  1. Jarsek Myrsta reads over this missive and mutters softly “Seems rather enjoyable...”

He then dispatches a letter to Quentyn via owl with a Phoenix emblem that tells Quentyn to arrive at the Kadarsi Smithy and talk to a Jarsek Myrsta within the next three elven days...

    (Saint’s day for hoomans)

  2. A NOTE TO THE LT

This deity lore has been self-denied as the content of this entity has character bias towards a PK’d character and results in a protagonist syndrome to occur, however this deity will be later revised and re-submitted alongside with the Oblivion Magic re-submission. I do ask for this thread to be locked to prevent any more editing or commenting so that this lore can be sorted into appropriate channels due to my decision to self-deny the lore presented here.

    Thank you.

  3. EVENT REQUEST FORMAT

    Players/Group Requesting: TheDragonsRoost

What kind of Event are you looking for?: Low Fantasy, mainly a short event. This event is related to Voidal Shifting and is mostly roleplay. If needed, I can discuss this event with the ET who claims this.

Approximately, what time/date you want the Event to take place?: (I’m in Pacific Stand Time, so it’ll be in PST) 11/12/18 at 2:00pm

DragonsRoost. I am not trying to antagonize you or otherwise attack you. I’m giving you advice – like a friend, despite the fact we do not know one another. And like a friend, I’m honest. Your writing skills are poor. I have seen 7th graders write better than this. Know that I am not accusing you of this to just dunk on your writing skills and call you out for the sake of it – that would be redundant. I’m here to help.

Below is a rewrite of what you just wrote – I tried to salvage what you’ve written here, with the hope you’ll learn from it. Be aware that I do not know of your original in-universe intentions for the story, so some things may be shifted around when compared to your vision. It’s meant to be an example, after all.

Everything burnt to ash in a matter of seconds - floating in the air, the last embers of the lives that once stood there. Remnants of memories, dreams, desires, hopes, ambitions. The figure ones this. He wasn't immune to empathy, despite what he tried to tell himself. His blade dripped crimson blood. These lives, though snuffed, left a mark on it, just as they had on its wielder. He took no pleasure in the atrocity he had committed. Yet as each drop of blood hit the ground, he tried to hide this shame.

    They deserved it.

    I has no other choice.

    It was my duty.

    It was my duty.

Duty. Yes, that was what it was. It would have been an atrocity to leave them alive. To leave but a trace of their existence here was a crime. That is why they burned. What greater a crime than to expose him? To threaten his own duty? Nothing could be left - to trace him back to the silver city would be the end of it. That could not happen. He would be hunted. His family would know. To bring such shame would hurt them. They had no part in this - yet his brethren would turn their eyes to them first. To put those he cared about in danger out of neglect was unnecessary. Not to mention the threat those same brethren would pose to his purpose if they knew.

He began to wipe his blade, sitting down and watching what lay before him be consumed by the flames. They roared in response, sweeping upwards into a great bonfire, as if they agreed with him. Nothing could be left. Only ashes would remain. "My job here is done." He muttered quietly. "May their gods look over them..." He paused.

    Duty.

"...and send them to Iblees himself for their deception and betrayal."

When writing an evil or otherwise morally unjustifiable character, it is important to humanize them. Give them real concerns, motivations, thoughts, ambitions, etc. It’s why many find evil characters so interesting. It’s why Milton’s Satan is so well regarded. But be careful to not overdo it, lest you end up with unnecessary angst.

Symbolism is good. Incorporate it often when trying to convey anything complex – but don’t overdo it, lest you confuse the reader and make the symbolism more complex than what it’s actually trying to portray, because the purpose (usually) is to make the ideas easier to understand. Keep it concise, yet detailed. Personification serves the same purpose, but is even easier to pull off. Learn these techniques and your work will benefit immensely.

And of course, you may want to have others proofread your work before submitting it to any audience.

Please, for your sake and others, take this advice to heart and apply it. And do make sure to post more here and wherever else you wish for your work to be seen – practice makes perfect!

This will be a definite and I’m thankful for your constructive criticism so I shall take this to heart.
    Thank you!

  5. Everything burnt to ash in a matter of seconds. The blade was dripping crimson blood as the black robed figure burned brightly with a fire in his eyes. It was slaughter of many rogue elves that had consorted with the humans and the orcs to engage in a war that was never to pass and the fire consumed the bodies of those that fell. He did not want any evidence of what transpired here to exist so that the evidence would be transported back to Okarn’thilln and exile him and his family from the silver city.

He began to wipe his blade of the blood that once pumped through the veins of the elves and humans he slaughtered. Ironically, he wouldn’t even partake in the flesh of those he had considered impure so that he could not be tainted before setting the bodies alight. Once the job was done, the figure sat down and watched the place be consumed by the flames that escalated into a bonfire. He sighed as he felt pleased from this sight and began to mutter softly.

“My job here is done.” He softly muttered, sheathing his blade. “May their gods look over them and send them to Iblees himself for their deception and betrayal. Now then, I must make my way to Atlas. I have business there to attend to...”

OOC: Due to some things that are best not mentioned, I’m making this edit to say that this story is non-canon and is not endorsed by the LT. This story is only meant to be a entertaining piece, nothing more. Thank you.

  6. Jarsek would attend the ascension of the new Caliph and after the procedure was finished, he would pledge a promise to the caliph and to Ibraheem that his bloodline would keep their story recorded throughout their long and prosperous lives.

This promise would be enacted with the famous Phoenix symbol of the Myrsta clan as Jarsek’s signature and he would give such a copy of this promise to the humans present...

“Congratulations on your ascension, Abdullah. For my gift, I present you with a signed document that the Descendants of my bloodline shall be your scholars and warriors, whether they be skilled in the blade, bow, or the Arcane arts.” Jarsek says publicly to the Caliph and to Ibraheem at the royal palace. “This is my word of honor, signed in ink and blood.”

  7. Upon his travels, Jarsek would hear of this proposed honor duel and scoff at the notion of honor dueling a monarch.

This proposed notion of failing a people is a foolish act in itself. Only a fool would indicate a failing of a people from a monarch who has seemed to prove quite adequate on leading her people...“ Jarsek scoffed as he held the pamphlet in his hand, crumpling it. “Perhaps I should attend this honor duel as a spectator and see how it would play out...

  8. So far, people have given me the -1’s and the +1’s for reputation points on this application, which did come to be expected. In all honesty, I was (more or less) expecting more -1’s due to how people initially know me from the stream that I did for the server.

It is extremely true that people would give me -1’s and advise me to wait longer to apply for the various staff teams, but to be honest, I like the GM team more because it is what I’m used to do over my three years as a player support. Not to mention that my classes in Career Development, Business Comm, and Marketing can help me in this team if I put in the effort to truly help out.

I’m not pretending when I say that I actually do listen and read the comments, but this time, I’ve kinda grown to accept the fact that there will be people on this server that will get under my skin and will get reactions out of me. It has happened to me in real life and I’ve relied on my friends and family to help me understand the best ways to manage people who get under my skin.

I admire the current Game Moderators on how they are able to “bear their cross” better than me so I hope they may be able to help teach me, as a Trial GM if accepted, to manage the risks of the job and learn the ways to “thicken my skin” so to speak.

Though I’d like to ask the people who see me as unfit for the job to please at least give me a chance. Even if you are adamant that I’d be unfit, all I ask is one chance to try once the application goes into trial phase. Giving someone a chance on one team can prove to be fruitful or barren depending on how you look at it, but my aim and intentions for Game Mod are true and honest. Once I’m able to be in the team, I wish to listen to the players on their situations and their disagreements on the staff teams, hearing them out.

For those that have given me their support in this application, I highly appreciate your willingness to lend me support on this application and I hope to make you proud. You have good hearts and kind words to offer (some of you are on the Forum team), which make you more mature than some of the players on LotC (though to be fair, this is a PG-13 server) and even myself in most cases. It is truly inspiring on how you given support to someone who is struggling irl to make ends meet financially and tries so hard to write his stories in his spare time while also being on an awesome roleplaying server.

For now, I’ll leave this off with a thank you for your awesome comments.

I’m playing Destiny right now and I just wanna say I support TheDragonsRoost for GM. I believe that his business course, career development and marketing included, make him an apt candidate for the position of Game Moderator. If you don’t support him you must be blind, because I see great potential being wasted here.

Adieu. I hear explosions. Hope I’m not dead. ******* aliens.

Destiny is a good game. I played a bit of it on my old Xbox 360 (thats been hawked off for gas $$$) and I think its p neat.

Also, those classes definitely help! I’m learning a lot of new things ?

Do you have access to a Microphone? Yes

Average Daily Play Time? 3-5 hours

Have you held any LotC staff position(s) before? If so, for how long?: No

Do you have prior history in any forms of moderation?

    - I have been staff on multiple factions servers and owned some of my own servers for over three years.
    - I am taking classes on Career Development, Business Communications, and Marketing in school.

Why do you want to join the GM Team?:

I wish to join the Game Moderation team to try and help out the server in the best way I can. I’m not willing to join just to take up a slot and be kicked from the team if I prove to be unable to perform my duties as a GM without proper reason, but I aim to bring my skills as a player support member to LotC and help players that need my help.

Of course, I do wish to adhere to the rules (Terms of Service) of the server and its relevant platforms as a Game Moderator and try my best (as I am only human) to bring out the best of myself rather than the worst. I may be given negative rep points for this application, but the way I see it is that people have yet to understand someone that has a good and timid nature and their roleplay style.

There is a lot of negativity towards players that aren’t yet understood, but as a Game Moderator, I wouldn’t aim to just settle small disputes, but rather think things through with the team and learn better player support techniques or even to teach others on what I know.

Essentially, the reason why I wish to join the Game Moderation team is to provide the best player support I can while also trying to learn more about player support from those who have a greater skill than I do.

  13. OOC: Before you go commenting crazy, let me tell you that this was roleplayed in the Mother Grove in front of witnesses to the event. Nivndil, DaHazelWeasel, Archipelgo, and more have participated in this and here, I present “The Ticking Clock” which is Karren Mrysta’s “Eleventh Hour.”

    ~(+)=(+)~

Karren felt it once again, the feeling of one’s life slipping away. This worried him a lot as he was unsure of the regeneration powers of the Totem that saved his life so long ago, but one thing Karren did know was that it came with a cost. His own life was used up to keep himself alive for as long as he did, but even this seemed futile when faced with the memory of what had waited in the darkness. For this, he sought out the druids of the Mother Grove to help him end this suffering of eternal living death.

They obliged, of course, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s go back a few hours before his death so that it can be understood on why his life was taken from him.

    ~(+)=(+)~

    4 hours before death

“Hello!” Myrr had shouted into the night.

Karren heard distant shouting of his friend (and young human) Myrr. He never learned his last name. The young human that he was happy to serve alongside in the Kadarsi army sounded almost cheerful, though it can be difficult to tell for the high elf to discern. After a moment, Karren screamed out “Hello!” in response.

“Hey Karren!” Myrr replied to Karren’s shout upon recognizing the voice.

Most of the conversation was greeting each other and talking about the night as well as Myrr’s new mask that he purchased from Cloud Temple. However, things took a turn for both the human and Karren as the subject veered towards magic.

“Trust me lad, magic of any kind always comes with a price. I've researched all kinds of magic from Voidal Evocation to Shade, all of them not worth risking your life over.” Karren said to Myrr, sounding serious. In this, he was correct as he both researched and experienced voidal magics.

Myrr didn’t seem to be fazed as he replied “I want to learn magic. I need to learn magic. I feel it deep down, I don't know what it is, but I feel it in my blood, my soul. I need to learn it.”

This turned into a one-sided argument, which Karren explained “You were lucky with losing your memory boy but you never felt death take hold of you and your life slowly and surely ebb away into the coldness of mortality. You were never affected by the dangerous form of death of oneself by oneself to only regenerate back to life at the drop of a hat. You want magic so badly but yet one has tried so many times and failed an equal amount of times.”

Myrr began to sound angry, but what he wasn’t aware was that he had witnessed Karren’s life begin to decay even faster as his anger had made the Totem’s power of regeneration wane even more. “Leave me be. And do not call me boy. Kalí méra to you.”

This would turn out to be the last time Myrr (or anyone in the Kadarsi Caliphate) would see or hear from Karren ever. As Myrr left, he felt his life slip away, reducing his lifespan to only a few short hours. Karren did not have much time left to live either way, and decided to go to the place where his life would end for the final time. To the place where his life began to turn into a downward spiral.

    To the Mother Grove.

    ~(+)=(+)~

1 hour before death (Present Time)

Karren had been breathing heavily as he made his way towards the biggest tree in the Grove, however as he made his way towards the group of druids that were talking, he collapsed to the floor as if his body had been aging rather rapidly. Nivndil and the others heard him fall to the ground and Nivndil walked in an elegant stride towards his body, not aware that Karren was clearly dying very quickly. The druids began to gather around the fallen high elf, seeing him breathe his last, but he whimpered softly that Nivndil had to get close to hear it.

“My..... time........ is...... up........." He whimpers as he feels his life being taken away, his gaze becoming foggy and unable to see. "I...... didn't...... realize........ m-m-my...... T-t-time..... would...... b-b-be..... u-u-up....."

Karren said more to Nivndil, practically begging for her to kill him so that he may finally die. She did grant his last request.

With her pulling a knife and pressing it to Karren’s throat, Nivndil said to Karren “Hileia Mali.. be at peace.. think of home" in a soothing, gentle tone. This pleased Karren as he began to think of the good he had done in his life and with that, he felt his life finally end with the sound of his throat being cut. His last words to the druids were only told to the druids present at his death, but it was something beautiful for his last words or at least he had hoped it was beautiful.

Now a spirit, soon to be departing the world of the living and join those in the afterlife, he stuck around for a moment to watch as his physical body was dragged and buried in an unmarked grave. He waved at Elenora, who handled his corpse, though it was a mere trick of the light to her.

Finally, as he departed the world of the living to join those in the afterlife, he smiled as he flew into the astral Afterlife....

    ~(+)=(+)~

    The Will

Nivndil was given a will that Karren seemed to have written up just a day prior by his old pet owl alongside a letter. In this will, which is released publicly as “The Will of the Madman,” the following was said:
    - In the event of my death, all of my worldly possessions would be turned over to the Kadarsi Caliphate to be used however they wished. My mina, however, would be given to the Mother Grove as compensation of my transgressions and to be used however they wished.

    - Upon my death, I wish to have my body cremated so that no defilement can be done by any kind of magic. My ashes should be given to the Kadarsi and spread upon the ground in front of their gate.

    ~(+)=(+)~

OOC: Okay, that finishes up Karren Myrsta’s story (for good this time) and from this, I’ll be taking a 3-day break from LotC and then begin my adventure as Sorelis Daevear. See you guys later!

Hey mate, I’m here to also throw some feedback to your application. I am not here to shoot you down for fun or make you feel bad, but I am here to offer you genuine feedback based on how I’ve seen you in this community thus far.

You recently applied to the Application Team and I denied you for a few reasons that will hold you back from joining any staff team in my humble opinion. First and foremost, you are a new player. There is a lot you have to learn about this server before you delve into moderating it to any extent. Whether it be applications, the forums, or the server itself. You can learn a lot about staff and this community just by being a part of it, you don’t have to get your hands dirty helping direct this bumbling mess of people. While your desire to help is admirable, that alone is a big reason why now is not the time. Moving forward from that, your recent behavior on the server really is a no go. We all make mistakes, we all have melt downs from time to time, but once you’ve reached a position on staff you really need to hold yourself to a higher standard. You can’t freak out, you can’t treat people poorly. You have to be the bigger person. At time the staff falls short of that, but for the most part I like to think we as functioning body on LotC manage to maintain overall maturity.

In these moments of stress and emotion, you’ve dropped the ball. That is unacceptable on any team. If you treat an applicant to this server poorly because they are confused or may be rude to you, you’d be immediately axed from my team. While I can’t say for sure how Flamboyant would handle the LT, I am positive he and his managers would not accept a melt down, let alone repeated ones while you were a member of the Lore Team.

As said above, you should focus on just being a new player and enjoying the roleplay LotC has to offer. Keep up the good work streaming, get the server out there, be supportive and helpful in the community as an outspoken voice. You will eventually be noticed and find a place on a team that fits you.

I wanted to share this information with you in regards to your AT application, but with your recent attempts at joining teams, I hope this can help you grow and succeed within the community.

    Let’s see.....

    1.  I’ve played for three months and counting. Not sure on how I’m still new....
    2. Agreed that my desire to help is admirable (commendable, even), but sometimes you need a creative writer on the team. To generate new content and fresh storylines.
    3. I’m not blind to my behavior that seem to have gripped most of this community in very negative ways. I do aim to change this “negative image” as long as people understand that I am trying my best to amend such actions.
    4. True that repeated meltdowns would get me axed from any staff team. However, I’m determined to try and minimize those meltdowns as humanly possible even when I get accepted into a team.
    5. I thank you for your constructive feedback, Dromui, but the only question I have for you is why not just think or see that even if I have such meltdowns, there can people on the team(s) that can help me calm down by speaking to me in private and talking me through it all? That tactic has worked in the past with me.

...That’s pretty much what I’m seeing here. (Tried to shorten down the reply okay?)

On the subject of the amount of posts that are getting hidden, I apologize to anyone laying out their comments here today but unfortunately it’s not the time or the place.

On the amount of posts commenting on ‘LOTC is a toxic cesspit’, gonna stop you right there; while it is as my charge to be neutral and without biased as FM- understand that you yourself play on LOTC, utilize it’s services for whatever purposes, and you add to it’s community. Now, I understand that you’ve returned with some nuances from the community, but I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that you really need to drop your hatred or disdain towards other players of the community- it’s not healthy, and you won’t ascend in the community with those remarks. Please take a step back, breath, and re-assess what exactly you’re getting into.

Oh believe me, I’m deciding to take another stance on the disdain/hatred rather than just allowing it to consume my common sense. Not to mention that it is one that I’ve used in the real world often.

As an LT you’re gonna need to know lore in and out, especially for whatever section you’re applying for. You might have to handle situations with powergaming involving a magic or an abuse of an item. If you wanna write stories just write stories, you don’t need to be an LT to get creative.

Well, I have time to learn magic lore if needed. For now, I’m just wanting general LT.

  17. 10 minutes ago, Unwillingly said:

Dude, seriously just listen to what people are saying. You continue to make these applications even though people clearly aren’t fond of you or your recent actions and attitudes towards the server. I would personally never want you anywhere near any staff position. At this point, this is all on you since you continue to keep making these applications despite all of the criticism from players.

    • You are a person who lashed out at the community because some people did some mean things to you on stream. This leads me to say that if you couldn’t handle what happened on stream, you sure as hell wouldn’t be able to handle being a staff member.
    • You are applying for staff applications left and right. On nearly every application, it’s all been -1s all the way through. What was your response? Continue making more staff applications. Smart mans 90000 iq.
    • Being an LT isn’t just “I know about elves uwu” it’s way more than that. You need to have a good understanding of the server, its history, etc. This isn’t really an “I’ll learn it as as I go” job like some other teams might be.

Stop it. Take some time to consider what people are saying. You are unfit for any staff team at all.

      -1

No, the actual point of these apps is to try and get some experience as an LotC staff member. Jeez, you guys are -1’ing me left and right just cause of some things that occurred and are settled by now.

Besides, I’m not mad on what you say and I’m being honest in my applications, which is more than I can say with how people think towards me. Yes, people are going to tell me to stop applying for staff, but they really can’t stop me from trying anyway.

Being unfit for staff isn’t going to hinder me from trying to apply for staff, Unwilling. If you lot want me to be blunt, then let me be blunt.

As I’ve said multiple times in this reply, I’m TRYING to apply for staff because I wish to TRY and learn. I’m honestly getting sick of people being all negative about it, so please just accept the fact that I’m trying and what the decision is, I’ll go with it.

As for Its_Just_Leap’s comment, you can calm down, alright? Seriously, you can be more mature than just typing in red text and complaining about I don’t know much about server lore. The only thing I see wrong with your replies is that you all ignore that fact that your lore remains incomplete and not much of these deities/realms that can be visited have not been visited or even used much this map. Why not just make stories about these deities? Visit these realms and explore their unknown bounds?

So, before you go blowing off on me, think about it. Why shouldn’t there be storylines to connect these deities or even to visit these magical realms?

Elven race lore and some magical lore. Other than that, not much else.

Do you have a solid grasp on the existing lore of our server? Would you be comfortable moderating it in-game?

I have a sizable understanding of the current lore of LotC, but I wouldn’t mind learning more even as an LT Moderator. I don’t mind moderating over the lore of LotC in-game as it could also help me learn more.
