Out-Of-Character Information
What’s your Minecraft account name?:
ThePyro56.
How old are you?:
Fourteen (will be fifteen in a few months).
Are you aware the server is PG-13 (You won’t be denied for being under 13):
Yes, I have read so beforehand.
Have you read and agreed to the rules?:
Yes, I agree whole-heartedly!
What’s the rule you agree with the most?:
"Hostile and Toxic behavior, directed towards anyone or on any medium, will not be tolerated." It seems like an obvious pick, but I do really love the addition of "toxic". Aggression isn't the only thing that can make a person or their actions bad.
Are there any rule(s) that confuse
you or don’t make sense? (If so, we can help clear it up!):
This isn't necessary, but the "Your characters cannot interact with each other" bit throws me off a little. I'm sure if this rule was explained to me I'd be fine with it!
How did you find out about Lord of the Craft?:
I was unhappy with another server, so I decided to go hunt down ones like it and give them a try. The atmosphere of this server is wonderful, so I thought I'd give this particular one a shot!
Link(s) to past Whitelist Applications (If applicable):
Not applicable, as this is my first.
Definitions
What is roleplaying?:
It's sort of the child of writing and acting. You write your character's actions, thoughts, and words,
but you do it all in real-time and with another person/other people, much like acting. Though if you want a more technical definition, role-playing is… Well, the act of playing a role. Acting like the character you have in mind. For example, you might think RPGs have an immersive feel to them. If so, then that's what the creators of that game want: Immersion!
Putting yourself in your character's shoes is what role-play is all about!
What is metagaming?:
Metagaming is the act of taking what's being said OOC (out of character) and applying it to your IC (in character) actions.
Let's say a guy named Jake is role-playing with a guy named Avery.
Avery mentions OOC that his character's weak spot is in a very specific part of her back. Just after that,
Jake's character hits Avery's right in that spot! IC, it would be very illogical for Jake's character to know exactly where to hit, and even
Jake wouldn't have made his character perform the action if Avery hadn't said anything OOC.
Because of this, Jake is guilty of meta-gaming.
What is power-emoting (powergaming)?:
Power-gaming is the act of forcing an action onto the person you're role-playing with, and/or making your character incredibly overpowered. For example, Jake writes: "*My character kicks your character in the shin, knocking her into the ceiling! She is now unconscious. (( No miss, block, or dodge! ))*". Avery, the guy who's character was "kicked into the ceiling", is no longer interested OOC because of the huge imbalance.
Jake is guilty of power-gaming, and he has lost a potential role-play partner.
In-Character Information
Character’s name: Ylorajnar
Character’s sex: Ylorajnar's sex is male.
Character’s race: Dwarven (specifically a Forest Dwarf).
Character’s age: Thirty-four.
Biography:
Childhood and Adolescence
Ylorajnar was born into the Treebeard clan on the 26th of The Grand Harvest, 1530. His upbringing, while extravagant due to the clan he was raised in, was nothing special. He would soon grow into his helpful and caring nature, as many other young dwarves did… But unlike some of the others, he grew curiouser and curiouser as well.
Young Adulthood
Ylorajnar dedicated most of his later youth to the extended research of various and, admittedly, randomized subjects. From legends of Orcish warlords to the thorough history of The Church of Canon, Ylorajnar lived for knowledge. He would read and re-read an endless number of books, always soaking up every bit of information from them.
Present Day
Ylorajnar seeked to further his mind's reach, but the Treebeard clan was a place for banter and harvest; research and discovery seemed out of the question. Because of this, he would soon leave to search for better resources. Ylorajnar is still curious as ever, but much happier with where he's at now. He even considers himself a traveler.
Personality Traits
•Patient•
Ylorajnar is willing to wait for and work with anyone, so long as he knows that they're trying as well. Depending on who he's interacting with, he may pursue friendships just a bit more aggressively.
•Loyal•
It's very easy to ask Ylorajnar for help once you've befriended him. He cares deeply for those who've built up relationships with him, so he'll always be at your side... You may have to look down a bit, but he'll definitely be there.
•Arrogant•
Ylorajnar is bound to frequently put himself up on a pedestal. He has more pride for his people rather than himself, but he's still always ready to showcase his haughtiness at a moment's notice.
•Skeptical•
It's awfully hard to convince Ylorajnar to believe in anything if he hasn't seen it written in a book. As he would always say since two seconds ago, "evidence before admittance".
Ambitions
Ylorajnar would like to be a scholar one day. If he can't achieve that goal, then he would at the very least like to be on the same level as one. Besides that, Ylorajnar has always wanted a house deep in the forest. A place where he could read in solitude (and maybe smoke a little) is all he's ever really, truly wanted.
Strengths/Talents
Ylorajnar is a born socialite, comedian, and woodworker. He also has a wonderful way with words, often sounding much more educated than you would expect. One of his less significant talents include the ability to carve little figures out of wood.
Weaknesses/Inabilities
Ylorajnar isn't very good at sneaking around, as he's been used to being fairly loud being for most of his life. Another weakness would be that he's not the best at handling weaponry, and because of this it's safe to say he's not amazing at defending himself during combat. Personality-wise, Ylorajnar's natural stubbornness can get in the way of making (or making up with) friends. He also has a tendency to blame other people for things he might have caused. Lastly, he has a terrible habit of lying to people, even those he trusts and loves.
Appearance
Ylorajnar stands at 4'7" and weighs about 86 pounds. His hair color is a very dark brown that may look black depending on how the light hits him. His hairstyle is often a mess of chunky, uncontrollable curls that seem to catch every twig and leaf in sight. He also has a soft, short beard that's well-kept in comparison to the hair on his head. His skin is a rich, bark-ish color that compliments his chocolate eyes perfectly. He wears an ornate green coat over an old beige tunic. On his waist is a small belt with a few pouches and pockets attached to it. These often house tiny items, such as carving tools or mina. He also wears plain black trousers and light brown boots that stop right below his knees.
