Volkan was born in 1746 of the current Era, though that was not his birth name. He honestly doesn’t have a strong memory of anything before the incident. He knows that his family were settlers that had been payed to move out to some new land near the Under-Realm of Urguan but far enough away not to violate the treaty set up after the three month war of 1725. In an unfortunate circumstance one of the new redstone machinery being utilized by the dwarves in an attempt to modernize agriculture malfunctioned, rampaging away from the kingdom’s lands and straight toward the land that Volkan’s family had just settled on. Volkan’s family homestead was destroyed before the dwarves could stop the machine. His parents were killed and Volkan was severely wounded. A member of the Irongrinder clan, Mafraedon Irongrinder (McDaedra), feeling great responsibility for the accidental tragedy and not wanting some blasted Umri to try and hold a grudge against his clansmen, begrudgingly took up Volkan’s unconscious body and brought him into his home. Volkan’s destroyed limbs were replaced with Golem limbs and his damaged right eye was augmented with a redstone eyepatch. This was the first time that a procedure like that had been attempted on one so young, and fortunately for Volkan it was a success. Volkan spent his formative years in study under his "adoptive" father's clansmen to become a redstone engineer. He was constantly the center of verbal abuse from the adolescent dwarves, being the only human in the colony. So Volkan did the only thing he could do in response... Smile and laugh with them. Needles to say his sense of humor turned out to be slightly twisted and he often makes fun of his own augmentations. What he does remember of watching the skirmishes between the humans and the dwarves had put a lasting foul taste for violence in his mouth so he goes to great lengths to avoid it. Many times he only found solace in the peace and quiet on the mountain tops with the wolves and dire wolves. Which brings us to present day as Volkan, now a trained junior Redstone engineer, is required to depart the Dwarven kingdom forever now that he has reached adulthood. He may not publicly leverage the clan name Irongrinder and will instead only refer to himself as Volkan Yarred Kadan. Leaving his home in the Under-realm to venture out into Arcas, he hopes to set up a workshop of his own and ply his trade for the greater good of the world as a whole.
