If you were free to create a realm what would it be?

I would probably make some sort of half elf half human empire, specifically within the themes of human and elven culture intertwined. Lot's of half elves lot's of hatred but it'd be a safe haven for half-elves to adunians and all the other races that have mixed bloodlines.

I'd honestly just do it so I can say I was king once

    hell maybe one day

    Community really,

I actually retconned my race early into playing and was a human in Courland but I wanted to be more involved with magic rp and elf rp so swapped over though I’ve acc wanted to change to human or even halfling at some point

human rp communities just clashed sometimes with me that’s all

I'd like to add to this, when I was in human communities do note I was in communities with some individuals who:

Idiolised hate crimes, actively attacked LGBTQ+ communities, were 15 year olds dropping the n word every few minutes in teamspeak etc. It was not a good period for human communities (axios lmao) and I was actively against most of it, so decided to depart from there to instead chill with people in the Enchantry, necro communities etc.

Weird when the people who play edgy dark characters were nicer oocly than the cutesy humans who would splur hateful and aggressive comments in teamspeak lmao

Which CA would win in a fight? A Musin or a Lich?

Greatly depends on the rp and personality of both players

The musin could be overpowered by the liches' magic and either be left barely alive but drained, or raised as a servant

The lich could underestimate the mousefolk and in fact be taken by surprise and be defeated by the musin.

Grossly depends on what arc the two players want, maybe the lich wants the musin to win, let them have such an amazing arc of conquering an undead mighty opponent. Or perhaps the musin player accepts their fate, knowing they would have no real chance at winning, and would rather help further the lich's story, potentially returning as a servant in future.

(Though I place my bets on the musin)

  4. Hello all, I'm Morgan and I just turned 22

You probably know me as Acalmaehr, Fenneyr or something similar. I joined LotC when I was barely a teenager in the midst of puberty. Now? I'm about to get my Bachelor's in Psychology, going onto Psychodynamic Counselling (fingers crossed). As well as this I literally got engaged in Paris.

It's weird to think there were people here who knew me with a squeaky voice in teamspeak to now be here when I'm 22, with a beautiful fiancée and about to get a University degree.

I've come bloody far, genuinely have. I've been here since Axios, seen a lot of events, met a lot of people - good or bad, took several permanent bans, temporary bans and warnings and still I pester you all with my antics.

This is my AMA, ask me seriously anything (minus my address), if you want to know about lore, people, events in the past, groups etc I probably have knowledge of something :)

For those with questions about my absence; I've recently been doing work on my dissertation, as well as doing interviews for some work (got myself a lil part time job) so hopefully now I have more time for LotC, as well, life comes first.

    Ask Me Anything :)

I’m here to have a quick chat about homophobia in roleplay – and why, in my opinion, it should be banned. I want to be clear, before I start, that a lot of the fingerpointing towards people who want homophobia to be banned does not apply to me; I am not progressive, I do not come from a liberal, left-wing background; indeed my family itself is conservative – not religious, but conservative all the same. I want no comments denouncing me as a braindead, sensitive child of the modern world, neurons fried by TikTok and radical left-wing social media; I am no such person. I would instead like to offer a good faith argument as to why I think any sort of narrative benefit that homophobia roleplay could ever hope to offer is outweighed by, well, all the negatives it brings.

I am perfectly aware that those who roleplay homophobia are not necessarily homophobic. I am also aware that barely anyone nowadays roleplays things akin to what was going on in late Rozania, where Savoyard crusaders were literally crucifying gay characters. That sort of thing simply doesn’t happen anymore, and rightly so. I can’t even recall the last time beyond that that I’ve heard of such a thing, and even then they were viewed as extreme by most.

However, I don’t think it’s by any means a bad thing to ban things that should be banned but don’t happen; proactivity when it comes to matters of server legislation is important, because it wards off those who might get tempted. But let us ask; what is the case for keeping homophobia?

Well, for one thing, it sort of provides narrative. The recent incident of the Four Princes post, I think, is a good example of why I’ve said ‘sort of’. The post itself, I am told by many Church fleepers, was entirely driven by OOC; such was echoed by other, more senior members of the Church in their responses in different threads and Discords – that it was basically looked down upon by them because it was done OOCly. I must admit, it’s always funny to see the Church accuse others of acting out of character, but that’s beside the point.

Another often-quoted reason I see stated as to why homophobia should remain unbanned is simply that it represents adversity; a challenge for people to tackle IRP, or a way for people who have to deal with homophobia irl to deal with it here.

But let us be clear. Homophobia has not been eroded and does not happen less in roleplay because of things that have happened in roleplay – instead, it has become OOCly looked down to roleplay homophobia because of the shifting demographics of the server, and is therefore looked down upon in roleplay due to the problem we have with self-inserts. In reality, getting the Church to change its position on virtually anything is near-impossible because all of the decisions are made in private Discord chats. Roleplay plays no part on this, at least where the Church is concerned, and it should stop pretending that it does. Whatsmore, in relation to the overcoming real-world homophobia - Lord of the Craft is not your therapy site. It’s an extremely bad idea to come here looking to resolve some real-life conflict; seek professionals instead of trying to get over homophobia in the real world on a minecraft roleplay server.

I think it’s important to look at this through the parental lens, too. Would you let your thirteen year old son join the server and start pretending to be homophobic with a bunch of strangers? I think not (at least I hope not). Also, imagine joining the server as a pink tag, walking into a town and seeing a bunch of people screeching about sodomy (as an NL recently told me happened in their town). It’s a bad look for the server, and this brings me to another point; any reflection of a real-world prejudice on our server makes us look crass and unimaginative. We can come up with better methods of producing narrative conflict, can’t we?

To be fair, the only group with any real excuse for being homophobic is the high elves, because of their low fertility rates; homosexual individuals could be perceived  as negatively contributing to society. But even this is bogus because elves have like ten children a month and have massive families, so that clearly isn’t adhered to and therefore isn’t an excuse to justify homophobia roleplay.

A final point I’d like to make is that people tend to point to homophobia as an example of medieval realism; that’s utterly bogus. We have tanks, magical robots, and mech-limbs. Homosexuality is, to be frank, far more realistic in medieval terms than any of those things – if you wish to battle for realism, do so on the fronts that actually deserve attention.

My position is clear: we should flat-out ban all forms of real-world prejudice from the server. It’s basically an informal rule, where the only holdout is homophobia for some reason – we don’t permit real-world racism, but we permit homophobia. Whether or not the Church falls under that category is something I’m a little unsure on; personally I don’t like Church homophobia roleplay because it can only ever be extremely lazy or purposefully overly traditional, but that’s besides the point. I would encourage genuine thought and discussion on this; my understanding is that Llir is planning to hold a community meeting on the matter, and I hope that this can generate some genuine thought beforehand. If you disagree with me, if I’ve missed something out, if I’ve made a mistake, please do say so. have a good day chaps

Also, I'm aware that I held a different opinion a few weeks ago, but I've changed my mind since last posting the malaise quote, that does happen sometimes and people can listen to constructive debate

      Reveal hidden contents

    @wowjive got you

Honestly I think this should just be the talking point of the meeting Llir is having as nobody could put this any better.

Regardless of if LotC is an escapism or not for players, homophobia really is an unnecessary part of roleplay with no real positive. Elf x Human racism is far more productive and entertaining roleplay with productive outcomes (i.e. banished from Haelun'or for not being pure, so you go on a quest to show your purity, or become good enough known as an outsider race to be accepted by those inside), homophobia and other similar prejs don't have any sort of route, it's "ew you're gay get out" or "ew ur gay let's just ******* execute you" neither of which is productive or gives you anything in roleplay, other than exiled from a community.

tldr; Dislike elves and make them cut their ears again, whitewash orcs for being against the Horde and make humans do tests of faith that don't involve asking them if they want to 'sodomise a man'.

  6. Acalmaehr, a darkener reads the missive, nodding firmly "What a brilliant time to come back to Aevos." the elf would say, reminiscing over their twenty seven year holiday abroad, where they were lavishly enjoying an island, drinking pina coladas and mojitos, and watching mermaids.

  7. I actually kinda like these rules, 15 players is a good size for signatures bc there's bound to be a few people with 'oh sign this for me hehe' so to get 15 false signatures is gonna be hard, and even then players may have a good 9-13 size playerbase for new nations

I just wish one day y'all would also open up your nations some of you mfs are gated as hell

oh and hi I just had some nice big exams, got one more module left for the year and my dissertation to do so uni overall is going really well ty for asking

  8. "I believe it was at the arms Llir, which only makes it even more confusing. Perhaps darkspawn have grown his arms for him?" the elf spoke swirling some wine, reading the article with them and offering them a broom

"By the stars! What did I just read?" Raziel Amethil exclaimed, dropping a bottle of wine. The Celian elf just stared at the missive in utter confusion. "Also, how is he still able to write? Weren't his hands cut off?"

The brain rot of the LOTC community finds new ways to impress me every time. "YES!!! Let's find ways to make the server more boring so that I, the objectively main character of this pixel game, can romance rp with my 16-year-old elven waifu in peace!!!!!". Holy shit y'all are pathetic goddamn. If you really want warnings before a raid shows up, put actual players in watchtowers or outposts to act as scouts. Use actual players to patrol your lands and roads so that you have a better chance of spotting raids or bandit parties before they descend upon people. Ring your bells.

As kazoo said, THE ONLY people that want these kinds of systems are settlements and nations that are either too weak, have an ego bigger than Icarus, and cocky places that need ways to validate their "big and strong great power" rp while in reality, they aren't really a great power since they cant even deal with a bandit group of five people without a warning before hand LOL.

Then there's the fact that this warning will just kill conflict roleplay. People will log off after the notice has been given or close to when the raiders are allowed to roll up and raid. If not then it will just lead to banditry/raiding being a viable form of roleplay anymore since nations and settlements will make sure to rally before, maybe even bringing in other nations not related to the raid just so they can tip the scale of power and all get clicks.

On top of this announcing any read prior is pointless as it means as soon as you alert them, the gates are going to be locked shut

Which means ANYONE who ss's over to come check the place out will instantly be ganked

Rather than helping the nations inside, it'll kill off any visitors or new players wanting to go there ever again

However! What was your favorite roleplay on this new map?

Favourite type of roleplay has always been CRP, I'm a fan of it especially when the risks are high and the adrenaline is pumping it's like reading a book but you can't just skip through to the end, you have to sit there and read through it all

Favourite piece of roleplay, well that probably was with the gravelords, as toxic as y'all old necros are the language and imagery used is utterly brilliant

hey :D I dont know you but woah! 6 years, crazy!

what has been your favorite experience overall on LOTC?

    <3

Hard to say really, I've been in so many massive events and seen and done so much, I was on top of the golem during the September Prince events, where I felt so bloody powerful with my friends, I also was involved in shooting a laser against it with other wizards though neither of those really topple my favourite period which was early-mid Atlas with my friends in Thania. It was there where I really bonded and joked around, where I could mess around and every time I came on and hopped in discord I was laughing and smiling, it was where we just made shitposts and jokes with each other and it was always exciting.

The first time LotC really made me smile was when I was in Courland, just recently joined as a lil new player with an eyepatch bc a lich took out my eye about a week prior. I had reached like T3 of water evo (self taught with the most inactive teacher and the jankiest lore) and there was an event

good old Xarkly, we were beneath Courland in the sewers and me, Vege and plenty others were being eaten by a slime. I desperately trying not to be eaten fired a really shit and weak ice shard directly towards the heart of a slime (a black lil orb inside of it's form) and managed to kill it.

I got a cool sword (lost it now unfortunately) that for some reason was always cold, and I became a member of Courland's army. That made me feel amazing.

It's also why I would always say Xarkly is my favourite ET no matter what, he was the one that made me feel great playing LotC and deserves his praise.

  13. Hello All.

I joined LotC back in like 2016, I was in the midst of my GCSEs, a teenager the midst of Puberty I probably sounded like I smashed my mic with how many voicecracks I made whilst screaming 'ave Courland at 11pm at night till my mum came in and told me off for it.

Now, now I'm engaged, I have a pet hamster and I'm almost done in university, doing part time work and having to shave every few days to get rid of the facial hair that 6 years ago would have been mythical to see.

Feel free to ask me things, except for my IP address, the university I attend, my national insurance number or my phone number

You can eliminate confusion by using this format [Connect + Charge + Cast] to represent what is occurring over the course of 3 emotes.

Otherwise, the buffs look pretty good and the clarifications are always nice. The two emote water shield will likely beat out other similar shield types that are considered staples in their magics.

Deflect from Air evo is comparable as a two emote spell, but it cannot be sustained.

Earthen Wall had been considered the top of the magic shield game. I think a sustained shield for ranged attacks will be more effective at 2 emotes regardless of lack of solidity.

An observation if nothing else. Though I think there is something to be said about the things each individual magic should be the best at to keep them niche and unique, and making sure this isn’t going to make Water evo objectively better at offense and defense.

Very true about that, imo water evo is also quite a good defensive magic with lots of spells to do with movement of your opponent and defence, I just believe It'll be fair as well for them to also have a similar defensive spell as a result, seeing how all the other voidal magics have access to some form of quick-fire defence.
