Celia'nor Player Eventline: Academic Troubles #2
Animael posted a topic in Principality of Celia'nor
Player Eventline: Academic Troubles 199SA <The information here is not to be used to Meta (and is only known to those who were present at the event), but rather as a tool for people to better understand the eventline when participating in future events. Some information has been left out to encourage you to interact with others and form your own ic opinions.> Previously in Celia'nor... The Princess, and several of her men- a Diraar and a Templar, met with their tag alongs of Lady Mika and her courted partner Saphielle, a student of the Scholarium and after a conversation with Professor Ribbdiggery, agreed to assist him with his efforts to try and clear his name. With their assistance, the supplies for the expedition were hoisted up and carried off towards the caverns that had been priorly excavated and briefly scouted. Though all was not as it was meant to be, as the Princess led the expedition down, a camp of goblinoid like creatures was encountered. Beset upon from all sides, a life or death struggle took place where the three combatants nimbly protected the head scribe and her soon to be fiance from danger. Wounded but still breathing, the group investigated the camp sight, and a late arrival in the shape of Lord Py'lrie discovered a map that had been crudely stuff amongst the goblinoids possessions, revealing that someone had potentially directed them to this spot. Had students been sent down into the caves as was initially intended, would not a bloodbath have occurred? This information caused the Professors blood to run cold. Or at least, it appeared to bother him tremendously when the information was found... Coming up... The academic year has just begun, following the autumnal festivities and many students of the Scholarium are beginning their studies anew. Learning various majors, from the physiology of fauna, to the application of court etiquette in high society. The Professor continues to try and clear his name, after his attempt at capturing a juvenile Earth Eater failed initially, he must either try again or attempt a new angle to his investigation. Talk has been raised of a competitive new sport named 'Fireball'.- 1 reply

Lady Yera Silveira resolves to bring this matter to the noble court to be discussed.

This is also doable via lesser mutations of Tawkins I believe. You can just do it.

<The following missive is available only to Celia’nor citizens. If you have feedback that can be given, please do so in DM’s!> Scholarium Newsletter Published by the Talyniist Scholarium Edited by Talyniist Scholarium Scribes 11th of the Grand Harvest, 197SA Military New Mordu’lar The new Mordu’lar of Celia’nors esteemed Divadri has been announced as of the early hours of the 10th Grand Harvest. His Royal Highness Illthrak Ibarellan has once more taken up the mantle in a bid to revitalize the Diraar and see to it that its roster is once again bursting at the seems, with each member of Celia’nors military upholding justice and honour within their noble positions. Aneh’wy: Mathi Lensul’em Aneh’why: Yera Silveira Parir: Sylvin Cerusil, Sylvir Cerusil, Aganar Kalgan-Silveira, Adrianus Cerusil. Okar’sohae: Brandy Millwell, Uriella Amethil, Ronan Acaln’sae The Bastion of Celia’nor Prevails: (Click Here For More) The bridge of Celia’nor lay littered with debris from battle. Strewn glass from potions, marks from blasts, burns from flame and water from the melted ice of Frost-Witches. Yet despite all that carnage and destructions, all that debris and mess… There were no bodies of Celians present. There were no innocents or martyrs littering the bridge in pieces. Instead, only the undead, the demonic and the icily imbued caked the environment, decimated at the hands of a united front against these vile creatures in their misguided laughable attempts. The holy men that assisted in fighting off these vile creatures left a note visible for the darkspawn to see should they have dared return under cover of night. “You appear to not match up to the Red Lich’s example. Mine predecessors within the clerics would find it a good-omen for the war against ruin to see you so weak.” Talyiinist Scholarium & Talyiinism https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/239105-the-talyniist-scholarium/ “Given the root power to resist the influence of meddlers is considered to be insight or knowledge, it is viewed that Elvendom is more capable of this endeavor as a grand mission to bring knowledge down from the heavens, and bring it to the mortal world.” World Kaktuz Following the representative of the shaman's speech within the Grand Vault of the Scholarium upon Mount Kaelin, the guildmasters of the Silveira Sect, Ak’vei and Acal’turri all proclaimed their willingness to support and work alongside the Shamans, incorporating their potential benefits into following expeditions and research regarding the World Kaktuz. It has been posited that properties of the Kaktuz or its flowers may prove vital to alchemical advances or healing treatments. Peace within the Scholarium As of this moment in time the Scholariums’ guilds and inner workings are greased and working together smoothly. There are no current conflicts, and only possibilities for further cooperation are currently being discussed. The One Piece A Scholar of the Scholarium had detailed that during their expedition, they managed to gain a foothold within the great hunt happening across Aevos, that is taking place on account of Gashadokuro’s announcement, about his hidden treasures. They have detailed that the largest threat at this point in time, with the biggest head start in the race is the ice demons, inferi and undead. The plan as it stands, in participating in the hunt, is to gather the necromantic artifacts so that they cannot be utilized by the infernal and undead, then destroy them cooperatively with the use of holy magics presented by some of the realms of mundus. To do this, ships are already under construction via the Ak’vei within the Scholarium and a team is being assembled. Loot Contract Mister Throy of the Acal’turri has taken on the duty of creating a standardised ‘loot’ contract to provide adventurers, mercenaries, and other groups of individuals with a fair and easy way of managing who gets what when it comes to discovering artefacts and treasure. Norland Darkspawn Marlon Pell, who’s fate was handled by Numendil after his betrayal of the living; The man selling out a group of knights and magus to the undead and infernal that later went on to kidnap and harass members of the Numenost royalty. Revealed upon former capture that his contacts frequently used Norland's sewers, having alleged that the place was crawling with such beings within its shadows. Whether this holds any ground remains to be seen, however investigation is likely prudent. An additional contact has alleged that a coven of Vampyr makes this location one of their frequent haunts, one of which being an alleged famous author. The Scholarium would like to make it clear that they have no interest in encroaching upon the territory or sovereign dominions of other nations, and highly doubts that Norland has any darkspawn living beneath it that aren't being investigated or dealt with by the proper authorities at this time. Internal Darkspawn Testing Following this new period, internal darkspawn testers have been hereby assigned; Doctor Marrow & Miss Arielle. Their directives within the Scholarium are to test its members to reduce the chance of infiltration via darkspawn, or darkspawn influence. All members of the Scholarium are subject to testing, including Guild Leaders and the Chairman. Chairman of the Scholarium Upon the year 200 SA, a new chairman shall be decided upon to both celebrate the new century and to mark the start of a nomination cycle for the chairman/headmaster position over Kaelin’s joint coalition of guilds that make up its university like structure. The chairman's duties shall be to secure necessary permits from the landowner of Kaelin for construction or renovation projects, as well as securing mina funding. Facilitate cooperation and communication between different guilds within the academic community. Assist in planning lessons or arranging teacher assignments, host regular meetings to discuss school matters and make decisions, contribute to establishing the schools’ overall vision and goals, participate in creating and implementing Scholarium policies with the council, represent the Scholarium in the community and foster positive relationships and performing frequent risk management as they identify and address potential risks to the Scholariums’ operations. The chairman is expected to maintain high ethical standards and act in the best interest of the Scholarium and its students. Members of the Scholarium that are interested in representing it as its Chairman/Headmaster are advised to reach out to their respective guild heads to make their case known. They have until 200 SA’s summit meeting. Lessons The Scholariums’ summit discussed the idea of communal or advertised lessons, suggesting pooling resources and encouraging teachers to share their knowledge with others. Topics ranging from and including first aid, fire starting, fauna or flora lore, practical skills and more. They also proposed the idea of group learning and study experiences alongside expeditions and hunting trips. The collective guild heads agreed to consider these suggestions and explore ways to implement them, with the Diraar being invited along to participate in various lessons and public demonstrations of training as a way to attract new members. The Alchemical guild detailed that they intend on carrying out expeditions for blackpowder acquisition and more in addition to their already planned expeditions involving the World Kaktuz and the ‘One Piece’. Politics There have been few developments in politics. New laws are in the process of being written by her Royal Highness Illyria Ibarellan once more as she returns to the task, with the assistance of Illthrak Ibarellan who has equally taken the position of Mordu’lar once more. There have been rumours of riots or protests taking place in response to allegations made against a specific member of the Diraar who has not been named in this issue to protect their wellbeing and avoid needless slander. Betrayal of Lucius "In the annals of the Holy Blades, few names evoke as much contempt as that of Lucius. Once a trusted brother, a stalwart member of Holy Bladess, in the rank of a New Blood, sworn to uphold the sacred oaths of our Order, Lucius has become a symbol of treachery, a man who chose ambition over honor, and knowledge over loyalty. His betrayal cuts deep, for it is not just the betrayal of his fellow hunters, but of the very principles that bind us together. He fled to a distant land, a nation not our rival in arms but one shrouded in perpetual shadow, overrun by the malevolent force we know as the Darkspawn. These twisted creatures, born of corruption and malice, have long been the enemy of all that is pure and just. The Holy Blades have fought tirelessly to keep their influence at bay, purging the taint wherever it emerges. But this nation, plagued by darkness, has become a refuge for the very evil we seek to destroy. It is here that Lucius has sought asylum, not out of fear, but out of a thirst for power. The High Council of the Holy Blades, in their wisdom, has decreed that Lucius must be brought to justice. This is not merely a mission of retribution, but a dire necessity. Lucius’s betrayal is a wound that must be cauterized before it festers further, and the knowledge he seeks must be kept from falling into the wrong hands. His actions have placed the entire realm at risk, and it falls upon us, his former brothers and sisters, to stop him before he brings about the ruin of all we hold dear. The hunt for Lucius is a grave and dangerous task. He is no ordinary fugitive; he was once one of our own, trained in our ways, privy to our secrets. Now, he walks among the shadows, in a land where the Darkspawn’s taint seeps into the very earth. Lucius, once our brother, now our enemy, your days are numbered. The Holy Blades come for you, and with us, we bring the wrath of your treason. Prepare yourself, for there will be no mercy. The hunt is on, and we will not fail." Lady Elora Amethil went on to pardon Lucius following new information brought to light, however, he remained barred from participating as a member of the Holy Blade within the Talyiinist Faith. "After thorough deliberation and the revelation of new evidence, the Council of Holy Blades has reached a final decision regarding Lucius, formerly a New Blood of our esteemed Order. As many of you are aware, Lucius fled our stronghold and sought refuge in a distant nation plagued by the Darkspawn. Initially, this act was perceived as a grave betrayal—a pursuit of forbidden knowledge that posed a significant threat to our Order and the realm we protect. The Council of Holy Blades decreed that Lucius must be brought to justice, viewing his actions as a severe breach of the sacred oaths he swore to uphold. However, recent investigations have brought to light critical information that has altered our understanding of Lucius’s motivations. In light of these findings, the Council has decided to amend Lucius’s punishment. Rather than pursuing his execution or continued exile as an enemy, we have chosen to strip him of his rank and membership within the Holy Blades. Effective immediately, Lucius is expelled from our Order. He is no longer permitted to bear the uniform of the Holy Blades, and all privileges associated with his former position are hereby revoked. Let this missive serve as a formal notice of the First Hunters' decision. We trust that all members of the Holy Blades will continue to uphold the principles of our Order with unwavering dedication." Misjudged or misguided? A call has gone out towards those who hold the title of cursed. Those that ultimately hold no powers or infernal desires allegedly, but outwardly show the scars of tragedy in the warping of their mortal coils. The writer Ceres Dralguna had the following to say: “To my accursed kin, I write this in search of those of our kind that seek progression. For many years now our very presence has been treated as a bane to these lands. And none can scarcely blame the citizens of this realm for feeling such rooted hatred when so many of our kind actively seek and practice violence and bloodshed in their lands. Such practice should actively be shunned in consideration of how we and our ancestors have suffered to violence. I call upon you to aid me in pushing for change, to find a greater purpose to prove we are compassionate, wise and worthy of respect. We are intelligent and knowledge-seeking people, let us not allow our reputations to be tainted by those who sow injustice in our name. Let us gather, Children of the Curse, to find a greater solidity of community and to settle upon a common cause. Let us reject and shun those of us that seek discord over more abundant, peaceful ways. Let us gather and generate higher goals where we may achieve as a collective power toward acceptance. Should my words strike your interest, send me a bird so that the cogs of progress can begin their melodic whirring once again.” Academic Trouble: Professor Ribbdiggery Professor Ribbdiggery, in giving a lecture to several individuals in the city to highlight the dangers of the Earth Eater and what to do if one were to encounter them in the wild, ventured into the city with a captive Earth Eater. His lesson began with him lecturing on their eating habits, their appearances, weaknesses and how they saw the world even, his expertise in fauna physiology showcased - and in a risk assessed manner he had the children watching throw food into the cage for the creature to consume without any issue. It was at this point however, once the creature had been fed that trouble struck. The ground rumbled, and much to the professors' chagrin, a torrential twenty foot long earth eater erupted and wreaked havoc upon the populace causing a number of small injuries. During the chaos, one of the civilians attempted to break free the smaller earth eater and suffered grievous injuries for the effort. As the brave men and women of Celia’nor came together, a collective effort of polearms, blades and some intelligent usage of the previous lecture managed to bring the great worm down. The Professor was tackled and arrested by the Diraar following suit, and dragged off to the cells whilst pleading his innocence. With the Royarch and a member of the Royal Council taking interest in the situation, Professor Ribbdiggery was released without further incident to remain in house arrest for the foreseeable future until an investigation can take place. "I do not know why the adult Earth Eater appeared, but I can only suspect sabotage. These creatures do not have familial bonds, nor do they feel any kind of kinship with one another. Their only intent is to devour and become larger. That is it. I shall clear my name and resume lectures within the city post haste!" - Professor Ribbdiggery Culture The key beliefs of Celia’nor are not to be ignored. A Celian high elf is very different to that of those that live in the woods or far south. Harbouring individualism certainly they also unite with one another under the following values which stem from the Celian philosophy of: ilMaehr’sa Ilkun’ehya. Knowledge-Seeking: A good Celian must be well educated. This can often mean that they also practice the arcane arts, seeking progress through knowledge and educating their neighbour. They care for the arts just as they do the natural sciences, with astronomy and magic being especially popular amongst the educated elite as both represent the stars. Militarism: One who does not understand the value of the military is often considered a fool who will never rise through the ranks nor gain social prestige. Scars are seen as something of worth, showing one’s endurance and willingness to survive. Monarchy: The Celian nation was founded upon what they deemed a failed democracy which led the High Elves into ruin and stagnation. Sleepily trudging along at best. Hence, elections are something deeply frowned upon, whilst the monarchy of the Ibarellan family is revered. Meritocracy: Those that work hard and behave properly rise. That is the way of Celia’nor. Decency: A proper Celian is well-behaved. They do not scream, fall to alcoholism or overly reveal their skin. They do not run around jumping for hours on end instead of interacting with one another. They address aristocrats as “Lord” or “Lady”. Romantic decency is equally expected, with public kissing being frowned upon. Sullying one’s bloodline by spawning children twice cursed is considered a severe crime additionally. The Willow Maid (Click Here For More) As the sun set gently within Leyu'sil, an idea dawned within the great stage of Celia'nor, marking a new opportunity for those that wished to see their blossoming acting careers bloom. A grand play was thrown, featuring various mali, non-mali and more under the artistic direction of Lady Eir Maor, her royal highness Illyria Ibarellan and Lady Ciradyl Akaln'riv. This script and story was beautifully crafted by Lady Eir Maor herself.

Yera felt gratified as appreciation and innocence was lathered over her for her heroic deeds unbeknownst to her.

An Attack against Celia’nor Published by the Talyniist Scholarium Edited by Talyniist Scholarium Scribes 10th of the Amber Cold, 198SA An Attack against Celia’nor The Conspiracy Caught before the plot could be enacted a cult of frostwitch, inferi and necromancers sought to see the downfall of Celia’nor through political machinations. As a result of a woman presumably of their own rankings coming forwards and providing an anonymous note (in the hopes of gaining riches), the following information was revealed before their plot can reach fruition; in brief, attempting to link councilwoman and noble Lady Yera, with Xionists, Arthur and the Dunwen. Lady Yera has no affiliation with any of these groups and has come forward with uncovered knowledge of this plot ahead of time so that it can be seen for what it actually is before they attempt to spread this misinformation. It should be noted, that the informant detailed that the darkspawn group spreading this misinformation will specifically be targeting the heads of nations and important political figures, and that she hopes the Canonists and neighbouring kingdoms take this threat seriously. Who are they? Attacking and plotting against Celia’nor; A group of frostwitch, inferi and necromancers stationed upon the snow covered island of the north, remnants of the lich king Gashadokuro’s forces. Seeking to spread misinformation and attack political figures in Aevos. The informant, presumably one of their ranks who offered the information in an attempt to get rich, expressed to us what she had come across via letter. “They wish to try and forge a link between Lady Yera, xionists, Arthur and dunwen all together in an attempt to make them seem like they’re all darkspawn and working in the shadows. The overall goal of them is to destabilise the Celianorian government. With the use of a necrotic crystal at some point too.” Whilst not situated in Celia’nor, one of this groups agents allegedly makes their way into various places in order to enact their plans, describes thusly: “A black haired Oyashi-looking elven woman with red eye shadow. She wears a greenish blue cloak with a cream coloured set of garments with faint yellow highlights. Her hair is often in a bun, its colour the same cream greenish blue and red as her clothes and makeup. She also has a small pin of red and white in her hair.” She then informed us that they intend to take proof of the leaders of nations demise and further plot against other nations in a similar manner. One posits that this will be to demoralise and disrupt across the continent. The truth of the matter… Celia’nor holds an aggressive anti-darkspawn policy. Lady Yera subjects herself and others amongst her people to frequent darkspawn tests and searches for grimoires etcetera, and Arthur Burke who she is accused of colluding with was banished by her hand from Celia’nor a decade ago. Her attention is fully on the betterment and enrichment of Celia’nor as a whole, and has no agenda outside of this act at this time. Darkspawn of all kinds are unwelcome here, including Xionists. Remain in your holes.

Player Eventline: Academic Troubles <The information here is not to be used to Meta (and is only known to those who were present at the event), but rather as a tool for people to better understand the eventline when participating in future events. Some information has been left out to encourage you to interact with others and form your own ic opinions.> Previously in Celia'nor... Event 1 - 19th of Sun's Smile, 198SA The Professor, toting his briefcase and a caravan provided to him for a surprisingly low price, dagged his lecture notes and a rare juvenile Earth Eater worm into Celia'nor - of course, after ensuring that the cage itself were double and triple-checked. Thrice over! Giving a lecture to several individuals in the city he highlighted the dangers of the Earth Eater, what to do if one encounters them in public and more. Charismatically talking about them, he eventually had two of the children feed the captive worm. It was, however, at this point that chaos erupted. The children mentioned they found a strange black oil- and that the barrels had been partially cracked open. Tampered? The ground rumbled, and much to the professor's chagrin, a torrential twenty-foot-long earth eater erupted and wreaked havoc upon the populace, causing a number of injuries. During the chaos, one of the civilians attempted to break free the smaller earth eater and suffered grievous injuries for the effort. As the brave men and women of Celia’nor came together, a collective effort of polearms, blades and some intelligent usage of the previous lecture managed to bring the great worm down. Meanwhile, the smaller worm quite viciously tore its way through its releaser without any such gratitude. Accused of negligence, the Professor was attacked and arrested, tied up and violently shaken. Violently shaken a lot. And dragged off to the cells whilst pleading his innocence over the obvious (at least to him) sabotage that had taken place resulting in the series of unfortunate events. With a councillor and even the Royarch getting involved, he narrowly avoided having his tongue cut out, financial destitution and more for the accused negligence crimes he faced. Now, kept in house arrest he must somehow clear his name without leaving the Scholarium and incriminating himself further - and somehow figure out the true criminal behind the disastrous events. Many questions remained. Why was the smaller earth eater released? Who and how did the larger earth eater get attracted into burrowing up through the streets of Celia’nor…? And will Professor Ribbdiggery be cleared of all charges, or further abused by the Diraar? Event 2 - 199SA The Princess, and several of her men- a Diraar and a Templar, met with their tag alongs of Lady Mika and her courted partner Saphielle, a student of the Scholarium and after a conversation with Professor Ribbdiggery, agreed to assist him with his efforts to try and clear his name. A fresh year of students arrive at the academy, and they are assorted into random groups with which to work during their time at the academy. It is explained that when they succeed in their academic and extracurricular activities, they are awarded accolades, much as the Diraar of Celia'nor are awarded for duty above and beyond. These accolades are known as Tilru and are integral to graduation. Naturally, when students step out of line, points can be subtracted by faculty members, and at the end of the accademic decade, those with the most points are subject to honours and rewards - and even grants for projects.

Casting Technique: Void Ecriture Introduction Designed as both a method of teaching magic in a structured fashion, and as a more controlled and standardised method of casting arcane magics utilising the essence of the void, Void Ecriture is a technique that looks and feels a lot like runic magic in a very loose manner. Unlike where a mage might uncontrollably summon their will to project and fling forwards a fireball, a practitioner of Void Ecriture casting instead uses verbal and physical components to increase its efficiency, versatility and safety. Because of the verbal and physical components of this training type, a mage cannot benefit from it should they be missing their limbs and tongue. At least one free hand (or an arcane focus) and the ability to speak is required in order to cast the spell arrays utilised by the mage to bring about their magic upon the mundane plane. This is a purely optional casting technique that grants rigidity and structure to magic whilst providing minor variations to how spells are cast as a result. Redlines To begin learning this style of magic use, the user must be taught a void MA by a teacher with a valid TA, who also has learned the entirety of this training technique from their own teacher. Focus Crystals must be consumed each elven week. Should longer than an elven week go by, then the effects of this casting technique will be non-existent until rectified. Definitions: Backlash - The void mage suffers pain or disorientation enough to disconnect a mage with a void focus. Upon facing backlash, a void mage may face lasting damage for an elven day (you can roll a d20, with a dc of 10). On failing, the mage is assaulted with dissonant whispers. Dissonant Whispers - The void encroaches upon the mage. Their glyphic foundation is strained, its protective abilities frayed as a result. The mage may hear distracting whispers from beyond the veil, dark chaotic ideas and images flickering through their mind. The mental afflictions that the void has imbued unto them may become more exaggerated and shadows may appear to elongate or move around them, as though they've become the target of something incomprehensible. If one is experiencing dissonant whispers, then they are more susceptible to Voidal Horrors and other such heinous things that lurk in the veil, where void meets creation. Tier 1 & Foundation: This stage lasts as long as the magic the teacher is teaching does for Tier 1. Known as the First Circle stage, this stage is where the student is first guided through the process of Imbuing a glyphic foundation upon themselves. Perhaps due to the limited capacity of a descendent soul or body, only five glyphic foundations can be imbued onto any one person at any given time. It is possible to fracture one and imbue another, but with that act, all knowledge of the magic is stripped from ones being, requiring them to relearn it from scratch should they change their minds. The process of Imbuing a Glyphic Foundation is done through the act of meditating by a Voidal Obelisk after fully acquainting ones self with tomes on the magic type that is to form the basis of the foundation. For example, a student seeking to learn fire magic and create a Glyphic Foundation for Fire Evocation would meditate via an Obelisk after reading and studying tomes on Fire Evocation. During the meditation process the student must consume crushed Focus Crystal powder/liquid. Maintaining a connection throughout. The teacher is then required to assist the student in forming the intricate Glyphic Foundation, by helping to guide the mana of the student with their own. Holding hands or otherwise making physical contact, the teacher pushes their mana into the student and wills it to take the shape of the Glyphic pattern, usually on either the chest or forearms. The purpose of this foundation is to provide a protective bedrock for Spell Arrays to be conjured from, minimising corruption and improving efficiency. Upon the completion of this imbuement ritual, the student when connecting to the void will have this Glyphic pattern glow in the colour of their aura upon their skin or hovering slightly away from them as though drawn into the air. Now that the student has reached this point, it is possible for them to begin learning the first circle incantations. These are verbal components that will be recited in almost all spells cast by the mage from this point onwards, with the mage utilising first circle incantations as the foundation of their spells just as the accompanying glyphs suggest. First Circle - Verbal Components: First Circle verbal components are spoken on the first emote of casting a specific spell after connecting. (In the case of a Cast/Connect they're included in the cast emote). Technically speaking, verbal components can be altered to reflect other languages or different variations of similar words. What is important is the casters understanding of the language, or at least what is meant to come about as a result of chanting the incantation. First Circle Spell Array - Physical Components Equally important to casting a spell using this method of casting are the physical components, namely, spell arrays. A spell array is a series of sigils that form one or multiple glyphic circles that modulate to a fine point exactly how much power is being funneled into a spell. More specifically, it modules the maximum mana that can be implemented, and thus the maximum amount of void essence. The first circle spell array equates to the lowest amount of mana that is funneled into a spell. This circle is uniquely useful for practicing magic as it allows students to practice their spells on one another in duels or spars without serious risk of damage. Spells downcast with only a first circle spell array (for example casting a T5 spell with only a single circle spell array), will not have any of their effect meaningfully applied. For example, if the spell causes blinding, then at most it will cause irritation of the eyes. If the spell would cause second degree burns, then at most the spell instead causes reddening of the skin akin to a sunburn, etcetera. A Tier 1 spell naturally has only a First Circle Spell Array, and cannot be downcast. Spells that are downcast to Tier 1 with a First Circle Spell Array use the same amount of mana as a Tier 1. This circle of sigils contributing to the spell array ensures not only that no additional mana is wasted, but also serves to assist in protecting the caster from their own connection to the void to a limited degree. Spell Casting at Tier 1 Second, third and fourth circle verbal components may not yet be learned at this point in time, but fortunately this does not vastly inhibit spell casting. Spells are cast normally utilising what verbal and physical components are required and known, providing the spell stability and efficiency. The mage first must connect to the void, letting their glyphic foundation imbuement be projected either upon their body or slightly away from it. Drawing upon their mana with their will, they must force it to flow through their glyphic foundation before drawing out lines of mana into the shape of the spell array’s circles, depending on their spell of choice. Once the array is complete, void essence is flooded through the glyphic foundation and spell array whilst their incantation guides their intent. The effect of their spell taking place upon reality. Learning a Spell The process for learning a spell is one requiring a keen mind and memory. The practitioner must study the incantation associated with the spell, committing it to memory. They must be capable of pronouncing it perfectly even when faced with distraction. Whilst speaking the incantation, the student must draw out their spell array, mirroring the glyphic foundation that they imbued upon their body first that is associated with the magic type that they are using. For example, the mage when casting an earth spell must draw out the glyphic foundation that they imbued upon themselves for their learning of earth magic, utilising either their hand or an arcane focus. Upon doing so, they must then fill the foundation with an overlay of sigils specific to the intricacies of the spell they wish to cast. The spell array, for a spell that conjures a pebble, would be different but ‘similar’ to a spell that conjures a rock. The mage draws out this spell array with strings of their mana, willed into the world and kept there within their line of sight. Once the array has formed, their connection to the void suffuses the array, moderated by it. The higher the tier of spell, the more circles must be formed (unless downcast to a tier 1 equivalent for training purposes). This means that the student must draw and maintain multiple spell array circles, whilst speaking their incantation to cast their spell - in addition to understanding the mechanics of the spell, how to use it, in what situations it is useful and more. As such, learning magic can be a time consuming and difficult task for all but the most intelligent. Tier 2: This stage lasts as long as the magic the teacher is teaching does for Tier 2. Known as the second circle stage of the Void Ecriture technique, a second glyphic circle is created and overlaid atop the first. Technically speaking, verbal components can be altered to reflect other languages or different variations of similar words. What is important is the casters understanding of the language, or at least what is meant to come about as a result of chanting the incantation. Second Circle - Verbal Components Second Circle verbal components are spoken on the first emote of casting a specific spell after connecting, after the first circle verbal components. (In the case of a Cast/Connect they're included in the cast emote). Second Circle Spell Array - Physical Components A second circle is applied to Tier 2 spells. Spells cannot be downcast to a Second Circle Spell Array. The caster draws out the sigils for a second circle as they cast, using their free hand or an arcane focus. This circle of sigils contributing to the spell array ensures not only that no additional mana is wasted, but also serves to assist in protecting the caster from their own connection to the void to a limited degree. Spell Casting at Tier 2 Third and fourth circle verbal components are not yet learned at this point in time, but fortunately this does not vastly inhibit spell casting. Spells are cast normally utilising what verbal and physical components are required, providing the spell stability and efficiency. Tier 3: This stage lasts as long as the magic the teacher is teaching does for Tier 3. Third Circle - Verbal Components; Third Circle verbal components are spoken on the first emote of casting a specific spell after connecting, after the Second Circle verbal components. (In the case of a Cast/Connect they're included in the cast emote). Technically speaking, verbal components can be altered to reflect other languages or different variations of similar words. What is important is the casters understanding of the language, or at least what is meant to come about as a result of chanting the incantation. Third Circle Spell Array - Physical Components A third circle is applied to Tier 3 spells. Spells cannot be downcast to a Third Circle Spell Array. The caster draws out the sigils for a third circle as they cast, using their free hand or an arcane focus. This circle of sigils contributing to the spell array ensures not only that no additional mana is wasted, but also serves to assist in protecting the caster from their own connection to the void to a limited degree. Spell Casting at Tier 3 Fourth circle verbal components are not yet learned at this point in time, but fortunately this does not vastly inhibit spell casting. Spells are cast normally utilising what verbal and physical components are required and known so far, providing the spell stability and efficiency. Tier 4: This stage lasts as long as the magic the teacher is teaching does for Tier 4. Fourth Circle - Verbal Components; Fourth Circle verbal components are spoken on the final emote of casting a specific spell after connecting. (In the case of a Cast/Connect they're included in the cast emote). This is typically always spoken on the cast emote of a spell unless there is no modifier included. Technically speaking, verbal components can be altered to reflect other languages or different variations of similar words. What is important is the casters understanding of the language, or at least what is meant to come about as a result of chanting the incantation. Fourth Circle Spell Array - Physical Components A fourth circle is applied to Tier 4 spells. Spells cannot be downcast to a Fourth Circle Spell Array. The caster draws out the sigils for a fourth circle as they cast, using their free hand or an arcane focus. This circle of sigils contributing to the spell array ensures not only that no additional mana is wasted, but also serves to assist in protecting the caster from their own connection to the void to a limited degree. Tier 5 Fifth Circle Spell Array - Physical Components A fifth circle is applied to Tier 5 spells. The caster draws out the sigils for a fifth circle as they cast, using their free hand or an arcane focus. This circle of sigils contributing to the spell array ensures not only that no additional mana is wasted, but also serves to assist in protecting the caster from their own connection to the void to a limited degree. Casting In order to cast a spell using this casting technique, the mage must utilise verbal components (incantation), and physical components (spell arrays), in order to compose it.
