  1. But how shall I bake my berry pie?

The sting is part of the experience!

Or let's remove pointed dripstone. Someone might trip and hurt themselves.

Or swords. I hear those can be quite dangerous.

Someone at Microsoft probably spent millions of dollars designing and play-testing those berry bushes. Let's appreciate them and adjust how we play instead of changing or removing them.

the random ooc/ irp messages saying how cute my musin is or how much people love musin. It puts a smile on my face.

This is a great point. It's a nice self esteem boost to have Bigguns always calling you cute. Will it become patronizing over time? We shall see. But for now, I welcome the praise!

Are you exhausted by your ordinary, slow-moving, everyday life? Looking for a new hobby and an exciting way to spend your time and money? Do you have a need for speed? Welcome to the Babblebrook Railmeister's Club!

We're a motley crew of minecart enthusiasts, drawn together by our love of the rails and the rush of high-speed minecart racing.

What started as an efficient way for Halflings to move grain to the coast, was quickly co-opted by thrill-seeking Musin youth who took to riding the empty grain carts just "to see how fast they could go". This dangerous pastime was later formalized into the Babblebrook Railmeister’s Club. But we're more than just a club; we're a family, bonded by our shared love of minecarts and the freedom of the rails.

As a member of the Babblebrook Railmeister's Club, enjoy these exciting amenities:

    • Customize and decorate your own minecart to reflect your unique personality and style. Add souped up wheels and imported goose-grease. Experiment in our minecart garage and clubhouse.
    • Participate in high-speed races and challenges on the area’s meticulously crafted minecart tracks.
    • Explore the stunning landscapes and hidden gems around Babblebrook and Dunwen from the comfort of your individual minecart.
    • Travel on group outings for a chance to ride some of the best minecart tracks (industrial and otherwise) in Aevos.

The Babblebrook Railmeister's Club is seeking brave and adventurous souls from all races to join our minecart enthusiast club.  Whether you're a seasoned rail veteran or a newcomer looking for your first big thrill, there's a place for you among the Railmeisters!

All aboard for the ride of a lifetime!

  4. I’m a pretty new player returning to LOTC and have been having fun playing my Musin; mostly around Babblebrook Village near Dunwen. Though, I have met quite a few of you at the Cloud Temple too. My character is called “Knave” and he runs the local scrapyard and recycling center in Babblebrook. He is my only character and I am committed to playing him as my only persona. I’ll give you a few of my thoughts about being a Musin so far.

Stuff I like about playing Musin:

    • Super positive players: Really a great group of players! I think wanting to play a cute little mouse-person must self-select for really nice people. I have yet to meet a rude Musin. Well maybe me sometimes. Damn.
    • Non-violent solutions: Musin are non-violent by nature, so it is interesting to have to find different ways to solve problems and disputes. Hitting each other with swords when we disagree is just not the Musin way. It’s refreshing!

Stuff I have disliked about playing a Musin:

    • CA restriction: Not many Musin around, probably at least in part to the barrier to entry. Having to do a CA app to play a Musin is annoying. We have less “power” than most if not all other races. Why should it be restricted? People abusing their weakness?
    • Lesser Soul: I don’t like being told I have a “lesser soul”. It’s just small and efficient like me. I don’t mind the restrictions that come from it. I just don’t like the terminology and don’t think we would use the term ourselves. It sounds like colonizer language.
    • Random OOC discrimination: Never quite understood this one. I like Mickey Mouse so I must be some kind of degenerate? Weird behavior, but pretty rare and easy to ignore.

    Things I would change:

    • We should stop saying “Mouse-Men”. What about the ladies? Others? It’s not very inclusive and people might think we only want “men” involved. Mousekind? Mousepeople? Mousefolk?
    • Dump the CA for Musin. IMO it’s not needed. Let us police our players like the other races do. Between us and staff I am sure we can handle any problem players/characters.
    • I would like to see Musin culture grow and change organically with our players over time. I would like to see us embracing parts of other cultures we experience and inexpertly trying to graft them onto current Musin beliefs. Celebrating holidays that we don’t understand (and screw up) for example.
    • I would like to see Musin characters pushing into roles as great craftspeople and innovators of the world. I think the naivety of our people should be fading with time. We are smart and have nimble little fingers.

Musin themes I like and want to see:

    • Junk and Packrats
    • Craftsmouseship
    • Railcart Racing Culture
    • Nature Shamanism
    • Hallucinogenic Drug-Based Religious Rituals
    • Science Mice!
    • Misappropriating Others’ Beliefs

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read this. I have really been enjoying my time on LOTC. I bought gold VIP and am just about to come up on my 30 day voting milestone. If it sounds like fun, come play mice with us!

I come to you today with a most delicious proposition – an opportunity to partake in a grand culinary adventure unlike any other. The Musin of Babblebrook are embarking on a quest to bake the most colossal berry pie the world has ever seen!

Imagine, a pie so vast it could feed an entire kingdom! Picture it brimming with the juiciest, most succulent berries known to man and mouse alike. Each morsel a symphony of flavor, each bite a culinary journey. It will be a pie fit for kings and commoners alike!

But we Musin cannot accomplish this feat alone. We will require an abundance of berries – so many berries – to bring our dream pie to fruition.

Will you heed the call? Will you join us in making history? Bring forth your finest berries and deliver them to Babblebrook Village near Dunwen. Let us band together and create a pie for the ages – a pie that will be whispered about in taverns and town squares for generations to come!

When you next visit Babblebrook Village, view the future site of the great pie (currently only a vast empty pie pan).

(Anyone traveling near Babblebrook Village would smell a salty, savory smell rising from vents in the deep underground. Following one's nose would eventually lead to a colorful flyer pasted near the entrance of the underground.)

"Welcome to Mush-Burger Palace! We are a new Musin-owned business in Babblebrook Village. We make food for the masses to fill the hungry bellies of our growing Musin community deep inside Babblebrook Village."

"We serve our famous “Mush-Burger”, a 100% fungus-based meat alternative patty served with all the fixings.  We have our favorite mush-soup hot and ready 24 hours a day. All of our products are mush-based and contain no cruelty-causing meats, cheeses or sauces."

"We stand proudly by our “Wee Eat Free” policy. Simply stand next to our measuring tape to prove your wee-ness and enjoy your next meal for free!"

"We are now hiring for our Winter Internship Program. You will learn all the ins and outs of the fast-paced fast-food business. By the end of the Program, you will be ready to go out and start your own Mush-Burger franchise."

    Thanks for reading!

    Spoiler

This is my first toe dipped into running a business on LOTC. My character doesn’t quite understand the whole "profit" thing, so we will see how this goes. Thanks for going easy on a newbie.

  7. A new mousemin in town thinks to himself, "My people! I have to figure out where this "Babblebrook" is and make a proper journey. I will need supplies; drink and song! I must find some friends along the way or it may be a long and lonesome road.

    And a gift.

I can't come to a party without a respectable gift!

    Height 50cm to 77cm
    Max recorded age: 78

Musin are the rat-folk that nobody wanted. Too small and weak to be very effective in combat, but very fast and dexterous. They are clever but naive. They fled a life of slavery and not very good bakery-goods to escape from Ratiki island and all their diseased rat brothers. After fleeing they met a “giant” (just a larger sized man) and learned many important things from him, including cleanliness. He stayed for 50 years in their village and without him wouldn’t be what they became today. They used his stories and tales to build themselves a “civilization” even if it was only a copy made out of trash.

Hey! I wanted to make a small recommendation for this. It is always good to add more personal details about them like height and fur colors they can come in

Thank you! Will do!  Musin are super short and come in the colors that mice normally come. They have tails and those cute backwards legs from mpm. They are humanoid mice and I love them already! I was reading through the history last night, but fell asleep (no fault of the history).

Knave will be dark colored with a bit of grey and brown streaks (kind of tabbyish-pattern if he was a cat. Im not sure terminology for mice coats. Maybe a notch out of one ear. He will be short even for a Musin but with a big spirit. I am not really sure about "classes" or jobs yet, of it you even have those here. I'll probably just play him for a while and see where I end up.

I hope its okay to add the things I have learned here in the comments rather than edit the original.

  10. Oh I didn't realize this was a "lore test" until looking at some other applications. I didn't mean to sound flippant above, I thought you wanted my personal "lore" for my character.

Musin are little mice-people who like a simple life and don't like conflict. They are very clean, but are also scavengers and it sounds like they build their houses out of scavenged junk and don't like to waste things. They are trying to copy the giant races and pretend to be a bit like them and their fantasy stories of old. They live long lives because they are so clean. Musin are polite to civilized people.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Musin are little mice-people who like a simple life and don't like conflict. They are very clean, but are also scavengers and it sounds like they build their houses out of scavenged junk and don't like to waste things. I am a simple Musin wanting to lead a simple life of farmer's markets and cake decorating contests. I want to be a mouse-person and live inside a mossy tree-stump. That's all I have ever wanted.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?
