  1. It's quite sad to see people still behave like this towards bandits. I understand that it isn't always fun to get mugged, but OOC'ly shitting on an entire playerbase because they hurt your pixel persona is quite low.

The behavior displayed by Mr Hanrahan here is quite telling, if anything. It shows perfectly well that there is a divide between certain players and the bandit community, and that some people push for a narrative to have people hating on them as a group. Mind you, if you actually take the time to properly roleplay, keep OOC out of the RP when you are mugged and treat the bandits with respect you'll be given enjoyable roleplay. They just like everyone else are here to enjoy themselves, a stereotype slapped onto them does not help.

@Hanrahan you having been on the server longer than them justifies nothing. You're being a ***** to them and are not only part of the problem they just adressed, but also a problem within the LOTC community as a whole. Act like an adult, and at least allow yourself to engage in civil conversation with people voicing their concerns on the forums.

There have been bad bandits in the past, and there have been bandit encounters and bandit players who I have taken issue with but that does not mean the entire community should be generalised. If anyone actually pays attention to the players themselves, there's been changes in the playerbase itself. I'm not too familiar with most of the bandits, but know some of the players and know that if you provide them good roleplay, you will get the exact same in return.

Don't be an *******, it goes a long way.

  2. Spoiler

It had been no less than a day since the last declaration of a Mali'ker state reached Alyndel. As his nephew showed him the letter the Yl'Asath did not seem to care. Something stood out this time, however. There was something there that he had no expected to see, the blood of IndorenWithin mere moments Alyndel's attention was fully dedicated towards the contents of the missive.

He already had a home, one that we was bound to. That did not mean that there was no room for discourse, however. Alyndel rose from the log he had now grown accustomed to. Around him a town under construction, the lumberjacks of Tor'Celian were working hard to clear the dense canopy. "I'll be seeking them out, surely the descendants of a Forebear could offer us some wisdom."

  3. A cold breeze rolls through Tor'Celian.

Within the dense canopy was a clearing, a clearing in which 5 Mali'ker were seated together. They all shared the same pale eyes and platinum-like hair. A distinct and unique look for the Ashen Folk, no doubt.

The missive, just like it had for the other 'ker fell right into their hands. They each read it, scanning over every detail or hidden meaning between the lines of the letter. A call to unity for their kin, but what would it get them? "What culture is this Sevrel looking to bring to the Ashen Folk? The same spirit worship practiced by the 'ker of the Onyx Sanctum? If anything, this missive differs nothing from the one the self proclaimed Primarch sent out! What if this Sevrel worships the Orcish spirits just like the Jusmia does? The horror!"

Alyndel rose from the log he was seated on, and packed a clean pair of heretic toucher gloves. He set out in the direction of Elvenesse, wondering if his curiousity would pay off.

The second point is intentional, blame World team, they are trying to kill that sort of thing.

The third point is sort of a two point answer

    1. Vortex was on track to be ready to be fully done by map transition, however, because of the admins making it at last minute notice get put into the transition map, it threw everything off track.

    2. Map release was supposed to be the beta test, but because of the map transition it is Alpha testing+ basically.

The fourth point, everyone had months of time to see and discuss vortex, anyone who asked nick got a full video presentation of vortex basically, there was community input, just not from the people who didn't take the initiative to actually try to find out any information in the many months from announcment to now.

The transition map happened 3 days to the supposed map release, you're telling me they were planning to finish the plugin during that 3 day period. What we got on the transition version according to people (and I believe you yourself said so too) was 2 versions ago from the supposed "beta" version. The last minute admin call was stupid and I agree it could have messed up things, but finishing a plugin 3 days before map release makes me believe the assumption things got rushed even more.

For your second point, that still limits it. People were shown a video, but that differs heavily from in person testing on a large scale. Also the fact you had to ask sits wrong with me. Why can't the video be made public then? Not just to the people who ask, so it's easier for people to access since not everyone would have known the video was there or that they could've asked for it.

I hope player feedback is actually taken into account, but whoever decided it was a good idea to release it on 8.0 like this made a poor call. There could have been partial implementations (like on the temp map) to test certain aspects, such as starting with ore nodes. Looking back to last map, alchemy plant nodes were implemented without the alchemy plugin that was supposed to support it. It is perfectly possible to deploy test versions in smaller batches, so that the people who don't want to go through vortex aren't forced to.

Imagine having to grind to build your settlement at the moment.

Warning: I am blunt, I was an alpha tester and therefore have knowledge that you don't have and therefore the information I give you is more correct than people who are spreading their assumptions of what is happening, I don't care to dance around to seem nice and helpful, I fully believe that most peoples reactions to vortex are allieviated with the phrases "it's in alpha idiot", "That's a bug, not a feature", and my personal favorite "No, you are just wrong, that's not how this works at all."

so 2 points here or more idk I'm basically illiterate:

    1. Sham wasn't a tester, he is just a player, a new player at that who has easily navigated the system and finds that people who are having trouble must be arguing in bad faith because if he (once again, a new player) can figure it out, then they can too, they just aren't doing it so that they can whine about it. (however I have argued that since so many people are hilariously crying about him being an alpha tester, he should be made one, cause that would just be really too good)

    2. Vortex isn't neccesary for the regular player, you don't need to do anything in vortex to roleplay. (this doesn't represent the irregular player obviously IE: full fledged nations trying to kit soldiers, and charters trying to build their whole ass settlements)

    3. what do you think is happening right now? Vortex is in alpha right now, you are literally testing it right now.

    4. A professions plug-in has been asked for since basically the removal of nexus.\

    5. The behaviour of players and not staff should not effect your opinion of the plug-in, doing so is pretty much a "You problem" and not a plug-in problem to be blunt

    6. The trial version of Vortex should not have been released on the transition map, it has delayed the actual coding of the full version of Vortex, blame admins.

    1. Glad you actually cleared that up since I wasn't aware. That does not justify him bashing others though.

    2. If its not for regular players they shouldn't have locked everything behind cooldowns. If you're not part of a nation you're potentially crippled in your ability to get certain materials. It punishes players who don't have the time to actively grind materials as simple as cobblestone because there's a cooldown on even tiny nodes.

    3. Why use a new map as the first proper alpha test when you know it will only end in chaos?

    4. Yes but not like this and actually with player input.

    5. It does not, it's moreso an annoyance towards the community and it just

    6. Actually agree there, it was stupid and ruined any rp that was going to be happen there

  6. 3 minutes ago, Professorus said:

Don't do my man Sham bad like that, he tested it to the best of his abilities.

That does not justify the attitude being put up against people being critical of the plugin. We just "don't get" it or we're not smart enough or too lazy to fully utilise the plugin. We can have opinions and we can dislike the plugin, that does not make us any less than the people who tested it.

The issue is that to my knowledge, and please prove me wrong if I am mistaken here there was no large scale public testing. The majority of the playerbase was not represented in the test process and as a result we got something we didn't actually ask for. The backlash this plugin has seen so far would've not been like this if people had a voice in this. The behavior from certain individuals only makes it worse for staff in the end, should keep that in mind too.

  7. The fact there is no guide ready at this point leads me to believe this plugin was rushed to get ready for 8.0. As a result there is next to no player input, and the few people that have tested it are shutting down anyone not agreeing with them.

As an idea I don't mind vortex, I think it has the potential to add quite a lot of flavour to lotc in the form of specialised weapons, armor and various ores. The issue however comes when you get stuck because you need bLaCkSmItHiNg ClOtHeS to make tin. Where do you get the materials for these? Who knows. Hides? Good luck finding those!

Building materials fell victim to this system which is near crippling for new settlements trying to get their build done these coming days.

Why was this guide not ready upon release? Why is the UI so bad, why was there barely any input asked from the majority of the playerbase? Why are there a select few people rallying around the dev responsible for this plugin to **** on any critism? People are willing to give vortex a chance, but in its current state I don't know why it was released.

Some nodes were invisible upon release, you'd think something like that wouldn't happen when you test your finished plugin in advance before releasing your finished product upon your finished server.

    Please fix thank you

yeah, ill be back to pugsy oren then ill get banned so i can never come back

That's pretty sad, you can also not be sad and get a self ban. Maybe that would make you look like less of a **** because then you're not ruining the RP for others out of spite. Let others enjoy what you can not.

Also that's just purely attention seeking so people will go "oh omg you're so cool for pugsying Oren haha nice pugsy funny pugsy video haha"

please stop, get a self ban and spare everyone the headache, mineman attention isn't worth it

The pale eyes of the blood of Velulaei carefully skimmed over the missive. He did not know what to make of it at first...was it ignorance, perhaps heresy in its purest form?

Within the halls of New Magara'lin is where he sat, paper and pen in hand. He wrote a response to the one calling herself Qudlia.

    To  Qudlia Jusmia,

It is not uncommong for our kin to cripple themselves before they find greatness, I've learned that much from my travels throughout Arcas. You claim yourself not to be a leader of the 'ker, yet you will gladly offer yourself false titles with no meaning. You will gladly drag our kin back to the heretic ways of the Orcish spirits, even when it has been proven that has not done our kin any good.

I can't help but wonder what the purpose of this proclamation is. Is this a power fantasy of yours? You have no following, no claims and clearly no knowledge of what our people truly need to push themselves forward. You are worshipping Orcish spirits because you lack any sort of dignity to come up with something that will make you look like a 'ker.

You do not seek to garner your people a piece of land, yet you will gladly invite them over to live on your own piece of land.

You have a moon addled brain at best, and are a hypocrite at worst. You have no place amongst the 'ker, so long as you keep worshipping the green-skinned filth of Krugmar like the lost sheep you are.

The letter did not appear to be signed, but was marked with a Lunar sigil at the bottom of it.

To the lost children of Velulaei

To unite the blood of Renelia

A hooded figure stood on the palace rooftops, his journey had come to an end. He was expecting a warm welcome, a new beginning. His kin were gone, and with them the promise of a safe haven for the ‘ker. He had spent many hours within the city, admiring its intricate stonework as well as the fungal overgrowth that began to take control of the ruins. Pale eyes filled with sorrow gazed over the rooftops of what was once known as Renelia. He did not come here without purpose, he would find his kin no matter what.

He seated himself, against one of the towers, the sign above its entryway reading the tower of Two Princes. A reference to a tale of Dark Elf folklore, or to distant relatives? There was only one way to find out, so the ‘ker retrieved a single piece of parchment from his bag, and began to write a letter.

    To the blood of Renelia,

It pains me to see that our supposed home is left in ruins, as nature slowly takes back what our ancestors took from her. It is my hope I am not the only one left. As much as I am worried, I am also hopeful- we come from a strong line, you don’t need to look far into the past to realize such.

I hope this letter reaches you all, and if it does then please respond. I wish to meet you all, I will be setting up camp within the ruins of Renelia for the time being. Seek me out there or write a response, so that we may discuss the future of our Clan.

Be safe my kin, and may we meet eachother soon.

    Velulaei y nae ilumeh

    Signed,

    Alyndel Velulaei’onn

Please not that this letter is not public and is sent only to currently living Velulaei’onn characters, if you still have one the letter will have been sent to you!

This is part of the start of a new Dark Elf group, stemming forth from the reformation of the old Renelian royal clan, Velulaei’onn. A group of players is being formed, and if you are interested in joining then feel free to send me a message here on the forums, or on discord at qɹɐɯ#9406.
