Greetings, citizens of Haense! My name is Kaida Valtonen-Novikov, and I am honored to be able to announce my candidacy for the position of Aldermen in the upcoming Duma elections. As a dedicated advocate for justice, fairness, and progress, I firmly believe that I am the right choice to represent your interests and work toward a better future for all as an alderman of the people’s Duma. Throughout my time, I have been a staunch defender of life and more recently- against injustices by those in any position of power, even in ranks as low as initiates of the BSK, as some of my other running mates have mentioned. As lovely as this city is and unwavering my faith in the inherent goodness of it, I must admit I would not be running for this position if I did not see room for growth and change, or true need for the people to have a louder voice. I have witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by the commoners like myself, my kin and those simply attempting to visit in our beloved city of Haense. I have experienced such an atrocity myself and felt its sting like a slap in the face. As an immigrant myself who found security within the walls and culture of Haense shortly after the Mori’s assaults began, I empathize through shared experiences with the voices of the marginalized and dismissed by those in even the lowest of authority. I and my kin have had the privilege to meet many wonderful, truly noble examples of the nobility of Hanese thus far, such as but not limited to, the many honorable members of houses Weiss, Colborn, Pelear, Kortevitch, Amador and Gudunov to a name a few. However- still it is undeniable that a bitter few, should they ever arise to hold power or title can taint the pride and image of Haense in the eyes of citizens and onlookers alike with misdeeds. It is time for change and an era of further and equal accountability in true accordance to our creed as a people, and I am committed to being the catalyst for such. I know many will think I am too brash or uncouth with these words, but I would not be running for this position if I merely intended to cower or keep my head down. This, people of Haense, is how fiercely and unabashedly I will advocate for you. The honorable that are true in heart and pure in action are the soul and backbone of our great nation, many of which can be found in the rightful nobility of Haense, but I truly believe that justice should be just as unwavering and true, as all are equal in the eyes of God. Even from the moment I arrived in the city, I sought to enlist in the BSK to give back to the place that took me in and taught me a new, deeper meaning of the word, home. Home is not merely a place you’re willing to fight tooth and nail for to protect and grow. Home for me, as it is with my Novikov kin is in the hearts of the people of Hanese, the love and comradery we share regardless of class, and the culture it overflows with which fills our hearts with pride and willingness to serve. Haense, through the sacrifices of those who came before us and the grace of God, has become a beacon of strength, devotion, and rich culture. A culture so strong that it makes even those who come here later in life, feel a sense of purpose settle deep in their bones with desire to follow the examples of the honorable many who preceded us. It is all of our duty to defend their legacy and take this mantle as our own in what ways we can. Even if it’s as simple an act as a vote for the right candidates who can act cohesively and represent your interests in ernest as I and those I promote can and will. Promises: If elected as Alderman, I make the following promises to you, the people of Haense: Transparency and Accountability: I will operate with utmost transparency, keeping the citizens informed about the decisions made in the Duma and actively seeking input to better represent your interests. I will be accountable to you all, not only during the campaign but throughout my entire term. My votes in the Duma will always be in favor of prosperity, safety, truth and justice for all regardless of class. Public awareness campaigns: I will initiate public awareness campaigns to educate commoners about their rights, the laws, how to identify and report abuses, as well as make further available resources for seeking justice or assistance. Economic empowerment: I will strive to create a favorable environment for small businesses and local artisans, providing them with resources and support to thrive. I will encourage the growth of local markets and artisan crafts. One method I will use to accomplish this goal is by exploring options for alternate taxation options. One method being, allowing even a small portion of individual taxes to be paid with raw materials at a strict exchange rate in cases of financial need. This will allow citizens to have more coin in their own pockets and promote the flow of currency rather than having to strictly save their coin to maintain their roof. Helping small businesses and private citizens in this way will help us grow economically. No citizen should be deprived of a safe and comfortable home due to financial constraints, even in times when taxes must be raised. This ties hand in hand to further social welfare programs that assist the most vulnerable members of our society, including the elderly, orphans, and those facing financial hardships. I will strive to create a safety net that ensures no one is left unsheltered. Strengthening legal frameworks: I will work towards enhancing existing laws or introducing new legislation to specifically address the issue of unfair treatment to anyone. Be they noble, common, or a law abiding visitor of our lovely city, we hold a duty to their safety while on our lands. This may include laws that impose stricter penalties for misconduct and provide clearer avenues for reporting and prosecuting offenses. All are equal in the eyes of God and it is nothing more than right to reflect that truth in our legal system in ernest. From the Tahn Region, Irena was born to her mother and father whom were... very different in many regards. her father a merchant, and her mother a librarian. Her mother pressed her to get an education and learn how to speak to larger crowds and groups of people. Putting her in small mini plays that her family put on with her and her siblings. She learned the ways of a merchant from her father. Small white lies, and bargins. Falsities that would help them get by. Being the youngest of her siblings, she developed a bit more of a outgoing attitude towards life and those around her, as she was in constant competition with her siblings. Keeping up with them as they grew together. She grew strong mentally and physically. She is of a mesomorphic build and has a sense of style. She is a bit of a tomboy as she enjoyed playing a sport rather than a board game or reading. (Gender role classics why not) When she left home, she was 16 having ran away wanting to start her own life out from under her mothers thumb. She is an adventurous spirit and does have good intentions at heart.. Just sometimes a bad impression is left on people she becomes open with emotionally. Tending to be a bit distant from most in her true view, although she may seem extremely outgoing. She has her own demons she faces daily. (Those of which I will not list here. Cause rp with me and find out!~)She is rather skilled with a bow and throwing knives, due to her oldest brother Theoran teaching her from a young age. however, that relationship changed when Theoran was struck by lightning in a freak accident when she was 15. They were extremely close, and he was a bit of a Robin Hood himself. That aspect rubbing off on her personal views on life. She has been traveling ever since on her own. Trying to find her calling and purpose in life. Mabey someone to be with. She goes with the wind as a true free spirit. Irena hails from the Dominion of Malin, and has traveled to the Federation of Sutica (Ceru Region), and the Kingdom of Haense. (Another Tahn region.) Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?) Irena is an opportunist, and a survivalist. She is street-smart.. And if you don't watch out you can easily become entangled in a intricate web of lies spun by her silver tongue. She is persuasive and intelligent, however uses her ability to make and maintain lies, for good in general. A good business person of given the opportunity, she can strike a good deal. She is a lady, but is not afraid to get her hands dirty or speak her mind against what she believes is wrong. She however.. Does love children and tends to look out for the little guy in most situations. Having -zero- tolerance for bullying or shaming. She is a strong independent elf woman. (ooc sassy hair flip) Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) Something important. She wants to make a name for herself and stay away from the troubles that seem to plague her existence. Perhaps a merchant like her father, or perhaps a diplomat as for putting a good use for her way with words. Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?) She is a good talker. Fabricating lies by the seat of her pants that often convince. She has a very strong memory and has a way with words like no other. Irena is a very good climber and a fast thinker in terms of escape or scheming. She is very flexible overall and can contort her body in certain ways due to multiple double joints in various locations on her person. A decent fighter when push comes to shove. She is definitely not a daisy to be trampled upon. Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) Irena needs to work on her survival skills in the terms of wilderness. She is knowledgeable book wise, but it is entirely different to translate that into an action. She needs to work on her physical strength and patients at times. She can be a bit hardheaded and sassy, which often leads her into trouble. Although quite athletic and strong for a woman of her size, she is quite prone to be sick. Having a fairly low and weak immune system, she tends to avoid anyone that shows the slightest sign of sickness, to the point of blatantly avoiding them Irena is both a logos and ethos thinker, although depending on the situation her ethos will take over and cloud her judgement. She knows not when to give up in most circumstances and again.. this leads her into trouble often. Despite her good intentions and lack of ill will towards anyone. Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?) Irena is 5 foot 7 tall wood elf woman with red hair. And green eyes. (No scars visible. She wears a set of armor. Rather weak and light plate, and most is open loose material between the joints. Nothing to fancy, but helpful to say the least. Most if it is all material. some of the pieces, just thicker metal bands that would serve to block a couple blows with their slightly arched design on the shoulders. The arm pieces server as an armguard for her archery and minor protection on the outside of her arms. (Btw. I am currently having another skin made for this character with normal attire. I'm not going to have her walking around in armor constantly. No matter now minor the armor may be.
