Although the 'incurable disease' is an interesting idea, I'd like to have a better grasp of what exactly it might be. It could for instance be hemophilia which is fine (it's the one where you can't produce enough platelets for cuts n stuff), I'm mostly worried you'll come into LotC with some magical powers or curse that gives you magic you should not have access to!
