MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

    -------------------------------------------

    We are born by the Dark;

    Made Men by the Dark;

    Undone by the Dark;

All shall fear the Old Dark.

     -------------------------------------------

The ceremonial hilt of a bastard sword shattered long ago rests in your grasp. Within the bored out haft sits a Corrupted Lightstone coated in a thin layer of menhir. The item seems to emit faint whispers of an unknowable language if listened to very carefully. By itself, this hilt would be little more than a hefty trinket, but in the hands of a Soulweaver, a mortal blessed with conjoinment, its true use would be made clear.

Should an amputated [Tier 3 or higher] Mystic Blade channel their ectoplasm into this relic, they would find themselves able to cast an altered version of Spiriting into the hilt and through the lightstone, returning what was lost to the shattered remnant of a weapon: Its quillons and blade, bringing with them distant, agonized screams of suffering and rage.

While equipped, the relic may also allow the Mystic to cast a tangible, tethering version of Saturation from their spectral limb, taking the form of the wielder’s casting aesthetic. Over the course of [3] emotes, an amputated Mystic may channel their ectoplasm through their spectral limb, sending out a tether [4] meters in front of them, moving at the speed of a baseball.

If this tether were to strike, its victim would find a tightness in their chest, their body overtaken by an excruciating pain, feeling as if their very soul was being torn apart from inside their chest. Provided this tether was not broken or purposefully demanifested for [4] consecutive emotes, its victim would find a chunk of their soul essence agonizingly being torn from their spirit, causing immediate unconsciousness.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

As Relics are usually not a part of a Mystic Blade’s arsenal, instead most commonly used as a tool of Conjurers, the wielding Blade’s body would not be as expectant or tuned to the new-found amplification of their ectoplasm. Lower tier mystics would find themselves unable to fully take advantage of this relic, necessitating the user be at minimum [T3]. Along with this, the Mystic must have undergone the Rite of Amputation. When equipped, Ember’s Wrath would amplify the Blade’s ectoplasm, causing a shift in the casting of two of their spells, Saturation and Spiriting.

    _______________________________________________

    Ember’s Wrath

This bladeless ferrum hilt of a bastard sword has been bored out in the middle, an ectoplasmicly hindered corrupted lightstone, coated in menhir set into its haft, constant faint mutterings and whispers of an unknowable tongue emanating from it. Subjected to a ritual of Relic Creation (See Mysticism: Relic Creation), this hindered and menhir-reinforced object now acts as a conduit for the wielder’s ectoplasm. Unlike typical Mystic Relics however, this hilt is not meant to be used by a Mystic Conjurer, instead fashioned for use by a Mystic Blade.

The wielding [Tier 3 or higher] Amputated Mystic Blade may channel their ectoplasm into this relic over the course of [2] emotes, allowing them to cast an altered version of Spiriting, the amplification of the Mystic’s ectoplasm by way of the relic no longer necessitating the need to expend a liturgy (See Mysticism: Spiriting). The hilt’s once shattered blade and quillons may be reformed via Ebretian Mists, the creation bearing the strength and weight of ferrum, and the ability to make physical contact with phantoms, regardless of tangibility.

As soon as the ethereal steel begins to manifest, those mutterings shift to agonized, furious shrieks of pain, rage, and suffering, those screams following every movement and strike of the weapon. (ref: https://youtu.be/-xQbO8dTWXk?t=33)

Due to the added corrupted lightstone, Xannic Mists seem to be rebuffed by this Relic’s summon, the conjured blade able to withstand no more than [2] non-consecutive emotes of contact with them before necessitating a re-cast.

Along with this, aurum’s effect against a typical Spiriting cast seems to have been lessened, no longer able to demanifest this creation upon first contact. This being said, were the relic or conjured to make contact with Aurum for a total [4] non-consecutive emotes, it would be demanifested, the spell needing to be recast.

Furthermore, any strike capable of shattering ferrum shall do the same to the channeled blade, necessitating a re-cast. Thanium, Auric Oil and Null Arcana also prove to be an effective counter to this relic’s conjurations, keeping it from functioning for each materials’ typical effectiveness. If the relic is removed from the Mystic’s grip, the spell would immediately demanifest, meaning that the relic requires constant channeling for the alternate Spiriting to be usable. While the relic on the Mystic’s person, no other form of Spiriting may be cast.

Should any non-conjoined descendant or any Mystic below [T3] attempt to use this, they would find nothing would happen, the relic acting as little more than what it was at face value: the hilt of a broken sword.

    Ember’s Torrent [T3] - Combat

While equipped, the relic of Ember’s Wrath allows a wielding [T3] or above Mystic Blade to cast a short-ranged version of Saturation, provided they have gone through the Rite of Amputation. Over the course of [3] emotes and at the cost of [1] liturgy, the mystic may channel their ectoplasm into their spectral limb, releasing an ethereal tether taking the form of the Mystic’s casting aesthetic. This tether would be capable of reaching [4] meters out from the caster, moving at the speed of a professionally pitched baseball.

Should this tether strike the form of any creature or descendant, it would attach itself between them and the Mystic’s spectral limb for [4] turns provided they were not interrupted, the tether only able to be severed by either by:

    -Moving out of range

    - Interruption of the Caster

-Direct contact of the tether with an aurum blade, holy magic, auric oil, or null arcana.

Those who are struck and tethered with this spell would immediately feel an agonizing pain coursing throughout their whole body from the chest, as if the tether was ripping their soul into pieces within them. If the tether is broken or demanifested before the [4]th emote, a lingering aching will remain for [1] emote, though the pain is unable to be debilitating.

If the spell is not severed or interrupted by the time the [4] emotes of tethering are complete, a soul fragment may be harvested from the victim, its after-effects mirroring typical Saturation, i.e. Unconsciousness and memory loss of the events, a scar at the tether’s point of contact, nightmares, with the scar only able to be healed by deific magic.

This spell may only be cast for a total of [2] times per combat scenario, and only [3] times in combat per OOC day. While equipped, the relic will prevent casting of any other form of Saturation.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    Ember’s Wrath:

    • The wielder MUST have gone through the Rite of Amputation.
    • The wielder MUST be at least [T3] in Mystcism.
    • This item follows all relevant Relic Redlines.
    • The conjure follows all rules of Spiriting except:
    •  Xannic Mists may only dispel the blade after [2] non-consecutive emotes of contact.
    • Aurum may only dispel the blade after [4] non-consecutive emotes of contact with the conjured blade.
    • This form of Spiriting requires constant connection to its caster. Once the relic is out of the Mystic’s grasp, the spell is demanifested, needing to be recast.
    • Thanium, Auric Oil and Null Arcana may dispel the blade.
    • The sound effects, cannot speak in any discernible or known language. They cannot mimic the voices of other players; they are incoherent babble.
    • While jarring and brash, the screams do not provide any advantage in combat, being purely aesthetic. They may not disrupt or deafen anyone.
    • While the relic is on the Mystic's person, they may NOT cast any other form of Spiriting.

    Ember’s Torrent:

    • The Caster MUST have gone through the Rite of Amputation.
    • The wielder MUST be at least [T3] in Mysticism.
    • Ember’s Torrent does not have the capacity to be lethal, only to cause great pain.
    • As with any connection based spell, if the caster is struck, thrown off balance, or generally interrupted, the spell will need to be rechanneled.
    • This spell is not effective beyond 4 blocks.
    • The tether moves no faster than a professionally pitched baseball (~90MPH/~144KPH).
    • The tether may remain connected to its victim for a maximum of [4] emotes.
    • Should the [4] emotes be allowed to run its full course, a soul fragment may be harvested, the after-effects mirroring a Mystic’s Saturation.
    • The lingering pain once the tether is broken cannot be debilitating.
    • The tether may be broken by force if the victim moves out of the range of [4] meters.
    • The tether may be broken immediately by force if it is struck with an aurum blade, holy magic, auric oil, or null arcana.
    • The spell will be ineffective if its victim wears anything thicker than half-an-inch.
    • Ember’s Torrent may only be used 2 times per combat encounter.
    • Ember’s Torrent may only be used 3 times in combat per OOC day.
    • While the relic is on the Mystic's person, they may NOT cast any other form of Saturation.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

At its core, this object simply adjusts the way the wielding Mystic Blade is able to cast Saturation and Spiriting. These adjustments are made possible by the creation of a relic, fashioned out of the hindered and menhir-reinforced hilt of a broken sword and a corrupted lightstone, hindered and coated in menhir, both anchored with a total of three geists (See Mysticism: Relics).  This ritual is/was performed by three [T4] amputated Mystics and a Wight.

While equipped, it serves the same purpose as a Conjurer’s relic, amplifying the bearer’s conjoined phantoms. Due to Relics not being required for Mystic Blades, their bodies are not attuned or expecting this amplification. In turn, this newfound bolstering allows the Blade to channel their Saturation spell into a more tangible, turbulent cast. Rather than the first strike of a Saturated weapon causing immediate rending of the victim's soul, the tether would seep into the victim's body, seeking to literally slowly rip their soul apart, granting a fragment. This added torturous aspect to their Saturation cast comes at the cost of a much longer channel time, as well as a limit to how often it may be cast before the Mystic exerts themselves, causing them to be unable to cast until the next OOC day.

The liturgy required to summon a Spirited object, in this case a blade and quillons, is rendered unnecessary because of the power/essence of the phantoms bound to the hilt and lightstone, at the cost of the Spirited Object being no longer able to remain manifest when outside of their grasp. Along with this, due to the Spiriting spell being channeled partially through a corrupted lightstone, the constitution of the cast is shifted slightly, allowing slightly more strength against Xannic Mists and Aurum, while still remaining vulnerable.

A Menhir Ring from the Rite of Amputation is also a requirement for this to work as it increases the Mystic’s Power, and [T3] or above is required as it is when the Blade has either nearly or completely mastered control of their phantoms.

A thin stone ring, affixed to the shoulder of an amputated arm. Along the stone’s edge, strange runes were etched.

The wearer of this Menhir Ring is granted the ability to cast an alternate version of a Mystic Blade’s Enervation spell. Over the course of [3] emotes, the wielder may channel their ectoplasm, unleashing a torrent of ethereal lightning from their spectral limb, the bolts extending out four meters. Moving at the speed of a baseball, should this spell strike the form of a descendant, a tether of lightning will form between the victim’s flesh and the caster’s spectral limb. This tether may last a total of [3] emotes, provided the caster remained uninterrupted, or the tether broken.

Once the tether has been made, an excruciating burning sensation would overtake the victim, searing throughout their body from the point of contact, feeling as if they were burning from the inside out. If/When the tether is broken or demanifested, the burning pain may linger to a lesser degree for [1] emote, though its effects would not be debilitating.  Should the caster choose, at the cost of [1] extra connection emote, these bolts may cause complete muscular seizure upon first contact, requiring its victim to take [1] emote to recuperate. Should this longer version of the spell be allowed to run its course, a soul fragment may be harvested from the victim, causing memory loss of the event and knocking them unconscious.

This cast may only be used [2] times per combat encounter, and only used in combat [3] times per OOC day.

    Electric Enervation [T2] - Combat

Kallig’s Circlet allows the wielding Mystic to cast an alternate version of a Mystic Blade’s Enervation, provided they have gone through the Rite of Amputation. Over the course of [3] emotes, the mystic may channel their ectoplasm into their spectral limb, sending out a torrent of ethereal lightning at the cost of [1] liturgy. These bolts would be capable of reaching four meters out from the caster, moving at the speed of a professionally pitched baseball.

Should this lightning strike the bare or lightly covered (covered with a half-an-inch or less of material) flesh of any creature or descendant, the bolts would create a tether between them and the spectral limb for [3] turns provided they were not interrupted, the tether only able to be severed by either by:

    -Moving out of range

-Direct contact of the tether with an aurum blade, holy magic auric oil, Thanium, or null arcana.

Those who are struck and tethered with this lightning would immediately feel an excruciating burning pain throughout their whole body from the point of contact, as if the current was burning them from the inside out. Along with this, they would find their joints and lesser appendages (fingers, toes, etc.) beginning to painfully ache, limiting their movement to a light jog. Once the tether is broken, either by force or due to its turn completing, the pain lingers to a lesser degree for [1] emote, though it does nothing debilitating.

Should the caster choose, they may gleam for [1] additional emote (for a total of [4]), granting the spell the ability to make every muscle in its victim’s body seize, stunning them for [1] single emote. As an added effect, should this version of the spell not be severed or interrupted by the time the [3] emotes of tethering are complete, a soul fragment may be harvested from the victim, rendering them unconscious. Upon awakening, the victim would have severe memory loss of the act and events leading up to it, and general nightmares and a feeling of hauntedness. This malady would only be able to be healed by deific magics. (See Mysticism: Saturation)

This spell may only be cast for a total of [2] times per combat scenario, and only [3] times in combat per OOC day.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    General Redlines

       - Requires the wielder to have gone through the Rite of Amputation.

       - Kallig’s Circlet will permanently bar the wielder from casting any other forms of Enervation while it is equipped.

       - This spell does not have the capacity to be lethal.

       - Compared to typical Menhir Rings, Kallig’s Circlet may be vulnerable to physical or magical damage, only able to be repaired by a Wight/Barrowlord

       -  The soul-fragment reaping effects mirror that of a Mystic’s basic Saturation spell.

       -  Should the Ring itself be directly struck with an Aurum Blade, Auric Oil, Null Arcana, or Thanium, the limb will demanifest, the ring needing to be mended by a Wight. The spell/limb may not be used until it is fixed.

       -  Should the Spectral Limb itself be directly struck with an Aurum Blade, Auric Oil, Null Arcana, or Thanium, the limb will demanifest, unable to be regenerated for 12 OOC Hours. The spell/limb may not be used until this time has passed.

    Mechanical Redlines

       - This spell is not effective beyond 4 blocks.

       - The lightning moves no faster than a professionally pitched baseball (~90MPH/~144KPH).

       - The aches and lethargy caused by this spell are equivalent to that of a Mystic Blade’s T2 Enervation, preventing those tethered with it from sprinting.

       - The lightning tether may remain connected to its victim for a maximum of [3] emotes.

       - Should the [4] emote version be allowed to run its full course of [3] emotes, a soul fragment may be harvested, it’s effects mirroring that of Mysticism’s Saturation.

       - The lingering pain once the tether is broken cannot be debilitating

       - The tether may be broken by force if the victim moves out of range

       - The tether may be broken by force if it is struck with an aurum blade, holy magic, auric oil, Thanium, or null arcana.

       - The burning sensation is purely mental, mirroring a Mystic’s Flamegeist Hex, though at halved duration. (From [6] emotes to [3]).

       - The spell must come into contact with flesh, either bare or lightly covered.

       - The spell will be ineffective if its victim wears anything thicker than half-an-inch.

       - The stunning effect of the [4] emote version may only be effective for [1] single emote.

       - Electric Enervation may only be used 2 times per combat encounter.

       - Electric Enervation may only be used 3 times in combat per OOC day.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

Granted by an unholy ritual of Blood Magic and Mysticism performed by a Wight and Four Tier 5 Blood Mages, this cursed Menhir Ring grants Kallig the ability to cast ethereal lightning from the fingertips of his spectral limb. Each part of the spell is granted by specific qualities of the magics at play, those being:

Blood Magic Lightning Runes, giving the cast a physical form and muscular constriction/numbing,

A flamegeist hex, granting that lightning the ability to cause a searing, fiery pain, albeit only mentally,

The blessing and hindering of a Wight, granting the Enervation spell the ranged quality of a Wight’s Glare (See Mysticism: Enervation),

Kallig’s base ability to cast a T4 Enervation spell.

While all of these elements may work together, their combination resulted in some instability, changing the efficacy of each quality. The speed of the lightning is slower than that of a normal cast, moving only at the speed of a baseball, the flamegeist’s duration is halved. The Wight’s Glare effect is no longer as subtle as eye-contact, now being able to be seen and physically dodged, and the efficacy of Kallig’s Enervation is now capped at tier 2, preventing him from casting any other form of Enervation. Lastly, the menhir ring is no longer immune to damage, its form able to be harmed, preventing the limb, and by extension the cast, to be used.

  12. A harsh laugh escaped the maw of the Royal Inquisitor as he finished skimming the missive. "I wonder if the good lady Kortrevich will attempt to use blood-ties to save herself from punishment," the Lord mused. "I do hope Klara makes her grovel."

  13. A cold sneer cracked across the Bayac's face as he read the missive within his room. "Illness?" mused he, folding the paper neatly and setting it upon his desk. "Perhaps she is just hungry. . ."  He turned for the door of his home then, that cruel smirk still plastered upon his face. He chuckled, uttering a malefic, "We shall see each other soon."

With that, the door slammed shut as he strode out into the night.

  14. Silence.

That was all that filled the Inquisitor's ears now as he sat in some dark corner of the Adrian chapel. Blood still drenched his gloves, dripping from the thumbs that he had jammed into the eye sockets of some Haenser. It was a brief solace, the sound of those pathetic screams of that man as Alikos knelt over him, the cracking of bones beneath each furious strike, the squelching of those blue eyes, turned red and bloodied.

His one regret of that murder, no, that execution was that he was pulled back before the bottle of Alchemist's Flame in his grasp was able to be poured down the Northman's throat. The hiss of the Adunian's emerald blade as it manifested above the Haeseni's neck, the thud of his head hitting the bloodied wooden stage...

All of it was now quiet. Completely, and utterly silent. Eventually though, as it must always be, that silence was broken.

"I am sorry, little one," rasped he, his voice ringing dully from beneath his helmet. That steel façade, that metal wall, blocking himself from the world. He did not think he would ever take it off again. "I have failed you... I will not allow this to happen again."

His voice now hardened. Turned resolute. He knew now what he must do. And so he stood, gaze falling upon the crucifix nailed to the opposing wall. From beneath his visor, a grimace formed upon his lips. Without another thought, he strode out from the chapel, the door slamming shut behind him.
