  1. (It would appear at some point that Halbeck had returned to his original submission and edited it, as now large sections were crossed off.) Name: Halbeck. Race(Ye must be a halfling to run for Sheriff or Deputy): Halfling. What do ye run as? (You cannot run for both Sheriff and Deputy!): Sheriff, since there's only one other applicant. What will you do if you are elected?: Whip the Shire into shape. The incident that happened shouldn't have happened. Should have caught the bastard, and no one should have gotten hurt. It's about time for things to change, and I'll be the one to change them. Deputy, so long as Hearth is a viable candidate, I will not oppose him. What will you expect of the other halflings if you are elected?: To work together effectively with me, and not be bullied anymore. Orcs shouldn't be knocking down our doors asking for money, anymore than strangers coming in and attacking us, only to get away. Anything else to add?: I know I'm new, but I want to make the Shire into the place I heard it was. A place of peace, where Halflings could live and go about their business together, without fear of being hurt. Even if I'm not elected Sheriff, I will do my upmost to ensure that Dunshire is safe.

Definitions In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is assuming the role of something one is not. A pauper as a prince. A roleplay is generally requires some imagination. In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Using information your character has not learned, or has no knowledge of, for their purposes, as if they always knew it. Or knowing the position of someone whom has revealed the location to one in game. Or calling someone by a name not of your character's knowledge. In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting is doing something instantly; one shot kills are a good example. Or unblockable hits. Or using magic when you don't have it. In-Character Details Character Name: Mason Vie Arington. Character Race: Human Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Mason was born on a harsh winter mornning. As the tips of the sun rose over a hill, bathing the world in light once again, he was born into the world. His very birth shocked the midwife at the time, both due to the time and the fact he survived. The only problem involving Mason, was his heritage. His mother was all alone, left to raise him with her meger payment that she earned shinning shoes. She often shinned the shoes of anyone who would pay her, be it a nasty nobleman or a pleasent merchant. The beginning of Mason's life was simple enough. His mother and himself could afford little luxeries. Mason himself didn't care too much, but this deeply saddened his mother, causing her to constantly over work herself for her son's sake. Due to her efforts, she managed to get Mason enough of an education to learn how to read, write, and do simple mathematics. Mason spent most of his time alone, or being bullied by the very son's and daughter's of the people she worked for. Mason was mostly a good boy, for both his own and his mother's sake. Though he tried to avoid conflict, it always seemed to pursue him. He wasn't typically a bad kid, in-fact he was a nice kid. But the attitude of his peers often made it seem as if he was terrible. As Mason started to reach of working age, he was often fired when he was blammed for another's blunder. As time went on, this happened more frequent, until the point where he ended up with his only option to help his mother. As a shoe shinner, Mason wasn't exactly adept at such a skill, but he was good enough to help pay the bills for himself and his mother. As they worked together, they eventually made enough money to start making savings. For the first time in their lives, they were no longer scraping the bottom of the barrel. As time progressed, Mason came to be as good as his mother in the buissness. They spent a few years working together, making quite the name for themselves, and even expanded to making shoes, as well as just shinning them. However, as Mason started nearing adulthood, his mother's health was starting to decline. At first it was subtle, a simple cough, a little less energy, closing a bit earlier. At first he didn't notice. But as his mother did less and less, he realised the inevitable was bound to happen. Mason tried his best to take the burdon off his mother. Not after too long, he was the only one working, his mother too sick to work anymore. Luckily, as his mother seemed to reach death's door, her health began coming back to her, suprising her and Mason. As Mason's mother was nearly healthy again, he was conscripted into the military, leaving his mom behind to take care of buissness. The buissness suffered for a while, burnning through savings, reducing his mother back to working for meger pay again. It also drove her deep into depression, after her son dissapeared. Within a few months, she died from 'unknown causes.' Though some claim it's suicide, no one is able to pinpoint exactly how she died, only that one day she died asleep in her bed. This news still has yet to reach Mason. Mason on the other hand, faced long, rigerous trainning for the military, unwillingly. He was beaten several times, starved, and embarressed on numerous occasions, in his first year of duty. The only thing that bothered him was leaving his mother behind, when she was still not in good health. Often times he would practice, determinded to make it home alive. Mason was determined to be ready to face whatever was needed, regardless of the cost. His only goal was to get out alive. During his second year of duty, he was finally sent onto a mission, to scout an Orc's camp with a group of four. Originally, he was against it, but having no other choice, he went willingly. At first the events went smooth, they weren't seen, and the Orcs seemed as if they weren't targeting the humans at the moment. But towards the end, a group member, Davis, accidently knocked into some extra fire wood, alerting the Orcs of their precesence. Outnumbered, they tried to flee, only to be surrounded by the Orcs. Some Davis and Rachel, another group member, tried to surrender, only to cut down with their cries of mercy. Mason, Gregon, and Hale tried to fight. They formed a triangle formation, to ward off the incoming Orc attackers. At first it was working, they slowly cut through, getting out. As they were reaching the end, a spear impaled Hale, and the Orc threw him away from the group, leaving Gregon and Mason back to back. Gregon and Mason were both equipped with standart conscripts armour. They continued to fight, the Orcs threatened to overwhelm them the whole fight, but they kept fighting. Then a huge Orc picked up Mason, then took his sword, leaving Gregon to be swarmmed alone. Gregon dissapeared in a mass of green and swords, along with clangs of battle. The orc said something, something Mason couldn't comprehend, but he knew it was mocking him. The Orc raised the sword, but right before it was brought down on Mason's head, Gregon pushed through the crowd, pushing both him and Mason out of the massive following of Orcs. Gregon and Mason ran over, grabbing Hale, then the three of them set off, leaving behind the Orcs, bellowing into the cold night. They set off into pursuit, but lost them after what seemed to be a life time. The trio spent the night in a hollowed cavern, where nothing except the three lurked. Gregon and Mason took turns at watching over Hale and watching for any possible pursuers. They managed to slow the bleeding, though half the shaft of the spear remainned inside of him, pericing his lunge. All through the night, Hale wheezed for air, barley able to breathe enough to stay alive. As the sun washed over the mountains, Hale whispered to Mason and Gregon, using the last of his energy to do so. "I was hoping one day I could go home and see the world. But now as I sit here, I just you guys to continue on, and do the things the rest of us couldn't. Promise me you both will, for us all." But before either of them could respond, Hale closed his eyes for the last time, passing into the void. They solemnly carried on, leaving Hale behind, but before they arrived home, Mason split ways with Gregon, determined to live life properly, like Hale said to. This is the last current thing known of Mason's whereabouts. He hasn't been spotted in any human villages since that occurence, and most believe him to have died. Gregon returnned to the military, telling the story exactly as he saw it. Gregon. was later awarded by being promoted. What are your characters ambitions?:. To live life to the best of his abilites, as his friend Hale said. He also wants to find his mother again. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: Mason has a certain fondess for dwarves. Every other race he doesn't care too much about, but he hates the Orcs. Often times he'll go into violent rages if he sees one doing something he considers evil. Open-Response-Questions Anwser at least two of the below questions with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? "Another dwarf. How's your day today?" Mason looks at the various wares. "Have any cloaks, or something to conceal one's face?" The dwarf opens his mouth, as if to ask why, but then shakes his head, as if deciding that it wouldn't be a good idea. "Yeah.. A few. Thirty minas for a cloak of choice leather." Mason scratches his chin, as if considering this. "I'd like to see it first, if that's alright." The dwarf nods, before going into the back. He comes back with a sleek black leather cloak. Mason digs around in his coinpurse, laying thirty minas infront of the dwarf, then taking the cloak. He throws the cloak on, pulling it around so it was harder to see his face. Mason looks around the wares again, as the dwarf goes off shouting his various items. He watches the dwarf, amused again. Mason looks around, noticing a group of military personal from back in his consripted days. He nods to the dwarf again, hurrying off. You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? Mason looks at the Orc, suddenly enraged by the past events again. He runs forward, punching the Orc in the face, as hard as he can. The Orc staggers a bit, forgetting the dwarf. Mason begins beating up the Orc, shouting as loud as he can, in pure rage. "Your kind shall not take another life!" He continues to punch the Orc, until the Orc returns with a strong uppercut. Mason staggers, then the dwarf comes in, delivering a suprise blow to the face to the Orc. The Orc collapses onto one knee, then the dwarf and Mason beat up the Orc, leaving him bloodied on the ground. "I always hated Orcs.." Mason mutters, looking at the bloodied Orc. The dwarf laughs, deeply, before patting Mason on the back. "Your an interesting human. How about we grab a few drinks, just for that, they're on me." Mason and the dwarf laugh again, walking in the same direction, leaving behind the beaten Orc. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: Mason crouches down, picking up the Minas carefully, looking over at the old man, an Elf. "An Elf.. Well, what have we here? Are you alright old man?" The elven man moves a bit, as if to say yes. Mason looks around, then pulls his sword out, walking over to a nearby tree. In a few quick slices, he knocks off a decent sized branch, then he hands it to the old man. "Enjoy your new walking stick.. Oh, don't forget this either." Mason hands him back the minas, then puts his sword away into his shealth again. "Mind if I walk with you for a bit, sir..?" "Aarion." He replies, setting off his new walking stick. I follow right next to him, towards Malinor. "I'm Mason." They continue to Malinor, Aarion giving him a few glares every once and a while, as if he didn't like his company. Eventually they arrive at Malinor, then the old man walks off, muttering about young kids thinking they know best. Mason laughs to himself, before setting off to the nearest market. (Note:The color seemes atleast in my opinoin to be ALL one color. Not sure why. But it's red. So don't get angry when it's red and ya know.. 'Cause it just happened. No color tampering on my part.)
