What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Kani

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Kani is the utilization of resonance through careful, calculated breaths. Resonance, the force being manipulated, is a phenomenon that occurs within natural mana. This resonance creates a ripple effect that can displace other energies, resulting in physical effects and interactions with other mana-based forces. By manipulating the frequencies of resonance, one can control physical forces in objects, such as inertia and friction for example. Liquids are the most receptive to resonance due to their fluidity, while large solids are the least receptive. An object's reception to resonance lies on a scale, with liquids, powders, and fabrics on the more receptive end, and solid materials like steel on the less receptive end, and this can be utilized in a variety of ways to benefit the oscillit. Some examples of this would be raising weapons from sand to assist one in combat, or catching and throwing spells back at mages to give them a taste of their own poison.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

The two sections of kani can be classified into two things. Resonance as a whole (including passive + aggressive resonance), as well as continuous resonance.

Resonance, as mentioned, can be controlled by the Oscillit across a wide range of frequencies, with passive and aggressive being the two main ranges. Passive resonance burns no mana and produces no aura, while aggressive resonance burns mana and produces a chaotic aura that can take on various shapes and colors. The aura is always respective in intensity to the frequency it stems from and comes from the location where the resonance is occurring.

Some examples of these ranges vary from Orbit, which can be used alongside passive resonance. It essentially anchors objects (while still hindering the oscillit) to the space around them. These objects can either remain stationary, or they can idly float about the user (hence the name). A few other uses of this “spell” would be the ability to shield oneself from rain, or to fling the water out of one’s clothing. As with all of these abilities, they’re quite freeform.

Another ability, albeit one that generally leans into aggressive resonance is Tangible Energy. This, as long as it is used with aggressive resonance (passive can effect mana too, but to little success), it allows the Oscillit to interact with mana physically. This can be as simple as reaching out to touch a ghost, or as elaborate as catching a spell, and then throwing it back at someone.

    Continuous Resonance

Continuous Resonance is a feat that is associated with Kani. It is often utilized by people who study the void, maintaining a constant, passive state of Resonance in their daily life to resist the weakening effects of the void, bringing them back to their usual strength. Of course, this does come with a downside, casting times increased by two emotes across the board. Naturally, considering it is a feat tied into kani, it requires a separate application to allow one to use it.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Orbit

A lone Oyashiman was seen standing off to the side of her table, breaths slowly lowering into a calmed, passive manner. She would gather that mortar and pestle, various tools, as well as a few loose containers with symbols in them. All she would do is sit there, clearly barely able to hold onto the sheer amount of items in her arms, them oddly clinking about as she struggled. In no manner would she be able to move them by herself.

As those breaths continued… She would continue to further stabilize them, before at once, she would cast them off to the side. They trickled outwards, anchoring in the spots about her form, beginning to slowly twist in circles about her. The sight was akin to planets revolving about a star, then sticking to her side as long as those calculated inhales… and exhales were dutifully maintained. At that, she would pace off elsewhere, no issues arising from those suspended trinkets.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Tangible Energy

“Now… ready yourself like this, hai?” That woman murmured out as she crouched down slightly, either of her palms outstretched before her, opening slightly. It was as if she was preparing to catch something, that student standing at the other end of the arena mocking her own stance. “Very good, very good, continue to breathe… And don’t step away.” She then would proceed to nod towards that mage at the other end of the field. That student of hers continued to maintain that stature, mists enveloping their palms as they merely waited.

“Go.” She announced to that caster, a ball of flames suddenly launched at immense speeds from that mage’s reservoir of mana. It would soar closer and closer to that student, them having to side-step and shift their hands in preparation to catch it. It met their palms with a firm THUD, them stumbling back slightly. Oddly enough, the flames didn’t seem to burn them in the slightest, that ball of flames merely toiling there, waiting for something to be done with it.

“Very good.” The teacher announced with a firm nod.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If they powergamed during teaching, I'd seek to correct this mistake so it doesn't happen again in the future. If it happened after teaching, however, and it was due to my own mistake I would also seek to fix it. If it was out of malice, and not my own fault due to a lack of teaching, then I would contact staff ASAP.

There would eventually be a meeting of man-made-things upon the Eastfleet roadside, off near the towering tree Tanilla which oversees the remains of a city once bound skyward. It was a strange kind of contact, for the strange walking construction of the Synod stood at a kind of contrast to the far smaller Sorvian Newt, where upon its smallness was cowled a heavy black robe that obscured any actual Sorvian distinction beneath it. Their interaction was fittingly machinelike; a simple exchange of the missive, where while in the tiny clay man's hands a reply was written upon the backside with a piece of coal, indicating the fallen city of Du Loc as a fitting meeting place.

Moving on immediately to a conclusion, the Newt then pulled a torn strip of red cloth from their cloak that was dyed with the coppery-stenched blood of beasts, of which the both of them paid no mind to for lack of mortal senses that would curse a common courier. To the automata, this was tied, and then turning away they both seperated on the road and would not see eachother again. Should the machine courier return to its masters, these two clues would act as their only response - a beckoning to a graveyard.

    [!]

    "So be it."

The voice of that spiteful woman rang outwards, scanning over that proposed meeting-place with a slow nod. That charcoal-stained piece of parchment was slowly, yet very meticulously folded over one another until it was bound into a tight square. She had no weapons to grab, nor anything to bring along, setting off towards that fallen city with deliberation in her steps.

    [!]

Reaping across the snow were a series of oddly-constructed, Automata couriers. They carried numerous copies of the same missive to differing portions of the continent.

To the fabled Herald of Strife; The Ashkeeper,

The time for stagnancy dwindles. With war on the horizon, and the continent’s soon collapse, I see it fit to claim your long-abandoned position as Herald for myself. Of course, you are welcome to challenge such if you wish to come out of hiding, but as I expect, if no response is given, I will grant myself the means to claim your forgotten throne.

I eagerly await your presence within the True Synod, Ashkeeper. If any time is fit to act, now would be that time.

    Signed,

    Abendevek

    @Swgrclan

    Spoiler

OOC: This  missive would find itself issued to all members of the True Synod, and any Shepherds loosely, or directly associated with such. If you are meant to receive it, you know who you are. To know of its existence otherwise would be considered metagaming.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Mysticism

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Mysticism is a mortal, dark magic that leans on the aesthetic of spirits, occult, and the dead. It requires one to endure the painful process of Conjoinment to be “connected” to this magic, in which your own soul is ripped from your body, combined with another from the Ebrietaes, and then put back into your body. This additional soul within your own is what allows Mystics to channel their arts, considering they are partially “undead” in some crude sense of the word. Most of the actual magic itself revolves around combat with either of the classes provided, stealing soul fragments from other players, and various rites that allow one to cleanse spirits, contact the dead, bind spirits to phylacteries, etc.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are two inherent classes to Mysticism besides the general Liturgies and Sacraments one can perform, these being the “Blade” and the “Conjurer”.

    Blade

Mystics who establish a more “tangible” connection with the geist in their soul will give more knightley, or melee-oriented mystics. They are capable of feats of strength that rival even the strongest members of their own race, their outward appearance haggard and gaunt, regardless of their strength. This class more orients around physical spells and hand to hand combat, as described earlier, these spells detailed below.

    • Spiriting: This spell allows a Mystic to imbue their weapon with ectoplasm, giving them the ability to make contact with spirits as if they were striking them with a normal blade. You can also, if amputated, manifest a spectral weapon with the same properties listed before.
    • Enervation: This spell allows Mystics to imbue their ectoplasm into their victim, causing their bodies to grow incredibly weak and pained. They would also notice themselves being significantly hindered, even being forced to roll for greater actions at the highest tier.
    • Diminish: This spell (my personal favorite smiles) allows a Mystic to veil themselves in ectoplasm, effectively concealing themself to mortal sight. Only those with true sight can see through this veil.
    • Expulsion: This spell, considered by myself to be the “strongest” spell, allows a Mystic to manifest one of their geists before them, before sending them out alongside a major action with a weapon at up to ten meters in front of them.

    Conjurers

Mystics who establish a more ephemeral connection with their geist make “Conjurers”. They sacrifice their strength in exchange for more magical ability, making them able to manipulate their phantoms to higher abilities than blades. They too would be pallid and gaunt, almost looking akin to a corpse.

    • Manipulation: This allows a conjurer to effectively latch onto a victim with a tendril of ectoplasm, draining the other of a liturgy to empower themselves. This can also be utilized to bolster another, if one wished.
    • Shrouding: This spell allows a conjurer to bring forth a bubble around them that basically mirrors the Ebrietaen wastes. Any of those within the bubble will have their sounds muffled, unable to see inside, or outside of it. Outsiders would merely see a wall of mist.
    • Undertow: This allows the Conjurer to effectively bring forth a thick pool of ectoplasm about them, more akin to a sludge in consistency. The point, of course, is to hinder movements for outsiders, the utility of it increasing with each tier.
    • Tyking: This allows a Conjurer to bring forth two geists that can actively intervene in combat. Some examples of this would be them taking the form of the Mystic at hand as a distraction, possessing objects in a fight, or using minor telekinesis.

Beyond the spells a Mystic has, there are also a number of rituals and sacraments one can do, or take part in. Some examples of these are the Rite of Harvest, which is essentially a means to hide the theft of a soul fragment under the guise of a fortune-telling, or something of that sort. Another example is the Rite of Scrubbing, in which a Mystic can effectively banish a spirit from a specific area, creating a protective bubble. These are just a few of many, of course.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Diminish

Starting off, that Oyashiman woman would nestle herself in a darkened corner of an alleyway. Her skin would grow near-translucent, the pale woman effectively growing more and more haggard in appearance, trails of spectral, ivory mists beginning to expel slowly from her right palm. They would slowly ebb upwards, slowly twisting to and fro about her entire form, creating a mystical shimmering effect.

Time passed as more and more of those mists began to funnel from her palm, her breathing becoming more and more muffled as time went on. Pieces of her body began to occasionally vanish from mortal sight, but beyond that, she was still entirely visible regardless of the effect that engulfed her.

Lastly, that veil would have finally stitched itself together, that ivory fog dispelling in its entirety. Under the cover of darkness, that Oyashiman quite evidently was now invisible, but not intangible. She would be clouded to all but the dead, moving further down the alleyway with her new guise, the only thing seen being the occasional footstep in the gravel below.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Deadbreath

Hai, alright… Begin by gleaming, hai?” That woman uttered out, wasting no time beginning that lesson! She would, as always, begin to grow quite haggard… Her student slowly doing the same, but not to that same effect as her. They would both grow significantly pale, the Farfolk in comparison almost looking elderly as that ectoplasm was conjured forth, a spectral ivory mist coming from her palm. Her student, on the other hand, had a darker-tinted, almost black hue to their own ectoplasm.

Some time passed before she uttered once more. “Now- You are to bring it to your mouth… and breathe in, hai? Allow it to sit within your lungs for a moment, before then exhaling.” She would then do just that as an example, lofting those pallid digits before her maw, which promptly opened. Those thinned trails of white fog would have been imbibed, chest rising slightly as the ectoplasm stirred within her lungs. Her student, on the other hand, did the exact same… even if they were struggling quite a bit.

Lastly, that woman would have expelled a breath from the depths of her lungs, her student soon following afterwards. Pouring from both of their maws would appear to be a thick cloud of mist that surrounded either of them, all but the dead, or those with true sight being effectively blinded if they were inside it. To onlookers, it would look like an unnatural ball of miasma, the occasional sight of two figures moving about within seen as well.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If they powergamed during teaching, I'd seek to correct this mistake so it doesn't happen again in the future.
