What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Animatii

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Animatii is a section of advanced alchemy that is entirely dedicated to the “machine”. Truly, the only alchemical portion of this feat is the lifeblood that is crafted to be inserted into these works of machinery, while most of the FA inherently focuses on forging and crafting sentient creatures or inventions. These can vary, of course, as one could make something as simple as a folding wrench, something more intricate like a prosthetic limb or organ, or even going as far as to make a fully conscious creature such as a small metal rabbit or a full person. It’s not limited here, however, because if one desired it to be so, they could transfer their soul into the body of a machine to achieve a form of immortality. This is, of course, uncommon however.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Animatii as a whole encompasses generally the same “concept” or craft, but there are a few subsections that are worth going into, such as lifeblood, automatons and machine spirits. There are also a few smaller things worth mentioning such as inventions, as well as prosthetics, etc.

Starting off, the main focus of Animatii is the craft of automatons, and these can vary vastly in sizes. These can be as small as a spider that stitches wounds, a dog that can be utilized to attack others, or even a fully-bodied person (CA only). All of these creatures, even if they are made from metal, are all considered to be sentient, carrying their own personality traits and quirks that generally have little, if any limits at all, it generally following the anatomy of the creature it’s trying to mimic (be it human, animal, or otherwise). The freedom of these creations is generally up to the maker, especially on smaller animatii, as long as redlines are carefully followed. Each of these creatures of course don’t just function off a metal shell and some lifeblood, as they require one to make a gear heart as the basis of these creatures. The gear heart is an incredibly complex piece of machinery crafted from springs, pulleys, cogs, and a precious/valuable gem. It’s designed to mock a real human heart, funneling lifeblood, an alchemical brew that simulates blood/oil, between the body and various components. The last intricate thing that can go into an automaton are the various modules that create artificial senses, such as the visual module which are glass orbs filled with lifeblood, or the intelligence module which is a series of interlocking vessels in the shape of a wyrd-organ, amongst others. Combined, all of these make varying sizes of automatons with a wide range of intelligence, quirks, and capabilities.

Next, a Tinkerer can instead of making a machine, utilize parts of machine-crafting to fix parts of the body such via crafting prosthetics. These can vary from small orbs filled with lifeblood to replace an eye, a contracting organ to replace a lung, or even a fully-functional limb. Limbs are generally the most common of these prosthetics, requiring one to craft a skeleton from metal, a gear-heart to funnel the lifeblood (and blood) through the prosthetic, and plating to protect it from wear and tear. These are to be installed into the body and connected to the user’s blood supply, making it quite dangerous considering the possibility of bleeding out if these contraptions were to be damaged, as it lacks all clotting unless one was to find a way to manually staunch the blood-flow. Lastly, each one of these prosthetics, while useful, are never better, or even equal to an organic organ or limb. Each has its own drawbacks, such as eyes being more sensitive to light, etc.

The last important thing to mention besides the craft of small inventions (small folding wrenches, machine presses, etc), which don’t require nearly as much complexity is the machine spirit. The machine spirit is very much alike a human-sized automaton, but instead of being faux-life, it is crafted to inhabit the living soul of a descendant. It is similar to kloning in a lot of aspects, requiring one to build a fully functional automaton, and then layer the innards of the gear-heart with mage’s gold. Then, approximately 100 mL of blood to an aetheric lifeblood solution which will then be promptly inserted into the heart. This allows the user to essentially skip their own afterlife, causing their soul to find a new home upon death within this metallic body. If this husk is to die, however, it will permanently kill the player-character unless they create more bodies to then hop into.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Lifeblood

Pacing into the midst of her lab, that Oyashiman woman would approach that table before opening various cabinets suspended above that workstation. She would withdraw various jars filled with herbs, symbols… As well as a mortar and pestle. Taking a set of pre-arranged symbols, she would light that brewing stand to her left, the burners flaring upwards alongside a surge of heat. A decently-sized glass vial filled with water was then set upon that flame, those orange hues licking up the side of the tincture. A small stick of charcoal was then grabbed, and set upon a sheet of parchment, her folding that paper over that stick, before soon after taking a hammer and crushing it into a fine powder. That substance was then sprinkled into the water, finishing the base of that brew.

Continuing, the Oyashiman would take a funnel and place it atop the tincture that was slowly heating up, grasping at that variety of symbols before her, each neatly labeled in individual containers. Each was mundane in nature, her first using forceps to grab and drop three connection symbols, then three life, followed by two growth. A stirring rod was used to mix them, before she would place one strength, two balance and three endurance into the tincture. Some more mixes were issued with that stick, before finally, two grace and three order were dropped within. She would allow it to reach a rolling boil before taking it off the heat. That container was then corked, and set off to the side to cool.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Gear Heart

A pair walked into the depths of that same lab, that being the familiar Oyashiman from earlier, and her [INSERT NAME] student. She would begin by withdrawing a small contraption, which to her was a gear heart, but to that student it was entirely foreign. She would rest it on the table, curtly lofting a pallid palm, before then gesturing to that piece of machinery. “I wish for you to examine that. Take it apart, carefully, and reassemble it in its entirety. Hai?” She waited, before nodding a few times. That student did the same.

That student would begin to disassemble that heart! Springs were detached, and cogs were removed. Eventually, that entire contraption was completely taken apart, its various pieces laid upon the table neatly. The woman then chimed up to her student. “Good! Now… The reason as to why this is important, is because this is the machine’s heart. It’s designed to pump its blood through its body, just like our own. Crafting this is essential.” She affirmed rather sternly, before gesturing across towards that metallic organ once more. “Now, assemble it.” Her tone was still firm.

They continued once more, her student slowly, piece by piece assembling that heart. The cogs and spring were placed within that machine, vessels replaced with aims to funnel lifeblood. Lastly, that precious gem was inserted, her dipping her head in approval. “Good, now make as many of these as you can. Until your fingers grow numb, hai? Make big ones, small ones… As many as you can craft.” With that, she spun on her heel, and retreated from the room.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If they powergamed during teaching, I'd seek to correct this mistake so it doesn't happen again in the future. If it happened after teaching, however, and it was due to my own mistake I would also seek to fix it. If it was out of malice, and not my own fault due to a lack of teaching, then I would contact staff ASAP.

  2. Leaning against a corner, seated atop a small stool in the corner of her lab was a pale woman that was now stirred from that unintended slumber. That awakening was more of a jolt, than anything else, her breaths having picked up as her eyes shot open. That Oyashiman noticed that she was drenched in a cold sweat, connecting that panic to that distant vision... A glance was soon sent to her palm as she gathered her bearings, that foreign sense of foreboding welling up within her chest.

"Gomen, I- I know... I saw it too."

She spoke, seemingly, to no one...

Its a Feat for nephilim and MA for heralds - I gotta finish up some formatting and footnotes- thats my bad for lack of clarification

Honestly that was my first thought when re reading it over -  I solo authored this and didn't really reach out for feedback - The blood magic sect is to refinforce justification and perhaps I could write out the blood magic part and simply create an addition to dragonsflame itself - But im glad Im recieving feedback now, because these are all changes I am more than willing to apply - Also as for the power of the spells I simply put them to highest point that I thought realistic as its natural for ST to nerf during the review processes.

Yeah by no means am I trying to shit on it just I feel like I know blood magic pretty well and... absolutely none of this makes sense in terms of, you know, blood magic. If you wanted to create something tied into blood magic + azdrazi I think that could be cool but it needs to be refined more, maybe by coordinating with someone who knows the ins and outs of the lore. I think it'd work best as a standalone thing.

  4. Considering how strong these spells are I can't tell if this is serious or not, but assuming it is... considering that blood magic has a reputation for being a non-combative magic I'm not sure how good/beneficial it'd be to change that idea and give it combative uses. Especially considering just how strong these spells are.

Also just knowing blood magic, reading through the background I'm not sure as to why this is connected to blood magic either as it doesn't really make much looking at the abilities etc. The reason I say this is because genus (pretty much the fuel of bm) isn't cited anywhere in the lore nor does it even seem to be used to any degree, and it just feels like BM was thrown in last second to justify this piece existing. When, in my opinion, if tweaked properly could work just fine as its own addition to Nephilim / Azdrazi as a whole.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Core Alchemy

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Alchemy, is less of a magic (as mentioned by the question), and more a gained understanding or knowledge of mundane energy, as well as the matter that forms the material realm. It utilizes these studies to interpret the properties of various flora and material reagents discovered throughout the land, the alchemist becoming more in-tune with the material alphabet as their craft progresses. Using these properties, one can then, with predetermined processes, craft potions of varying strengths. Some examples of these conconctions being ones meant to explode upon impact, others as simple as oils to ease the nerves.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

The three main sections of alchemy that are most important to become familiar with first are the signs and symbols, processes and reagents, and the core potions. All of these are the basic fundamentals of the feat, that of which carry on into the large number of subsections alchemy entails. Some of these include black alchemy (one I am familiar with), infernal alchemy, and a lot that I cannot list off the top of my head.

Beginning with symbols and signs, all of which are apart of the 'material alphabet'. Through an alchemist's journey, they will slowly decipher this 'alphabet', utilizing their knowledge to be able to extract various symbols from natural, and materialistic reagents. Only once they've mastered the feat will they then be able to use every symbol to its fullest capacity.

Next, the processes and reagents detail the manner in which one extracts signs from reagents, these being mainly herbs. Though this can also refer to ones that do not originate from nature, some examples being redstone, black bile, so on. The process in which one extracts the symbols of these reagents depends on its 'sign', an alchemist able to pull various 'counts' of these symbols from the reagent. (Explained away by the x1, x2, x3 etc. in the description of the herbs, next to the listed symbol.)

Finally, once someone has a basic understanding of the symbols and signs, as well as the processes in which to extract these symbols, they can move on to learning how to craft the 'Core Potions'. Using a combination of the previous sections, as well as following a predetermined process, most of which will be taught by a teacher, they can then combine these symbols, alongside bases to craft potions. These potions, vast in quantity have various uses, some of which are combative, while others are more flavorful. (A lot require ST signage, to note.)

There are also a lot of unnamed subsections that I briefly mentioned, though these take separate teachings to learn, and are not included in the basic fundamentals of alchemy.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Fire Extraction

Pacing into the midst of the lab, the Alchemist would find themself at their counter, withdrawing a varying quantity of tools. The first was a mortar and a pestle, as well as a dried Drake's Tail to accompany it, that herb having been previously stored within a book to allow it to fully be drained of any moisture it had previously held. At once, they would shove that dehydrated plant into the base of the mortar, beginning to grind it into a fine dust with the pestle. Over time, that Drake's Tail had been reduced to nothing more than a reddened dust, of which resembled sawdust... Loosely.

Moving on, they would strike a match on the side of their table! At once, they would hover it over that dust-like substance, the entire form of it catching alight with mundane flames. Over the course of a minute, and a plentiful amount of billowing smoke, that substance was reduced to pure ash. At once, they would equip a magnifying glass, proceeding to pick out various symbols from the ash. They would have deposited those separated symbols into distinct, individual vials. Each of which contained the Fire sign associated with the symbol, it being prepared for a potion in the future. Otherwise, they would shove those vials into a cabinet, not before labeling them accordingly.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Earth Extraction

Trailing into their lab with swift footing, the person had one student accompanying them. The student made sure to close the door after the two, joining their teacher at the table within the middle of the room, the two having just come from an herb-gathering expenditure. "Now! We will go over it once, and I will accompany you just to be sure you get it right... This is a very important process, one of which I only briefly spoke to you about earlier." They ushered the pupil over, taking the collection of Goblin's Ivy they held within their grasp, setting it upon the table next to a rather large mortar and pestle. "We are to pull the symbols from this plant, though it may not always be this easy... Sometimes, you will have to decipher exactly what symbols comprise a reagent before you go trying to extract it, or anything of that sort." They wavered their palm about dismissively.

"First thing's first! We are to cut it down, to fit it into the mortar." As a demonstration, they would take a small knife that was sitting on the table, it dirtied from prior use. They would then swiftly chop up the Ivy, condensing it, and repeating the process until it was contained within a small, neat pile. They would lift it up, before pouring it into the mortar. "Next, we crush it down into a fine powder... Or, as fine as we can get it." Then, they began the grinding process, grasping the pestle and placing it within the mortar, twisting their wrist about to crush the flora down. After a bit of time, it would have been reduced to a husk of its former self. "Now, we add salt, equal to the amount within the mortar..." They'd pinch some salt out of the prepared dish, sprinkling some in, continuing to do such until there was a rather equal amount within, it being a perfect half and half ratio.

"Finally, we grind this down, and we'll have our prepared symbols after sieving it." To finish off the process, they'd quickly grind the salt and the ivy away, mixing the two together... This would create a much more dried powder, opposite to the consistency of the plant before. "Hand me the sieve." They commanded, the student sliding it over. They then would suspend it over the bowl before themself, setting the pestle down, and hovering the mortar above it. Slowly, they'd pour it on top, shaking the sieve about, allowing it to sift through. After only another moment's time, they were finally done, the symbols separated from the rest of the... useless bits. "We'll go over extracting other types another time, for I am rather exhausted... You are free to leave." They would set the other instruments off to the side, allowing the student to walk off with the aforementioned symbols.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If my student was to powergame during teaching, which would arguably be the best outcome as I could then correct it, I would be sure to communicated to them. I would explain the issue with the emotes they gave, for whatever reason, and then have them repeat the process over again to be certain that it won't happen again.

If the student was to powergame after teaching, I would still do the same, aiming to speak to them and correct the issues that they provided. Depending on the severity of the powergaming, and if it was blatant disregard of the lore that was not relating to a failure on my part, I would notify staff (ST) immediately.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Kloning is a process in which a master Alchemist with knowledge of the art (with an accepted Tawkin FA) is able to craft themselves a new body for either themselves, or another when they die. When a "Klone" (be it one already, or merely becoming one upon death) perishes, they will automatically inhabit their next, healthiest klone, their soul placing itself within the next body, any attributes unique to one's soul carrying over into this next form (Be it magics, other knowledge, or any effects placed upon one's form that transcends just their body).

The process for making a Klone is far from simple, or cheap, requiring a large sum of materials and caution to essentially craft one another chance at living. First, a pot made from clay must be attained, and then filled with distilled water, symbols added to create a brew in which the pygmy will rest within, which is where the fetus crafted from Bogodan's Clay will be introduced to, and left to grow over (typically, unless swiftness is added) 6 weeks. The aforementioned pygmy must be crafted from prepared Bogodan's Clay, humors (Blood, Phlegm, Black/Yellow Bile) from those they wish to make the Klone for injected within, and then placed within the pot. As long as sanitation is prioritized, and these (simplified for the sake of the post) complicated processes are followed, an Alchemist can allow their creation to prosper and grant themselves or another a chance to cheat death.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

Klone's inherently don't start with aesthetic choices, as they are simply continuations of oneself at its base. There are however other things you can do with it, for if you are to take the humors from another character and add it to the solution that the Pygmy grows within, your character can inhabit the race and rough appearances of that character (The soul will stay the same, and everything such as racial curses and other soul-based afflictions will not be changed). Unwilling changes can also occur, for if swiftness is to be added to the growth process, or if contaminants get involved, mutations are likely to occur in the Klone's development. These can vary from things such as minor physical alterations, such as colors, etc, or genetic diseases and various mental afflictions, of which range in severity based on how high the roll is.
