  1. Things to work on: Your definition of powergaming and metagaming were outright incorrect. Your definition of roleplaying is not specific enough on what it is. Your biography is overall, too short and vague. Please re-apply in 48 hours.
  2. You will be whitelisted shortly. Your character actually interests me....perhaps I'll send a bird to you in game sometime.
  3. This is one of the most painful decisions I've had to make as a member of the application team... I really wanted to accept this, and there's really only one thing wrong with it. Please fill out the question about Metagaming and Powergaming again, this time in greater regard to how it relates to the minecraft server itself and how it can be used to gain an unfair edge. Please re-apply in 48 hours
  4. Enjoy! You will be whitelisted shortly.
  5. Please edit this so the questions are there and I will review it again.
  6. It was pretty tough denying this, but the biography is lacking. Remember, you're not writing your biography from your characters standpoint; so you can tell me a lot more about him even though he has amnesia. Please re-apply in 48 hours.
  7. But please take the iron elf thing out of your bio, we are very strict about players creating their own lore.
  8. Could we just get an official statement on what the order of business will be in regards to keeping items, skills, money?
  9. Your in character section is very lacking in information. -Bio is too short -Ambition is too vague -Unrealistic in game name -Wrong application format -Scenarios answers are too short and unimaginative Please re-apply in two days time.
  10. You did not properly define powergaming or metagaming. Please re-apply in two days time.
  11. To be honest as someone who was once a high ranking member in the Nical, many of the members were quite young without proper knowledge on how to rolelpay. HOWEVER! As I have seen, reforms have been made, the Nical are gaining some purpose, the immature members have been exiled, and Caleb does actually have a lot of leadership capability. Hope this turns out better then the first time around. +1
  12. Welcome! You will be promoted in game shortly. I am actually very intrigued by your application, it's very heart warming to read that your family is brought closer together by this game! If your husband has not been accepted yet, please send me a private message and I will take a look. I hope you have a great time on our server!
  13. Two things I have a problem with: The Meta gaming question specifically asks for a definition in YOUR OWN words. Your response comes straight off Wikipedia. Your biography doesn't really tell me a lot about how your character acts around others and his personality in general. Also, the link to your skin doesn't work. Please re-apply in 48 hours.
  14. Things to work on: Your explanation of roleplaying is unclear and hard to understand. Your biography is acceptable enough, but some parts do not make much sense and need clarification; i.e, "Growing up near the blade" ( I don't know what that means) Although not essential, it would be nice if the ambition of your character was more thought out and explained. I do appreciate inclusion of lore. :) Please re-apply again in 48 hours.
  15. DENIED Expand your answer on what you think roleplaying is. Please change your skin and take a screenshot before making an application. Your biography could use some rewording and extra thought. You're using the wrong application form. Use this one. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/1035-official-lord-of-the-craft-application-form/
  16. I suppose they expect to get in just because they were at minecon
  17. As someone with 0 skills in everything, I'm fine with this. In fact it adds a whole lot more depth in things like professions and as a whole would add to the immersion
  18. So is there actually a plugin to see who voted the most?
  19. As the title states, buying very small, cheap plots along Kings Road.
  20. Me too lol, read a really awesome one yesterday. Made me tingle :D
  21. ------------------------------------------------ Minecraft Name: Coastercam0 Forum Name: Coaster (This list is not in order) ------------------------------------------------ [1] – Grammar and Coherence Now, I understand that many of our best roleplayers use English as a second language, or do not have the firmest grasp of it. However, should someone like this apply for said server, they should know of their tendency to say, make grammatical errors, and proofread their application multiple times before submitting it. Not to say I would ever deny an app for the simple reason of a missing punctuation mark, but if it's obvious that someone wrote the application and clearly did not bother looking over it for mistakes, I would most likely think twice. This plays into the second part of this listed point. Inconsistent content means that an applicant did not really think through what they were writing, instead were "winging it". This should be a simple thing to catch and correct, unless someone doesn't double check their application; referring to my first point. Grammar is the most notable thing about an application, and as such it should make a good impression and show evidence of a real attempt. i.e, "i liek roelplaysz" is a no no. [2] - Effort in Answering Short Answer Questions Not saying that all one work answers are bad or incorrect, but in the case of the server application format, every answer should be at least one sentence long. It's almost like science class, where they made you not only write the answer to something, but why that is, and what it means. Even the answer to a simple question like, "Can your character wield a sword?" should be carefully thought out and crafted. Not, "Yes" or "No" but "My character is not skilled in swordsmanship because, (yadda yadda) he prefers (yadda yadda), this means he (yadda yadda)" Not an essay, but something that tells me more about how your character acts. Because let's be honest, why would that question be on there in the first place? I don't think it was made to see what level of swordsmanship people were, more of, how will someone approach this question? ------------------------------------------------ [3] - Knowledge of Lore No, not just "Yes I know the four races" ,I mean actual knowledge. To think that people would carefully analyze every post on the forums as to incorporate every bit of lore imaginable, or to memorize the wiki articles is ridiculous, but even a small bit of lore put into an app would change my perspective a bit. Such as the acknowledgement of a recent event, or the use of an existing nation into your bio. In my app, I put into a very small bit about the Oren Guard and Al'Khazar, and I don't think that this is what got me accepted, but I still think it helped. Although by no means the most important aspect of an application, to me it is still something that should be taken more seriously. In fact it would help new players prepare; instead of being completely lost when joining a server, they would know, "Oh, my hometown in Al'Khazar, I should head there and try to be a guard." ------------------------------------------------ [4] - What do you know about Roleplaying? What is it? I know this is on every single app on the thread, but it is for good reason. Although a short answer question, what someone posts here will make or break there chances in many cases. Posting a generic dictionary definition will not get you in on my books. In most situations, if someone is even on this website, applying, they probably have an idea what roleplaying is. Then again, so does pretty much everybody. Simply put, it should answer the question. Not what other games you have roleplayed in (which is a mistake I made), but what roleplaying (in your mind) entails, and what someone has to do to go about roleplaying properly. ------------------------------------------------ [5] - Character Biography and realism A lot of what I expect is expressed in the excellent topic, "How to avoid making a Gary/Mary Stu" http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/27643-how-to-avoid-making-a-mary-suegary-stu/ To be honest there are already enough Master swordsman, magician, viking, lumberjack, actor, healer, glowey eye people in Aegis. They would have to have a pretty amazing application for me to accept them if it's like that. Their character biography should be reasonable and original. I won't go into to much detail about what I mean, but just like in the real world, everyone is different. All the characters should have a different past, personality, motive, because no one is the same. Not asking people to look at every single application before theirs and cross reference for similarities, but it should stand out at least somewhat. Remember, it's real people reading the apps, make it interesting.
