In-Character Information Character’s name: Jaggera Leonox (this is what he is most commonly called as his birth name (Gager’ae) is often mispronounced as Jaggera- so he stuck with it.) Character’s sex: Male Character’s race: Dark Elf mutt (little bit of Wood Elf’s blood in him) Character’s age: 20 Biography: Jaggera is the eldest son of two in his immediate family who, like most Dark Elf children, was introduced to sword training and martial arts at a young age and grew up in the colorful city of Riv’vallel - nothing too abnormal as a child besides getting a little too rough with sword training and slicing his lips and eyebrow open. However most of Jaggera’s story begins after he is separated from his family at the age of seven during a trip they were taking between cities. They stopped nearby a large river and Jag, being the curious child, ventured over to the cliff to look down into the water before they took off again. He got too close to the edge and the rock crackled underneath him, sending him falling into the river. By the time his parents could’ve responded he was swept pretty far ahead. The river separated into a couple and then several branches of streams, prompting hopelessness in his caretakers. They still looked for him as best as they could, after a week of searching by themselves they went into the city to get help and two weeks after that they started giving up. Their son miraculously survived with a few injuries, as the current was forceful but not raging and he was able to hold his breath. He ended up getting caught by a rock that redirected him into a weaker stream that took him in a much different direction than where his parents thought he’d end up. He ended up in a forest and lived there for a couple of years, having multiple instances where he almost starved to death. He built a mediocre home by burning and hollowing out part of the inside of a tree and using branches tied together with numerous long grasses as a barrier to cover the mouth of his hideout. He survived mostly off of mushrooms, fish, and varying other meats after he learned to set proper traps, as at many points in time he was too weak to hunt. Many of the traps he created involved spears, the only weapon he found he could craft given his resources, which gained it his favor. After two years (age nine) he gained enough strength to wander without worry, he began exploring the forest a bit more and found it connected to a marsh which contained much bigger game. He started setting up traps over the course of a couple days, during which he slipped and wounded his left shoulder before falling in the water (again), the wound of which becomes infected. He’d return to the marsh to check on the traps he set up with a festering bacterial infection eating at the skin and muscle on his shoulder. He trapped some fairly strong game, but as he gained proximity to the animal it managed to free itself from the trap and knock him out before charging off. He woke up in a small cabin, clean and dainty, before realizing an old human woman at his side had been watching him. He found that she had cleaned up his wound and was told that with more attention it should heal, but it had caused permanent damage to the muscle in his shoulder . He stayed with her for about a year before she passed on from old age, and Jaggera took on the small cabin and continued to take care of the garden she had for another two. He was unfortunately run out of the house by travellers and rather stay in the deep forest again, he decided to find a city and move on. He started living on the edge of Linandria and resorted to picking through garbage to get his necessities. A couple of the residents recognized that he didn’t have a real home and took him in. He continues combat studies with spears and arrows, preferring those to blades unlike regular Dark Elves as the former (spears) are more inclined to redirect attacks rather than harm someone, arrows give him the ability to launch an attack in stealth should he ever have to. Jaggera is not very keen on physical battle, both because of his weakness of his left shoulder which is slower to react and heavier, as well as generally preferring to stay out of violence. He is usually rather laid back and cheerful on normal days, making most things into jokes and not taking things too seriously unless a lot of emotional trauma is involved. Like his darker brothers, Jaggera has a lot of love for jewelry that accent his features and is a sucker for almost anything sold with gemstones, bronze, or silver in coloration which leaves him short for money often times. He has an interest in magic but does not have the resources to pursue any learning opportunities about it. Because he was raised primarily by wood elves, he tends to take part in their cultural preferences and learn from them. Despite his little jewelry hoarding problem, he prefers his actual clothing to be more functional than fashionable and easy to move in as he loves wandering about. The less saturated greens and browns are preferred, as he finds that many of the loud purples and pinks of the Dark Elf culture is a little too much for him. Personality Traits: To start off simply, Jaggera is very selfish. He will always think of himself first and buy things for his own interests which is a little strange to see in a Dark at first; on the other hand, he does love making friends and family happy and if that's something he -wants- then he’s sure as heck going to pursue it. He’s a little vain and self centered, but in most circumstances he can only reference himself from having been alone a lot. He’s tends to make jokes out of many topics and despite his understanding of their contents, this doesn’t make him a super great debater or arguer. When experiencing harsh emotional situations like death or someone leaving him, he becomes aloof and defensive, though despite many of his childish traits (he’s a little stunted), he still will try to take up the role of the ‘big brother’. He’s a paranoid and protective elf, tell you that much. Those he holds close are in for a rollercoaster ride of having a protective and stern older brother figure to lean on in more personal situations and a freaking two year old human in the rest of them. To top it all off, Jag is stupidly flirtatious with almost everyone outside of family that he meets. It's not genuine, but rather another kind of -joke-, as he likes to mess with people but becomes completely flustered if it's retaliated, as he’s not used to people playing along. To sum it up: Positive: Friendly, Adventurous, Humorous, Caring to those close, Playful, Intuitive, Patient Negative(ish): Paranoid, Moody, Becomes aloof when hurt, Selfish, lil Awkward, Dependant, Disorganized, Hesitant, Anxious Quirks: He still has a tendency to hiss or make noises in response rather than using words (all only four years in the forest lol), but this is clearing up as the years pass. If you startle him he will definitely jump as, despite his demeanor, he is usually a little on edge when outside. He also tends to make words up to describe something or use as -swear- words. If he sits still for more than half an hour at a time; his leg starts shaking excessively. Phobias/fears: He has a couple phobias and breaking points as a character, all of which are a bit childish. Phobia wise, he’s afraid of heights and drowning and thus tends to stay away from edges of high grounds or deep water. While its not a phobia, he is very off-put by the dark. Even in the woods he was never in complete darkness thanks to fire and moonlight, but pitch blackness will easily make him become antsy. While he’ll usually remain calmish (more like frozen) in situations confronting these, should they get ‘too close’ he’ll end up trying his hardest to get out of the situation. Situations that involve lots of people and having to walk through crowds also make him anxious. Likes: Jewels, thoughtful gifts, intricate designs, most people (unlikely to harbor hatred of anyone), Potion bottles or jars (or bottles with unique shapes in general, he collects them??), happy people, giant animals that think they're small dogs, flirting with people just to see how they’ll react, making people groan with puns, bronze or silver jewelry and good fabric Dislikes: Being bossed around, unnecessary rudeness, hot days, being ignored, being disrespected, the colors red, purple, and lime green (lime green irritates him for some reason), people who can’t laugh at themselves, pears Ambitions: Long term; he wants to learn magic and alchemy, but he isn't in a rush Strengths/Talents: He’s pretty decent at puns…. He’s skilled mostly at building traps, caring for animals, and hunting. In regards to social situations he’s pretty good at reading body language and making small observations. He’s also pretty good at putting his hair up in the //one style// it's always in, having been taught by the old human woman. It's a bit of a complex do that looks ridiculous when taken apart but he takes to it. Weaknesses/Inabilities: Reading; though he did a lot of it as a child before he got lost, he’s still at a pretty low level. His left shoulder is weaker than his right and doesn’t take kindly to a whole bunch of strain or work. He usually takes a while to process orders or questions, as if translating the language in his head despite speaking Common his whole life- so he’s a bit slow to respond. He’s a bit of a drag in certain social situations. It doesn’t have anything to do with his humour, but rather that he won’t contribute much if there's an intelligent conversation or debate. Even if he’s fully educated on the subject (which is rare, he's usually always a bit ignorant on current events) he’s likely to withhold opinions and comments. He has some difficulty with change initially, he needs to be informed of planned changes well ahead of when they occur so he can plan how he’ll adapt. Otherwise, he just feels very rushed and oblivious. Appearance: Jaggera is a 5”11’ Dark Elf with slightly darker than average skin and long black hair, the back being tied into a braid and the front coming up into a mohawk (sounds weird, looks better.) He has gold eyes due to some Wood Elf blood and several scars from his childhood. His primary one looks like it was severe (which the injury was) but was actually the result of him getting a little too rough with sword training as a child. The scar on his face cuts into his bottom and top lip and nicks his upper eye and eyebrow. A couple of small areas on his lips are missing as a result of the wound. He has an ugly cloudy looking scar on his upper left shoulder caused by a cut that got very infected when he was living in the forest, the bacteria was eating at his flesh and spread out farther than the original injury. He has several smaller scars obtained just from running into animals or environmental injuries, but those aren’t so obvious. His clothes change and he usually goes for clothing that's intended to be functional but probably adds so many items that he’s not as free as he wants to believe. As an adult (or at least with this skin), he wears a green sleeveless robe-like garment with two ‘petals’ on either side that reach down to his knees. The shirt buttons up using bronze colored toggles and has vine-like appendages that flow down and hook up in the back. He wears two gloved gauntlets for show, the one on his right arm having an attached chain-based decoration/armor feature. He wears dark grey leggings as well as brown and green leather boots.
