  1. ─── ··· ⊰ VOICE OF VIRU: ISSUE I ⊱ ··· ─── [NEW BEGINNINGS] [287SA, 24th of the First Seed] The beautiful new city of Viru has been completed, pending some minor teething pains in the form of the still being carved statues. A wave of new faces, tourism and residences has flooded Viru's streets as many look forwards to the future. The handing over of power, and the titling of Lord Basilio was unfortunately delayed, however, due to the attack of multiple darkspawn associated with the 'Meat Circus'. Intending to taunt the citizens for the death of one of their own, after a prior engagement - The Meat Circus was instead decimated. With three of their own being dismantled in a decisive return strike led by Viru's Guard Captain Darona Navino, Lord Ardeu D'Artagnan and concerned citizens. Following this development, House Mendoza has stepped forwards in order to ensure that the city is safer than ever, ensuring that multiple medicinal kits can be found throughout - in addition to heavy aurum weaponry that may be used to combat the undead menace! ─── ··· ⊰ ⁛ ⊱ ··· ─── [Ruffled Feathers Adventure Guild] [INDEPENDENT COMPANY] Multiple new bounties have been made available upon the board of the Ruffled Feathers guild, from the tracking of the Wyvern that have made themselves a dangerous nuisance across the continent, to the hunting of the Meat Circus, an illusive group of darkspawn that have made themselves prevalent within Idunia as of recent years. The Guild has focused their efforts on starting anew and expanding, as Viru turns over a new leaf of its own. With a far larger guildhall, a memorial wall has been erected to pay respects to the fallen guild members who were lost before their time and gave their lives in service to descendent kind. New members wishing to join should contact Darona Navino. ─── ··· ⊰ ⁛ ⊱ ··· ─── [Viru Apothecary] [SPONSORED BY HOUSE MENDOZA] The Viru Apothecary is currently looking for Apothecary & Nurses who are capable of demonstrating their skills in medicine. Those interested in work are advised to bring their CV around to apply for an interview. For a limited time an apprenticeship program shall be available, where those who have no experience thus far, may apply in order to receive training and/or alchemical tutelage whilst working - Contact Evelyn Index. [SOCIAL] » [SPRING FESTIVAL] The council of Viru invited forth the people of the city to celebrate the season of spring, and such an invitation did not disappoint. Hosted by Lord Basilio Quyllur Pachakutiq himself, the festivities involved a magical display of bardmancy from Mister Mondblume. The day was commemorated and made truly magical, however, by the joining of the count to-be Lord Basilio, and Lady Mediwyn of Tir-Glas upon the dance floor - perhaps the start of a beautiful friendship between Viru and Tir-Glas in days to come. » [BIDDING WAR] The streets of Viru remain unnamed. Not for lack of effort however, but as an opportunity for the citizens and nobility of the new city to bid on and name said streets of their own accord! Proceeds of such shall surely be utilized by the Council of Viru to ensure the continued growth of infrastructure and administration that has been a clear focus in recent days. [LOCAL EVENTS & DEVELOPMENTS] » [BANDITS SIGHTED] A new criminal element has been sighted. The Red Hand gang was interrupted in their attack on the Mendoza estate, in their attempt to capture and ransom the children Juliano, Katarina and Sancho - the heroic arrival of Captain Darona, Aldith Flavius and Carlo Vausifus dispatching and driving off five of the six bandits, as the children themselves fought off and defeated the sixth within the estate. » [NOBLE SUPPORT] House Mendoza has led the way forwards, in support of Lord Basilio and the populace of Viru - ensuring that the apothecary sees an influx of medicinal donations for treating the sick and injured. Lady Melisanda and her two sons were seen entering the apothecary in order to donate blood for transfusions, to ensure the survival of those fighting to hold back the Meat Circus menace! An influx of donations has since been seen, with Ardeu D'Artagnan matching their generosity with a plethora of herbs.
  2. The rumbling utterances of fear or interest could be heard within a tavern. Hushed talks about a dark lord that had been slowly making a name for himself- were interrupted by bragging! Youthful men joking about how they'd easily defeat such a being, and how their fathers had fought in the last war bravely against the legions upon legions of orcs- of course, how much of this was true could be seen in just how many orcs they had needed to fight. Rumours of the dark lord spread nonetheless, and farm hands- and commonfolk, could only wonder what would happen next- hoping it did not reach them.
  3. A few people mutter about which of the three will become the left hand of the lord in question. They were people of ill-repute, most definitely, within the underbelly of a city, drinking within a bar. Eventually one piped up. "It has to be the tactician... No? I mean sure, strength and endurance is great- but the left hand has to lead." The conversation continued, without a true winner being decided amongst the trio.

  6. There were no words to describe his pain. The grief was all consuming. To be happy after witnessing such a thing, how could he ever fulfill such an unfair request? To the very end she had believed herself unworthy. Not enough. Talking as though getting to know her was some great thing, some great favour. Had he done enough? No, he couldn't have- because if he had, why would she still have said such things in her final moments? What could he have done differently to have prevented this? Why couldn't he see what was happening right before his eyes? In this moment, he chose what the last thing would be, that he would ever see. It would be her. The person he had completely and utterly failed, and wished more than anything, would still be alive. Or at least died knowing that despite her curse, she as a person was a blessing. He couldn't see again, not with his eyes. He didn't want to. Those eyes- the last thing they would ever see, would be her. But he needed to see, too, he needed to not be impaired. Because if he couldn't fulfill his duty- wasn't that the same as saying that the shugonate was worthless to him? If the shugonate was worthless, why did she die? Desperation rattled through his body. A mixture of grief- anxiety- hopelessness. What was he now? What would he do? He needed to be able to see, to be useful- to do as she wanted. He needed it- but he also never wanted to see again. Not with his eyes. Never again. He had said that it would heal. That his wound would heal, that he'd likely see again- did he hope for that secretly- that he'd fail his own self imposed punishment?
  7. Wow, this is really cool! Good job on the writing! +1

  12. <A missive only posted within the Veilward for the purposes of those students and teachers that remain> Dear students and faculty, I regret to say that the potential outpost attempt failed miserably. The mages who stepped up in order to guide you where I could not - have been reportedly executed or chased off. Thusly, I cannot in good conscience recommend sticking together. I have been informed that Noragami lost her life during this venture, alongside a handful of others. I hereby recommend full disbandment and to seek lands that you are capable of existing within. Whilst I remain at the Veilward until its ultimate demise. Do not create tears, or otherwise perpetuate the reasons that magi are prosecuted. Just live long happy lives with one another. Ultimately I am unimportant in the grand scheme of things, so please focus upon yourselves when deciding what to do, and think not of anything other than your own survival. Architect

  15. I'd prefer that illusion didn't have a nerf against it in the fashion that it was implemented. Action economy wise, it's already at a disadvantage. Rather than outright making it impossible to disconnect, making it so that low effort emotes that are just mind spikes are incapable of disconnecting instead would be better. With elaborate and creatively written illusions not being punished.

If it really comes down to them needing to give their saplings a hug once a week to not pk and they didn't understand, couldn't we be reasonable and give them a second chance with a small penalty or something? A compromise of some kind?

@ChuuwysObserver on this situation so do not take my word as janny enforcement or admin ruling on why things are enforced as they are currently.

First situation, there were no saplings. This situation, there's saplings but they're being left in a chest and not being touched when there's a redline specifically saying how you keep the sapling alive. In both cases lore is being cherry picked and ignored (intentionally or unintentionally). If this were an incident where they were not touched for a few weeks and this was being debated, those affected would have more of a leg to stand on to argue their position because you're correct in that it doesn't give any specific times or expectations of how often these saplings ought be nurtured. But red lines are not flavor text. They clearly state how they are meant to be kept alive even if they give no specifications on how much they needed to be taken care of. And according to ST admin some of these saplings were not touched since map launch. This is improper handling. A mechanic was brought up to me by another player (I haven't verified through my own search of Tree Lord lore to better understand the situation nor do I exactly agree it should be allowed but allegedly is current) was that these sapling items could've been soulbound by players instead of leaving them in a secret chest to have at least minimal interactions with them instead of zero but still did not. At that point, the redline is being ignored and it took an unfortunate narrative like this for ST to realize this redline was not being abided by. This is something that those participating in this lore should have gotten clarified instead of ignoring. For the more erroneous offenders, they've had more than 20 weeks to do anything fulfilling this part of the lore and did not. I understand my opinions on the issue may come off as cold and bot and I don't wish any negativity on those affected by the situation but this situation could've been avoided or been less impactful as it has been had lore been followed on the player end.

@AnimaelThat'd be up to our admin and ET management to fulfill, I can only give my input on the lore side. However I believe a resolution like this would not be very fair to other magic groups or player groups in general that have mass PKed and would set a bad precedent of ST having the power to decide who has the chance to reverse their PK clauses they agreed to and those who can't although I do appreciate the kindness you're exhibiting to those you have minimal to no ties with. Best middle ground I'd come up with if it were desperately needed is a lore injection of Tree Lord after amendments are made that would clear up misconceptions and set 2026 standard expectations on this half a decade old lore write. Currently though I don't know if a lore injection is really needed after this incident yet.

the redline saying how doesn't really say "how" past "druidic energies", there's no specificity on how to take care of it past that so people just apparently carry it, regardless if there's any supposed self-rp with the sapling or not. ive joked about it but this has basically boiled down to saying "yeah i give it a kiss and a gogurt and put it back in the box, job done." which, to me, is stupid. plus, again, we're not really sure just how far past the 30 day mark the saplings were. if the saplings were within the 30 day window when the OOC freeze went up, and then were only over afterwards despite the fact it technically would have been in the same time-frame IRP, shouldn't the saplings still be alive? shouldn't a player have been allowed to go in and logically go get them, which i know for a fact is exactly what taters' character would have ensured?

this was kind of fooldudes argument in a sense, there was an OOC rule that made it so the event concluded an IRL week later, but the event was technically meant to occur IRPly within the same "day", thats the entire justification for why there was a freeze and no new rallies against the raid to begin with. if we couldnt counter rally because it was all in the same day, why should they be punished for the saplings AFTER the freeze went down if they might have legally been alive within the time they were unable to interact?

to add to this, taters seemed pretty sure that the saplings were okay where they were, which implies to me that between an old bad faith event that shouldnt have been allowed, to now a good faith one where the saplings were available but IRPly couldnt be interacted with because of a freeze, then that to me reads less like a failure on the player who didnt know and was never informed but also partially on whatever precedent players have set on a subject thats never properly set into stone. this is a "if you dont know to ask, how are you meant to know" thing imo, and like animael said, should have resulted in a warning rather than a mass PK. if its meant to be soooo obvious, and yet apparently wasnt, then theres a flaw somewhere.

  19. VEILWARD: SOCIETY & LINEAGE THE ARCANE AND ALCHEMICAL SOCIETY OF THE VEILWARD follows a unique structure based on hierarchy from accumulated knowledge, prestige, intent and power. Determining the path of a mage can be an arduous thing, a journey marked by numerous stages and stops along the way. There are numerous formal ranks amongst Magi and Alchemists alike, the most powerful of Magi incorporating these individuals together under one banner, employing them into their service as a retinue or working alongside them as peers upon projects for the betterment of Magus society as a whole, or the mundane societies that toil the farms and fields around them, unaware of the threats they are protected from, and unwittingly benefitting from the technological advancements that their neighbours bestow upon them. ☆。*。☆。────── ☾ ────── 。☆。*。☆ ☆。*。☆。────── ☾ ────── 。☆。*。☆ Magical Lineages Very similar to the aristocracy of the mundane realms, but equally filled with differences, mages are of different calibre to one another. There are many different kinds of Magus, from Hedge wizards to court magi - Spellblades, to charismatic leaders of Arcane ritualists. Beyond this, however, is the lineage of those that have imparted their knowledge and style upon the mage. The ancient lineages of arcane or alchemical study, of people who have arrived to better themselves and their knowledge over centuries. Perhaps more important than one's ability to fight or even individual intelligence is one's loyalties, conviction and lineage. Not lineage by blood, but that of tutelage. To join a powerful mage lineage is no simple thing, and a wise master will not accept just anybody into their lineage to use their name. Upon the acceptance of a student, master or otherwise into one's mage lineage, they are to take the lineage name as their second/middle name, a sign of respect and of remembrance. Alongside potential political benefits that may come with the acceptance of a lineage, or indeed enemies. Burdens and responsibilities are also that which spring forth, along with ancient knowledge passed down. Hidden sect secrets that can only remain within one's lineage. Grand spellforges, recipes and hidden knowledge. The acceptance of an individual into one's lineage must be reported by a Master of the lineage to the council of Masters, such that it can be recorded properly. Those of a particular lineage are equivalent to that of low nobility within the Arcane society. Those who make known their lineage and use it to their advantage may reap the benefits of such. Whether that be through land acquisition, the ability to obtain greater knowledge, perks or assets. Lineages themselves are not made equal. Beyond having different focuses and specialties, there are ranks to one's lineage. Decided upon by the Sages as opposed to the council of Masters. Due to the potentially political nature of this, the decision to elevate or lower the status of a Lineage can be vetoed by either the council of Masters, or the Custodians. ☆。*。☆。────── ☾ ────── 。☆。*。☆ ☆。*。☆。────── ☾ ────── 。☆。*。☆ MANY UNMEASURABLE QUALITIES MAKE UP ONE'S POWERBASE, from one's knowledge across a broad span of subjects, to one's focus upon a specialization. Their time spent researching and writing out thesis after thesis, to their time spent honing their skills for battle. One's position in Arcane and Alchemical society is often based on many factors, their status determined primarily by how much they know and have accomplished, paired with how much they contribute in the present day. Afterall, a stagnant mage that does little anymore, is not as valuable as one that frequently weaves the narrative forwards, telling the tale of their existence or helping others in their own stories. Mundane || 'Sanfi' A MUNDANE is that which has no magic or alchemical knowledge to speak of. They are to be treated kindly, for most if not all were once such, but not all escape the bounds of mundanity. Farmers, clerks, guards. There can be exceptional mundanes, but they are the exception, not the rule. A magus and alchemist would however be wise to remember that in large numbers and armour, even mundanes can inflict terrible devastation upon them.|| A SANFI, is a term taken from the long deceased kingdom of Hohkmat, one of the few to survive. Sanfi consist of contracted personnel who work for a mage and have no intent on ever becoming one. From caravan guard mercenaries, merchants to smugglers. Mercenaries especially are fairly valued, for mundanes, protecting mages during periods of magical exhaustion or during complicated rituals. Whilst at the lowest rank, if they are beholden to a Magus or Alchemist of significantly higher rank in society, they draw authority from that position, placing the mundane's authority over higher ranked members than themselves. Novice || Exotic's 1-3 Disciplines in practice [T1+] [Or] Studying Basic Alchemy A NOVICE is that which has only just begun learning the Arcane, Alchemy or another mana based study such as housemagic. This is the lowest rung of society, but still leagues above that of a mundane.|| AN EXOTIC is any number of exotic creature, generally within the retinue of a magus. Whether that is a rare Yisar, a living doll, a Jing Bonded creature, construct or automaton. Their general status is recognized and protected in the court of law. Though, their status within society will likely never rise higher than this point. Intermediate || Familiar's At least 1 Discipline at expert-master level [T4+] [Or] Studying Intermediate Alchemy AN INTERMEDIATE is that which has studied the Arcane or Alchemy as a whole for several years. They are what most would consider to be a mage in their base form. Still very much learning and with room to grow, they are decidedly higher in status than that of a novice if only for the simple fact that they have dedicated more of their time to learning, and have proven themselves to some degree.|| A FAMILIAR is any non-descendant creature born largely of Mana, Arcane based creation or Alchemical creation that has become bound to another Mage or Alchemist who is partially responsible for them. Their status is immediately equivalent to an Intermediate, providing them all the privileges this entails. Adept Selected a Voidal Feat [Eminence, Voidstalking, Artificery, Scion] [Or] Studying Advanced Alchemy AN ADEPT is one who has specialized, having mastered or begun to master at least three arcane pursuits, and or has begun to learn advanced Alchemy. Expert Mastered at least 3 Disciplines [T5] [Or] Mastered Advanced Alchemy and multiple rare recipes. AN EXPERT is often a master of their craft, whether that be arcane or alchemical in nature. They are typically considered to be a Master in all but name. The only way for them to progress higher than as they are now, is to be elected a Master by the Council of Masters who assess Experts on their various feats and knowledgeable pursuits. Master (Arcane) & Maester (Alchemy) Mastered at least 5 Disciplines [T5, 5 slots filled Voidal] [Or] Mastered Alchemy and at least one alchemical specialization. To be considered a master, one must be appointed the title on reaching a consensus from the Council of Masters. A council composed of Masters, Maesters, Sages and Archmagus of the Arcane. A member of the Mage or Alchemists lineage must vouch for the appointing of the mage or alchemist in question. If the individual is not a member of a lineage, then it is impossible to become a Master or Maester unless everyone on the council unanimously agrees that the hedge mage or hedge alchemist be appointed the honour. Special exceptions can be made as a result of exceptional contributions, research, successful projects and more. A MASTER OR MAESTER, when elected to become one, is appointed to the Council of Masters, whereupon they oversee the transition of future Masters from the Expert status below, judging them of their values, knowledge, power and contributions. ─── Additional Ranks/Titles Hedge Mage A mage without a lineage. Usually poorly funded or with holes in their knowledge. It is rare for a Hedge Mage to be on the same level as their peers, and they are often looked down upon. That is to say, that a Hedge Mage Expert, would be seen as far lower in capabilities or status than an Expert who is part of a Lineage. Hedge Alchemist An alchemist without a lineage. Usually poorly funded or with holes in their knowledge. It is rare for a Hedge Alchemist to be on the same level as their peers, and they are often looked down upon. That is to say that a Hedge Alchemist Expert would be seen as far lower in capabilities or status than an Expert who is part of a Lineage. Sage Contributed something new to magic in the form of an artifact/spellforge, or invented a new discipline or creation. Equally, one can become a Sage simply by declaring their intentions and not being challenged by the Council of Masters, provided that they also detail what it is that they are Sage of and have a solid reasoning for why they are at the pinnacle of what it is that they study. Archmage (Arcane) / Archemist (Alchemy) An Archmage/Archemist is one that has been a Master/Maester for a very long time. They have been widely recognized by a large portion of society and are considered to be competent in what they do. To become one is an enigmatic thing, one either is or isn't, and much of it depends on how they are viewed by their peers. There are no strict requirements, other than to become a Master. And whilst one may call themselves an Archmage out of ego, what truly matters is if others see them as such. Praetor Misc. titles - Mostly for competition. The Praetor of Battle, say, would be changed if they are bested in a duel, and the Praetor of Architecture may lose their title if another out-builds them. Awarding such titles is up to the Council of Masters.
  20. The Architect tinkered away within her workshop, looking up from her work as one of the Custodians brought forth the missive. Her Akashic records flickered to life, displayed by the system that wrought itself in eldritch ecriture upon her soul. Her gaze flicking over past contact points between descendants and the Mori. Eventually she wrote a brief request to do business or establish relations, via her atronach on behalf of the Veilward ((Mage Group)), with a note that she had previously been a part of a group that had assisted the Mori in question with her bid for revenge.

    The Veilward

<A lesser enchanted missive that when touched rearranges the ink upon it to display the following information. This missive is not posted within the Empire's Capital.> Magic is essence. It's energy, and potential. It runs through each of us, even if we don't have the ability to directly manipulate it into balls of fire or crazy artificed inventions. It is not just a cliche comment to say that it's the friendship between two beings. It is the composition of a mastercraft a carpenter spends his life carving. It's love, order, chaos and fear. It's the hope felt as allies gather to protect one another from a greater threat. The potential for what magic can become is endless, and just like any evocation it is shaped by the will of the mage and their imagination. It's shaped by their creativity and ingenious applications. It's shaped by you. It is time to abandon the cycle of hatred, of prejudice, of infighting and pining for power and status just to be seen as more powerful than other beings. Instead of bullying the weak, it's time for us to protect them from others that would do so. To learn from them, to better ourselves constantly and in turn better others. The Monolith of the Veilward now stands as a sanctuary for the Arcane. Those with a desire to challenge the dungeon below, and to become fledgling mages and alchemists. LOCATION: HORDE MAGE TOWER COORD: -356 97 1811 DISCORD: https://discord.gg/nddbSfY4ys "I have no interest in politics, infighting, grudges or otherwise. I just want to create a safe world, filled with food, clean drinking water, warm hearths, modern conveniences- protection against evil, and a precedent towards common decency. I want us to be ready for the next threat that will come for the lives of every single dependent, instead of scrambling as we have done cycle after cycle." "To all communities, court mages and magical advisors of the Arcane; I request that you reach out, such that we can form magic between ourselves - Relationships that bury the grudges of the past, that support one another in academic research, that create worldwide definitions and terms, that concoct projects that protect safeguard and help mundane lives." "It is my fervent wish that practitioners of the Arcane meet and speak. Present their ideas to one another. Show off what they have done to help their local communities, and have somewhere they can ask for help. I offer my sanctuary as the first meeting location for this meeting of Great minds." - Architect

  25. The Architect knew not the words spoken by the Prince. But she did know his temperament. His word that he would come for her if she did what she did. She was not a fighter like her predecessor. She wasn't fighting for a noble cause. Though she had spoken to Princess Livia, who now lived in hiding, but she had convinced herself she did that to save herself from her own guilt. She had healed many since leaving the Empire, replacing the limbs of those who had lost them in the war- their eyes, curing them of wounds with magic that she was not previously allowed to utilize under the uncaring eye of the Empire. 'The Prince will hunt me, and that is okay.' She muttered to herself. It was okay that his blade sought her neck. Because she knew two things... The first; she believed she deserved it, for not being wiser, for not choosing a hidden better option... And the second...? 'I have no issue being a coward. Lanre didn't.' @sam33497
