To those stating that Dragon is posting his lore for his own gain - pause for a moment and think; are you actually correct there? Do you genuinely believe you are in the right? Because where you see someone apparently wanting a new fancy magic for himself, I see a writer who seeks to try and incorporate an interesting factor onto the server by thinking out of the box and also to share his writing with everyone else. TheDragonRoost has worked hard on this lore since the day I met him a few months ago, and honestly - he has never come across as someone wanting power or an advantage for his character. I'm a writer and TheDragonRoost's passion for writing, whenever it be short story writing or lore writing, is something I truly admire.

So who are all of you to judge that he's in it for the power and comment on this post, especially when some of you openly admitted you didn't read the lore and barely provided any criticism or feedback in a more professional manner? Yes, his concept may sound stupid to you, but does that give you the right to simply skip it and go "You're in it for the power and self-gain!"

To simply put it - get a grip and provide some actual criticism and read the lore TheDragonRoost actually went out of his way to write this post yet there are those of you who think "Eh, don't give a flick" and just post a comment that holds no relevance or feedback. The posts I'm seeing haven't been providing feedback and have just been flat out disgusting with the insulting and lack of care. So keep any unnecessary comments out of here if they're providing no feedback to the writer, positive or negative alike. Right now, you're just being disgraceful for taking it on yourselves to completely disregard posting any feedback on a lore submission, where players give their personal feedback to the lore writers.

Hyena - I'm calling you out. No one cares about your comment about how this lore is none other than that it's TheDragonRoost's apparent attempt to claim power or magic. As well as anyone else who's considering writing what something along those lines. If you believe this lore is not worth reading but still want to be a hypocritical disrespecting individual, then kindly do not even comment on this post at all and allow those who actually want to give feedback to do it.

    ----

    Now.

@TheDragonsRoost - I read your lore and I've got both positive and negative feedback to give to you (seeing how folks so far haven't gone out of their way to read the lore and back up their claims).

A unique intake in dark magic as it's providing a more morally-okayish magic, compared to the all out or near dark magics. Furthermore, an Aengudaemon that revolves around dark magic? I know we have Iblees and the Ithuzuki (can't remember the spelling correctly) patron, but it does create a form of balance between the more light/good based Aengudaemons and the more darker ones. Plus, the lore itself does expand into more interesting areas that aren't really explored upon in LotC. Lastly, the lore itself is very well written, neat to read, and simple and to the point, but also provides enough necessary details regarding the Aengudaemon, how they think and act, and what they seek to do by influencing the mortal realm.

    Feedback points

Now. I am a bit curious if you've been told by the LT, but you do need to post the full lore. Not just a bit here and leave the rest on a google doc. It's so that the lore is fully on the forums and cannot be edited, preventing any lore writers from making sudden edits to their lore without the LT knowing. Plus, the google doc is rather easy to miss, meaning many who read this may not read the full extension of the lore. It really helps people out if things are more organised.

I am also curious about Zarelek's realm - how does it appear? I know you briefly mentioned it but having a paragraph in detail explaining the realm would provide more insight to the Aengudaemon, and does help out builders if this lore is accepted and the Aengudaemon becomes used.

Lastly, I recommend looking up and reading more on lore in general. It'll really help you out in writing lore further, as well as help you to keep a sense of continuity with the server's basic lores. This includes the Aengudaemonic lore, magic lore, etc, etc. I can say that there are some areas that do need fixing so that this Aengudaemon is more suitable for the server, though that's pretty much the feedback I have to offer.

Hopefully this helps! And good work on the writing!

Thanks @Farryn for posting this as I enjoyed reading your reply! I hope to provide more submissions like this in the future.

@TheDragonsRoost  Hello, Delmo here. One of the LT managers. I’m posting to inform you that you need to place the complete lore on the thread itself as that is what the team goes by when we review the lore. Google docs are fine to place as well, but isn’t something we consider canon.

@Delmodan I will be adding more information to the Deity, rest assured. It was close to 2am PST when I submitted this so I couldn’t think of more than what you have read. Thank you for letting me know of how you process lore submissions though!

Where does this character fit in amongst the Divine Pantheon? Is it an Aengul / Daemon? An aspect? A spirit?

I’m honestly not sure, @Narthok on his exact placement within the Divine Pantheon. I just consider him a deity.

Honestly, I like you kid. I’m nothing but a mouth breathing crossdresser so, take my words with a grain of salt if you wish!

The idea and lore behind your magic aren’t BAD. Allow me to preface my statements with that. I like the idea of a more antagonistic and EVIL dark magic and community as we currently have the Shades who prefer teatime roleplay, the witches and necromancers who prefer not logging on, and the mystics who just genuinely avoid conflict. Are ALL of these bad? No, but when it comes to the idea of DARK MAGIC you usually think of an antagonistic evil force, right?

My first suggestion would be to message this guy, I’ll swallow my pride and take back my further statements. He can really help you out here.

Secondly, I agree with a lot of the questions Farryn rose and I’m genuinely curious myself. Where did his realm come from and how does it appear? What exactly is Shadow and Oblivion magic along with their specific abilities? If you need help with making these two magics unique please feel free to message me. As a community deemed magic collector, I know just about all the ins and outs of most magics and their specific abilities. What is this deity’s purpose or goal? What does he stand for in terms of his actual belief system? Is he a Daemon / Anguel or some sort of beefy Shamanistic Spirit?

Finally, the people who are stating you’re doing this for personal gain... I don’t know you too well, and I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt in believing that is not your intention. I’ll agree with Farryn once more. Further outline how this may be used as more of a dark deifiic magic, as I believe that was the intention, with benefits for its followers and make sure to avoid pyramid scheme ideas.

    Good luck!

@Luv Though I do appreciate the sentiment, one of the magics (Shadow Magic) is not my own idea. That honor belongs to @Melkor__ as I had worked on his Shadow Magic project as a writer of his lore for the magic and he cancelled that project as the original deity for it did not seem to fit or couldn’t be used at all. I created this deity to work for Melkor’s Shadow Magic and for my own Oblivion Magic submissions as I hope to submit the magic that I hope gives LotC more flavor and more life to it.

As for all other comments, please refrain from giving truly non-constructive criticism as Keefy mentioned in his reply. I’d like to say this in the long run: “If you do not have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

Also, there will be an extension of the present lore as I do not mind expanding more on your curious questions, though that will take some time to fully write out!
Thank you @Farryn, @Luv, @Melkor__, and @Delmodan for your lovely replies as well to those who offered good pointers on what to do with my deity lore!

  2. A note to the Lore Team

I have written this deity for the purpose of bringing in new Dark Magic that can help the Ascended or to even to introduce a story arc for the overall story of Lord of the Craft. As we go into LotC 7.0, I think it best that I put my ideas into play and offer up new suggestions to the lore of Lord of the Craft in full expectance that my written lore is left to chance and up to the group of people who moderate the server lore. I've always been inspired to write fantasy since I was a kid and I feel that through LotC, I can expand my writing skills into more than just roleplay lore but apply those skills in writing my books even further.

I've also made this deity to be compatible with magics that I hope to be relevant to this deity, including both Oblivion and Shadow magics. I also wrote the Laws of Oblivion and Laws of Shadow as a means to help govern those who would abuse this deity's power in-character and to hopefully avoid pitfalls with these new magics I hope to introduce.

I was also very moved by a thread that Tato made about Voidal Magic and that I took some of his pointers on the magic system about the downsides of voidal rp and my aim with this deity and his magic that he will provide to LotC is to help increase the flavor rp in magic roleplay. Believe me, I'm tired of the stale rp that some magic provides.

For MisterBones' lovely reply, I was also moved to write this note down. I'm merely trying my hardest to bring my ideas to life on Lord of the Craft, aiming to bring nothing more than revitalization to a roleplay server that I feel can have more in-depth content and storylines that aim to include all manner of people and entertain all ages. No disrespect to the Lore Team members that MisterBones had mentioned in his reply, but all I feel like is to just help out with the server and its lore.

Essentially my goal is to just help out and offer fresh ideas to everyone, which I know make people anxious and somewhat toxic towards me, but I'll never stop trying to achieve this goal if it means to help by giving roleplay more flavor and more action to it all.

To that end, I say thank you for reading!

-1, didn't read. The title and song were enough. I know where this going based on your short story. No. You're just trying to make yourself more powerful. Please cease. Stop trying to ruin our lore for your own gain. Please invest your time elsewhere.

Dude, calm the eff down, alright? This isn't just for me as I have spent time on this deity trying to come up with something to give the magic meaning without going all anime on it. If you do not like what I post, please block me as I have tried my best to be patient with the playerbase of LotC as they have gotten a negative image of me and I am trying my best to rectify such an image.

I also have no magic on any of my characters and some of them I do not wish to have magic on. You commenting about me investing my time elsewhere is downright rude as I can spend my time how I like. Your opinion is your own and it comes down to the LT on this deity whether we like it or not. If you wish to have the opinion that I'm "ruining lore" then that is your own view. I am not going to get banned on the forums or on the server for simply just submitting a lore piece.

Also, if you did not fully read it, then why bother commenting?

    Thank you, Hyena.

    Theme song for Zarelek:

    Zarelek...

    Time to wake up...

Zarelek had been scrying for hours on the boy with his Ethyrian Star, watching over him from his throne room in his ever-decaying castle within the Realm of Oblivion, a vast realm of nothingness and structures built of the Oblivion Energy that is constantly generated. He had no idea of how long time had passed since time meant very little in the Realm of Oblivion. To the many, it was a hellish plane of existence, meant for those who were too powerful for their own magic and consumed by their own feelings of guilt and bound by shackles forged from their dying ethereal light. Zarelek ruled over this Realm as a god, but he craved something infinitely more precious than this realm of his own.

He craved the presence of others. He wished to teach others of his knowledge than rather have people wage war on each other. He was one of the only gods of Dark Magic that did not crave absolute power or the attention of rituals done in his name, but rather to crave the attention of others and teach them of magic that would benefit themselves as well as others.

Sadly, he did not believe that his powers of Oblivion or Shadow could be used by those who had the mindset of balance. Calm before the storm. Darkness before light and light before darkness. After a thousand years of being bound to the Realm of Oblivion and feeling the power of Oblivion Magic course through his veins, he felt like his unending stasis of decay had not let up since he left the mortal world when the denizens of Atlas had left the continent to all of the other continents. This did not mean he didn't keep a close eye on the people he sought to teach his powerful yet ferocious magic to. Using his knowledge of Shadow Magic, he created the first Shadows which were his eyes in the mortal realm. Unseen and virtually undetected, these Shadows were able to take root everywhere, even in places that Descendants would consider too dangerous to sustain life. They were not creatures of undead origins, but only Zarelek understood what the Shadows were made of. The Shadows were also immortal or gave the semblance of immortality as they could not be seen by mortal eyes.

He was, in the literal sense, old and decrepit with nothing to live for. He did not have any children of his own before or after his confinement, yet he also wished to give his power meaning. Zarelek observed the many people of Atlas, searching for those he considered worthy of his knowledge of the Dark Arts. These people, he believed, possessed an aura unlike any other. Prismatic color with near-infinite potential for any magic and when he found one, he kept an eye on that person to see how they use their potential.

However, this aura was exceedingly rare to find in all of Atlas. Zarelek spent countless years searching for someone with the perfect aura to teach his magic to, utilizing his network of Shadows to spy on the many people as they went about their daily lives. This changed when he observed a high elven man doing some kind of calcuations, seeking knowledge to crack the calculations and access power beyond the Voidal, Deity, and Dark magics. Zarelek noticed his aura shining with a prismatic aura and he had a charming nature to him, which made Zarelek think that he could divert the high elf's calcuations to his own benefit.

It took many years in the mortal realm for Zarelek to make up his mind and decide he would offer up the man a deal to which he would benefit greatly while also giving the man what he wished. More or less.

Upon his final decision, Zarelek sent a Shadow to suppress the high elf's magical potential and granting the boy irrevocable denial to nearly all magic, save for those that Zarelek would teach him. He found himself a student, but the man would not know it until his calcuations were complete that he had been noticed by a dark deity of magic unseen in millennia...

    Abilities

Zarelek has many abilities due to his masterful skills in Oblivion and Shadow Magics including changing one's identity, hiding in plain sight, and enhancing one's own spellwork. He teaches such knowledge to the most elite of his students or disciples and even teaches his most powerful students to become creatures that constantly draw upon the powers of Oblivion itself to fuel their magic and their very existence. Such creatures are not Shadows, but they represent the caster in the most darkest of lights and can even hear Zarelek speaking to them directly as if he was right next to them.

He has the power to possess one of his disciples at a time to help augment their magic in their time of greatest need, which is helpful against foes that are too powerful for the caster alone to handle. However, he does not possess the power to possess those attuned to other magics other than the magics he himself possesses. Zarelek has deep respect for those who practice magic of nature itself and does not interfere with matters of the druidic or shamanistic type, though he allows all races and all genders to be taught his magic, but however he possesses the ability to corrupt soul trees with his powers of Oblivion Magic and even destroy them if he so wished. Not all of his abilities are known to all people, even those he teaches his magic to.

[EDIT: In the Extended Lore, the redlines for the deity abilities are listed.]

    ~(+)==(+)~

    The Laws of Oblivion

Completely aware of the advantages that his magic would produce for those who learn his magic, Zarelek wrote down an Edict of Oblivion that all those who learn or wish to learn Oblivion Magic will adhere to lest they risk to lose Zarelek's favor and risk losing their connection to him and succumb to the wild power of Oblivion Magic, dying from the damage it would cause.

(OOC: These laws apply to the Oblivion Magic submission that I will write if this deity is accepted. These laws will be enforced by the Magic Lore team or the Lore Team in general and anyone caught breaking these rules can lose their magic after 1 OOC week. They can avoid this by adhering to the rules for 1 OOC week and they may regain their power.)

    1. Thou shall not kill innocents with the use of Oblivion Magic.
    2. Keep thy word of honor.
    3. Do not perform rituals in Zarelek's name.
    4. Do not reveal your brethren to those of authorative power.
    5. Thou shall keep eternal silence of the Shadow Network save to share information with Shadow Mages or fellow Oblivion Mages.
    6. Do not reveal thyself to those who are not worthy.
    7. Thou shall not practice other Dark Magic while wielding the powers of Oblivion, save for Shadow Magic.
    8. Thy shall not adhere to the usage of Deity Magic of the holy kind, save for Druidism or Shamanism.
    9. Oblivion Magic shall not be abused to grant one true immortality from death.
    10. Thou shall be able to learn Voidal Magics, but thou are not allowed to use Oblivion Magic to enhance thy spellwork.

    ~(+)==(+)~

    The Laws of Shadow

Aware of how dangerous and intoxicating Shadow Magic is to those not used to such power, Zarelek wrote up another Edict, one of Shadow, so that those who wish to learn Shadow Magic or learn Shadow Magic must adhere to lest they wish to lose their ability to deceive and conceal. Being incredibly wise, Zarelek hates those who abuse such power and if they broke his rules, they would lose his favor and risk losing their powers forever and letting themselves succumb to their own deceits which would become known to all who were influenced by the mage.

(OOC: These laws apply to the Shadow Magic submission that Melkor will submit if this deity is accepted. These laws will also be enforced by the Lore Team and anyone caught breaking these rules can lose their magic by the end of 1 OOC week. They can avoid this punishment if they adhere to the rules of this deity for 1 OOC week and they may regain their power. However, all deceits or acts of betrayal that the mage created in roleplay will degrade over time and all those who felt the mage's power will start to see the trickery that the mage in question had done if they lose their power completely. This can be avoided if the mage has regained their power by adhering to the rules.) [EDIT: These rules are null and void due to the first amendment within the Extended Lore. This was done as a request from Melkor.]

    1. Thou shall not kill Oblivion Mages.
    2. Do not betray your fellow Shadow Mages or Oblivion Mages.
    3. Thou may perform rituals in Zarelek's name.
    4. Do not break thy word of honor to those who wield Oblivion Magic or Shadow Magic.
    5. Thou shall keep eternal silence of the Shadow Network save to share information with Oblivion Mages or Shadow Mages.
    6. Thou shall not reveal their magic to those unworthy.
    7. Thy cannot practice other Dark Magics save for Oblivion Magic.
    8. Thou shall adhere to not using Deity Magic of the holy kind save for Druidism or Shamanism.
    9. Shadow Magic cannot grant thyself true immortality from death.
    10. Thyself shall be able to learn Voidal Magics, but thou is not allowed to use Shadow Magic to enhance thy spellwork.

    Extended Lore Below

    ~(+)==(+)~

Zarelek sighed within his Realm of Oblivion, wondering on how everything turned out this way. Being bound to this unyielding, ever-decaying, black nothingness that Zarelek had the unfortunate luck of being bound to. Over a thousand years ago, he had been able to interact with the mortal races freely and without consequence, allowing him the chance to meet and possibly even be friends with the mortals who lived out their lives daily. He had been able to sate his craving for attention that long ago, but then something happened that forced him into exile into this realm that was created to specifically bind all who abused their power due to their overwhelming feelings of guilt and sorrow.

Zarelek did not know who or what created this Realm as they remained hidden from his Ethyrian Star when he last tried it. He believed that this was his punishment for what happened a long time ago.

    During the War of Gods.

    ~(+)==(+)~

The war lasted eons. Between the forces of the Daemons that Iblees led against the Aenguls that the Creator had lead into battle, Zarelek was not on either side, choosing to remain neutral. Before he had begun his penace within the Realm of Oblivion, he lived in peace within the town of Dunshire. He loved being around the little halflings who enjoyed their relative peace from the War of Gods that raged on outside of the city’s gates and even enjoyed being in their festivals and silly games. Being a god himself, he did not have the ability to truly be a part of the mortal realm and had even considered giving up his godhood to enjoy a mortal life with the halflings he enjoyed being with so much.

Though this was not to be towards the end of the War of Gods.

Zarelek had been found by the Daemonic forces of Iblees. They desperately wanted his help in defeating the Aengulic forces of the Creator as they heard of his power over the forces of Oblivion, his natural magic. Shades, necromancers, wraiths, and all manner of dark creature came into the city in waves, killing all who stood in their way of Zarelek. Naturally, the halflings banded together in an attempt to hold back the forces of Iblees and giving Zarelek time to flee, but their attempt was short lived. The halflings screamed out in pain as women, men and children were slaughtered by the forces of Iblees and their desperate need for Zarelek’s help in the war effort.

However, a select group of halflings survived. The surviving halflings did not know how or why that they had survived, but Zarelek did know. He saved them from the massacre of the daemon forces who were after him and his powers of Oblivion Magic and this infuriated Zarelek to the point where he broke his promise of neutrality in the war and sided only with himself, using his powers of Oblivion to drive back the daemons from Dunshire and even corrupt their souls to the point where Iblees could not even revive them from the blackened pit of Hell.

“You wanted me and you got me. You got me pissed!” Zarelek screamed out as he pulled out his wand made of elderwood with a core of a stem of an unknown plant. He ignited his wand, which glew a dark purple as his eyes glew purple as well, signaling that he was channeling his powers in spellwork that the daemon forces were not at all prepared to fight against. He began to speak in a deep guttural tone of authority as if he was embodying the power of Oblivion itself within him. “You wanted my help and you slaughtered innocents this day! I’ll never join Iblees or the Creator’s forces in this war! Die, you pieces of Dark filth!”

Within the town of Dunshire, Zarelek had begun to use his powers in the most deadly way possible against the forces of Iblees. He was going to make sure that they never existed from that point onward, even if it meant he’d pay for it later on. He began to cast spell after spell towards the forces of Iblees to the extent that he would run out of magical energy at times and wait some time to regain his power. During these instances of low power, the forces of Iblees would come back and tear apart Dunshire in the feeble attempt to collect Zarelek for Iblees. This happened for a few years until they forced his hand and captured a halfling, one of the very distant ancestors of the Applefoot clan whose name was lost to Time and who was vital for their formation.

Zarelek heard of this and went to rescue the halfling, leaving the town defenseless against any other attack. This would prove to be the nail in the coffin for Zarelek because once he arrived at Iblees’ camp, he was tricked. There was no halfling to rescue, but a mere illusion by one of Iblees’ own in a gamble to see if Zarelek would come running to them. The gamble worked in their favor and Zarelek came running to a trap that Iblees himself organized.

Before anything else happened, Zarelek felt himself become energized with Oblivion Energy. Even for a god, he felt someone watching his every move and before too long, he knew what he had to do.

Zarelek was bound by one of Iblees’ generals and forced to his feet to face judgement by Iblees himself. Apparently, Zarelek had killed one of Iblees’ favorite generals and one that was vital to Iblees’ campaign against the Aenguls of the Creator, which meant that the War was soon to end. Zarelek smiled once he knew what he did against Iblees to force him to resort to mere trickery.

“Master Iblees, we have the Oblivion Mage.” one of Iblees’ commanders said as they entered into the room where Iblees was standing in. To Zarelek, he’d suspect the fallen Aengul to be grossly daemonic, but for Zarelek, he was impressed slightly with the sight of the Aengul in front of him. He didn’t look heavenly like the Creator’s own Aenguls, but he did know of Iblees’ heavenly origin before his fall from grace. In fact, all the lesser known deities knew of the Fall, but Zarelek was there to witness it. Another story for another time.

“Bring him in,” Zarelek heard Iblees say to his commander, who then had him thrown into the room. Zarelek was attuned to the forces of Oblivion, but he could tell the murderous psychopathic aengul he now faced. The Father of all Shades, Iblees himself, was close to Zarelek himself and if Zarelek could forcibly regenerate himself, the blast of Oblivion Magic would be enough to brutally injure the fallen Aengul and his forces so that he can make his escape. However, Iblees seemed to have other plans for Zarelek.

“You killed my general, Zarelek the Wise,” Iblees said to Zarelek, sounding utterly pissed. Zarelek smiled even if he was not injured himself.

“Your people killed innocents. Seemed only fair that I slay your generals as well as demolish your forces as retribution.” Zarelek replied, seemingly happy that he caused Iblees pain. “What’s stopping me from taking out the big bad Iblees himself for the Creator? I could easily use my magic to tear your camp apart, leaving you all dead.”

“You cannot kill me, mage. You bluff on how powerful your magic truly is when all it is good for is what Voidal powers can do. Stale and unoriginal.” Iblees said, grabbing Zarelek’s throat and choking him out. “You aren’t a god but a mere toy of Fate. Of your own power.”

    Spoiler

This forced Zarelek to play his hand too early. Zarelek, though bound, made the rope that bound him decay at over a thousand years a second and forced himself to regenerate by Oblivion Magic. Now, Zarelek knew the consequences of regenerating forcefully as it could make his state of decay worsen over time as well as not be as effective as it would be if Zarelek was dying himself, but he had no choice.

He began to glow a violent purple with the various enchantments to protect himself from the Reaper and before Iblees could stop him, he exploded like a supernova, emitting purple light that seemed to attract the attention of the wizard and the Aengul forces. Zarelek screamed out in pure agony as he regenerated and forcing a lot of brutal injuries onto Iblees and his nearby squadrons, thereby weakening them a bit to give the Aenguls a true fighting chance.

Iblees, however, knew only one spell that could save his army from the magic that Zarelek had power over. The banishing spell. Iblees, in the middle of Zarelek’s regeneration, casted the banishing curse upon Zarelek to happen within the year of Iblees’ defeat by the hands of the wizard and the aengul forces. When the spell was casted, Zarelek’s regeneration was finished and Zarelek laid unconscious, having to wait for the day he’d awaken...

Zarelek woke up a few days later, back in the town of Dunshire. He had a splitting headache and felt like he was extremely woozy after the forceful regeneration he had suffered. He began to get up when the wizard came in with two archaenguls behind him.

“Seems like I have the pleasure of meeting Zarelek himself,” the wizard said as he noticed Zarelek sitting up in what appeared to be a Dunshire medical room. “Regeneration by Oblivion Magic. Nasty form of resurrection.”

“Yeah, it is. Dangerous if you’re not already dying.” Zarelek replied to the wizard.

The wizard smiled a little before he spoke up, sounding sad. “Well, it seems that Iblees has cursed you, Zarelek. He put a banishing curse upon you, but I have enough power to shorten it to at least a few millennia if you want.”

Zarelek thought about it for a moment and he nodded to the wizard, who worked his magic to shorten the banishing curse by a few millennia. After a few moments, Zarelek felt at ease with the wizard and said simply “Thank you.”

After that, Zarelek faded away from the mortal realm, his banishing curse taking hold. A few millennia later, he worked out a way to give himself some time in the mortal realm before the curse took hold once more, the chains of Oblivion dragging him back into the desolate wasteland of nothingness where all Oblivion Energy is generated.

    Well, you know the rest...

    ~(+)==(+)~

    Redlines

Zarelek may have powerful magic at his disposal, but even he is not all-powerful. This deity has weaknesses as well that any Holy Mage can do as well as a Voidal Mage of a high enough caliber. These same weaknesses translate to his followers of Shadow and Oblivion, which makes them susceptible to these kinds of magical power. However, Oblivion Mages do not have the same curse that Zarelek himself has, being dragged into Oblivion itself.

(OOC: I will provide the redlines for this deity and Oblivion Magic whereas Melkor will provide the redlines for Shadow Magic)

    Spoiler

    Deity Redlines:

    - This deity CANNOT possess more than one disciple of either Oblivion or Shadow magic at a time.

    - Zarelek cannot be used in Chronomancy as he does not dabble in the magic of Time.

    - He cannot change others’ identities.

    - Though he has the ability to corrupt soul trees, this ability does not affect soul trees of druids that have a good alignment with the Aspects.

    - This deity can be injured by Holy Magic or Voidal Fire, but cannot die by anything save for old age.

    - He cannot create complex life, such as a Descendant, but the only exception is simple life like animals.

    - He can create Oblivion Rifts that can drag objects into his Realm, but not people. The only exception is those imbued with Oblivion Magic and are protected from it by the Oblivion Sigil. This includes Shadows.

    - He cannot affect those protected by Iblees (Shades, etc.) with his gift of Oblivion Magic.

    - Zarelek cannot kill any halflings or those protected by Oblivion Magic, though he can remove the protection.

    - Magic that Zarelek cannot perform himself cannot be tied to him. This includes Holy Magic and Voidal Magics.

    - He cannot cloak others.

    - Only Astral Magic can be used to enhance spellwork of Oblivion, Shadow, and other magics that the user shall obtain in roleplay.

    - This deity CANNOT be used to obtain information about characters that you do not know in roleplay.

    - Zarelek cannot be killed while within the Realm of Oblivion.

    ~(+)==(+)~

    Amendments

Now, the original lore of Zarelek was left with some holes in it, which was made to allow for adaptability. In this part of the extended lore, I will write some amendments to the deity Zarelek that were left unanswered or need to be fixed.

    1.  Zarelek’s Laws of Shadow are null and void. These tenets were made in place ahead of the full written Shadow Magic lore that Melkor has yet to write and has requested me to remove these tenets so that he can work with the freedom it provides. I will, however, write up another set of tenets with Melkor’s input for this deity.
    2. Shadows (Zarelek’s feeble attempt at creating life) are Oblivion-enhanced creatures that feed off the infinite Oblivion Energy that his Realm provides. These creatures are animals that have been heavily affected by the presence of the Rifts and have grown to obey Zarelek and any of those who are bound to his power.
    3. In the extended lore, I have made mention of Rifts. Rifts are small tears in the mortal realm that delve into the inhospitable Realm of Oblivion and only allow objects, Shadows, or those imbued with Oblivion Magic to enter. All other people are excluded. They also affect the environment and offer new herbs and plants that can either kill or heal people.
    4. Oblivion Magic is both a Creative and Destructive magic. I was talking to Quavinir in voice chat when he asked me about Oblivion Magic and what it is, which made me a little annoyed. However, the criticism was received and I’ll point out what it can do. Oblivion Magic can be used to heal those inflicted with soul damage, physical injury, and mental injury while it can also be used to take away someone’s life completely or even give them a true death. However, this only applies to kinetic Oblivion Energy. Raw, untapped, potential Oblivion Energy can outright kill anyone that is not protected from the magic, making the Realm of Oblivion an instant death (PK kind).
    5. The Realm of Oblivion is desolate with very little true life to exist. The energy that the Realm provides can make any Oblivion Mage truly godlike, but the only true god is Zarelek the Empty Lord within the Realm of Oblivion. Of course, it can be a place to visit if you have the powerful Oblivion enchantments and a Rift to access it. If you do not have protection, you will have to PK your character upon entering. These enchantments last indefinitely while within the Realm of Oblivion and starvation is not possible or thirst. This does not protect you against any injury you may sustain.
    6. While within the Realm of Oblivion, there are some kind of herb that is exceedingly rare to find. This herb has magical properties of healing (crushed) or killing (not crushed) the person who takes it in. This herb can only be applied into drinks and represent the alchemical symbol for Earth. It is called the Herb of Oblivion.
-Redline: This herb can only be found in the Realm of Oblivion and is a lore item. Can only be acquired with a trowel and cleansed by water blessed with holy magic or druidism.
    7. Telepathic communication between Shadows and Zarelek exist as a unique form of Possession where the Shadows are an external form of Zarelek, allowing for Zarelek to receive near-instant communication from his Shadow network, even across the dimensions. This connection cannot be severed, even with his “death.”
    8. Regeneration for an Oblivion Mage is exceedingly difficult to perform, even if they are near-death. It can be forced by the caster themselves to regenerate themselves, but no one can force a regeneration to occur onto another Oblivion Mage save for Zarelek himself. It allows for a loophole in the death rules as they can regenerate on the spot of their deaths before going to the nearest Horcrux without losing thirty minutes of their memory.
Redline: Regeneration is a Tier 5 ability due to how it loops around the death rules. It also takes one Horcrux per Regeneration and cannot refund that Horcrux. Maximum of Regenerations is ten.
    9. Horcruxes (yes like from Harry Potter) are inanimate or animate objects that have a piece of the Mage’s soul within them. These objects can be anything, save for Oblivion-enhanced or Oblivion-enchanted items. However, these items are exceedingly dangerous and nearly indestructible.
Redline: Only ten horcruxes can be made at a time. If a Horcrux is destroyed by magical means (Voidal Fire, etc.), that piece is refunded to the caster to make another Horcrux. However, if the user attempts to Regenerate, the nearest Horcrux is used up and cannot refund the soul piece.
    10. Any magic user of this deity is prone to sickness by digesting Gold or being burned by Tier five voidal fire. No Holy Magic can cleanse the user of the magic of Oblivion or any magic that this deity is tied to. This includes Ascended and other such Holy Magics.
    11. Monk Magic has no effect on those who are tied to this deity.
    12. Zarelek has a deep affinity to teaching those he considers worthy of being taught Oblivion Magic. This excludes Shades, Necromancers, Frost Witches, and Mystics. He allows some Holy Magic users like Clerics and Paladins to be taught, but it would take longer for them to learn the magic. Voidal Magic users are also allowed to be taught magic tied to this deity. No one knows why he has such an affinity.

    Rifts

    image.png.fc318fc5340a72aa739fcaf73623ea1a.png

Rifts are cracks in the fabric of Reality where magic from the Realm of Oblivion seeps through and infects the area around it with Oblivion Energy. These Rifts affect the area surrounding it by killing off the natural flora around it and infect the animals around it with Oblivion Poisoning, a gruesome plague that can only be cured with Oblivion Magic (Tier 3) or with a cleansing ritual by a Holy Mage (Tier 5). These Rifts cannot be closed by any magic other than Oblivion Magic (Tier 4) and they allow travel between the Mortal Realms to the Realm of Oblivion and back again.

  5. Spoiler

Karren Myrsta had lived a peaceful life within the town of Caras Eldar before he ultimately left the Dominion of Malin and ventured to the most southern regions, avoiding raiders and bandits along the road to a small human colony called Austrasia. He arrived to Austrasia, starving to death, when his friend Nenar came through the gates and gave him pieces of bread for him to feed upon and gain his strength back.

He had a charismatic charm to his kind soul as if his soul burned with an intensity that allowed him access to a very special kind of magic that not everyone understands. This kind of magic cannot be taught by anyone or found in a musty old tome full of ancient diagrams and written words of those long past gone, but yet all the people know of it. It allows access to the greatest ideas and allows for innovators of both scientifical and magical origins to create things that no one has ever seen before. To allow for the greatest of heroes to be forged in the coming days of Atlas and even make things come from the parchment to life.

From the smallest halfling to the biggest orc, this magic flows through all people of any origin or culture, unbound by the restrictions of magic and burns within the person's soul without being quenched by the darkness of Dark Magic or being amplified by those of Holy origin. This magic allows for new beginnings, creation of eras in both magical and scientific progression, and can even unify a people determined to live together in harmony.

He never allowed himself to be down when it mattered. Karren had a special kind of heart that meant he could move the stars themselves in order to save his friends. He felt that power surge within him, even as he tried so hard to obtain magic to only never gain magic.

As a young child, Karren was endlessly fascinated by the prospects of innovation and utilizing magical energy to help others than just himself. No matter how hard he tried to gain magic of any kind whether it be Shade, Voidal Evocation, or even Druidism, he never truly wanted that magic for himself. He never craved power just for the sake of power, but he craved power to help others. He didn't wish to cause others harm or let harm befall those he believed or knew were innocent. He wanted to be a role model for the children and to give them that sense of wonder he himself carries. He wanted to push beyond the cultural differences of the magical types and let his own self feel the magic that burned within his soul be his guide to being someone that he knew he could be.

Now, he still hopes to achieve that goal. Even though he is now sixty-one years old, Karren still believes in the magic of Hope.

  6. Congratulations to both @Fireheart and @SeventhCircle for gaining the fabled Administrator rank on Lord of the Craft! I hope to see how well you both do on the Admin Team as I'm sure that the Game Moderator and World Developer teams both can side with me on this by saying that you both will be excellent Admins as you follow the rules and have kept the positive flow of Lord of the Craft flowing for all players to enjoy!

"Never in the world shall it be known. Those who worship the Darkness have lost their resolve and their ability to innovate. Those who have fought against their darkness and help to restore the Light of the world are the innovators, the technicians, the leaders of Tomorrow."

  7. What are the plans for the magic revisions to Lord of the Craft?

Will they have more in-depth lore to them?

Will there be storylines connecting the gods/goddesses of LotC together and revealing them to the people in game?

If there are any plans to loosen the tech lock on this server (preferably to introduce an Age of Innovation), how would it be gone about with the ET and the Lore Team?
^Follow up Question (if the answer is yes): What would the residents of Atlas use as a primary power source for these innovations?

  8. ~(+)=(+)~

The mysterious figure summoned his wand from his cloak, a rigid looking wand with some kind of wooden material not commonly found anywhere in Atlas. It seemed to be stained with some kind of blackness that seemed to spread the power of its wielder whenever it casted its deadly payload. He seemed to smile quite greatly as he felt his presence in the Unseen Realm be known by the many other gods and goddesses as if he felt the curious eyes about him, ever wondering what he was truly.

This did not deter him from using his powers to hide himself even further from the gods and goddesses of Atlas by masking his presence with a unknown magic, at least it would be unknown for now. His eyes began to glow a vibrant purple glow as they turned completely black, indicating that he has begun to cast his spell.

The spell that would hide his presence and his powers from the divine entities so that he may leave the Cloud Temple grounds without being noticed by either mortal or divine.

He spoke a language that could not be discerned by mortals or by the divine as if it was only familiar to him and no other. The Language of Oblivion. This language allowed him to cast his spell to shield his presence from the mortal and divine eyes as he seemed to have plans for the young High Elf who was so desperate to gain magical power that he sought an opportunity he could not pass up to bring his magic to the world of Atlas.

However, this spell would not shield his presence completely. Some manner of creatures or magic users connected to the High Elf's timeline would be able to feel a deep emptiness close to the boy as if the space was occupied by an unseen force. Though no one would be able to see or understand anything, only some wizards of the highest caliber in the field of Holy and Dark Magics who draw close to the boy would seem to hear strange whispers that could not be heard by any other. Voices of those who wish to break free of their chains that bind them. However, any deity that drew close to the boy would hear only one thing crystal clear...

    "The Empty Lord is coming..."

    ~(+)=(+)~

  9. Sometimes you just don't understand.

Sometimes you want to understand something that cannot make sense.

This is what happened to Karren Myrsta one night while doing the calculations for the magic he was desperately trying to crack. His soul yearned for the powers of Magic, which seemed to repel all the divine attention from him, keeping their gifts far from Karren and lending him no aid to the unruly calculations. It seemed all hope for Karren doing these calculations would be dashed...

...Had it not been for one very odd dream he had some time ago.

    ~(+)=(+)~

He slept normally as he did in the small southern city of Austrasia, laying in his own bed within a small tent of his own making. He was exhausted of the day's events and slept hard and then it became odd from the start. He dreamed he was floating in a pit of nothingness, no light or sound. He couldn't see much or less feel. Well, thats would turn out to be a lie once he started to feel something put its eye on him as if it dragged him into this pit of nothingness.

"You wish to make a deal?" Karren would hear in his mind. It sounded male, raspy or rough Karren could not discern. The voice seemed to be quite serious.

Karren thought about it and before he could speak, he heard the voice in his head again. "So you wish for knowledge to crack your mathematics on your magic. I can offer that knowledge, but this comes with a cost you will pay for in the future."

    "What cost?" Karren quickly thought.

"You shall find out. In time." The voice said and before too long, Karren woke up with a beautiful sight of the sun rising.

    ~(+)=(+)~

The mysterious voice stirred up a physical form in Atlas. He, of course, would not be visible to the Descendants or to the creatures yet as he longed for the boy to finish his calculations to which he helped seal the deal in his dreamscape. He offered the boy the knowledge he desperately required, but he had no idea that he had signed away something that he'd come to find out in the future which made the man smile a little. His physical form was always something he preferred the most to look like though he had no real physical form to speak of. The future of the research he had plans for, the man thought, would be destroyed once he completed it with the knowledge he provided him. At least thats what he planned for in reality.

"He has no idea that he is beginning a whole new era of magic. Of Dark Magic." the man smiled as his vocal chords were fully formed once more, walking away from Cloud Temple with an aura of a chilling coldness that rivaled even that of Death itself....

As one of the 'protag syndrome folks' who has been heavily involved in the eventline, has been trying to keep their group motivated to participate in the events, as the only group consistently involved in destroying the soul trees- I resent this frankly rude and dismissive remark.

The Druids have had to exercise a policy whereby there are extreme consequences for anyone who joins September. Many Druids have expressed an inner conflict as to whether they are doing the right thing in fighting September. Upon returning from the battles, we have extensively roleplayed having to attend to injuries, characters who are so exhausted from using their abilities that they become physically ill, among other things.

Edit: One Druid lost her arm and went into a coma for several irl weeks as the result of the battle of San'Kala.

Even outside of the Druids, Farryn's Ascended was so committed to creating ruibrium-infused munitions, that she developed ruibrium poisoning herself. Farryn changed her skin to reflect such symptoms and to my knowledge the character is still suffering.

So before you start making accusations, maybe you ought to clue up.

This remark also extends to myself as well as my character has that mentality synonymous with God Complex and has been in the Virarim for too long as a recruit, resulting in his resignation and subsequent departure of the Dominion of Malin. I helped fight alongside the druids and Elvira during the battle of Okarn'thilln, but even then, my character cannot even begin to compare to the Druids of the Mother Grove and those within the outer circles.

I do share the same feelings as Aethling on this matter as I find that a lot of people have not begun to see the hard work and dedication that the magic community as a whole have done to help fight against the September Prince. This battle, however, should have been September's final battle as he would've been destroyed from fatal injuries that not even Aesopian could've powergamed out of the Prince. Alas, this did not occur.

I sincerely hope that Elvira does recover from the ruibrium poisoning, but as far as I am aware, the people who have died from the Battle of Okarn'thilln will be avenged if the September Prince World Event continues.

  11. 4 hours ago, Narthok said:

I think i've criticized both sides at length. The event is poorly conceived and executed in terms of mechanics, concept, lore base and overall capacity in which one can approach the event as you've stated. As for straw manning the opinions. If you start talking about 'tiers' and 'endgames' and god forbid magic 'builds'. Then you're a reprobate that is treating lotc like an rpg. That is how i feel about the affair.

As for immaturity. One of my biggest criticisms of older generations of staff was the tendency to turn from a human being into a robot upon assuming the blue tag. During my application I was very open about my intention to be blunt and express my opinion on topics. I value transparency and debate with the community and thats how I've tried to conduct myself as a GM.

To be fair, Narthok, I would've been adamant on being honest about my weaknesses and strengths as a Game Moderator from Day 1 of being accepted into the trial phase, had Fireheart accepted my application back in August. The September Prince World Event, at least from my point of view, has been degraded far beyond the talents of the event team present on Lord of the Craft.
In my own ET Actor application, I utilized my own creative ideals to try and push the story along with the magical and technological progression while also trying my best to make events relevant to the lore of LotC. I think that if I was to be accepted into ET, I'd definitely change the game on how the events are played out with the narrative storytelling and completely omit the one shot PK's that Aesopian liked to do during the Battle of Okarn'thilln.

    3 hours ago, Snelfma said:

Then could you perhaps not take away from the original point of this topic? This eventline is bad, all it has done is frustrate people so much they refuse to even acknowledge it. We wouldn't even have this rpg mindset you keep complaining about it if it weren't necessary to smack Aesopian down with his bullshit.

    Refer above.

Druids can commune together to increase the power of their spells by combining their tiers. September is the equivalent of 44 t5 druids in just himself.

You're correct. It's more how rediculously absurd it is. The fact power level is even being discussed leads me to believe we're just waiting for Goku at this point, since September seems to get a rediculous powerboost each warclaim.

To be honest, the amount of magical Energy being used in this recent battle against the Prince was absurd. This includes the one shot PK that happed to Arzota.

    2 minutes ago, GrimReaper98 said:

    "Tier 65-75".

it's a ******* demigod people shouldn't be able to even scratch it let alone blow it up with magic. Especially if your back up is 10 emotes of magical charging between a group.  This should be a hard look towards the magic system and how much of a power creep it unironically encourages.

Aesopian set up a system and its severely flawed, but it's only more flawed because the mentality of "stack Ur magics to kill everything".

Demigods can still be killed, regardless of it having divine protection, but Aesopian over extended such protection by merely shrugging off at least two beams of powerful magical Energy when one hit him and hurting a vital organ. Hell, he should have died and ending the Prince's story right there and then Arzota would not have died due to the one shot PK.

  13. 1 minute ago, The Templar said:

Don't forget how Aesop opened up the entire warclaim with a "tier 220 druidic spell." That's over 40 t5s at once. Do the druids even /have/ that many t5s?

I do not think so. No descendant can go past t5 in any school of magic (except Shade) and this tier of spellwork, I was nearly about to flip out in fury.

  14. 1 minute ago, PosidonX7 said:

This wasn't one mage or creature charging up with 10 emotes. This was 13-15 tier 5 mages/creatures charging up 10 emotes. This means 13-15 mages/creatures at their maximum power. That means it is a Tier 65-75 spell attack.

2 minutes ago, The Templar said:

Without any doubt whatsoever, yeah. We /pierced his lung./ Nevermind that if he hadn't ignored the clerical death ray, he'd have had a /shattered knee/ and been unable to stand up. the eventline should've ended RIGHT THERE!

This is why we need to go to a reasonable doubt type of rp because this **** happens.

  15. 2 hours ago, The Templar said:

Yeah. From what I hear, there were two death rays. The mana laser, and the Clerical Death Ray. He only responded to one. Our death ray required somewhere around 9-10 emotes to fire, and we had to get special permission from Flamb on it to begin with.

    1 hour ago, PosidonX7 said:

Don't forget my huge Godzilla blast from my Zar'kiel that I had charged up twice for 10 emotes each, one of them being focused into the mana laser. The malflame would directly burn away at his soul, being that malflame burns away a being's soul. But that is the only issue I had with the event because not even that seemed to stop his assault on the city.
EDIT: We fired once at full power, and then again at half power.

I don’t mind the idea of a god-entity having the power to wipe out cities. It is just that this entity was programmed to be defeatable and seems to be being treated like an end-boss anime antagonist where their abilities and powers ramp up exponentially anytime they are on the losing track.

I know events can be frantic with large groups but it doesn’t excuse not following the rules the event lead set for themselves. Devise a system that works and works every time.

My main issue is that with all the power the SP had they used a “mana obelisk” to blow up the city. That obelisk had its own event line that could have been RPed out but now it seems like it was always meant to be a kill-switch for the helves. So whoever wrote the lore for that is equally guilty in my eyes.

    14 minutes ago, Vaynth said:

This event seemed fun at first but has become very over the top to the point it's no longer enjoyable for many people participating. The event lead is seemingly breaking lore and disregarding player emotes while stressing extensive in-game consequences. I haven't been involved personally, but I've heard complaints from enough people who have. If there is a reason attacks on the prince have been ineffective thus far, it should at least be explained why.

I have to agree with all of you on your various points. The most common point is that Aesopian's September Prince World Event has gotten too much for the ET to handle and have resorted to breaking server lore time and time again, most notably during the Battle of Okarn'thilln. So many emotes have gone unreplied and I think that if it went down how it was supposed to, the September Prince would have been completely destroyed with all the magic used in the battle as well as the siege weapons.

  16. 39 minutes ago, The Templar said:

Dude. When he ignored the clerical death laser, we were all ready to start ranting. We spent the entire warclaim charging it up with our gimped lightsharing only to.. Have no effect. Whatsoever. All three Paragons, our endgame, were present doing their goddamnedest in sanctified form, risking pretty serious injuries via their unprotected wings. Nada. No effect.

This says nothing about how Aeso has refused to let holies do /anything/ to September or the trees beyond a token 1% damage across three warclaims.

You have got to be kidding me. He literally ignored that?!

That's just cheeky. Even for Aesop.

  17. I know that I am not worth much in my own opinion, but I have to say my two cents on this topic. I was completely furious when Aesopian just 1 shot Arzota into oblivion by the roll done. He should have survived the whole ordeal with the 67 he got but no, Aesopian unfortunately said "nope, he dead." just from the 67 he rolled.

I agree with many of the players here in saying that Aesopian broke the rules concerning Powergaming in this event alone by making the Prince more "healthier" than what is truly going on. Understandable that the Prince is demigod with divine protection stats, but the issue is that he has overextended that protection too much in this event alone just from the attacks. September, I have no issue with OOC'ly normally, but this is one instance where I'm putting my foot down.

As an idea-maker or someone who enjoys the stories made by the people who have the power to do so, I want to say that the whole idea behind the execution of the Battle of Okarn'thilln had been off. Don't get me wrong, I loved the story of the battle and how everyone executed it, but Aesopian had forgotten his own rules on the eventline.

I hope that Aesopian will revise this going forward as I thoroughly enjoy the story of it and wish to see how this storyline ends.

  18. Through unruly rumors and other such things, Karren would hear about Elvira's condition and make for Sutica, wishing to help stop whatever kind of damage had been done to the poor elfess he'd grown fond of as a friend.

"This is no act in itself. My research can wait as my friend needs my help," Karren would say as he whipped out his soulstone and began to shimmer away to Sutica, but not before he'd say "I do not want one of my only true friends to die."
