The NGS Board of Exploration

The Northern Geographical Society (NGS) requires brave men and women from all races and creeds to chart the unknown and to rediscover the lost! For this reason we have created the NGS Exploration Board.

In accordance with my recent appointment as Director I have decided to focus on the lands WEST of the Dwarven mountains, we have a budget of Eight thousand Minas as compensation for the following expeditions.

For information on how to locate the areas in the contract, you may consult my book on the West, free copies are available in most libraries.

The Expeditions:

The lands of the west hold many mysteries and ruins, we offer these contracts to groups of adventurers and scholars, payment will be provided upon the handover of an expedition log.

The Eastern Wildlands:

For the Eastern wildlands we offer the following contracts:

500 Minas for a study on the Beast Hunter Guild of Farrador, this must include their rank structure, their culture, their religious beliefs and general way of life.

600 Minas for a study of the Dwarven ruins, a bonus of up to 400 minas will be provided for any artifacts found that we can display in our museum

200 Minas for a study on the flora and Fauna of the Eastern Wildlands

Total: 1700 Minas

The Wildlands proper:

For the Wildlands proper we offer the following contracts:

200 Minas for a study on the flora and Fauna of the Western Wildlands

200 Minas for an interview with an inhabitant of the Western Wildlands
 

Total: 400 Minas

The Firelands:

For the Firelands we offer the following contracts:

500 Minas for a general study of the land, this must include a thesis on the ruins and the people who inhabited them.

600 Minas for a study of the Pillar of fire, a bonus of 400 minas if your expedition can find a way to activate it.

1000 Minas for an in depth study of the dark temple, this must include who built it, why and its purpose, a bonus of up to 500 minas will be provided for any artifacts found that can be displayed in our museum.
 

Total: 2600 Minas

You’re right about how RP combat is a complete mess and clickydeath pvp is just so stupid, I like your idea for combat resolution but.....

Knowing the LOTC community if we added an RP combat system where you have racial bonuses and point buy for stats, a lot of people would make max strength Orcs with 0 int and RP them as green humans who are perfectly normal.

Sure we can tell them to not do that, but then they’ll move on to a more acceptable (but still overpowered) build, until that gets nerfed and so on and so on.
