Hi guys!
I thought that I'd try making an orc skin. Since this is me, and I might end up using her eventually, I decided to make a girl. As in, a GIRL girl. A child. I used Nova Skin to make her, since it has cool tools that help the shading look good. And make it easier.
The first thing I wanted to do was make a skin base. Since this was Nova Skin, it pretty much amounted to dragging around the rectangle function until I was happy. I did a similar thing with the hair, and then added eyes and a mouth with my usual method, though this time I added small tusks at the side. They're only one pixel tall because she's young.
With the base skin out of the way, I started working on a dress in another layer. I didn't put any shading on it yet, though, and mainly focused on getting the right shape.
Here's what the dress and base skin look like together at this stage:
Pretty simple, and definitely not finished. So then, I added layers on the base skin's hair.
Followed by shading the dress. Again, the rectangle function was useful.
And here's what it looks like all together:
Much better. But still a little drab. The next step is going to be adding some sort of decoration to the dress, most likely. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what to add yet. (I'm also not sure whether to add shoes or not.)
If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let me know in the comments or through PMs. Thanks!
Edit 1: As per @The Chaotic Cookiie 饼's suggestion, I have added armbands. I'm still not sure what to do with more layers ATM, though.
Edit 2: Based on @Bunny :)'s advice, I have separated the top and bottom parts of the dress, and removed part of the hair.
