Typically, when defining an abusive household, most people imagine a horrible father. For Cassius, the opposite proved true; his mother was awful to him the moment he was born. Neither were his real parents, he was seperated at birth from his real family. He was a highlander but never much looked like one. His mother would scream at him as a child, beat him as a tween, and steal from him as a teen. His father was a simple fisher and they all lived together in a small hut outside of a lake. The nearest town was Reza but it was still quite the distance, therefore his father was gone quite a bit. This left him to the mercy of his mother. This happened his entire life and he felt trapped. Until he was 13, that is, when his father brought home a wooden sword he bought just for Cassius. He trained with it for hours a day, for years. His mother still beat him, his father still left a lot, but he felt like he had an out. A happy place. Then, at the age of 17, his father died. Killed by bandits on the road, at least that’s what the guards said. No one knows for sure what happened to him, but his body was beaten and ravaged, they abused him in many ways before he died. Cassius wanted revenge, and a purpose in life. Cassius left his fishing hut and his horrid mother behind. He went straight to Reza, and with the skills he developed, joined the town guard there. He was never involved much with the big fights or brawls, he mainly used this position as on opportunity to train even more. To him, it was just a means to an end. Unfortunately, at 22, he lost his job because he continuously would let criminals off the hook out of the kindness of his heart. He had saved some coin up and decided to move away and find a new home. He hadn’t actually killed anyone, he’d barely even fought anyone seriously. So when three bandits jumped him on the road, he panicked. He could have died, all his training felt like it left him. He sweat profusely and defended their blows, never attacking. Until one of the three attackers cut his leg. Not a deep wound, merely a cut from a dull axe. He became furious and within moments, all three of the bandits lay dead. That was the start of it, he liked the pain he felt when they cut him. He enjoyed killing those who hurt him. He wanted revenge again, on his father. Ever since then Cassius wandered from town to town, he found companies, groups, individuals, anyone that would pay him to fight for them. That has been his life, still searching for that final kill that will satisfy his bloodlust. Years passed and Cassius had felt the need to find his real family. After researching, reading, and asking around, he found a man that looked exactly like him. He searched around and ended up finding him in a tavern. They met and soon found out that the man was named Rodrik Kortrevich, and was just like him. Cassius learned so much about himself from Rodrik. Cassius had Haenseti descent, which was surprising to him. Ever since he has spent his time fighting, and learning about his real family. He took up his last name.
