Character’s name: Balian Character’s sex: Male Character’s race: Human (Heartlander) Character’s age: 18 Biography (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add server lore, and events that happened to your character so that they don’t contradict history.): Balian was raised by his father, Hugh, who was a notable blacksmith in Al'Wakrah, and his mother, Mélisende. Hugh made a steady wage for his work, enough to keep his small family fed well. With his extra coins, Hugh sent Balian to his long time friend, a wise, old scribe named Guy, to teach his son basic scholastic topics from a young age. Along with the basic writing, reading, and arithmetic, Guy introduced Balian to other areas of study such as economics, navigation, and even the science of warfare. In addition, Balian spent countless hours of his childhood around his father's forge. He took a keen interest in both his academic pursuits as well as his father's profession, and for the first 12 years of his life, Balian often battled between which he enjoyed more. His family was finding success as well. Hugh's business was expanding rapidly as new customers sought after his work. He made enough money to hire an assistant. He was a ragged and ***** looking man by the name of Adnan. Balian would often hear Adnan exit his quarters late at night and mumble with different men in the streets, but this did not concern the young boy. Balian was ripe with potential for a boy so young. Fate seemed to be playing in favor of Balian until a single tragic day changed his life forever. His life long mentor and friend, Guy, was found dead in his chambers by Balian himself as he arrived for his lessons. Stricken with grief, Balian rushed home to inform his parents of the news. Instead, he found his father's forge ablaze with a group of armed men and orcs pounding at his front door. At their feet lay Adnan with his throat slit. Bailian screamed for them to stop, but a crowd had formed to watch the scene, and Balians frail calls were drowned out. The men burst through the door and Balian heard his mother scream. He rushed forward out of the crowd, leaping Adnan's corpse and rushing inside. Only it was too late. The group had seized his mother and father. Again, Balian yelled for the brutes to stop, but they seemed to busy pillaging his house. Suddenly a group of city guards rushed through the door, pushing Balian aside. As the guards and the bandits began to fight, Balian ran. The last he heard of his parents was a sharp and deathly squeal from his mother as he turned down an alley, away from the madness. Balian later returned to the scene to find nothing. All he had known was gone. He suspect that Adnan's nighttime business was responsible for the raid. For the next three months, Balian spent his time begging on the streets of Al'Wakrah. Just to his luck, he was picked up by a group of traveling actors led by a tall man called The Many Masks. He was given food, company, and shelter. Working as a serving boy at first, The Many Masks saw him perfect for a role in one of the performances. As bright as he was, Balian picked up acting very quickly, as well as playing a multitude of instruments and singing. The next five years he spent traveling and preforming with the company of actors. Being in front of an audience often, Balian kept himself in shape. Balian grew into a handsome, dashing, and courageous young man during his time as an actor. Although quite enthusiastic, his mind his often plagued with a deep sadness from the events in his childhood, though he does his best to repress those emotions. Eventually, the company was forced to disband from lack of proper funds. Balian at 18 was forced to strike out on his own, unsure of what he could become.
