"LEON BARCLAY IS STILL ALIVE"

Minitzian War Song

Composed in the year of our Lord 1908

Composed by a Reinmaren bard who accompanied the Aaunic fighters to the Siege of Atrus against the dragon Cloudbreaker, the song was written after the return of Duke Leon Barclay to his Duchy in Minitz. Rumor had spread that the Duke had died, after he was kicked off the wall by a shaman orc.

Although meant to protect the easter wall of Atrus together, the Aaunic fighters came to clashes with the orcs, as the Duke prepared for a tactical retreat to the square behind the walls, which had come close to collapse. With little orcish intelligence, the Sons of Krug had seen this as a dishonorable move, wishing instead to go into a suicide charge. As inner conflict grew amongst the warriors, the city had fallen and burned, and, with the men surrounded, a final stance against the hoards of undead before them was the last decision. Thus the Duke prepared to fight with his men, when one of the shaman orcs came behind him, kicking him off the wall and straight into the pikes. Many believed the Duke to be dead, and he so would have been, if it wasn't for the aid of King Alexander I of Balian, who carried him for kilometers to the war clinic camp.

The time of year once again nears that the Landtag of Minitz must gather, to propose edicts and vote on the law of the Grand Kanun of our realm. Let all the seated Tribesmen of Minitz be present, as per their duty, as will the Lawmen, with propositions ready.

Let all know that on this fifth summoned Moot, the Herzog shall personally propose new  and drastic changes to the very nature of the Tribes of our realm, and their potential elevation. Thus, it is paramount that all Tribesmen do appear before the Landtag.

It is by the wish of the Herzog that the FIFTH Leonite Moot of Minitz be summoned, for the Landtag of the realm to propose and vote on edicts of the Law, and to hear the proposal of the Herzog for the future of the Tribes of Minitz

His rule and superiority was not subverted in any way by the righteous cause to canonize Sutica.

Leon had also traveled all the way to Salvus to hear the academic take of the great historian, philosopher and theologician Leopold, whom they called "the Wise". He took much inspiration, and learned a great deal just by the wise's man presence, whose knowledge and intellect radiated greatly.

"Amin" says the Herzog as he gazes upon the poster, making to find some courtier who'd find the artist lad and commission a proper painting for the church or his own castle walls.

It has come upon the knowledge of the Herzog that a statue of an Owl has been constructed not far from the walls of Neu Brandthof, its beak facing our pious city. Innocent as it appears, it has become apparent that the statue symbolizes a demon paramount, as per the words of Ser Philip, a most pious templar.

The statue has been raised in honor of a self-labeled demon which itself calls ‘the Owl’. Thus is it said that many a cultist visits the statue to offer sacrifices to their false god, and even worse, that such can be used as an outpost for the forces of Iblees and its minions to spread their corruption.

The Herzog and his Chivalric Order of the most holy Saint Tylos do prepare for an offensive response to such diabolical events. Ye, it is our most paramount task to ensure the safety of his populace, for the Chieftain who does not protect his tribe is a disgrace.

Thus, the Ritter of Saint Tylos have been delegated to increase patrol along the roads in and outside the walls of Neu Brandthof, to aid any unarmed men and women, be their Reinmaren or not, against these forces.

Furthermore, it is the wish of the Herzog to let know all of the populace of our realm on how to prepare and act in cases of attacks from the minions of Iblees.
 

PRECAUTIONS

I. THE LENT OF VENERABLE ERNST

GOTT is and shall always remain our most powerful protector, His grace is our shield, and our belief is our sword. Thus, it is through the counsel of our late Bishop Konstantin, GOTT rest his soul, that methods of Lenting as spiritual trials was researched. The Lent, upheld by the Venerable Ernst Barclay, former Count of Freimark and later hermit, was found.

Thus, the Herzog does call for all the sons and daughters of Minitz to participate in the following lent, so that our souls may be redeemed and our sins forgiven, so that the Saints may smile down on us and their favor be with us in our time of need. Thus is the Lent called forth:

• That products of meat not be feasted upon, be it the flesh of cow or hen, fish or shrimp, cooked or raw, none be consumed. Fish may only be consumed during the Sun’s Smile (Sundays)
• That products deriving from animals be not consumed during Snow’s Maiden and the First Seed (Wednesday and Friday). Eggs, milk, butter, or whatever it be that comes from the tamed or untamed beasts not be consumed, be it through direct eating or through inclusion in meals.
• For the most faithful sons and daughters of Minitz, let their mouths taste no food and their thirst be quenched by no drink during the Snow’s Maiden (Wednesday), so that the new year they may pass with clear stomachs and a state of abstinence.

May GOTT help us, and may He aid those who this Lent shall uphold

II. PRAYERS

Alongside their lent, let the good Canonists of our realm double their prayers, and let the most pious of them triple them. Through prayer we shall achieve deliverance, and through the grace of GOTT we can combat Iblees.

III. WEAPONS OF AURUM

Let it be known by all sons and daughters of Minitz that the Herzog does encourage them to hold weapons of aurum with them at all times. Such are known as efficient against the forces of Iblees and his spawns, for the pure metal does burn the corrupt flesh as the pure soul burns the corrupt air.

IV. VIGILANT TRAVEL

Let no sons and daughters of Minitz leave the walls of Neu Brandthof carelessly. Especially so after dusk until dawn, when the sun goes down and dark settles the lands. Let none in their right mind travel during such time.

And, those who the roads must cross, let them avoid the statue of the owl, and with a companion let them travel. Let the pious walk with prayers in their minds and Lorraines of aurum with them, so that GOTT may protect both their soul and flesh.

V. INQUIRE AND INFORM

The sons and daughter of Minitz who more wish to know on how to protect themselves and their families, or how to combat the evils that surround us, the clergy shall await their questions, and, if through arms they wish to assist, let them present themselves in front of the Herzog or his Ritters.

Given that a man’s Schwur is his bond, and his reputation is bound upon it, let it be known that no man shall slander another under his Schwur. Given that a man’s innocence can be proven through the Schwur witness of a great many of tribesmen, this proposal follows that a man’s guilt can be proven through an identical manner. Let it be so that no man who is known by the Tribesmen as criminal can escape punishment through clever acts.

EDICT: 

Thus is it proposed that the FOURTH Trial in the SECOND Book of the Kanun:

"The word of the Schwur is most sacred, it is what binds the Reinmaren to their soul and to their honor. The Schwur of the Reinmaren will be taken of most seriousness by their kin, for if it is based on falsity, their soul it shall wither, and Reinmaren they shall be no more. Thus, let the accused be tried by those who believe him to be righteous. The Trial by Schwur may be called, and the accused may bring forth as many sons and daughters of Minitz as they can to vouch their Schwur for the innocence of the accused. Let the sons and daughters of Minitz only give their Schwur where it fits, and not throw it in vain. For if they so do, the Kanun will shun them, as will their honor, their circle, and their family. The realm will turn its back on them, and they will be deemed unfit to speak, as per the Kanun. So says the Kanun. If enough people swear their Schwur for the innocence of the accused, no further trial will be required, and the accused will be branded as righteous and innocent. It so be found, however, that the accused was indeed guilty of their crime, every son and daughter of Minitz who pledged their Schwur to their innocence will follow them into their rightful punishment."

Let it be known that those who have been branded as banished-folk are guilty of the most treacherous of crimes, and let their act of trespassing on our Reinmaren soil. Granted that men and women of Minitz can be pronounced innocent following a trial by Schwur, it follows that they can be proven guilty by a similar trial.

EDICT: 

Thus is it proposed that the SIXTH Wrongdoing of the FOURTH Chapter in the FIRST Book of the Kanun:

"From foundations a home arises, be it a castle, tower or hovel, enough that it is toppled by a roof. Every structure present within the yard is one with the house, as is the yard itself. Everyone who thus enters a Reinmaren’s home ought to make a sound and call. If your call remains unanswered by the resident, turn around and go back to your business. He who opens the gate to another man’s house after an unanswered call is branded a trespasser by the Kanun. As such, the leader of the household is entitled to the gold price from the trespasser without further punishment, lest they rob or steal."

Our Grand Kanun gives rights and empowerment to all Reinmaren men who want to unite and fight for a common cause. For this end, our ancestors have created the tribe for the Reinmaren to organize themselves under a Chieftain of high repute and skill, who would bear the responsibility of leadership.

However, some Chieftains can be led astray, and in turn wicked. We have not created any laws of the Kanun in attempting to regulate those Chieftains, who are Joshqiptars, who are wicked, who are controlling. Thus, it is high time to do so.

EDICT: 

Thus it was proposed that a FIFTH section be added to the SEVENTH Chapter in the FOURTH Book of the Kanun:

"It is the greedy Chieftain, who wishes all men to be under his spear. One tribesmen gained for one Chief, means one lost for another. The Kanun frowns upon such, for it is only the mantle of the High Chief to hold command over all his tribe. Thus, the Kanun decrees; The Law on the population of the tribe shall also apply to those foreign servants of the tribe, be it those who bear the tribe’s second-name, or those who are under the protection of the Chieftain in gainful employment."

As the celebration season of Krugsmas comes to an end, and the relevant representatives of the Landtag nominated, it is thus high time that the Landtag of Minitz comes together in the FOURTH Moot of Minitz. Thus, the first Lawmen of Minitz may bring forth edicts of the Grand Kanun of our realm, ensuring its continued evolution and adaptation.

Additionally, the matter of appointing the new Mayor of Neu Brandthof shall be discussed, with Hans von Minitz currently as the most likely prospect for the position since the nominations.

Finally, let it be known that the terms of the newly elected Lawmen and to-be-determined Mayor shall begin from the holding of this Fourth Moot, to serve for the following four years.

The Landtag summoned shall be composed of all Reinmaren tribesmen who have undergone their trials and thus stand as the Seated of the Landtag.

It is by the wish of the Herzog that the FOURTH Leonite Moot of Minitz be summoned, for the Landtag of the realm to come together and begin the processes of the expansion and editing of the Kanun.

As per the abdication of Ritter Wilheim Barclay from the position of the Herrenmeister due to complications concerning the Ritter's health, it is thus high time for the mantle to be passed on. From the first Ritter of Minitz who were knighted under the first Herrenmeister, Johann, the exploits, loyalty, and diligence of one has stood out amongst the few that still remain. Yvian Ritter Galken has proved himself a fair leader, a man of hard work and most worthy of being a Ritter of the Vander, and to hold a place amongst the Herzog's Herrenhaus.

Thus, it is by the Decree of the Herzog that:

YVIAN RITTER GALKEN BE ELEVATED AS THE HERRENMEISTER OF MINITZ, TO TAKE A SEAT AMONGST THE MEMBERS OF THE HERZOG'S HERRENHAUS, TO OVERSEE THE COMMANDING AND EXPANSION OF THE CHIVALRIC ORDER OF SAINT TYLOS THE STALLION OF REINMAR.

Alongside such elevation, the Knighting of the Second group of the Ritter of Minitz shall take place, amongst whom Maxwell von Minitz, Irid von Minitz, and Robert Stroheim shall take their oaths within the Barclay keep in the Herzogtum of Minitz on this Saint's Day!

Within the the wall of the ducal keep in Neu Brandthof, Leon learns of Petsch's passing from one of his courtiers. Stoically, he nods, a face emotionless, uttering no words. To his office he ventures then, locking the door on his way in. From the many piles of paper, he takes one, accompanied by his quill, seemingly beginning to write something official.

He remained quiet as he did so. Silence dominated the room, a heavy silence, a silence of frozen grief. As he wrote, the Barclay's mind ventured to decades past. The first image of Petsch appeared in his mind, when he approached outside the walls of Durres. Two Reinmaren men, two brothers of no related blood, related by their culture and values, by their homeland and their lifestyle. Immediate friends they became, and for Minitz they both worked, for a common cause, a cause bigger than both of them, a cause that bonded them as brothers.

Only few words he was able to write before the quill was placed flat on the table. His heavy heart couldn't allow him to concentrate. He got up, and went towards the window, gazing upon the lands of Neu Brandthof. Finally, a hard noise echoes around the room as Leon thudded his chest, followed by the splash of tears drenching the wooden floor.

Herzog Leon smiled as he cheered "Glory to Roa!"
