  1. It's an interesting situation. On one hand, it's a constant market that allows people to buy and sell goods, RP items or vanilla, at all times of the day without relying on player activity in order to make minas and get rid of unwanted items or rp getting rid of items. It's a good system that allows for flexibility in marketeering and item management thats been around for a long time. On the other it makes an entire avenue of rp redundant (primarily mercantile/black market roleplay) and makes it difficult to justify doing so because you can just go and sell your item on the auction house instead. I personally think that the best way to revamp the AH is to just make it a general store for vanilla/unsigned items only. That way it allows for better item management in the way of vanilla resource gathering, and gives an option for those who want to do basic item exchange without depending on whether or not the local merchant is online or not. It also allows for expansion of player-run shops to be able to branch out into specific merchant roles; magic items, jewelry, custom item work, etc. I think it's the most fair middle ground compromise that can and should be implemented.
  2. Lmao, I mean obviously I won't ask for it IC. But what can I say, I like unique character writing and engaging motivations.
  3. The basic gist is my character is cursed to have his body be slowly disintegrated over a very long time, remaining a skeleton, but until he dies of it, he lives forever, agonizingly. The original avenue for this was denied by the story team staff I talked to, so this is the next best way to do it. That way I have an actually interesting motivation to write for him.
  4. Hi! Strange request, I know. BUT I am looking for a necromancer/dark arts caster to organize a plot/roleplay to curse my character so I can continue to write/roleplay him the way I originally intended. After talking to one of the story and lore team, I now know that the initial written plan won't work. So the next best thing, I need a necromancer to curse me. I'm happy to go over character details and plot here in PMs, whatever you need. Thanks! Edit: Thanks for the offers of help and friendly chatter! My original vision isn't entirely feasible within the lore of LOTC, which is totally fine. So I'm gonna talk to some peeps and see what we can do and see where it goes.
  5. Haha, yes, it seems so. Thank you all the same! I'm always happy to meet up and/or plot!
  6. Mmm. I'm seeing there's some sort of drama between staff and some bannings. However, I'm just here to write and roleplay and hopefully get some writing inspiration from a new outlet. I'm hoping whatever this drama is doesn't impact the in-game world too poorly, and I'm gonna attempt despite it either way.
  7. Thanks a lot! I definitely will if I have any!
  8. Thanks! I've fallen hard into pirate theming recently, haha, and if you want to orchestrate a meeting or a specific plot, my PMs are always open!
  9. Hello hello! My name is Elven_Lord (He/Him), and I'm trying to make a dedicated return to LOTC! Last time I was actively, well, active, was around 2016/17 (whoo boy it's been a long time). I tried to come back around 2019-ish, but school proved to win out that one. I'm graduating in a year, and as my other roleplaying avenues have seemingly dried out, and nostalgia hits me with spurts of playing Minecraft, I figured I'd come back and see how the community is thriving. I have very fond memories of playing with a few friends on the server and learning the ropes of roleplaying. And now that I've got several years of dedicated experience in actual writing and RP, and with a newly refreshed want to come back, I figured "Hey, why not?" So a little about me then. I'm 21+ years old (no specific age of course) and have been doing roleplay through various means for around 10 years now. For the past 4 years I've been primarily roleplaying via Twitter and met very cool friends and have had a lot of growth in my talents and scope as a writer. I've played Minecraft for...well, actually, LOTC was how I got my account in the first place, and a close friend bought the account for me so we could play here together way back in 2013/14. So for a long time, basically, haha. I've done a lot of skinning as well, and have always made my own skins, and may extend skin editing services if I feel confident in my skills down the line. I'm a Film/Animation BA and Criminology minor graduating in a year (hopefully). I dabble in game development as well and hope to go into a career there. I am 100% LGBTQA+ friendly as well and am an avid ally. As for LOTC, I am currently catching up on the lore and what's happened over the past few years, because it's been quiiite a long time and I'm not super sure where the world is at right now and where the community is too. I plan to fully revamp and remake an old pirate-themed character of mine from the last time I attempted to be active, so look out for that character application soon! I look forward to reintroducing myself here and getting reacquainted to the world of LOTC! P.S. If there's anything notable for the current land of Almaris I should know, or specific resources/events for me to catch up on current ongoings, that'd be greatly appreciated! ~Elven_Lord
  10. I need to change something...so I'm going to let anyone sign up(and see if it's ok with leaders)and they will compete. Neither orcs nor dwarfs have enough to compete.(sorry!)(I was informed you needed at lest 50 competitors for it to work...)
  11. Thank you! I will be putting up a sign-up wall: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/102758-lotc-olympic-games-sign-up/
  12. What race are you? Are you a leader-if not you must ask your nation leader(if they have agreed to compete(Same with anyone else who wants to compete))
  13. This could probably be a new 4.0 tradition idea or something...
  14. Dwarfs have agreed! They are in! Huzzah! I just need (at least) 1 more nation to say yes and a nation to host it.
  15. I updated rules, added some, and added another Game.
  16. I can, and besides, if all the nations compete, it will only be 20 players, 5 from each nation. Easy. The hard part is making the arena!
  17. Here is the Olympic Games schedule(Or what it will be like): LOTC Olympic Games Universal rules: 1.NO SOULSTONES MAY BE USED. If a soulstone is used, that race's whole nation is disqualified. 2.Before entering the arena, you must leave all items in a ‘locker’;so you don’t use any cheating items, otherwise that whole nation is disqualified. 3.No attacking other competitors, unless allowed. Break this rule, and you are arrested and disqualified. 4.No crafting in the middle of an event. We would not know what you’re crafting and if it could be used to potentially harm or sabotage another player. if so you will be disqualified for the rest of that event. LOTC Olympic Games-Day 1 1.Start with the welcoming 2.Introduce the competitors 3.Introduce the Olympic challenge of the day 4.Explain rules: Obstacle course-speed Rules: 1. Stay in your marked lane, which also means no pushing other racers- rule-breakers shall be kicked out of the Games 5. When race is done, announce the 3 winners and say farewell to the watchers LOTC Olympic Games-Day 2 1.Start with the welcoming 2.Introduce the competitors 3.Introduce the Olympic challenge of the day 4.Explain rules: Archery Rules: 1. No sabotage, shooting other players-rule-breakers will be disqualified. 2.You get 5 arrows and that’s it. No crafting more, no getting donations for more. 3. Aim for the targets only. Enchanted Waraxe(Orcs) (This event will be in real days, not Minecraft days) ________________________________________________________ Rules for Nation Leaders 1.If for some reason, the leaders feel the need of the players fighting, special items should be thrown in, or something else should be allowed, it must be done by majority vote. 2.If leaders wish a specific event should happen, please contact me on the topic. 3.If leaders wish a different reward be awarded to their victor, it must be reasonable and discussed with me first.
  18. I know! I'm asking each of the leaders! So excited!
  19. Alright, thanks! I'll ask around. Maybe the Elves could...
  20. You've all watched 'em. They're amazing! It's also quite simple. I'm a competitive guy and Olympics would be fun, I think. There could be obstacle courses for speed, target practice, maybe some sort of gladiator stuff.... What do YOU think?
