Dacien known as "Dax" to his childhood friends was born in Rytsburg (1631) to Antony, a merchant that peddled petty goods such as wheat and fish. His mother Margaret, died upon giving birth to Dacien and his father was never the same afterwards. His father took heavily to the influence of alcohol, alienating the few friends that he had. He regularly abused Dacien, blaming him for the death of his beloved wife. Throughout his years, Dacien blamed himself for the death of his mother, and from the constant whirlwind of abuse from his father, he began to regress into depression. His father, losing a lot of business from his new found hobby of drinking, became much more violent and abusive. Dacien, one night, had fled the house that he was born inside of; he couldn't bear the guilt of losing his mother, and his father descending into madness. He had fled toward the local guard post, at the age of seventeen. He wanted to be a part of the military, and get as far away from his family as possible.
He was soon drafted into the local militia, and after getting his training done and his equipment secured, he had learned of his father's fate. He had gotten into a brawl in a bar, and was stabbed to death by a group of patrons he managed to rile up especially badly. The house, and all the goods of his father, now belonged to Dacien. He no longer wanted to leave the town he grew up in, and took to his father's home immediately. Being a part of the Guard, he slept within the barracks, rarely using the home. He eventually sold the home and all of his father's belongings, wanting to distance himself from such a gloomy past. The only things he kept was his mother's necklace, and his father's cross. At the ripe age of 22, he set out on his own after resigning from the local militia. He took the armor and weapons he had bought for himself, and decided he wanted to find his place in the world. That town had become alien to him, after all the years of abuse and neglect. He wanted to be far as possible away from the bad memories. He fled toward a local trading village, which had no name. He decided to shack up there, until his wanderlust returned. He began to wander again, in search of another home he could call truly his, and sometime on his journey, he ran into a lowly noble, a baron by the name of Daniel Woodreave. He gave his services, and became a guard underneath the man.
Dacien is a devout canonist, believing in God. He always believed God had a plan for him, and everyone he met. He believes that the holy orders that protect the faith, fight in direct interest of God, and stands on the pillar that the Church can do no wrong; compared to many around him. He does not believe very highly in the new states, like Renatus-Marna, or the new independent crop of barons and towns that claim to be kingdoms. He is indifferent to all races, even though many hate elves and orcs.
