Foreword

The first meeting of the Free Waldenian’s Society took place on the 1st of Owyn’s flame within the manor of House Rhoswald. Called together by the Chairman, Herr Ottomar von Alstreim, the first meeting was dedicated to discussing the matters which had been tasked of the Society during the latest session of the Waldenic Diet.

Motion 1 - The topic of Holy Ser Peter Rovare’s Waldenic ancestry

At the request of the electors of the Waldenic Diet, Lord Ottomar von Alstreim investigated House Rovare’s claim to Waldenic heritage, following Holy Ser Peter Rovare’s petition for recognition at the previous Diet. Upon review, it became clear that no credible evidence links House Rovare to Philip Leopold Hill, the figure Ser Peter identified as their Waldenian ancestor. During this discussion, Margrave Konstantin von Augusten clarified that Hill himself was not Waldenian and that House von Leopold, whose male progenitor was Hill, derives its Waldenian heritage from Hill’s lawful wife, the family’s first matriarch. While it was revealed Ser Peter’s mother bore a Waldenian surname, the Society found it questionable if she possessed Waldenian blood, and agreed that a name alone does not make one a Waldenian, and that House Rovare’s current actions and appearances do not meet with those of the Waldenic kind. With unanimous agreement, the Society concluded that as of its current state, House Rovare should not be recognized as a Waldenic House. Lord Ottomar was tasked with reporting this finding to the Waldenic Diet.

Motion 2 - Developing the Waldenrat

During the first meeting of the Free Waldenian Society, Lord Ottomar von Alstreim introduced the formation of the Waldenrat, the governing council responsible for guiding the Society’s mission, doctrine, membership, and stewardship of its cultural heritage. His Lordship explained that the original intent was for each recognized Waldenian House, regardless of rank or size, to appoint a representative to the Council. This representative could be either the patriarch or another delegate chosen by the house. Many present confirmed their intent to sit, those being the electors of Houses Augusten and Theonus, and Sir Rudolf Barclay, Lord Frederick Stroheim, and Herr Richard von Rhoswald for their respective families. Lord Ottomar closed the discussion by affirming his intent to reach out to other absent Waldenian houses to ensure full representation on the Council.

Conclusion 

The meeting was concluded after the second point of discussion, since most of the attendees had to depart for their duties in the Imperial Guard. The attendees agreed the first meeting to have been a successful one despite its abrupt ending, and affirmed their participation in the many more to come. 

The future points of the topic will include, but are not limited to;

• The revision of the Book of Waldenia
• Examination of the House of Vourkehardt and their current standing within the Waldenic family.
• Establishment of the Hall of Heroes initiative
• Study of the Crown of Waldenia

ESTABLISHED following the second session of the Waldenic Diet in the year of our Lord 2032, the Free Waldenian’s Society was formed as a civic and cultural body tasked with preserving and documenting the legacy of the Waldenian people. Arising from the recognition of fragmentation and erosion of Waldenian heritage, the Society serves as a unifying institution through which all Waldenians, regardless of house, status or region, may work collectively to advance their shared cause.

Mandat

In hopes of achieving a unified state of mankind and the cultural restoration of the Waldenian People, the Society is constituted under sacred and temporal obligation to safeguard the unity, dignity, as well as the future of the Waldenian people within the wider providence of the Holy Imperium. Thus, the Society's mandate is fivefold:

TO ADVANCE human concord beneath the Holy Imperium of Man and its Imperial House of Horen, and to bring about the unity and prosperity of the Waldenic people under their inherent Waldenian Crown;

TO PROMOTE lesser Waldenic houses by preserving their dignity, cultivation of customs, and securing their rightful place within the Waldenian heritage and the Waldenic Diet;

TO STUDY Waldenian history, its causes, consequences, and significance, so that knowledge of the past may guide the future;

TO PRESERVE written and constructed documents, sacred and civic sites, and all artifacts of the Waldenian culture, so that the inheritance of the Waldenian people may be passed on unviolated to future generations;

TO UPHOLD Waldenian honor and moral stature among the Imperium in firm belief of the righteousness of the Vander Code’s unbroken spirit.

Mitgliedschaft

Membership in the Society is open to all of Waldenian blood who pledge themselves to the aims and ideals described in the mandate. No distinction of rank or house shall hinder admittance as long the individual bears loyalty to the Imperium and the Waldenian people and honours their cultural heritage and rights.

Members are bound by duty to uphold Waldenian language, custom, and honour in all their dealings; to contribute by word, deed, or craft to the work of preserving, promoting, and renewing Waldenian influence and unity.

Admission shall be by solemn oath or written declaration, affirming fidelity to the Waldenian cause and the lawful order of the Holy Imperium. Those wishing to join the society or are interested in partaking in its first gathering should pen to Herr Ottomar von Alstreim. [Frymark]

Waldenrat

The governance and direction of the Society shall rest with the Waldenrat, or Waldenian Council, a body composed of elder members, scholars, and stewards of proven standing amongst the Waldenians. The Waldenrat will guide the Society’s efforts and convene in regular sessions to discuss matters of doctrine, membership, and stewardship of resources, records, and relics under the Society’s care.

At the head of the Council sits the Vorsitzender, or the Chairman, elected from among its members by a simple majority vote. The Chairman shall serve as first among equals, bearing the duty of enacting the Council’s resolutions, representing the Society in formal matters, and guarding its integrity and purpose of mission in times of crisis.

In that time, House von Augusten has mourned alongside friends and family alike—and we shall continue to mourn him always. Friedrich was a father, a grandfather, a leader, and a mentor—one whose legacy will not be forgotten. 𝕷𝖔 for by 𝕲𝖔𝖙𝖙’s gutte will, the evils of Calliopeburg are to be ended! By treaty and faithful prayer the Waldenic Diet has found it right to seek after the Holy Pontifical Seat to see the return of the land of Calliopeburg under Waldenic guidance, yet under the direct charge of the Waldenic Diet, this time. In recognition of our unshaken faith of the pious people of Waldenia, it is the most Holy Church that reinstates the dignity of Waldenians by resolving the sins that happened in the Calliopewald, so many years since passed.

As per the intention of the Report of the Incident at Calliopeburg, this treaty is brought to resolve the harm done by the Orenids. We, Vanders und Diet of Waldenics, will be given a parcel of land where we may construct a place of religion and culture, that shall be our own. Where we might bury our martyrs and keep our relics in peace.

ARTICLE I. 

RECOGNITION AND AUTHORITY

ANERKENNUNG UND AUTORITÄT

i. The Waldenian people, through the will of the Waldenic Diet, do recognize and affirm the authority of the seat of Lord Vandalore as the arbiter of Waldenic interest. Where, here, he may act as representative of the Diet, and of its will.

ii. The Waldenic Diet, being the sole, true council of the Waldenians, reaffirms the Holy Mother Church as the one and rightful minister of the true faith among the Waldenians, whose divine wisdom and authority none may dispute. The Diet recognises the Church as the arbiter of the Pontifical States, successor to the Holy Regency.

iii. The Diet recognizes His Holiness, Harrentzedek Ro’eh Tzon I, as Supreme Pontiff of the Holy Mother Church, the true and unique successor of the High Priesthood and liege of the Pontifical States.

ARTICLE II. 

GRANT AND ADMINISTRATION

i. The Pontifical States hereby grants a parcel of land, at former Calliopeburg, that shall be governed and administered by the Waldenic Diet, under the direct leadership of the Lord Vandalore.

ii. The Diet shall have the authority to construct upon this land a place of religious and cultural significance. 

iii. Unlike the prior chantry-fortress, it shall not be for any martial use. Walls of defense shall be limited, it shall be forbidden to manufacture weapons within the walls of the construction and no active, secular levy may be hosted there.

iv. The governance of these lands shall be undertaken with due diligence, by the Waldenic Diet, to ensure its maintenance and protection, so that its sacred charge may be fulfilled in perpetuity.

ARTICLE III. 

VASSALAGE AND RELIGION

i. The Pontifical States grants the ownership of the land, and right of construction, unto the Diet but the lands shall remain under the liege hood and protection of the Pontifical States, Pontifical ministers and The Holy Mother Church.

ii. The Diet shall oversee all concerns related to the site’s administration, whilst allowing full and unrestricted access to all ecclesiastical authorities, to ensure its role as a centre of faith und tradition. Clergy will be able perform their sacred duties freely and without obstruction. 

iii. The site shall be anointed and cleansed of all past evil, consecrated in the name of The Almighty, so that ceremonies of religious significance may be performed, equal to that of other places of holy worship.

iv. The religious and cultural integrity of the land shall be preserved by Diet and Church; there shall be no interference on matters of culture by non-Waldenics, and no interference on matters of religion by secular authorities.

ARTICLE VI. 

EXEMPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES

i. No tithe shall be required from the land, considering the site’s significance to all Waldenians. Any usually required tax or upkeep of the lands will be null and the site shall be exempt from customary levies.

ii. Within the construction, the Diet shall have the unequivocal right to house Waldenian monastics, religious folk, and any demobilised Knights of the Vander. 

iii. The Diet shall maintain the right to appoint custodians, from among its own, to ensure the sanctity and proper function of these lands.

iv. The treaty shall be enforced, in perpetuity, by both parties, unless renegotiation is called for. As the treaty was affirmed by the bequest of the Diet, the Diet will need to pass a motion in majority should they seek to reopen negotiations, to make adjustments.

𝕷𝖔 und behold! - We write here the findings and conclusions of our inquiries into the Incident at Calliopeburg. It has been a haunting matter of dread for all Waldenians, the fall of Aaun and the start of the Holy Regency brought great turmoil to the Franklands and indeed, as each Waldenian looked on in horror, resulted in the collapse of our blessed Chantry of Saint Calliope, Calliopeburg. Those sacred lands of the Calliwald, where Waldenic pilgrims could seek refuge and make prayers for the martyrs and blessed Saints of our kindred folk. It was a great place of peace, unity and religion. Though the Calliwald and the hills besides the Langkettes, where Calliopeburg once stood, now eerily sit bare and without our chantry. 

This is the purpose of investigation and report, the Electors of the Diet demand, and quite rightly, answers for the mystery that unfolded there. We, Lord Vandalore, have sought testimonial and explanation from many folk, and we have endeavoured to answer the many questions we Vanders have had, for so many long years. All we hope is that 𝕲𝖔𝖙𝖙’s justice is served by our hand and with these writings His truth is told.

We also have scribed here our proposed resolutions, we pray that these also will be satisfactory for the Diet and Waldenia.

PROMISES TO THE DIET

Upon the proposal of the vote we, the Lord Vandalore, set certain aims to achieve concerning the Incident at Calliopeburg. Namely, to uncover the truth of the events that transpired, including who had come to destroy the chantry? How did it come to happen in the first place? Who had desecrated the sacred land there? And, what might be done to bring resolution to these transgressions that have transpired?

It was a motion that passed unanimously, as have many motions during this Tenth Diet, but one that should be felt profoundly and once completed should clean the dark stain that has been left from the fall of our blessed Chantry. It is a heart full of rigor that we believe that we, as the Waldenic Diet, were too slow to act in regards to Calliopeburg. Though, as we have come to understand as we have conducted this investigation, this issue is much more complex and multifaceted than first thought. And, as this investigation took place, indeed it became clear that because of time misspent we may never truly discover what took place there. But, this report shares all information that has been gathered, and hopes to conclude what has been such a looming issue.

A meeting was promptly organised so that we might gather the facts from those who may have a far better grasp on the facts on the events that transpired at Calliopeburg. It shall be noted here that the Salvians have not attended the Waldenic Diet for several decades, maybe more than a semi-centenary, however they have been known to hold a long history with our Diet and were said to have held an outpost in the complex of the Chantry of Calliopeburg.

In meeting with Sir Daris we were able to establish a series of events, and he was able to establish a main culprit along with other personal theories and suspicions. We note that Sir Daris does not claim to have directly witnessed the fall of Calliopeburg but passes word along from one of his fellow Salvian ordermen.

As described by the Syndicate Envoys, due to the Waldenic Diet’s failure to properly act to protect the Chantry of Calliopeburg, the blessed fortress fell to the hands of Orenids. Folk who had exploited the weakness of the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun’s fall, and saw opportunity in further insulting Waldenia’s people by bringing destruction to the chantry. During this collapse however the Envoy was able to recover all of the Waldenic holy relics, most notably the blessed remains of Saint Calliope. However, at the cost of this the forces there were overwhelmed and the Orenids destroyed and desecrated the holy place and also captured the Proprietress of the chantry, Lady Katharina von Alstreim.

From speaking with the Electorate of Merryweather-Alstreim, it has become apparent that the Proprietress may still be alive in captivity. This may be a surprise and indeed we have no clear indication where her prison may be, it seems the Orenids have fallen silent over these last few decades, but Waldenians must remain vigilant always. For we may be able to recover her one day.

We might add here, that the Proprietress, as claimed by the Holy Regency, whilst under imprisonment by the Orenids the Envoy spoke of, was able to deliver correspondence to the High Pontiff. Though we will also add that the letter was not signed by the Proprietress’ own hand but rather aides of the chantry. This has been clarified to us so generously by the Electorate of Merryweather-Alstreim.

The note was revealed to us by His Holiness’ Justice Ledicourt Vuiller, but the topic of this letter shall be covered in greater detail in another section of this report.

Upon the conclusion of the meeting the Sir Daris came to share that the Salvian Order would be recalling its men to Salvus, and shared that they had become despondent with the response of the Waldenic Diet, and so had recalled them for this reason. The Syndicate has since been recalled and has severed its treaties with the Waldenic Diet. They shall not be able to properly receive this report, and indeed did not wait to hear it at this third session of the tenth Diet. Though we understand that they were clearly issued with a tight constraint of time before they had to leave, this was the first call they had notified the Waldenic Diet with that firstly, they were aware of the events at Calliopeburg and secondly that they had such a great concern in the matter. We repeat once more, that the Syndicate Envoy has not been sent a representative to the Diet in a long time.

To finish on this section we shall share the personal theories of Sir Daris, some that concern us. The knight stated that he believed there to be a politicking force within the seat of the Holy Regency that had plotted to dismantle the Waldenian peoples that inhabited the Calliwald, Velen and Merryweather. And indeed shared that he believed that the Waldenic Diet should demand retribution for the destruction of Calliopeburg from the Mother Church, because, as he believes, they neglected the sacred rights of our people and allowed the place to be destroyed. This, along with plots to destroy Merryweather, the past lands of the Electorate of Merryweather-Alstreim, and Velen, the past lands of the ex-Electorate of Velen. It was Sir Daris' interpretation that the church wished to appropriate these lands so that they could wield greater authority over them, and have access to their exploitation. And though Sir Daris does not believe the Pontiff to have been directly involved in these plots, he does believe there to be a malevolent force within the institution. We, Lord Vandalore, do not believe this and upon conversations with the church have found that things cannot be so clearly regarded.

As a last effect of this section we shall state that the Envoy has since sent out their Ottomas Resolution which has made severance with the Waldenic Diet, they have ended all connections with our ancient assembly and have speculated that the late Princess Adalfriede and our-self, have shown lack of action on the matter of Calliopeburg, and have accused us of cowardice and self-interest. We rebuttal these claims and recommend our belief that the Salvian Order has been corrupted. We pray this report graces their lands, but unless they return in penance to beg forgiveness for their unfounded claims against Church and this Diet they are no longer welcome to attend us. Their inaction to solve this issue or even bring forward their knowledge has hindered its cause and diluted its evidence. And though they may claim to have mistrusted us, this Diet’s concern over the matter of Calliopeburg has been what has led to proper action, not the inactive Syndicate Envoy.

* We note here, in regards to the condemnation of the Syndicate Envoy. We, as Lord Vandalore, have found it just to retribute the Salvian Order’s declaration with this censure. However, once this report passed by the gutte purview of the Diet the Electorate of Merryweather-Alstreim has made it clear that they cannot agree with this condemnation, due to their close personal ties to the order. We add here the words of the electorate.

THE JUSTICE OF THE HOLY REGENCY

With our preliminary investigations complete it came time to make contact with the Church, and Holy Regency, to conduct interviews in regards to this matter. We, Lord Vandalore, had asked that the Knights of the Vander open contact with the Church and begin investigating the involvement of the Regency and to gather their facts on the events. This came before we felt the need to go on leave for the purpose of pilgrimage and the cleansing of our soul. This became necessary after we had conducted the interview with Sir Daris, for the zeal we hold for the faith was shaken. I worried that the Church’s involvement was a possibility. Though now we remain certain it does not.

Upon our return it was clear that garnering the attention of the Church would be difficult, in obligation to their knightly duties the Vander Knights had not had time to properly conduct interviews with officials of the Mother Church. We rendered our-self to Mont Lemon and after several attempts, were able to come in contact with a Holy Knight. Apart from reaffirming the mysterious fall of Calliopeburg he passed me unto the Justice Ledicort Vuiller, who we were able to quickly call a meeting with.

His Apostolic Excellency had written reports on the events that transpired at Calliopeburg, from the perspective of the Holy Regency’s government, and was able to share them with me. Such as the Pontiff’s response to Proprietress Katharina von Alstreim’s plea:

Of which was never responded to, as far as we are aware. Among other such topics were those concerning the Waldenic lands of Velen and Merryweather, though we remain careful in this section as we hold great respect for our fellow Vanders, as the Sacred Laws dictate we must remain truthful, and so though we may not share such beliefs as those of Justice Vuiller we must share them nonetheless. As described by the Justice, the peerages of Margravate of Velen and Principalities had been left to neglect and indeed, as registered by the Holy Regency, were not paying their due tithes to the Regency, and so had their lands revoked. The Justice also added that Merryweather had raised their own lands to ruin before eviction. We were deeply saddened to hear the fates of our fellow Heartlander Waldenic peers, and not much can be done on the Diet’s part to reclaim these lands, for that work must be done by the Electorates, though we as Lord Vandalore are open to supporting these families, should they so desire to recover these lands.

On the matter of Calliopeburg, the Justice’s understanding of the event was similar to the Holy Knight’s, he had claimed that within a Saint’s Day the chantry had simply vanished. Left for ruin but by an unknown force, maybe Orenids, or mayhaps another. When the Regency had a chance to examine the site they were left unnerved, for left there were markings of insults directed at the Pontiff. It is unknown who left those insults, but they did not notice any desecrations. A very different series of events in comparison to those described by Sir Daris and the Syndicate Envoy. The Justice also shared his belief that the supposed capture of the Proprietress seemed suspicious, and indeed questioned how she was able to deliver letters whilst being entrapped. We make no similar claims, but state what was talked about. The suspicion of the event of the Proprietress’ capture were the beliefs shared to us by the Justice, he, representative of the Holy Mother Church shared this view as it was held by the Holy Regency and Church itself.

Towards the end of the interview we came to discuss the matter of the lands of the Calliwald, their desecration and current ownership. Indeed, we, Lord Vandalore, have come to believe that the best resolution to this matter might be the return of the Calliopeburg lands to the Waldenic Diet, so that it may rebuild and protect the site, in its own right. We believe that should we be afforded the grant of the land and certain privileges to build and uphold this oh so important location the incident of Calliopeburg will not repeat. And so was our plea to the Justice, as Chancellor to the Curia we hoped he would accept our suggestion of resolution. It may not be perfect in the eyes of all, but it is satisfactory and at least is action to rectify what has happened.

The Justice was sympathetic to our cause and agreed to speak with the Pontiff on the matter so that he might confirm that we would be able to go ahead with the matter. Our meeting came to an end and we would convene later on once the Pontiff had made his decision.

We received word but a few Saint’s Days after our meeting with His Apostolic Excellency:

With calls to the Holy See upon Mont Lemon, we did return to discover the news. There we met with the Justice, as we had done before, but was also graced with the Seneschal and Premier of the Holy Regency. Men. There Justice Vuiller confirmed that the Pontifical seat had given his accord on the grant and a treatise should be decided upon for all to sign and to confirm the rights of Church and the Waldenic Diets in the lands of the Calliwald.

We, Lord Vandalore, made suggestions in relation to the Sacred Laws and the privileges afforded to us Vanders, the land must be sacred for Waldenians, a place of peace and religion for our culture. And indeed all were agreed so terms were set out: to grant the portion of land to be administered by the Waldenic Diet, and leadership of the Lord Vandalore, where the Diet may construct a building of religious and cultural significance. Though administered by the Diet the lands will remain under the direct purview of the Holy Regency and the religious building will be sanctified and the Holy Mother Church will have full needed access, should they need it. The lands shall not require a tithe, considering the importance of the site for all Waldenians. Within the construction, the Diet may house monastics, or religious folk and their Knights of the Vander, and should they wish, an outpost for the Syndicate Envoy.

A treaty has been planned to be written by the office of the Lord Vandalore, but we have awaited the vote of the Diet to confirm its wishes to follow after our proposed resolution. Once terms are agreed we shall negotiate more intricate terms, confirm and sign a treaty alongside the pontifical government. We pray that Waldenians shall have the chance to grace those lands once again, and reach it for pilgrimage.

CONCLUSIONS

In regards to this matter, we believe that if this report be passed and my resolution to reappropriate Calliopeburg confirmed, the Waldenic Diet may call this matter put to rest. We call for the Syndicate Envoy to return and right these wrongs, they should be welcomed back, so long as they recognise the wrongs they have done in claiming this Diet and Lord Vandalores, past und present, of being un-Vanderly. All accusations against the Church, remain unfounded, who actually destroyed Calliopeburg remains a mystery but there is much valid evidence to suggest that the Orenids, who once plagued and insulted the previous ninth Diet, are at fault here.

Should Calliopeburg be returned to us, the Waldenic Diet, we shall have the place consecrated once more and we pray to see the place returned to a state of high privilege amongst us Waldenians. If this grant is confirmed by treaty we may trust that our Rights as Vanders and by the Book of Waldenia will be upheld. We must never allow insults and transgression against our own, ever again. Calliopeburg should of never fallen, und we can trust in 𝕲𝖔𝖙𝖙 that our people, Waldenia and this blessed Diet shall forever endure!

We shall also remind all Waldenians that they have an undeniable right, sacred and blessed even, to petition this Diet for protection of their person and to uphold the rights of our culture. Wherever they may reside.

It is with great displeasure that the Syndicate Assembly of Salvian Guilds has determined that the outlander Waldenic Diet has not responded in a satisfactory and timely manner to this Assembly’s request for a definite resolution of the circumstances of the heinous assault upon His Apostolic Majesty’s diplomatic missions in Whitespire and Calliopeburg.

For the last sixteen years, the Salvian Syndicate has relied on the presumed special and brotherly bond between the people of Fausten and the Waldenic lords of Aevos, the protectors of these, to Fausten remote, sites in full diplomatic and customary capacity, in her request that justice for their unwarranted demolition be administered as demanded by the most sacred laws of the blood of Waldenia.

The inability of the Waldenic Diet to fulfill this request to this date, within the tenure of two Lords Vandalore, has rendered the Syndicate’s trust misplaced. This Assembly, in spite of its distance from Aevosian intrigues, has definitively ascertained through its agents that the perpetrators of this crime are fully known to the Diet despite the pretense of ongoing investigation, and that its failure to condemn them and commit to punitive action against them, for reasons of cowardice and self-interest, constitutes a grave dishonor of our bond and an insult to all loyal subjects of the Incorruptible King, a monarch of once-illustrious Waldenic blood.

Furthermore, this Assembly has elected to raise its voice in protection of the Compact of Merryweather, of which it is not a signatory, yet considers itself bound by its statutes through the Waldenian origins of our Monarchy, as has previously been communicated to the Waldenic Diet. This Assembly therefore condemns the inaction of the Diet in regards to the protection of Waldenian domains within the former lands of the Crown of Aaun, in gross violation of the Waldenic Sacred Law and the Compact of Merryweather. 

This Assembly finds that this inaction stems from the same cause as that of our prior grievances, as the perpetrators of these violations are one and the same, and that challenging their deeds is a possibility wholly discarded by the Diet given their perceived military might and certain high positions within the Aegisian See. Until now it has not been known to our people that those of Waldenian stock would so easily discard their beliefs and their core values out of cowardice; that the people who had faced insurmountable odds in the Schism War many centuries ago, and against the full might of the Orenian Empire in the Sinners’ War, would falter so easily and abandon the chiefest commandment of their sacred Vander Code: to never turn their back to a foe.

THEREFORE:

The Syndicate Assembly of Salvian Guilds has voted unanimously to ensure the safeguarding of its rights through decisive action against the perpetrators and the violators of our trust and good will both. However, the Syndicate has maintained diplomatic channels with only one. The decision to sever our ties dating nearly two centuries back is no light endeavor for the Syndicate, no matter how impermanent it might be. It is this Assembly’s sincere hope that the people of the Venerable Canonist Monarchs, Georg and Johanna, and the people of Saint Johann and Venerable Ulrich will call to mind the glorious purpose of honorable existence bestowed upon them by their ancestors, but also remind themselves of the rules and precepts to which their blood binds them unbreakably.

To this purpose, this Assembly hereby informs the outlander Waldenic Diet of the recall of its Envoys, Sir Helsuren Verethi and Sir Daris Verethi Teres, effective forthwith and indefinitely. All Waldenic relics retrieved from the Outlands and which remain in protective Syndicate custody are hereby declared the property of His Apostolic Majesty, and, as such, are appropriated from the Waldenic Diet and its constituents with no right of appeal.

Furthermore, this Assembly has elected to indefinitely suspend Articles III and V of the Reinmar Accords. Effective forthwith, the right of personages of Waldenic heritage, and all those previously accredited by the Waldenic Diet to access the City of Fausten and the domains and territories under administration of the Syndicate is hereby revoked until further notice. Any unlawful breach of the Syndicate’s borders by land or by sea shall be met in full accordance with the Lex Salvia - by lethal force. The following groups and individuals are exempt from this measure:

𝕷𝖔, prayers and peace unto ye Waldenians! — It was with immense sorrow that the news of the sixteenth Lady Vandalore’s passing reached the march lands of Schwyz. We have mourned her dreadful passing, and shall continue to do so, for she was a grand figure in our world of Vanders. She shall sorely be missed and long remembered as notable in Vandalore history, for her contributions and faithful dedication to the Diet, Book of Waldenia and our fellow tribes folk. Mostly put, she shall forever be revered, we pray, and revered to the extent few other Vandalores are. Rest well you, Vander, we shall meet in the Seven Skies!

Now, we bid our brother electors forth to gather, in the name of electing a Lord Vandalore anew, the seventeenth of our sacred Waldenic Diet. We bid you all to attend us at Rikardsburg and put our faith in a new President, one that might live up to the legacy of the late, great Princess von Hexenwald. So come forth ye Waldenians, Princes, Dukes, Margraves, Lords and common yolk; do not let the Vandalore’s chair sit cold and empty, for it is our duty to continue the storied history of the Waldenic peoples. ELECTION OF THE NEXT VANDALORE

A vote for the election of the seventeenth Lord/Lady Vandalore of the Waldenic Diet.

Upon conclusion of the first session of the tenth diet, we invite electors and all Waldenians to continue with the good news of a newly elected Vandalore with celebrations at the Waldenfest. Which shall be hosted at the Festplatz of Rikardsburg, as chosen during the last session of the diet. For unity, new horizons and to celebrate our great Waldenic heritage, not only shall we celebrate the election of a new Lord Vandalore but also remember those Vanders who have passed, who shall be remembered for their great feats from now until the end of time. So we shall gather twice fold, for the good of our people and in 𝕲𝖔𝖙𝖙’s gutte glory.

𝕴tinerary …

I. Prayers and Speeches

To commence the festivities, inline with Augusten tradition, the opening of the festivities shall be done with collective prayers and a chance for all to share thoughts, memories and their own prayers of those that rest in the Seven Skies.

II. Barefisted Brawls

As is often well enjoyed, there shall be a chance for those of rougher inclinations to offer their hands at tossling against their fellow Vander. All in gutte spirits of course! There may even be prizes for the finest of fighters.

III. Lighting of The Bonfire

In the evening, and to mark the opening of the feasting, we will hold a peaceful ceremonial lighting of the bonfire. Both children and adults will carry torches of light to remember our loved ones and shall use them to light a grand pyre. A unifying image, the bonfire shall sit at the heart of the grand feast to come. Some may feel compelled to test their mettle and try at jumping over the flames, without a sinch.

IV. The Grand Feast

After the bonfire is lit, we will come together for a grand feast. This communal meal will feature Waldenian dishes, gutte drink will honour tradition and the memory of those who came before us, by uniting the Waldenians as the people of hosts.

It is the duty of the Vandalore to maintain the records of the Waldenic Diet. Per the Code of Representation, this includes maintaining an accurate and official list of:

This publication serves as an official addendum to the Book of Waldenia, which was first composed by Johann Barclay, the tenth Lord Vandalore, in the late nineteenth century. Many additions have been made to the Book of Waldenia in the last century by diligent Waldenian historians. 

This addendum specifically includes biographies of the twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth Lords and Lady Vandalore, the compositions of the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Waldenic Diets, and a record of motions passed by those Diets.

HISTORISCHE VANDALOREN

The Lord Vandalore is the cultural leader of the Waldenian people, a title which has existed for centuries, although records before the sixteenth century remain scant. From extant documents we know that Nafis Yar was the Lord Vandalore from at least 1524, and it served as a hereditary title until 1686, the year of the first Waldenfest. Convened by Hans Rovin, this meeting of Waldenian lords and patriarchs concluded with the decision that the Lord Vandalore would become an elective position, alongside the Margraviate of Vanderfell.

There are therefore two categories of Vandalore. Historic Vandalores, who held the title before 1686, and Modern Vandalores, who were elected to the position. Biographies for Historic Vandalores can be found in the original Book of Waldenia.

As suggested in the previous section, Vandalores who were elected post-1686 can be considered Modern Vandalores. After the First Waldenic Diet disbanded in 1715 due to the onset of the War of the Two Emperors, another Vandalore was not elected until Ulrich Lothar von Alstreim in 1850; the first of the Modern Vandalores. Biographies for the ninth, tenth, and eleventh Lords and Lady Vandalore can be found in the original Book of Waldenia.

Ottomar von Alstreim was the first non-Elector to be elected as the Lord Vandalore, with all previous Vandalores either inheriting the title or already holding an Electorate. Shortly after his election, his uncle the Prince of Merryweather passed away, leaving no children and naming no successor. A grand council was convened by Calliope Renata von Alstreim, and with the consent of members of the House, Ottomar was chosen as Prince Heinrich Franz’s successor. Thereafter Ottomar was styled as Ottomar II von Alstreim, Prince of Merryweather. In addition to the Principality of Merryweather, he also inherited the Electorate of Merryweather-Alstreim, meaning he had no cause to adopt an Electorate of his own.

Perhaps the most diligent of all Vandalores who had come before him, Ottomar II von Alstreim delivered on many of the promises of previous Vandalores and their respective Diets. This included publishing the Compact of Merryweather, the Affirmation of the Primary Waldenic Symbols of Merit, and protection of the Waldenian Walrus. He also embarked on a pilgrimage to Atheran Salvus in 1900 to venerate the relics of St. Ottomar the Perpetual King.

After twenty five years of service, Ottomar II abdicated from the role of Lord Vandalore in 1919. He remained as the Elector for Merryweather-Alstreim and was awarded a knightly torse for continuing to uphold the Vander Code, even following his abdication. He eventually abdicated his titles as the Prince of Merryweather to his son, Heinrich II, in order to join the Church of the Canon, where he became Pontifical Secretary and Monsignor. 

After a long and prosperous life, Ottomar II passed away in 1948, succumbing to an illness at the age of seventy eight. He was posthumously awarded the Ferrum Cross for outstanding service to the Waldenian culture by the Ninth Waldenic Diet in 1988.

Brandt I Barclay | XIII Lord Vandalore | 1919–1939

Brandt Barclay was knighted as a Knight of St. Tylos while his father, Leon I, was the Duke of Minitz. Brandt became Brandt I Barclay, Duke of Minitz, following his father’s death in 1914, and the Duchy was later raised to the station of a Grand Principality in 1928.

As Lord Vandalore, Brandt I kept minimal records, with some sessions of Diet going completely undocumented and others recorded by his Vice President, Manfred Barclay. Although his recordkeeping left much to be desired, Brandt I was by all accounts a great man and an able warrior. He published the Waldenic Prayer Book in 1942 and later abdicated his titles, joining the Church of the Canon.

Rising up the ranks of the Church, Brandt I eventually became the High Pontiff, taking the pontifical name Caius I. His tenure as High Pontiff was marked by a golden era of peace within the realms of Man, with any conflict directed towards purging all that is dark and evil in this world. It was only after his martyrdom in 1985 that the long-simmering conflict in the Heartlands finally erupted, resulting in the dissolution of the Heartlander Confederation into its constituent parts: the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun and the Kingdom of the Petra.

Caius I, once Brandt I, was posthumously awarded the Black Ferrum Cross by the Ninth Waldenic Diet in 1988 for his acts of valour in life and in death.

Heinrich II von Alstreim | XIV Lord Vandalore | 1939–1952

Heinrich II von Alstreim made several promises following his election in 1939, including reviving the tradition of the Waldenfest and finishing the project of the Vander Knights started by the previous Vandalore. These promises would not come to fruition, though none can say that Heinrich II was not an extraordinarily accomplished man.

King James I of Aaun passed away in 1937 and, with the heir to the throne having tragically perished two years earlier, the throne passed to the king’s grandson, King Edmund II, a boy of four. As the Prince of Merryweather, Heinrich II sat upon a regency council to oversee the affairs of the Kingdom of Aaun. This included signing the Heartlander Accord in 1941 to put an end to conflict that had plagued the Heartlands for many years, and responding to the aftermath of the Whitespire Floods of 1942.

In 1945, Heinrich II became the sole Lord Regent of the Kingdom of Aaun until the young king came of age in 1951, at which point he stepped aside for King Edmund II to rule in his own name. Only a year later, House Stassion rebelled against the Kingdom, storming a Royal Diet meeting and slaughtering King Edmund II and Heinrich II as the Prince of Merryweather. The Lord Vandalore’s sudden and tragic death threw the Waldenic Diet into disarray. It would not reconvene for four years following his death, observing a prolonged mourning period far eclipsing the mourning for any other Vandalore who had died in office.

Johannes von Alstreim | XV Lord Vandalore | 1956–1979

Johannes von Alstreim’s tenure as Lord Vandalore was marked by a series of absences, whether embarking on pilgrimage or travels relating to his duties as the High Commissioner of the Heartlander Confederation. He successfully implemented the Knights of Vander, an initiative first started during the Sixth Waldenic Diet, but the Waldenic Diet was otherwise mostly stagnant.

Such can be expected due to the Aevos Coalition War of 1951–1962, sparked by the capture of Crown Princess Sibyl of Balian (later Queen Sybille I) and the murder of King Edmund II. Electorates of the Eighth Waldenic Diet were Waldenian Houses from the Kingdom of Haense, the Kingdom of Aaun, and the Commonwealth of the Petra, all of which participated in the war under the banners of the Grand Covenant. As such, the Waldenic Diet convened only once during the war to elect Prince Johannes as Lord Vandalore. The session was succinct and shortly brought to a close after only one petition.

Even following the war, Prince Johannes was mostly preoccupied with his duties within the Heartlander Confederation, formed by the unification of the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun and the Kingdom of the Petra in 1973, where he served as the High Commissioner. He abdicated from the position of Vandalore in 1979 but continues to serve as the Elector for Merryweather-Alstreim.
