  1. Oblivious to the world and the death of his mamej, Grigoryi Demitrius was born! The baby Ruthern would face a life of hardships, and would perhaps be blamed for the death of his mother.

It did not matter much, as in true newborn style, the first thing he decided to do was cry!

I believe that's a very surface level and whimsical method of discernment. What metric defines the right mindset for staff on a server that has been stagnating for years with wide disapproval of actions (or inactions) made by staff? If there is one, it must be counterproductive as the community widely disapproves of the scale of the current world, the lack of available interaction between settlements, and much more things that people who supposedly have the 'right' mindset agreed on.

Many people who played before 2018 left the server and never came back due to how hard legitimate RP has been curbed. Many people like myself come on the forums / rant / play for a week then leave not due to some odd characteristic or unstability, but moreso out of hope that the server will at some point actualize its potential, rather than being complacent with its current deterioration and continue to only make changes based off of what evidently very few in the community support. His views on importance are in line with what the community wants. The fact that he is willing to volunteer his time to benefit the server is commendable. By all means, gatekeep, but the reason here just seems arbitrary.

It means I don't think he'll stay, judging by past behavior.

I'm not trying to gatekeep, I'm allowed to give my opinion on a staff application...I specifically stated that I have no doubt in his competencies, but do not think he's fit for staff for reasons I already mentioned.

Just cuz you want him doesn't mean I have to agree..

  3. Although I have no doubt in your building competencies, to me you seem far too unstable for a staff position, drfate. You flip flop between leaving lotc and never coming back, to rejoining and applying for staff once ever few weeks. I feel like you are not reliable enough to be on staff, and do not have the right mindset, as good as your builds may be.

Removing Monk Guidance, changing Application Standards, measuring Tutorial Island's efficacy (25% reduction in first day quitting), restructuring /apply, organizing the bulk of the team into a rotational roster with measurable success (currently one application open at time of posting), the beginnings of the Wiki's front page rehaulanother project to improve the Wandering Soul experience... I meanwould you like us to dance as well?

The above is more than enough to measure with a retention report. I wouldn't dare implement something like the Retention Plugin and muddle the results with everything else we've done. I'm sticking to my guns; we take measurable steps along the way to figure out what does and doesn't work. It's not flashy, it's not pretty, but it gets us there at the end of the day.

As for the plugin's delay? You could have found me at any of the tech's doorsteps attempting to bribe them with delivered pizza. The issue is that techs have long operated on a "put-out-the-closest-fire", and there are some projects that are more immediately pressing. But if you've taken a look at the Staff roster, you'll notice an explosion of recent new techs. There's a bunch of really cool stuff happening behind the scenes, but I can't be the one to spoil that for you. Let's just say that it'll be a much finer start than CT farms.

The first part moved the issue, but did not fully fix it. I'm not here trying to discredit the work you guys have done. I'm simply stating that the retetion numbers improved by a small margin, and while it most likely can be attributed to all the previous measures you mentioned they did not drastically improve things. Instead, the time people quit was moved by a week, basically.

As I said before, the things cteam are improving on are not the only part of the problem, and there are a lot of issues that lie far beyond anything the Cteam can do. The player retention plugin is a project that Kowaman himself was assigned to, and I recall a post being made that there was progress on it. I'm again, not here to discredit anyone, as you guys are putting in the work and I appreciate that. I'm just not fully agreeing with the way the results are being portrayed. I just see a lot of PR for results that mean far less than they are made out to be. They're a start and a start that should be appreciated, but just also one that has a lot of factors to it that you can't easily pin down.

If anything the moment people quit just moved.

The total went up by a few %, but not that much. It's also unclear what caused the increase. I doubt it is relating to the new application standards, but I could be wrong. The player retention plugin is also still well...a mystery? There's no real explanation to the delay and I don't think a lot of dev work is being done to warrant such a setback (from the point of view of a regular player, don't shoot me). I'm glad this update finally went out, but it seems like a lot of PR for the status quo. Not much changed, at least in my eyes. I would like to be proven wrong however.

Retention lies not just with applications and the way new players are guided, but there are issues far beyond anything the cteam can do. Maybe get those usable CT farms @Heero told me a few months ago CT could get. That should also be a nice start.

Anyways, kudos to the Cteam, glad to see an update out from the pink tags.

Duke Reinmar remembers single handedly handling the royal treasury for a good few years before becoming Royal Treasurer. He'd also recall how he was the only one willing to do such at the time as well. He'd then shrug after reading the missive to go back to his work.

Jan Otto Kortrevich wonders when the Silver Krawns are getting restocked.

He sighs, watching his stockpile of un-redeemable silvers grow and grow!

  8. A certain Haesenie Lord wonders why only the Grand Maer of Karosgrad got a spepcial invite, and not the King of Haense. "Huh, seems like they did nie realize the Grand Maer does niet lead the state." He huffed, passing the invititation to one of his cousins.

  9. Maybe you should all stop clowning on a player who tries to make a genuine lore submission and is just not familiar with the formatting and process for doing such.

@VeganNatureQueen I recommend you take a look at previous lore submissions if you need some examples of how these things should be implemented. What also helps, is talking to the story team if you need more direct help. They have a discord for various lore questions, if you need a more direct way to get in contact with them.
