clear that we wished to start taking less of the trials we chose and unfortunately not all met that cut. Being a GM isn’t just about getting modreqs done, there are so many other facets to the job which need to be watched over and worked on, and each of those factors are analysed very critically when we go to review one of the trials. Do not let this sway you from taking that leap forward and making the choice to apply for the GM Team, or to re-apply if you have failed your trial in the past. Trials Once again, the first order of business is the announcement of our new Trial GMs! Selected for their desire to drive the team forward and engage with the playerbase, the Trials this Month are as follows! With every new batch of trials, an announcement must follow in regards to the status of the Trials of the previous month. So below are the Trials who passed the January Trial, and will be joining us on the Team fully! Unfortunately Sky, Nalatac and Luka had not passed their trials. Though no major fault of their own, we were only looking to take a select few of the Trials onto the team and unfortunately they simply did not meet the criteria. To give a run down. Here is how the trial selection process works: The GM Managers look through the current GM Applications and write down all of the names onto a Google Form, which is then linked to the GM Team to vote on who they would like to see interviewed. The GM Managers, and Lead, take each and every one of these applicants into an interview room, either Discord or Skype, and ask a few questions regarding who they are, what their desires are and question them verily on both their attitude on the server, and their application. Following this, the Management put each of their interviews into google docs, which are then linked in a compiled thread in the GM Forum for the GMs to look over, analyse and provide feedback on each member. After taking in the feedback, Management discuss and make their picks from the batch, and submit those names to the GM Team for a final round of feedback. The GM Team provide feedback on the final pick, if no one objects, the Trial is taken on and inducted during the Monthly meeting. If objections are made, the trial is placed back into the pending section and a new pick is chosen. Resignations/Removals As with most months, we must unfortunately say farewell to some members of our Game Moderation Team. While we bid farewell, we are thankful for their tenure on our team, and are grateful for the work they provided to the server. The GM Team: Well, let’s get into it. This month it was decided that we would do a “Staff Purge” of all GMs, bar the Management and recently passed trials, and place them on a ‘Self-Reviewal’ month. There are a multitude of reasons for this, from the growing and occasionally outcropping destructive nature which seems to arise from a bad apple of the bunch, to the mentality of GM Superiority, the nature and behaviour, position and status, of the GM Team has grown over the years and has reached a point of difficult return. This is not the fault of the GMs, this is the fault of the Management and Leadership of the GM Team over the years for not noticing the decline and doing something about it. So here we are, doing something about it. I will explain how this is going to work: Today, on the 28th of January, all GMs will be de-pex’d and demoted from the GM Team. The Trials who have just passed (Sid, Cablam) will be elevated to GMs. The Managers (Beast, Zhulik and Josh) will be demoted to GM. Harrison, a recently promoted Trial (and past Manager) who currently leads the War Team will be promoted to Manager. 8 Trials will be taken for the month of February. All GMs who were demoted will be given one month of review, by myself, and from themselves, to determine whether or not they even wish or should be a GM. Any GM who re-applies will be re-added to the Team for the March Trials (8 total at a time, any others will be brought on in April) and will undergo Trial once again through the new expectations and standards set by the GM Lead. I am in the process of creating a comprehensive document of what our expectations are for members of the GM Team in terms of interactivity, training, standards, communication and all other things relating to the competency of a GM. This will be made public once it is completed. - If you wish to learn more about this, please contact myself privately. Note. A caveat in this is that the GMs who are being demoted are still expected to behave and be on their usual good behaviour. If rules are broken of their attitude is deemed detrimental, their ‘get GM’ card will be revoked. Modreq Data Following the data from every month, we gather and collect the count from Modreqs that have been done over the span of the monthly cycle. We compile it in a google spreadsheet and publicise it here for all to see. This month we had a total of 4000 Modreqs. With our quota set at 3%, the total number of modreqs a GM would require to reach quota this month would have been 123 with a margin of error being 121-125. Last month we had around 3545 Modreqs, giving us a little over 50 more this month. Here is where I would normally list why certain people did not meet quota this month, though it was a hard month for all and GMs have known for the past week and a half about the purge so that likely hindered their focus. Projects Although projects are not a necessary working point for the GMs, we’re constantly looking at ways to benefit our server and overhaul certain parts of our server for the betterment of the playerbase. Make Axios Pretty Again A continued project, MAPA is something that was started by i_am_Ricky and continued by ShadowedOblivion has now been picked up by Cablam. Due to the nature of this project, it will continue to be a part of our workload for a while. To find out more about this project, check our last Monthly Log. Roads is a part of this. War System Following our release of the War Rules, we understood that they weren’t entirely received positively. Because of this, we will be working on a new System not only in regards to the rules, but in the way we handle future Warclaims and Wars themselves. Map Research A project run by myself, I will be researching the feelings and thoughts in regards to the maps, past and present, on Lord of the Craft. We with to accurately gauge the opinion on what players look for in maps, as to ensure we make the correct choice in future. Current Member List: Lead: Tahmas Managers: HB Members: Josh3738 Big_Sexy_Beast Zhulik Cablam Sid Trials: Angmarzku Vaynth LadyRebecca Niccum Malinor Harold MagicPastry AssassinofAwsome As always, we urge you to ask questions should you have any. If you have any concerns regarding the server, the GM team or anything else, please feel free to contact a member of the GM Team and will do our best to help. GM Applications A notice. Every GM Application has once again been denied. This is due to our new GM Application. You can find this here: I hope everyone has a fantastic month. -Thomas. <#
  3. What is a Game Moderator? The Game Team is designed and faceted to moderate anything and everything relating directly to the in-game medium that is Lord of the Craft. The Staff of LotC is split up into different Teams in order to adequately encompass all aspects of the server which require moderation. Game Moderators are taken on board to interact with the Playerbase directly on a day to day basis to assist in solving problems, dealing with conflicts and upholding the server rules and regulations which they assist in constructing. They are tasked with assisting the Playerbase with issues that arise; though they too are one with the Playerbase. The rules and regulations created by the Team collectively are still enforced upon themselves, and are bound to the very same rules as everyone else. How do I Apply? On the Game Team we employ a 'Trial Period'. Designed and implemented to ensure that Accepted Applicants are well versed in the commands, the protocols we employ and are fully aware of the guidelines we follow, 'Trials' are tested during their period of service (one month) to determine their co-operation and versatility on the Team. At the end of their Trial Period, they are assessed and evaluated based on their contributions and attitude before and during their trial. Note: Simply becoming a Trial does not mean that one is guaranteed to pass their trial. Game Moderators are held to a high standard and are critically judged for the duration, and after their trial should they pass. Simply passing your Trial does not guarantee you a permanent spot on the team, either. We expect you to meet a high standard, and continue to uphold said standard during your tenure as a GM. If you fall below expectations, you may find yourself subject to removal. - Do not allow this to discourage you, however, as you are always more than welcome to try once more and prepare yourself for the Trial again. Application Minecraft name/s: (List the username of your main, and any alternate accounts) Age: (Your age in whole years. Must be at least 14.) Timezone: (State your Timezone. Ex: GMT-6) Skype/Discord: (Both are required) What is your availability: (Tell us how many hours you can spend on the server daily, and between what times.) Tell us an issue you currently experience on the server: (If you’re experiencing problems on the server at this current time, please state what they are.) How do you feel individual GMs should present themselves?: (In your personal opinion, how should GMs communicate with the Playerbase, how should they act?) How do you feel the GM team collectively should present itself?: (In your personal opinion, how should the GM Team be led? How should the Team operate?) Please list three players who will vouch for you: (Ensure you contact these people first and let them know you are putting them down. We will then contact these people to get a feel for how you are as a person.) What is your relationship with the members of the current GM Team?: (Do you particularly work well with specific members of the current team? Have you had disagreements or disputes with certain members in the past, how do you believe this will affect your role:?) What are your finest and worst traits?: (Shoot for two or three of each. This part is to have you analyse yourself.) Tell us about your time on Lord of the Craft: (This is the most detailed part of the application. We want to know what your progress has been on the server. Have you been on any staff teams? Where have you predominantly played? What aspects are the most memorable to you, and why?) What parts of the server are you most interested in?: (What is it about Lord of the Craft that compels you? Is it the Lore of the server, the development and plugins?) Other than yourself, who of the current applicants would you like to see on the GM Team?: (Who, out of the current applicants, do you feel would make a good GM?) Clarification - Combat Rules Running from roleplay using MC mechanics is not allowed unless PVP combat has been chosen as a form of combat to be used, and it is done following a proper countdown. If a player runs from roleplay, the other side may PvP him and is under no obligation to revive him. The person running may also face punishment. Note that yelling "Halt" is not valid rp to initiate PvP. If they don't stop to respond, you cannot give chase with PvP. Clarification: - This is only if you run from RP without emoting. If you emote and roleplay running away, you can run. This rule applies only if you No-RP run.

  15. Monthly GM Log Introduction Hello there, it’s that time of the Month again (scree). As previously stated in the last months, we bring these Logs to try and give an eye in on what the GM Team are currently doing, who is on the team and who is not to help players new and old get the information they require. We’re constantly looking at ways to improve or expand upon these logs, so feel free to offer your input if you have any! Thomas: Josh is a try-hard. Yeah this month was hard, we had our ups and downs but at the end of the day we’re still here. I have some ideas for the coming months, and we’re forming a very strong team. I’m confident with the people we have and I’m greatly looking forward to next year. 2017 should be pretty fun, and we’re ready to go. Happy new year, to all of you. Beast: This month was a hard one for everyone. With many of our team being home for the holidays it made it difficult to obtain the response times we wanted. Things should start to return to normal in early January. Happy new Years. Josh: December is certainly the hardest month of the year when it comes to activity and keeping organized. As can be expected with any month loaded with holidays, we had quite a few people out on hiatus and off on vacation with family. We are fortunate, however, to have one of the best versions of the GM team we’ve had in quite some time and with the perseverance of our fantastic GMs we got through without everything blowing up. Yay! In the coming month we’re looking forward to working with some really good candidates for trials and I expect great things to come from their induction into the team. As a side note to GM trials and applications, we still plan to work through more applications and interviews for those of you who have put their name forward for the job. Overall it’s been a rough month but we’ve pushed through and we’ve got a lot of promising things coming up for the new year. Trials Once again, the first order of business is the announcement of our new Trial GMs! Selected for their desire to drive the team forward and engage with the playerbase, the Trials this Month are as follows! With every new batch of trials, an announcement must follow in regards to the status of the Trials of the previous month. So below are the Trials who passed the December Trial, and will be joining us on the Team fully! Wrynn: Once again we bid our goodbye to a friend of ours. Wrynn, during his second tenure, worked as diligently and as gleefully as the first. We are thankful for his service and will miss him with all of our waffle hearts. Spoduminister: After a very short tenure, Spod unfortunately decided to leave us. While we are upset that he abused my Modpack server.. He still did a great job and provided an enjoyable atmosphere for all around during his time. We thank him for his service. ThePyroDude: Steady decline in performance as a GM, further information can be found via talking to an Administrator or GM Manager directly. Modreq Data Following the data from every month, we gather and collect the count from Modreqs that have been done over the span of the month. I’m going to keep this short, like the rest of the post, because it’s the end of the month and I may or may not be partially hungover. We had a bit of a mess up with the numbers today due to a quick reset in the ReportRTS, so maybe 10-20 modreqs have been lost in terms of stats. This month we had a total of 3545 Modreqs. With our quota set at 3%, the total number of modreqs a GM would require to reach quota this month would have been 106 with a margin of error being 104-108. Last month we had around 3311 Modreqs, giving us a little over 200 more this month. We estimated to receive around 2400 d ue to the December month, however we appear to have majorly miscalculated, and instead received about 1000 more than estimated. Here are the people who did not meet quota, accompanied by reasoning behind such: It says that Ambduscias did not meet quota, but he did meet quota. It was Christmas... ShadowedOblivion: Like really? Beast720: Spend time with your family.. Projects Although projects are not a necessary working point for the GMs, we’re constantly looking at ways to benefit our server and overhaul certain parts of our server for the betterment of the playerbase. 16. Updated Main Post Additions: Drawbacks So, after hearing of the benefits and understanding of how the Kal'Varak works, what are the disadvantages of using the Kal'Varak? There is one major drawback to entering the Varak, and such is the state of your mental psyche. The Varak, or the Mind City, utilises your own ability in this 'mindscape' and due to such, your Mind can begin to take detriment if used too often, or for too long. Below is a list of possible drawbacks: Disassociation with people and the 'real world'. Short to Long Term Mania. Soul splitting Soul lost to the Kal'Varak Illness, Nausea Starvation, Dehydration Loss of Time Comprehension Death Short to Long Term Coma A note regarding body switching: This cannot be used to somehow negate the effects of the 'Race Curse'. Should a Human switch bodies with an Elf, the age Curse will still apply, and so on. This means that a ninety year old Human who switches bodies with a twenty year old Human will still likely die of old age at a young age. Age and the curse is effective and bound to the soul, not the body. All the while a body is swapped, the mind of the swapped person will begin to deteriorate. Loss of focus, haziness, possible loss of memories if it goes on for too long. The person has to be willing OOCly due to the major drawbacks. ICly consent doesn't matter. Updated with drawbacks. The soul will effectively 'accept' the new body for the time it has been swapped, is the basic work around we've determined. It will heal that body as the soul has accepted the new body. The mind however can and will deteriorate. I fixed it.
  17. The Izalith came to a slowed pace, breaching a pause as Ceruberr spoke up. With his back turned to the square, the young Mali'thill found difficulty in suppressing his smile. As his mildly perturbed behaviourism was quenched, his weight shifted in a circular motion as his attention pivoted alongside his weighted heel. With his face now turned towards the assembly once again, his head dipped with accentual motion to indicate his respect for the words spoken. "And so you are correct, Mister Ceruberr, and as was my intention. Yes, you are correct, and yes you do raise the most important of points. And such my argument is dissected, and such was it's intent." Crumena rocked against his heels, gesturing to Sul'onn Tahn'thill to his right. "Do I believe in these words? My own, not yours. Do I believe and truly hold faith in a Okarir'lliran position replacing that of Okarir'maehr? No. Of course I do not. Do I wish to dismantle the Okarir'maehr position? No. I do not." The Izalith allowed his ardent gaze to flicker between each and every face in the square, his hands extending out to coincide with his words, his wrists snapping and flicking to accentuate each and every word he spoke. "So why did I make this proclamation? Was it to occupy my time? No. I did not do this out of boredom, I did not do this out of ill-thought. I made this suggestion, I spoke these words, because in truth.. I am fearful of what line we may draw under the guidance of one who may not be as forthcoming with the position. Mister Icarus is a fine Mali'aheral, he is debted and well serving and he will perform an adequate job. Exceptional, however? Well such remains to be seen, and following an exemplary tenure as Okarir'maehr, Iaria Elervathar progressed our kind leaps and bounds. Such is not an easy task to replicate, and I would be lying if I was to proclaim that I believed that Mister Icarus could fulfil this task to the highest calibre." With a levied weight on one heel, he shifted and placed a palm against his Constructs ebon arm, his soft features accentuating his genuine tone, "And so I wanted to test. What is the measure of a Mali'aheral when one opposes his position? Now I could have ran against him as Okarir'maehr, and although I have my own beliefs regarding my own abilities in such an area, that was not my wish or concern. I have no current interest to sit within the halls, but - My interest does lie within ensuring that those who do, are to the highest standard and are able to face situations with a steady hand and a brave face. To test someone you must threaten to take what they have, and so I did. I stood there and I made an argument. I chose an argument which would put Mister Icarus into a short alarmed period. To see what he did, to see how he composed himself and to ensure that he was level headed enough to take on one of our most sacred and most important positions within our ilk. I have been in many positions, I have been to many places. From born Royalty in Celein, to Administration in the Orenien Empire, I personally have seen greater figures fall victim to their own inability to process opposition." His otherwise softened expression turned stoic and serious, his tone shifting in weight as his statements drew on. "I want to ensure that our kind move forward and brave the harsh world with an eager stride. I know the powers that shift around us, I exhibit them firsthand... I must test and ensure that such holds true. With that said, however, I do believe that efforts should be employed to increase foreign relations, though such is, as stated, not necessary of a position. It is a sight to behold that so many stand to support a position so integral to Mali'thilln, and I am humbled to hear said support." The Izalith trailed back once again, turning to depart from the square with his hands held towards the base of his spine. He did not say another word, though from the glance he shot towards Elmalaurir, it was evident that his words were sincere and his speech was done.
  18. I'm going to write up the side effects for body swapping and the additional parts that was supposed to be added before this actually went up on the forums.
  19. Crumena finger guns Sul'onn as they depart.
  20. Standing within the centre of Elheial'thilln, adorned in fine robes and accompanied with the Okarir'tir at his side, a familiar face stood with his feet against the ground, his attention locked upon the crowd before him as papers were handed out by his Constructs. He spoke fervently about the topic at hand: "To all who hear my voice, and all who read my words, I wish to propose an amendment to the positions held on Silver Council on high. To preface: The document in question, proclaimed through voice and words, is determined to denounce the position of Okarir'maehr, and instead promote the chair of Okarir'lliran. Through description and levy of opinions of current Mali'aheral in and out of office, the following information is set to explain why and how these changes must and may come into place." (Credit to LadyRebecca for finding this image.) "To begin, one must truly understand what an Okarir'maehr, The Guardian of Wisdom, is, and what they do. Look down upon the document in your hands, lliran, and read the definitions they hold!" The Familiar face gestured with wide arms, enthusiasm and genuine passion held within his features. Laden upon the page would be, as mentioned, the following list, accompanied with the following dissections: Eternal Guardianship Set to preside over the Eternal Library, the Okarir'maehr must ensure that the knowledge of elheial'thilln and those within the tomes are protected. Eternal Instruction Tasked with ensuring lessons and knowledge are passed from generation to generation, the Okarir'maehr must record and proclaim knowledge within. Eternal Supervision To preside and distribute the internal laboratories, the Okarir'maehr must ensure that the research made is at the forefront of learning and technology. Chronicling Working in conjunction with Elmalaurir, the Okarir'maehr must set and chronicle the path for the Mali'aheral, ensuring our ways and traditions are passed on. "Knowing what we know, do we truly believe that a position held within our Council, the Council with the executive decision to impart changes within our home, should be held by a position with such minimal impact?" Crumena Izalith, the source of the voice proclaimed loud and clear, "It is the duty of our Okarir'maehr to protect and write knowledge within our tomes. This is pure, this is true. A wonderful service, through and through, and one never to be taken lightly. Though is it not the duty of our precious Malaurir to preserve and guide our ilk from generation to generation? One could argue, and I am one to indeed make this claim, that the duty of elokarir'maehr and the duty of elmalaurir are all too similar to discount. Our presence, our history and culture lay within the bindings of those pages, and through elected and determined proof, it is the duty of Elmalaurir to protect and propel us forth with those tomes in question. Why, then, must our Malaurir hold no authority or hold over the tomes within those halls? Why, then, must the Eternal Librarian, be making decisions for our home and our kind when the duties so closely coincide with that of another?" With a draw breath, his heels rocked back and his weight shifted from side to side. As the Izalith propelled his voice forth once again, he gestured to the document within his hands. "Look now, and see my proposition! For I do not wish for our positions unfilled, and I do not wish our Eternal Library to fall into disrepair! Instead, I wish for the duties to be bound to those most able, and who more able than our current Malaurir?" Malaurir Guidance and Counsel The Maheral acts as the Spiritual and cultural guide of the Mali'aheral, and domestic and foreign counsel to Eluthir and the Silver Council in terms of culture, traditions, and the guiding principle we all stand by. The Malaurir will hence take position and duty, as has always been so, to protect and oversee the spread and proclamation of Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya wherever possible, and must offer guidance to all who seek it. Mediation Taking up the duty as one has always done, the Maheral must mediate on domestic and foreign conflicts between Mali'aheral, and between ilk and others so that the correct choice can be made. Succession Such is the duty and task of the Maheral to select and proclaim their own successor, so long as the individual is pure, holding impeccable record and accepted by the people as their Maheral. Precedent remains so that should public unrest be seen due to the ascension, or otherwise absence, of Elmaheral, the new Maheral is chosen by the twice-previous. Chronicling Taking on the position from the dismantled Okarir'maehr, the Maheral must continue, as one has done in the past, to chronicle and outline the path of the Mali'aheral, assuring that our traditions, our ways and our acts are passed down from one generation to the next. Eternal Scholar Guardianship Continuing the role of Eternal Guardianship, the Eternal Scholar, now a Governmental Position outside of the Silver Council, is tasked with presiding and ensuring that all knolwedge of generations past is held and tended to, and that the library is well protected. Instruction As was the task before, the Eternal Scholar must instruct those who wish for wisdom and knowledge, directing them to the correct location to find such. They must teach and ensure the knowledge is passed on, and not simply held on a page. Supervision The laboratories will remain within the control of the Eternal Scholar, and they will be tasked to ensure they are well tended to. When working in conjunction with Elmalaurir, the Eternal Scholar must assure that each experiment and task is focused on the propulsion of our kind. "As one Council position is removed, another must take it's place. In the stead of Okarir'maehr, I propose the position of Okarir'lliran. The Guardian of Peace, it is the duty of the 'lliran to provide ample and adequate relations, both domestic and foreign, and keep our allies allied, and our people happy!" Crumena Izalith continued to circle the square, his hands held towards the base of his spine as his voice resonated through the central placement of the elheial'thilln. The Voice of the Council Dutied and tasked to spread and voice the words of the Council and Elmalaurir, the Okarir'lliran must be poised and ready to propel themselves into the state of the people. When a decision is made, it is the task of the Okarir'lliran to dedicate and proclaim the words to the people, both internal and external and ensure that all are knowing of the choices made. The Diplomatic Bridge Through thick and thin, the Okarir'lliran must reach to those allied with the Silver State and ensure such diplomatic assurance is met. Tasked with ensuring that peace is kept between two parties, the Okarir'lliran is often sent away as a foreign ambassador to other cities and Nation's, their task: Creating an unbreakable bridge between our allies. The Silver Emissary Not only is it the task of the Okarir'lliran to improve diplomacy between two Nation States, they are tasked to focus and propel their voices across all foreign neighbours, dutied and debted to keep up to date with foreign politics, and ensure that the Silver State is moving forward with the worldly powers. The Okarir'lliran ensures that we are not left behind in our movements and our relationships, by any means necessary under the guide of Elmalaurir and Eluthir. As his speech came to a soft close, the ardent gaze of the voice within elheial'thilln centre slowly shifted from face to face, his composure well kept and practised. With a final statement, his voice rose once more: "And why is this necessary? To truly be one with ourselves, to truly ensure that our people are healthy and forward-thinking, we must progress and adapt with the times. In this ever changing word of mass powers, it is our focus to keep our people, our prosperity and our traditions safe. It is our duty, our task, to keep the lives and status of all Mali'aheral pure and healthy.. With our forward-thinking and stalwart Maheral, a shift in nature and shift in our tone will prove to bring great stride for our kind. To ensure repeats of previous events, we must ensure that our lliran are indeed our lliran, and that those who oppose us lack the ability to infiltrate our culture, and abuse our alliances." "Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya." As the Izalith handed out the last of the documents, he turned to vacate the area alongside the Okarir'tir and his Constructs, moving towards the upper district.

  22. You're 100% right here. It's not the Administrators to handle these, it is the collective GM Team who then just get Administrative approval, however as the GM Lead I can tell you this is something we want updated. For some reason a bunch of rules were lost in the rewrite, and we want to go through the entire page and, rule by rule, iron everything out and ensure all gaps are filled. We are also considering making a forum in feedback for "Rule Suggestions", which would allow players to look and suggest new rules, alterations or removals to rules etc, and we would submit new rule amendments there for a week for players to give feedback on before implementation or denial. How does this sound?
